Once Bill C12 fully comes into effect, the whole idea of entering Canada on a visitor visa, fake conference, or “tourism” and later claiming asylum will be reduce so much.

Bill C12 is designed to stop late asylum claims, especially from:
Visitor visa holders, Students who overstay and People advised by Facebook/Telegram agents to “enter first, claim later”

This law changes the system completely. Before, asylum cases were handled by a judge at the IRB. Now, in many cases, an immigration officer not a judge will decide your case.

For years, people have been using lawyers to delay their cases appeal after appeal just to remain in Canada even after rejection.
Bill C 12 is meant to end that loophole. even Canadian Immigrations lawyers that use this method to eat are crying out because the game will soon be up. https://ccla.org/privacy/ccla-renews-calls-for-government-to-drop-its-strong-borders-package/

If you’re found ineligible under the new rules which the government are the once that set the rule depending on how things are no more judges

You won’t get an IRB hearing and You will be pushed to PRRA (Pre-Removal Risk Assessment) instead

If you understand PRRA, then you already know that one is very risky as No more “business as usual.”

Your Facebook agent selling you a conference visa package will not tell you this or may not even understand it To them, you are just money.

Bill C 12 is a real game changer it has already passed 3rd reading. https://www.parl.ca/documentviewer/en/45-1/bill/C-12/third-reading?

It introduces new eligibility bars for refugee hearings and the government sets those rules.

And remember even the current Liberal government has said clearly that they want to reduce the number of people with pending or expired status in Canada.

any one thinking of using this method in 2026 Think twice, Do proper research and don’t gamble your future.
The bill passed yesterday, so anyone who thinks they can use a visitor visa to come to Canada and claim asylum like before should know that it is now more difficult than it used to be.

What has mainly changed is that most people may only get a Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) instead of a full hearing.

Let me explain this is something your Telegram, Facebook, and WhatsApp groups will never tell you.

Normally, if someone claims asylum in Canada, their case goes to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada:

(1) They get a full hearing
(2) They can tell their story in person
(3) They can bring a lawyer, evidence, and witnesses
(4) An independent decision maker decides their case

Now, under Bill C-12 (in some situations), some people won’t get that full hearing anymore.

Instead, they may only get a Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA).

A PRRA is a paper-based risk assessment done by an immigration officer at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. They basically ask:

If we send this person back to their country, will they face danger?

A PRRA is much weaker than a full hearing:
Things your telegram and Facebook group will not tell you

(A) It’s harder to prove your case
(B) There is no opportunity to explain things verbally
(C) Decisions rely heavily on paperwork
(D) You may need a very strong (and often expensive) lawyer to prepare your documents
(E) There is a higher risk of refusal

PRRA is usually used as a last check before deportation, not as a full refugee process.

So this change means that Most people will go from having a full legal hearing to only getting a final risk assessment before being sent home.

I just decided to share this information, even though no one asked me to...

its not longer in House of Commons/senate its now the law as of Yesterday

IRCC has upgraded their thinking now 😄
Becos many people that show all this huge money later declare asylum
Showing huge money is no longer a VIP ticket to visa approval,it can even raise eyebrows. Like… you suddenly this big man from nigeria with million million in audio bank account, never traveled to the UK or anywhere serious, and now overnight you want to “visit Toronto”? 👀
Let me add to that you have never paid international student fees for your kids to study abroad, and now you’re planning a "vacation" to Canada with all your children, with 20 million naira in your personal account and “business” account of 70 million… hahahahaha!

My parents never even left Nigeria, yet they had kids studying in the UK, Canada, and the USA until graduation. They got their visas back-to-back USA Canada and UK with zero drama...... I applied all for them no agent and a huge balance

Hello guys, my wife applied to the univeristy of sakatchewan for a masters degree in public health, she meets and exceeds every requirement and I'm confident she would get in, my confusion here is, we've presently got a 3 year old boy and a baby coming in May, the baby would be 7months old be the time of her intake January 2027. Would this be a good reason for me to also apply for SOWP jointly with her study permit, being that she would need me to support her with the kids especially the new baby, or should we wait for her to get her study permit first, using myself and the kids as ties, then I stay back looking after the kids and apply for sowp later with the kids, say after 6months... I fear we applying together may spoil her own chance... On the other hand I also feel the visa officer may understand our peculiar situation and just maybe we could apply together and it would just work. What do you advice please
I don’t like to make comments when it involves a young child. It is not normally easy for a mother to leave her 7-month-old baby to come to school in a very cold country but that might be the only option.

