If you are coming to Canada, please do not be discouraged. The main thing to keep in mind is that nothing ( work and PR) is guaranteed or promised. Having low expectations is the key to staying realistic and happy. You should also understand that you need to plan your life after school even before you start applying for admission.

Nothing is free.

The government, the school anyone who tells you something is free...you are paying for it more than you realize. Take the bus pass, for example. You might pay around $120 for a 4-month term in a small city. You can always check your fee breakdown.

Some days, you will need to be somewhere on time, so you will use an Uber...like going to a job after class. You can not wait for the bus if it’s too slow, so you will need a ride. An Uber can easily cost $30 $40 for a quick 20–30 minute trip. That’s part of what your job income will go toward.

Also, in smaller cities, some jobs arenot well connected by public transit. You might take a bus part of the way and then use Uber to finish the trip. so I am confident in what I am saying.....

I am not encouraging students to hope on part time work to pay tuition,even though that some lucky ones did it and got away with it..

This is not about 2026,things are even getting easier in canada in 2026 than 2024 and 2025 since immigration started reigning on temporary residents that is students and workers intake..

At this point, everyone can do what they want. Listen to that one or two friends who told you it’s possible. Anyway, I am just a madman who doesn’t know what he is talking about

But this students did only 1 year college program 18k tuition fees ,house rent of about 500 for one room apartment per month..
2 have completed the course working in demand occupation and already got pgwp waiting for ita in pnp nominations...
The other one has manuerverd her way to pnp nominations and have applied for permanent residence she is healthcare practioner back home..she pay upto 1k for 2 rooms apartment but rent the other room out..

The problem is when students apply for 3 to 4 year program in big expensive cities like ontario and expecting to pay tuition fees with part time jobs .

However I know other student who couldn't get a job or even pay tuition fees with part time jobs or maintain the study permit and they dropped out..

I always say someone will tell me they know one or 2 people that have done it and today they are PR or citizens with a big house and a fat bank account hahahahahhahahah...

but that's not the realistic position in 2026

I wanted to explain this properly with numbers, facts, and even links if needed showing how many hours you are legally allowed to work, how much you actually earn after taxes, and the reality of expenses. I could even break down the math.

But honestly, I don’t bother anymore.

No matter what you say, someone will always respond with, I have a friend who paid over CAD 40,000 for their program just by working while studying in Canada At that point, I just laugh and tell them to do whatever they want.

People have called me a Madman because what I say but at the end of the day it all makes sense

The truth is, many people think they know better, and I don’t sugarcoat facts to protect feelings. When you actually look at the numbers, they simply don’t add up.

At the end of the day, it’s not realistically possible to fully pay your school fees just by working while studying.

you can pay rent you can pay phone bill you can pay for food but you see that your school fees you can not...........

Haha! You’re completely wrong about that. I’ve seen people receive visa extensions even after their PGWP expired, and also after completing programs that were not eligible for PGWP. In many of these cases, they were issued a one-year visitor record. The problem, however, is that with a visitor record they are allowed to stay in Canada but cannot work.

You know that getting extensions after a PGWP has expired is different from the case we are talking about here. In this situation, she does not even qualify for a PGWP in the first place.

You do not really need Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) for students visa employment letter and pay stub should be good enought but anyways

if you need it you need it so...... If you have been working for a company, ask your employer. I believe they have been deducting taxes from your salary during that period. if you are a full time staff I believe.

In Lagos that I know even before this new Tinube tax , employers are responsible for deducting employees taxes through the PAYE system.

Upon your request, they should also be able to facilitate obtaining your Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) from the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).

Your employer can assist by submitting the necessary records required to process and obtain the certificate.

I will never advise anyone who came as a student or even on Vistor visa, and whose plans did not work out, to apply for asylum.

Do you really understand what asylum is, what it takes, and the process involved? If you are coming from Nigeria, the probability of rejection is very high because Nigeria has a high asylum refusal rate. I have spoken about this countless times.

Yes, follow the instructions the school gave you.

When applying for your visa, include a copy of the email from the school with your other documents and explain to IRCC that you are willing to pay more, but the school advised that the $2,000 deposit is sufficient for now.

Also state that you have the full funds in your account and are able to pay more if required.

That explanation should be sufficient. Just make sure you include that email to IRCC, as it will strengthen your application.

The reason the school does not want you to pay more than $2,000 is because, if your visa is not approved, it is easier for them to refund a smaller deposit. However, I wish you the best and hope everything goes smoothly.

See your life how you keep mixing things up Admission and visa processing are two completely different things. No one needs an agent to get admission or even Visa.

I never told anyone to use an agent to get admission. What I have always said is that if you must use an agent, it should only be for the visa process, and the agent should be licensed.

My issue with you is that you keep making up statements that I never made. I am a do-it-yourself person, and I have always stood by that.

