My tuition off a

Thank you for your response
My tuition for a year is $30,236.
So, you basically need proof of funds covering your living expenses $22,895 plus one year of tuition $30,236

That brings the minimum to $53,131.

However, it’s better to strengthen your application by showing tuition for at least two years, and having your sponsor demonstrate a solid business or salary that can cover the remaining tuition for the second or third year.

The challenge is that this is not a Master’s or PhD program, so it doesn’t fall under any visa cap exemptions. That means you will need to work harder to convince IRCC that you qualify, especially with about 309,670 study permits expected to be issued in 2026. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/notices/2026-provincial-territorial-allocations-under-international-student-cap.html

You can see where the competition comes in.

Because of that, you need to show stronger financial capacity than the bare minimum.

For a two-year program, I usually recommend showing at least $60,000 to $65,000 CAD. Some people think that’s crazy talk, but when you actually do the math especially for programs not under visa cap exemptions you need your application to look strong in every way.

tuition for 2 yrs is around 60k. living expenses for two yrs around 40k, cost og flight and other stuff
Well, that’s an expensive school but everything is relatively expensive in Canada. Remember, nothing is guaranteed. If I were to calculate everything I spent on school back in 2017/2018, I might have been discouraged from going, but I believe it has paid off in the long run.

Look at it this way: if you get a part-time job, you can reduce the amount needed for your living expenses for the remaining time after your 2nd year.

but For the first year, you’re looking at about $22,895 for living costs, so overall you may be looking at around $80,000, give or take remember you can not work to pay your school fees but only rent and upkeep. It’s better to focus on your school fees for the two years, along with the $22,895 annual living expense for a year

Hopefully, that makes sense. A cheaper school would definitely make things easier, but I can tell you for a fact that Canada is worth it for someone coming from Nigeria.

Canada isn’t perfect, but it gives you opportunities and leverage. That said, nothing is guaranteed not even permanent residency.
=Bree225 post=139136746
ATTAHDYE asked you the right questions

You said you weren’t planning to include your son’s U.S. citizenship in your application and would only use his Nigerian passport information.

Hahaha… please do not do this. His place of birth already reveals that. I am begging you whatever you do, do not lie to IRCC even if its a small white lie.

Now, to answer your main question: Can I show only the balance of tuition for the first year and living expenses as proof of funds, or do I have to show the full amount for the entire program (2–3 years)?

You can show the balance of the first year’s tuition plus living expenses as your proof of funds.

However, your sponsors should demonstrate that they have the financial capacity to support you beyond the first year. You don’t necessarily need to show funds covering the full 2–3 years upfront, but your parents (as sponsors) should provide evidence of their ability to continue funding your education when needed.

Showing more funds can strengthen your application, as it clearly demonstrates financial stability and reduces any concerns from the visa officer.

so in summary more money strengthen your application and make sure that money is traced to a business salary investment or long term saving now thats where people have issue

curious how much is your school fees a year ?

side note when you do small research you will know more than this visa agents Eg you mentioned TOC Canada https://www.toccanada.com.ng/ they do not even have the updated POF on their website https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/get-documents/financial-support.html

Good morning friends. Please I would want to go for a vacation in Canada later this year. Who can work me through the path?
How can I apply for a visit visa to Canada?
I need step by step guidance. I would be glad if anyone could render an assistance. Thank you.
No one knows you better than you know yourself. Create an online account and apply.

https://ircc.canada.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp

It’s a step-by-step process just like creating any account. You will answer questions truthfully based on what is asked of you.

After that, the system will tell you which documents you need to upload.

At the end of the process, you will make payment. Keep in mind that you must be able to prove everything you claim.

For example, if you state that you attended school from a certain year to another year, you should provide evidence.

or you said you have a business you should show evidence...... Also include proof of employment, savings or business accounts, and tax returns you know your situation best.

Once you submit your application and pay the fees, you will receive a Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL). This usually comes within a few hours to a few days after submission. You can then book an appointment at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/can

Please do not pay anyone for assistance. You know yourself better than any agent on Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, or Nairaland.
Asking for general help can sometimes attract the wrong people.

I beg you do not pay anyone. Again, do not pay anyone. You can do this yourself you are more capable than you think.

If you have questions during the process, feel free to ask here. Someone will guide you openly. Once again, do not pay anyone for anything.

Thank you very much.

Like I mentioned, I know why my last application was rejected. I applied without having the full support documents. I was going for a conference and I did not know the venue of the conference, I just knew it was Ontario. My sponsors were booking my hotel and they had not do so, they had not even sent me invitation. I applied because then it took three months to get visa, conference was 2 months away.