It is also not easy for a young child when the mother is an international student trying to focus on school, especially with the financial responsibilities that come with raising a child even tho the father will be around with a young 3 year old ....IRCC knows this and will likely reject the visa application applying with a 7 months old

IRCC may also have concerns if the whole family applies together. Even though the husband may qualify for a SOWP, applying for a study permit and SOWP at the same time, while bringing two children, can be complicated...........cost is what I am talking about $42,543 + her school fees Advisable the full 2 years fees https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/get-documents/financial-support.html

Overall, it is not an easy process, especially with the current (post-2025) situation.

In many cases, the best option is for the mother to apply on her own, get settled for about six months to a year, and then apply for the SOWP and bring the children and you later. This approach tends to work better, especially if the husband continues saving to support the family while the wife is already in Canada.

By that time, a large portion of the school fees (around 80%) would have been paid, and the husband would ideally have enough funds to support all four family members.

As you can see, this is not usually a straightforward process. I hope you choose the option that works best for you.

I have few people that did that. That is waht we plan to do and will update the house on the outcome here.

Will share the flight ticket the day they plan to come in and update here the outcome. The mum with valid visitor visa and valid students and 4 minor kids with vistor visa.
I wish you all the best, but what most people don’t tell you is that they don’t do this at the POE. They apply after they are already in the country. It’s called dual intent, and it is legal.

You can enter Canada on a visitor visa and later apply for a study permit from inside Canada but not at the POE.

That same day, you might encounter a strict border officer who takes your declaration very seriously . Your actions must match your original purpose of entry, which is a visitor visa.

Only U.S. citizens or permanent residents ( green card Holders), Residents of Greenland or Saint-Pierre and Miquelon can do that at the POE

You are a Nigerian you can not

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/apply.html

Please ask questions before doing anything, because that’s not how it’s typically done at the POE.

Do not do that at the point of entry.

But luckly her friend already have vissitor, so its only the her that is applying for student permit while the children will travel with her using their vistor visa and maybe declare at the point of entry that they will be studying.

vistor visa and maybe declare at the point of entry that they will be studying.

Bad idea very bad idea and extremely risky.....

If you do that at the POE, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will likely deny you entry immediately, send you back to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and flag any future visa applications even worst of all, they will receive a 5-year ban for misrepresentation at the spot...

do you understand the context of you have a vistor visa but on entering you tell CBSA that you will not just be visiting but studying for more than 6 months I guess....DO NOT DO THAT

yes Ontario tech uni.

My program is 16momths which the first year tuition is 22,350.

I reckon the remaining 4 months shouldn’t be much.

What I mean is that, an investment firm will provide certificates of investment of 6 months and proceed to say that after maturity, the money was then disbursed into my account which will now be the POF.

My question is, will ircc request for evidence of where the investment money is coming from?

I could use a landed property that my family sold about 8months ago and claim that the money was deposited to the investment firm directly.

Will this work?
You have 3 questions I will help with the best of my knowledge to help

1. Will IRCC ask where the investment money came from?

Yes very likely IRCC does not just look at the final balance, they look at the Source of funds , History of the funds like paper trail and Consistency of your financial story.

If you suddenly show a large amount (like tuition + living expenses), they may request Bank statements (6–12 months) , Proof of sale (if you claim property sale), Investment records and Income history
A certificate alone from an “investment firm” is not enough if the origin of funds is unclear.