I have seen the damage that many Facebook agents have done to people, which is why I always warn. In my opinion, no one will present your case better than you can yourself.

That is why I always encourage people to handle their applications themselves. But if you absolutely must use an agent for the visa process, please make sure the agent is licensed.

You need to understand that IRCC needs to see that you have enough money, and that the money is linked to a legitimate business or job. In your case, you want to use tax filings via your freelancing business as that link.

its at the Nigeria Police Force, Central Criminal Information Department (FCID) in Alagbon You would give out your finger print and some details about yourself.

you don't need to go if you find a policeman that can do it for you but you will need to do the fingerprint yourself and add your picture and details and send to the person.

its valid for 3 months

Please, someone should help him with the process of getting a Nigerian police clearance. It’s been a long time since I did mine for PR.

IRCC requested the birth certificate for all my family members, I'm the only one applying for the study permit. And this week they requested for my Police clearance Certificate.

Please I need more information from someone who has experienced this or know what it means for my application.

My program is 1 year program with total tuition fee of 20,000 cad, POF of 47,000 cad this will include the remaining tuition balance plus living expenses now this is what my offer letter payment method stated 2000 cad to pay first before April 3 to secure my seat, also 8,889 cad to be paid May 1 now I'm saying after the 2000 deposit to secure my seat what I plan to pay again to add to it as additional payment is 3000 cad then use this to apply for study permit with strong POF does this payment okay hope visa officer will not question why not paid the full first semester payment as at when due and stated by the school also hope school will not withdraw my offer if later I pay 3000 cad out of 8,889 cad I was asked to pay by May 1

For a 1-year program with $20,000 tuition, having $47,000 CAD as proof of funds is very strong because it already covers the remaining tuition plus living expenses.

After paying the $2,000 deposit to secure your seat, adding another $3,000 payment (making $5,000 total paid) before applying for your study permit should be fine. Visa officers mainly want to see that you have the full funds available and that you have already started paying your tuition, which shows commitment.

Many students actually apply with only the initial deposit paid, so paying $5,000 already looks good. As long as your bank statement still clearly shows enough money to cover the remaining tuition and living expenses, it should not be a problem for the visa officer.

The only thing you should confirm is your school’s payment policy. Since the offer letter says $8,889 is due by May 1, it’s best to send the school a quick email to ask if partial payment is acceptable while your study permit is being processed, so they don’t withdraw your seat.

Overall, your plan looks fine, just make sure your POF is clear, stable, and well documented when you apply.

Taking advice from someone who keeps getting visa rejections back-to-back due to low funds, and can only boast about collecting 3 admission letters from different schools without having a visa yet well, OYO ooo.

Anyways, I have always said: do what the school tells you to do and make all the payments the school requires.

If the school asks you to pay the $5,000 or $10,000 by a certain time, make the payment. Use the communication you had with the school and the proof of payment, and include it in your visa application.

You need to ask the school admission office all this question they would be in the best position to help with how much you need to pay at a certain time.

This helps IRCC understand that you have already made payment and that you have the ability to pay.

Some people have money sitting in their account but cannot actually make payments because the money was borrowed just to show Proof of Funds, like AbelAbdul does that's why he has 3 admission and multiple visa rejections (Bro I am praying for you it gets better).

So in summary, anything the school tells you to do, please do it before applying for the visa . Use that as part of your documentation to show IRCC that you have already made payments. If it means paying the full $10,000 and you are able to do it, then go ahead as long as you have communication with the school confirming before and after the payment.

A little question because from your previous questions you are not explaining something well
(1) How long is your program 1 or 2 years
(2) how much is the fee for a year not terms year
(3) how much is your POF
(4) Hope you have the living expenses $22,895 + ( your full Year fees at most) in the POF account

Please i have been admitted for Fall 2026 intake and my question is will it be too late to apply for visa by June am asking because i am self-sponsoring myself and i am still saving up money for my program. Currently, the processing time as of today is 8 weeks.

However, many people (Nigerians) applying from outside Canada have mentioned that it is taking longer than 8 weeks some report 11 to 13 weeks.

If you submit in the first week of June, it should hopefully be okay if everything goes smoothly, but it is quite tight timing.

The school asked you to pay $2,000 first because if your study permit is rejected, it is easier for them to process and refund that amount back to you. So just follow the school's instructions and do not rush the process.

Paying the $2,000 deposit already shows that you are willing and able to remove money from your account to pay for your school fees.

Also, make sure the remaining tuition fees plus your living expenses https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/get-documents/financial-support.html

are available in your bank account. It is also good to add a little extra money to show that you have additional funds in case of unexpected expenses. Some people refer to this as miscellaneous expenses because trust me you will be spending alot of miscellaneous expenses

don't be like AbelAbdul who keeps getting admission he currently has 3 admission but keeps getting back to back Visa rejection because no funds and blames everyone online for picking schools he can not afford
