Yes, that would work. Normally, people bring their driver’s licence and are now asked to get a Driver’s Licence Authentication from Ottawa, which can be used for verification.

But you still need to write your G1 test.

I told him soft copy I get and I cannot show him cos my laptop isn't with me. He kept me there for some hours said he wants to verify my information. I guess he called my school sha.

But last last I was granted access. Did you know that these guys printed my study permit gave me before sending me to meet immigration.

I was asking what was the need of going to meet immigration if my study permit is already in my hand so the security guy said the reason I have to meet immigration is so the can verify my documents and my intention for coming to Canada.

It depends on the province you’re in, e.g., Ontario. But I would recommend writing your driving exam and getting your G1 as soon as possible....

That way, when you’re ready to get your G2 or G after or before school ends, you won’t have to wait too long.

Once you can afford it, you can also get a small car that you can use for transportation.

Honestly, I can't say. Suggest they keep sending web forms or engage a Canadian RCIC based in Canada who can engage IRCC directly in Canada on the individual case.

At this stage, there is nothing a Canadian RCIC based in Canada would be able to do web form and emails are the only way to follow up when in process.

IRCC will take its sweet time. The best time to use a Canadian RCIC is before or during the application process. Once you have applied, there isn't much they can do unless IRCC requests additional information and you don't know how to respond that's when you may need their help.

See, I remember back in the day look at me talking like an old man 😂 when IRCC study visa applications would take 13 to 19 weeks. Things have gotten better, but one thing is for sure: IRCC will make you build patience and be very prayerful. 😂

Some people have copied and submitted the exact list of documents used by another applicant, only to get refused. Then it becomes a case of “I did everything. I submitted everything.”

What they fail to understand is that there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to visa applications.

What every applicant should be doing is critically asking themselves: Does this support my application? If the answer is yes, include it. If the answer is no, remove it, even if your blood sister submitted the exact same document and got approved.

Every case is different. Even within the same family, the documents my sister will use may be completely different from the documents I will use because we have different lives, circumstances, and experiences. It also depends on the answers you provide when creating your profile and, generally, who you are.

For example, if you say you were a student from 2005 to 2009, you should provide your BSc certificate or other documents to support that claim.

If I say I own a business, I can provide my Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) certificate, business tax returns, and, if I import goods for sale, documents such as a Bill of Lading or Air Waybill.

If I export goods from Nigeria through my business and make money from those exports, I can provide documents to show IRCC that the business is legitimate, such as an NEPC Exporter's Certificate, which proves that the business is registered to legally export goods from Nigeria.

The business should also have a bank account in the business name, and the bank can provide a letter showing that I am the authorized signatory on the account.

If you work for a company, you may need an employment letter, tax documents, payslips, bank statements, and other supporting documents that show who you are

So, when I say no one can give you a universal list of documents, this is what I mean: whatever you tell IRCC about yourself, you should be prepared to support it with appropriate documentation.

Please, I need some advice regarding an issue involving my wife, and I would appreciate guidance on the best way to resolve it.
My wife is an international student in Canada and currently works approximately 20 hours per week at XX company . At the same time, she had been attending a school on a voluntary training basis in early childhood education, without being formally employed there.
Subsequently, there was a change in the school's management. The new management was apparently unaware that she had been participating as a volunteer/trainee and mistakenly treated her as an employee. She was later formally offered employment by the school.
The issue is that the school also processed 24 hours from her previous training/volunteer period as paid employment and generated a payslip/cheque for those hours. My wife had not submitted her banking information and has not received the payment. As soon as she became aware of the error, she informed HR that those 24 hours related to her earlier training/volunteer period and asked that they be removed from payroll.
However, HR informed her that the accountant said the payroll had already been processed and that the cheque could no longer be cancelled or removed.
Our concern is that if those 24 hours are recorded as employment and combined with the approximately 20 hours she worked at Xx company during the same week, the records could appear to show approximately 44 hours of work, despite the school hours having arisen from the earlier training arrangement and subsequent payroll error.
We would therefore appreciate professional advice on how she should properly rectify and document this situation, whether the school should provide a written clarification of the payroll error, and whether any further action is necessary to protect her compliance with the conditions of her study permit.

Hmm this is different from what we see here everyday but the main thing is to get everything in writing from the school.

Ask HR for a letter confirming that the 24 hours were from the previous training/volunteer period, were mistakenly processed as paid employment due to a payroll error, and that she did not actually work those hours as an employee or receive the payment.

I know its hard but that will be the best bet and in everything keep the payslip, emails, and any proof of the training.

If the training itself could be considered work, I would also speak with a licensed immigration professional before contacting IRCC... do not cast yourself yet

Hi, I arrived Canada, thanks everyone for the support, I really appreciate. For my application, I applied from Poland and honestly the process was straight forward, no medicals required, from submitting my application to getting the application approval and passport request took less than 3 weeks. Feel free to ask any questions, though I might not be able to answer some private questions like program of study, the university. The program i will be studying is a tech program, I work in tech, and the university is a public university in Ontario. I have attached screenshot of my application history, list of supporting documents submitted, list of financial documents submitted. My experience at the port of entry was very straightforward, it was exactly what I prayed and fasted for, I was only asked two questions,

Officer: You came to Canada for study
Me: Yes
Officer: You're here for your study permit
Me: Yes

Then she stood up went to print the study permit and gave me, asked me to read and make sure everything is correct, then said welcome to Canada. I spent less than 2 mins there.