2. The investment certificate strategy can be a problem

from what you described the Investment firm gives 6-month certificate the the money will matures and the money shows in your account as POF

I really would like to know the name of this investment firm that gives this kind of return because it looks somehow to me just saying

and to IRCC it will raises red flags because It can look like temporary fund parking which IRCC may suspect the money is borrowed or not genuinely yours and over time I have seen many applicants have been refused using similar “investment certificate” approaches

IRCC knows and has seen it all

3. Using property sale as source can it work?

Yes, but only if it is fully documented and genuine using a Land lawyer from start to finish of the process

Proof of ownership, Sale agreement, Proof of payment received (bank transfer, not cash ideally), Timeline showing money flow to investment your account....

If you do not have documents Or try to “construct” the story after the fact that becomes misrepresentation and a 5 year ban is waiting for you that's the hard side of using sale of land when not fully documented well.

IMO.......Avoid complicated Short-term investments, investment certificate or anything of that Nature for POF

A lot of people get approval with far less. Take it easy abeg. I shared here recently how approval was obtained with account balance of 8,000 USD and the person stated she was spending 5,000 CAD during the holiday. And its even a joint account not sole.

The financial is important but not the all in all. People with huge amount of money have bagged refusals and and people with average account balance have also gotten approval.

I've gotten a number of France Schenghen visas in the past with less than 5m account balance.
in the past with less than 5m account balance

5 Million naira in 2020,2021,2022 or 2023 is not 5 million naira in 2026

2020 ₦5 million = $13,000 - $13,700 USD
2021 ₦5 million = $12,500 - $13,000 USD
2022 ₦5 million = 11,500 – $12,000 USD
2023 ₦5 million = $8,450 USD
2024 ₦5 million = $3,520 USD
2025 ₦5 million = $3,500 USD
2026 ₦5 million is roughly $3,100 – $3,300 USD

Money is not the most important factor in a visa application, but it is still very important. When reviewing an application, officers typically consider:
(1) Can you afford the trip?
(2) Is your reason for travel genuine?
(3) Will you return home?

Please don’t take me too seriously I am just a guy on the internet who talks a lot and might not always know what he is saying.... cheesy cheesy cheesy

Masters Program. All are TECH COURSES.

I asked you based on school reputation and location. Forget the fees,, I know Ontario is most expensive among the 3
I am more of a city person, though that might be costly for some. If I had to choose and money wasn’t an issue, I would go with Ontario Tech University, which is in Oshawa the “armpit” of Ontario 😂 (that’s what they call it).

After your first job, no one really cares about the name of the university where you got your master’s in Canada it’s more about your experience and overall skills.

Another reason I would choose to do a master’s in Ontario (regardless of the school) is because on March 18, 2026, Ontario (OINP) conducted a significant draw for the Master’s Graduate stream, inviting 582 candidates with a minimum score of 30.

This was the first draw for this stream since September 2024.

These PNP Provincial Nominee Program targeted draws focused on international student graduates with specific Canadian work experience, who did masters in Ontario also and profiles created between July 2, 2025, and March 16, 2026.

This Canada sef, is it that expensive?

On the average You won’t spend 4m visiting Europe with hotel and flight inclusive, except you are a luxury traveler.
Naira has lost its value in 2017 when I was going to school my CAD35,000 school fees was about 8.5 million naira.....that’s the main problem. someone would has a proof of funds (POF) of 15 to 20 million naira and still plan to spend 4 million naira just on a visit for 2 weeks... does not add up and will likely get a Visa rejection irrespective of the country

Most people traveling will stay with friends or family members yes I know but that's does not still calculate Airfair and other cost....

No immigration officer will look at someone with 15 million naira (about $10,800 USD) or 20 million Naira in savings.....which is likely their life savings.....and believe it makes sense for them to spend 4 million naira on a two-week trip.

It suggests they cannot realistically afford the trip, and regardless of travel history, the visa is likely to be rejected.

I am using France as a case study based on average travel costs, you simply cannot afford that trip with a POF of 15 million naira, or even 20 million naira.

I know that's why fake POF document business is working

Thank you very much for your answer, but please did u say my account balance should be nothing less than $45,000 CAD?? isn't that a bit too much for someone that is going on a short family visit of about 14days?
the money you are spending might not be up to more than $5,000 to $7,0000 after flight ticket and staying with family but understand what I am typing....

You already have a 70%–80% chance of visa rejection as a Nigerian by default.

Having a U.S. visa reduces your rejection risk to around 40%–50%.

