TravelRe: Ask Me Anthing About Manitoba by amokemi(m): 9:59pm On Aug 21, 2017
Hi Amaky,

Thank you very much for opening this thread as a means of helping folks. I am coming to Winnipeg in a few weeks on a PR visa with my family And I will need your help on a few questions

- How is the weather like in October?
- What bank and telecoms service provider will you recommend?
- I see you have mentioned starting out on any job. I personally don't mind as long as it can pay my bills. How easily is it to go about the job search?
- What is the average cost of a 2 bedroom apartment?

Thank you. I still have a few other questions but I will stop for now.

Thank you.

Congratulations on moving to Canada. I wish to advise newcomers concerning jobs and settling in Canada. The truth is the current reality of most people who migrated is not what they expected when they decided to migrate.
After landing some people land their dream jobs while for others it takes a while. If you don't get your dream job please try to take up survival jobs because you have bills to pay. If you decide to take a survival job please continue to pursue your dream job and DO NOT SETTLE.
One mistake that our people make is that they start making long term decisions such as car financing, mortgages while working menial jobs. What happens is that they are stuck and cannot take the courses they need to get their dream jobs.
A lot of people are unhappy here, bank manager working as home support worker or cashier when we have people from other countries who did not have education at all coming here to take professional jobs after going to school.
Don't rush to buy house and brand new car when you know you still have a long way to go. Nobody cares what you wear, whether you drive. No one cares. Build yourself up to where you want and then you can eat the fruit of your labour in peace.

By the way I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Any smart dude with a couple of POS who can arrange an about #1m cash per day from the nearest town can make cool money this period o. Agency Banking to the rescue.

I do not currently live there, but cost of living is definitly cheaper..most likely one of the cheapest popular cities to live in. Job prospect would depend on the industry you are looking at. e.g you would hardly find investment banking jobs or say very high level technology in a place like Winnipeg, but you would find the regular healthcare, IT and /accounting/finance, agriculture, sales e.t.c all popular. Some of these jobs are even more well paying than in bigger cities. You can google to find more info specific to your career of choice.
Thank you Salford. I appreciate

Nice information here, at least the first two pages. Unfortunately, the thread has started derailing because of questions not related to the thread. It will be nice if we stick to the purpose of this thread and other questions posted to other threads meant for such.

Bros, what year did you finish and what department. That six months national ASUU strike was the longest in the history of lautech. Unfortunately this has broken the record.

See my alma mata cry.

Reminds me of those days we used to stage outside the main gate on the highway. There was a time in 2003 when the skool went on a 6 months strike. Boys just go find job anywhere they could while they waited for ASUU to call off the strike. It was during this period my web design skills began.

Julius Berger need to expedite work on the Lagos-Shagamu end of the road though. RCC is doing great so far.
PoliticsRe: Why Buhari Has Not Sacked Emefiele, CBN Governor - Pulse.NG by amokemi(m): 8:55pm On Nov 19, 2016
#EmefieleOut

He's the worst thing to have happened to this country after boko haram. If we have a more competent CBN governor, then the oil shock wouldn't have bitten us this hard. This coupled with his lack of professionalism and patriotism displayed in the recent past when he literally opened the CBN vaults to politicians is enough reason to axe him.

EducationRe: 7 Reasons Why Test Takers Fail The Gmat by amokemi(m): 8:22am On Nov 13, 2016
The GMAT used for employment purpose is different from the GMAT the op is referring to. Employment GMAT is simple and not to be compared to the business school required GMAT.

The main challenge with Nigerian candidates is that we are not used to standardized test and as such it's kind of strange and difficult.

Another challenge with gmat is the data sufficiency questions. Anyone who can master and do well in data sufficiency will do well in the quantitative aspect of gmat. The quantitative part is the most difficult anyway.

And like the op said, you have to take as many preparation tests as possible. You can be sure your scores in the prep tests is a reflection of what you will score in the main exam.

My final advice to anyone who want to write the GMAT, please get the most recent official guide and use it for your preparation. That was my own undoing. I did not use the official guide while preparing and I paid dearly for it. I want to write it again but I can't summon the mental strength to prepare.

Gmat is tough but it is surmountable.

By the way I scored 560.
PoliticsRe: Niger Delta Leaders To Buhari: We Want Oil Blocs by amokemi(m): 7:41am On Nov 02, 2016
Sincerely this country needs an hard reset. We can't continue patching things up. These people are greedy. They have NDDC, NigerDelta ministry, 13% derivation and various interventions from the IOCs. What has become of all these? Yet they want more.

President Buhari, please give them 100 percent and sit back and see how they will destroy themselves.

Banks need to take the issue of fraud seriously. I don't know the essence of BVN if all these fraudsters cannot be traced. The fraud desks in banks should be collaborative and help stop these fraudsters.

Please ensure your dad is okay and he doesn't dwell too much on this. God shall restore his loss.