Also, I was not asked any document, not even LOA or letter of introduction though I had the printed copies of all my documents in my backpack, I only gave the officer the slip from the kiosk and my passport (i did my arrivecan online, a day before departure so it was really fast at the kiosk) then she asked those two questions which I only answered yes to both (no explanation) which she immediately stood up to print the study permit and gave me to check everything is correct and said welcome to Canada.

Everything was correct including the statement "May accept employment on or off campus…", my LOA did not include co-op (not applicable), although I wasn't asked to provide the LOA at the port of entry. Thanks once again everyone, this platform was really helpful, I also used Ai alot both in drafting my statement of purpose, financial explanation letters and also lots of questions through out the application process especially some private questions I couldn't ask here.

See how organized and detailed you are with your LOA now. If I were an IRCC officer, I would take your file very seriously.

When applying for a visa to any country, always disclose any previous visa refusals and explain the reason for the previous refusal.

I believe that's in the IMM 1294 form for student visa I will try and get a picture of it

And yes, you can explain it in your Letter of Explanation if you believe doing so will be helpful to your application...

you need to Submit an IRCC webform immediately....today you can explain that you are currently physically in Canada as a visitor

Attach the passport bio-data page and the page showing your valid Canadian visa, plus the passport request letter

Ask IRCC in the webform to confirm whether the passport must be submitted, they will know what best to do

given that you are already in Canada and already possess a valid TRV..

So sorry to hear this — refusals with young families are especially painful. A few honest observations from experience with the IRCC process:

Reconsiderations rarely succeed. IRCC almost never reopens a refused application unless there was a clear legal or procedural error. Even MP offices can only prompt a review — they can't overturn an officer's judgment. So today's outcome, while disappointing, is unfortunately the norm.

The ODN is actually the roadmap. The officer spelt out exactly what failed: unexplained large personal savings vs. very low declared income (~$1,666 CAD), weak evidence of company viability, and low sponsor funds in Canada. Having the funds in your account is not enough, you need to back it up with detailed forensic source of funds evidence. A new application only stands a chance if it directly cures each of these — a documented source-of-funds trail for every major deposit (sale agreements, gift deeds, business income records), audited/management accounts showing the business is real and profitable, consistent tax filings that match the savings, and stronger sponsor finances.

Skip another reconsideration; build a fresh, properly documented application. Money spent re-arguing the old file is better spent on getting the evidence right — ideally with a licensed RCIC or immigration lawyer reviewing the source-of-funds story before submission, since a third refusal on the same gaps becomes very hard to recover from.

A few months ago, I brought awareness to the fact that people should handle their visa applications themselves. But if they absolutely must pay someone to help, they should make sure that person is a licensed immigration consultant (RCIC).

I am not talking about admission here, before someone comes with their usual talking points.

A lot of agents came for me because I was supposedly spoiling their business. I won’t mention names, but they called me all sorts of names and accused me of everything bad under the sun, without providing any evidence...Till today.

The reality is that the average Nigerian cannot afford the services of an RCIC. Not because we do not have the money we always believe we can get the services cheaper somewhere else


That is exactly why I encourage people to learn the process and do their visa applications themselves where possible, rather than paying someone simply because they call themselves an “agent ” except you can verify they are registed with RCIC

Canadian visitor visa applications or any visa application are not one-size-fits-all.

The documents you submit are based on the answers you provide to the questions in your application.

So, you cannot assume that the documents someone else submitted will be appropriate for your situation. What works for one applicant may not work for another, because each person’s circumstances, finances, travel history, family situation, employment, and purpose of travel are different..

Based on the financial documents submitted, I am not satisfied that the applicant has sufficient funds to pay for living expenses for the proposed studies. Weighing the factors in this application, I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay. For the reasons above, I have refused this application.

Abi you know an existing visa is not a shield against a new refusal.

An existing visitor visa may show that you were previously approved to travel, but it does not guarantee that a new application will be approved

Reading what you shared, the major issue in the refusal appears to be financial capacity and the source of the funds

IRCC found that although you claimed to have enough money, your tax returns, business records, and bank statements did not convincingly demonstrate how the money was accumulated or that the funds were genuinely available for this trip.

The officer also noted that your tax clearance certificate showed your highest reported income was in 2025, when you earned the equivalent of only about $1,666 CAD. This creates a significant mismatch between your reported income and the amount of savings you are claiming to have available.

In simple terms: Your minimum POF = Tuition for the entire program + $48,252 CAD for living expenses for 5 people + $3,000 ~ $5,000 CAD for miscellaneous expenses

so let us say your school fee is about $40,000 for 2 years + $48,252 + $3,000 CAD for miscellaneous expenses you are looking at $91,252 Mimimum POF

But having the required amount sitting in your bank account is not enough by itself You also need to convincingly establish the source of the substantial savings.

IRCC needs to understand how you accumulated the money and whether the money is genuinely available for the proposed trip.

If your reported income does not reasonably match the amount of savings you are claiming, that can raise concerns about the source and availability of the funds

One very important point when reapplying: Do not simply reapply with the same documents and expect a different result

You need to address the specific concerns raised in the refusal you just shared to us and provide stronger evidence explaining your finances, the source of the funds, your income, business activities, and why the money is genuinely available for the trip....