If you have a solid business that can demonstrate a strong proof of funds , and that POF is clearly tied to consistent income over time, your rejection risk may drop further to about 25%–30%.

Unfortunately, your application needs to be stronger than that of the average applicant.

You should aim to eliminate all doubts in your application and Money linked to a good business does that.....

POF is not just for the 14 days you are traveling; it shows that you can afford life beyond that period and that the 14-day trip will not affect your regular life......

some people will say $15,000 to $20,000 as POF

Look at it this way .....you have $20,000 CAD saved, and IRCC knows that the average tourist coming to will spend roughly $2,084 for 1 weeks. About $4,200 for 2 weeks trip. Also add flight ticket

You are staying with your sister so you are not going to spend up to that

Now, we know that as Nigerians, you might stay with family and not spend that much but IRCC is generalizing based on average spending.

A two-week trip to New Brunswick costs, on average, about $4,200/Per person...in general but number are relatively in any city..

But remember you have family to stay with..

This estimate includes accommodation, food, and local transportation, but it does not include airfare, which can easily be around $2,000 CAD on a good day, or sightseeing expenses. so total can be $6,000

So, from IRCC’s perspective, if you have $15,000 in proof of funds, they will ask: does it make sense for you to spend about 35% of your savings on just a 14-day vacation? To them, that may not seem reasonable.

That’s how IRCC looks at it.

I always tell people to do what works for them some people think I am being extreme which I understand

but proof of funds is not just about covering your 14-day trip. It’s about showing that you can afford the trip without negatively impacting your financial stability.

Immigration is not cheap anywhere, and professionals charge for knowledge that many people are unwilling to learn themselves.

For example, immigration lawyers in the U.S. charge a minimum of about $350 USD for a 30-minute consultation. That alone should tell you something about those “Facebook agents.”

I have always emphasized doing it yourself I have not used an agent in my visa process the materials, steps, and guidance on how to present your case and documents are all available online but most people do not want to read and do small research

However, if you have the money, pay a licensed professional not random agents on Facebook or Telegram or Whatsapp

Too many people avoid doing proper research and instead trust someone they met on Facebook or Telegram who claims to be an Visa agent and offers a cheaper service. In many cases, these individuals submit fake documents to IRCC on their behalf, which can lead to a 5-year visa ban.

Even after those 5 years, that record can follow you for life when applying for visas, as countries share immigration information.

you will have to explain when you get the question Have you ever been refused a visa or permit, denied entry, or ordered to leave any country

you would say Yes, I previously submitted misrepresented documents Now tell me that does not look bad

If you plan your schedule around your job and school, you won’t end up spending $30–$40 on Uber. cheesy cheesy cheesy

Hahaha! students in Kingsville, Wheatley, Chatham-Kent, and Essex and Windsor, Ontario, go look for Factory /Farm jobs in Leamington, Ontario.

If you donot have a car, it’s Uber or a shared bus ride to the job. See? Anyone can do whatever they want. Remember, I am a mad man, and anyone who takes words from a mad man seriously is… well, crazy! Hahaha.

But I have 55m .49m in my company account and 6m in my personal account . I’ve a sister in Uk which I can ask for her bank statement for sponsorship. My question is , do I need to add a sponsorship or I’m good with the 55m. I will be waiting for your response house .. God bless ..
IMO, you are already in a good position, but adding her as support is a strong extra step. She can explain that you have the financial means to take care of yourself through money you have earned and saved from your business. She should also state that, in case of any emergency expenses outside what you have budgeted, she is willing and capable of assisting you, as your sister who has your best interests at heart.

She should include supporting documents such as her employment letter, tax returns, and proof of residency (e.g., ILR or a British passport).

You can also include your parents’ IDs ( with family name on it or even her birth certificate to show its same parents) to help establish the family relationship and confirm that she is indeed your sister. It would strengthen the application if she mentions that she has supported you in the past during emergencies, while still making it clear that you are financially independent and able to support yourself.

This approach makes the case appear genuine and well-structured. Based on your situation, you already have a strong case...you just need the right documentation and a clear explanation from her.

All the best.