I believe I had more ties now than I had back then. I have a valid US visa now, did not have any then. I go to the US annually and return.

I’d go ahead and put in my application then.
you have a US visa Good that helps your case way better then.......all the best

I don't have time to exchange words with u. I'll say again, NO KOBO for scammers like u here. Bye
The reason I am replying is to clear my name. When someone calls you a thief, it’s only right to speak up and defend yourself.

In over 10 years on this platform, you are the first person to make such an accusation against me. What exactly have I done to you?

I am not responsible for your visa rejection, nor am I the reason for your lack of funds . I secured my visa a long time ago, and I have my citizenship, my home, and my job.

You keep calling me something I am not and something I have never been. I strongly believe that in life, when your name is being dragged, you must stand up and clear it that’s exactly what I am doing.

A scammer is someone who commits fraud or engages in dishonest schemes to gain money or possessions from others.

In over 10 years on this app, I have never collected money from anyone. No one here has my phone number, and I have never shared any account details. Countless people ask questions, and I respond to the best of my knowledge....nothing more.

I use Windows speech-to-text (Windows logo key + H), which sometimes misinterprets words, and I use Gemini to correct errors and restructure my words and sentence but you still want to be an ass about it....Well I see the fun in it

Your accusations are completely baseless. It’s clear that your intention is to damage my character, but that will not stand.

Use Gemini AI to reply people as you like but no kobo for you here to scam. Get a job stop scam
Again, you are talking without cause. If anyone had emailed me and been scammed, they would have called me out on this platform but for over 10 years, that hasn’t happened. You’re just making up stories.

And you said, My job is to make sure nobody emails you. Hahaha… well, does that mean you don’t have a job?

maybe I am feeding to this your reply and you get excited when you see me reply

Hi everyone, I had applied for a Canadian visa with my wife 10 years ago and got rejected (our fault, we did not put complete documentation).

I am planning to apply again but it seems the system has changed compared to when we last applied.

I know I’d stay my application not the Canada website but I’d like to see an end to end process.
Pp
I plan to travel to Canada in August so o should have applied by now. However, I am going to Ghana on the 1st of May and to Gabon. Y mid May so I cannot submit my passport until end of May.

1. If I apply now, when do I need to submit my passport? Is it when the application is submitted or when visa is approved?
2. When do I need to submit my documents?during online application or when I submit my passport?
3. When would I be invited for biometrics? Immediately after submitting the application, in between or when visa is approved?
4. Is there any other thing I need to know?

PS: I appreciate all the support given to me but responses should be on this thread. I’d not respond to any dm or any requests to act as agent, I have never used an agent to apply for visa and I’d never ever do so. Thank you in advance
(1) Welcome to the digital world hahahah I still remember days of paper and you link your application online to track it but now in 2026 You submit your passport only after approval IRCC will send you a Passport Request (PPR) That’s when you send your passport for visa stamping.

(2) Everything has changed its all online and all documents are submitted online yes I know technology right hahaha

(3) so after you submit your application and pay fees You will receive a Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL) Usually it Comes within a few hours to a few days after submission You then book an appointment at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/can

(4) well you need to understand why your visa was rejected 10 years ago which I believe you have now which is good also as fastcars0000 said in an early post you need to give IRCC more documents and information that you think is needed... they are quicker to reject that 10 years ago make sure to Show strong home ties (job, business, family, assets) and also avoid inconsistencies or using fake documents IRCC eye dey red

wish you all the best

The cheap weed you are taking is really doing a number on you. Where exactly do I come into this conversation?

It’s easy to label anyone a scammer, but I have been on Nairaland for over 10 years and not a single person has ever accused me of scamming . I have never collected money from anyone or asked for payment in any way. I simply answer visa questions and provide my email for people who may want to ask privately... but I always encourage people to ask in the group as it helps keep everyone informed

I have said it before show me even one person I have scammed. You can’t be throwing my name around with “scam” attached to it.

I guess it’s true what they say: when you fight scammers, they fight back.

And I am pretty sure Someone either Badadvisor or AbelAbdul I have attacked in the past sent you but I am here for you all anyway 😂

I have resorted to seeling the land i want to use for home ties, how again can i demostrate home ties?
You have to explain and show the visa officer that, without reasonable doubt, you have a strong reason to return to Nigeria after completing what you said you are going to Canada to do. now we all know that everyone wants Work permit and PR after school but that should not be your focus on your application as that creates red flags for the IRCC officer

Now, how you present this depends on your situation. In my opinion, owning land alone is not a strong home tie.

even saying you have a family back home in Nigeria is not good enough to home tie except you are married and you have kids then and only then is a reason...and that's good enought home tie...

If you have a family business that is already running, and your parents have indicated that you will take over after your studies and you are already a director in the business that is a stronger home tie than simply owning property or land.

if you have a career and you are looking to expand your field internationally with your SOP saying the experience you will get from schooling in Canada will help your business or job you currently do that's a better Homes ties than Land

So, it is your responsibility to understand your case and use your specific situation to build a strong home tie

I have removed my WhatsApp contact and revised the entire post. I only included it initially because I’m not very active on Nairaland, and I wanted anyone who needed guidance to be able to reach me easily.

However, due to the backlash I received, I have decided to take down the write-up and simply wish everyone the best in their applications. My intentions were genuine—I truly wanted to help, and at no point did I request any fee. I even included a disclaimer to make that clear.

Omo, God abeg ooo.

In the end, we will all be alright.
We are all here to learn .....even me I learn everyday but I have a few questions about what you said. No bashing I am just trying to understand.

To be honest, I don’t fully believe your story, but I am giving you the benefit of the doubt. Personally, I still have doubts, but who am I to judge? That said, I would appreciate it if you could answer a few questions:

(1) Do you have a previous or current Canadian visa? ( even at that it doesn't not change anything )
(2) Do you have a previous or current U.S. Immigrant visa? as in do you have a Green Card?
(3) Do you have any EU PR ? ( even at that it doesn't not change anything )
(4) What is your travel history? ( even at that it doesn't not change anything )
(5) How much was your proof of funds (POF)? ( even at that it doesn't not change anything )
(6) Do you have another passport that you used to apply? maybe you a Japanese passport ( 1 week) or you are using a St Kitts passpot
(7) what is your country of residency ?

As I mentioned earlier, I find it hard to believe that someone using a Nigerian passport applied from Nigeria for a study permit along with a spouse’s open work permit on April 5, 2026, and got approved by April 9, 2026....... ( Currently average processing time is 8 weeks and people have waited longer) https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html

IMO the only situation where that timeline seems possible is if you have a Green Card or are a U.S. citizen,Residents of Greenland or Saint-Pierre and Miquelon in which case you could apply at the port of entry. That’s the only scenario where IRCC would respond that quickly as you are in the POE..... but remember I said what do I know about anything

Have you heard of a 5-year visa ban?

Do you understand that a 5-year visa ban can follow you for years when applying for visas, since countries share information?

Read about Migration Five (M5) Five Country Conference (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA).

Also look into the United States–Canada information sharing agreements and the Schengen Information System (SIS/VIS).

Please, avoid any fake “proof of funds” agents I am seriously begging you do not mess up your future.

also if your wife is doing Masters program she does not need a PAL https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/get-documents/provincial-attestation-letter.html

I wanna apply for nursing program as a domestic student. I currently live in Ontario (Kitchener), working as a PSW for 2yrs. I also have PSW cert from Conestoga. I am confused whether to go for RPN (16 months) or BScN (4 years).
Deep down, you already know that BScN is the better option, but you are worried about the time (4 years) and possibly the cost, especially since OSAP grants have been reduced by the Ford government.

At the end of the day, you know your financial situation and your academic ability better than anyone here. But think about it this way: if you go for RPN, after about 2 years you might start wishing you had just gone straight for BScN.

What I am saying is, that thought may always stay in your mind I should have done BScN it’s just a couple more years.

The choice is yours, but BScN definitely offers better long-term opportunities. Even though RPNs and BScN nurses often do very similar work, BScN nurses typically have more career options and can earn higher pay.

Think long-term about what you really want for your life.

My honest and genuine advice:

If you can handle the 4 years, go straight for BScN.

If finances are tight or you want a quicker path, start with RPN and then bridge later.

You copy and paste people question inside Gemini and you will now screenshot the page that Gemini gets the answer from and copy the answers Gemini give u. All of us go to school. It not only you that have AI on your phone, we know AI answer. I know you are agent that is looking for somebody that will email u so that u will scam them but I will not allow u
Hahahahahahaha, I love this energy you are bringing! I don’t use a phone...I use a laptop with Windows speech-to-text and then correct the grammar using Gemini.

I am not the reason for your family problems or why your visa is getting rejected.

I think I remember you now...you were the one asking me how I have time to work and reply to people on the forum.

I have never collected money from anyone, and I never will. No one can pay me enough for that. I have always fought fake visa agents daily...not just on Nairaland, but also on Facebook, Twitter, and mostly WhatsApp and Telegram.

I see you have a personal issue with me, which I fully understand. I am where you never will be, and that can be frustrating.
