When the time comes for me to speak, you will eat your words - Nasir El-Rufai replies X-user who said he is finished politically Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has declared that he will speak out when the time is right for him to do so. The netizen, identified as Eureka, @Archimeokey said the former Governor is politically finished and can’t talk anymore. The netizen added that El-Rufai now hides behind others to speak. “El-Rufai is gone. “He is finished politically. “He now hides behind other people’s ink to write and their mouth to talk. “The big mouthed Elrufail can’t talk anymore,” the netizen wrote on 𝕏. A 63-year-old NHS administrator who stole £80,000 from her employer to send to her online boyfriend in Nigeria has been spared a prison sentence. Hyacinth Blair, who worked for the South London & Maudsley NHS Trust, pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position after withdrawing the substantial sum over an 18-month period. Blair, who met the man online, told the court that he had pressured her into sending the money and that she felt "helpless" to refuse. However, Judge Lynn Tayton, KC, dismissed this as the sole reason, stating there was "sustained dishonesty not only explained by pressure or mental health issues." The judge pointed out that Blair's actions necessitated a thorough review of the trust's financial controls and severely undermined public confidence in the system. The Fraud and Its Aftermath The court heard that between June 2021 and January 2023, Blair used her position as an administrator to transfer funds from the trust's accounts to a bank account in Nigeria belonging to a man named Michael Okafor. She met Okafor through an online relationship and claimed she had felt compelled to send him the money. The judge noted that the stolen funds were intended for public services and that the fraud caused significant distress among her colleagues. Despite the serious nature of the crime, Blair received a two-year jail sentence, which was suspended for two years. The judge explained that the decision was based on Blair having no previous convictions and character references speaking positively of her. As part of her sentence, Blair is required to complete 250 hours of unpaid work, 15 days of rehabilitation activity, and undergo six months of mental health treatment. The judge issued a stern warning, stating, "You are fortunate. Be very clear, if you come back before this court you will go to prison." At the time of the sentencing, Blair was unemployed and on universal credit. To date, there has been no public information on whether the stolen £80,000 has been recovered or if the recipient of the funds, Michael Okafor, has been located or faced any legal action. https://dazzlingdawn.com/2025/08/07/63-year-old-nhs-administrator-sentenced-for-stealing-ps80k-for-nigerian-online-boyfriend |
It is still two years until Nigeria's 2027 presidential election, but electoral activities have already kicked off in full swing, in violation of the country's campaign regulations. The opposition, sensing the growing power of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has entered into a coalition agreement, using the All Democratic Congress (ADC), a small party, as its new adopted platform. 2027 Nigeria election, APC vs ADC, Four Horsemen framework, ChatGPT election prediction, Peter Obi 2027, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu re-election The prominent members of the ADC coalition include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Vice Presidential Candidate Peter Obi, former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, former transport minister Rotimi Amaechi, former Senate president David Mark and former interior minister Rauf Aregbesola. They are from the top three key parties in the country: the APC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP). As they mobilise across the country in their bid to unseat President Bola Tinubu, the APC is also taking aggressive steps to retain power beyond 2027, welcoming key PDP governors into its fold ahead of the general polls. The political climate has reached a point where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has had to issue a warning that campaigning at this time is illegal, echoing the standpoint of popular human rights lawyer Femi Falana. The APC has endorsed President Tinubu to fly its flag again in 2027, while Atiku and Obi are in a silent battle to pick the ADC ticket. Obi has even offered to serve only one term as part of his negotiation to get the ticket while also respecting the country's informal north-south presidency rotation. Who will win Nigeria's 2027 presidential election? Amid the political debate, Legit.ng asked ChatGPT's Election Predictor, "Acting as an experienced political editor in Nigeria, predict who will win the 2027 presidential election?" The generative AI tool responded by applying a Four Horsemen‑style framework to Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election. The Four Horsemen-style framework is a strategic or analytical model popularised by Scott Galloway, a professor at NYU Stern School of Business, in his bestselling book The Four: The Hidden DNA of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google. In this Four Horsemen framework analysis, each "Horse" symbolises a powerful factor that historically predicts whether the incumbent party will lose a presidential election. If two or more horses are present, the incumbent party is predicted to lose. Here's what each horse represents: White Horse means Significant Third-Party Candidate. That is, there is public dissatisfaction with the two main parties (APC and PDP). Red Horse represents Voter Turnout Uptick. This means there is a motivated electorate seeking change and willing to go out en masse to vote. Black Horse represents recession, reflecting that the state of the economy is hurting the ruling party (APC). Lastly, Pale Horse represents Vacancy (No Incumbent). It shows a weakened incumbent party without the advantage of a sitting president. 2027 elections: Four Horsemen adapted for Nigeria 1. White Horse: Significant Third‑Party Candidate Using the Four Horsemen-style framework, ChatGPT stated that the White Horse is present. This, according to the generative AI tool, is because Atiku, Obi and others have joined the ADC coalition to challenge President Tinubu, and that Obi’s Labour Party and APC-PDP realignment have energised younger voters. 2. Red Horse: Turnout Uptick Turnout in the 2023 presidential election dropped to around 27%, the lowest in Nigeria’s democratic history, continuing a long decline (57% in 2007, down to ~27% in 2023) ChatGPT predicts that without major reforms or a dramatic mobilisation, a significant increase in turnout by 2027 seems unlikely. This means that Red Horse is absent. 3. Black Horse: Recession or Economic Crisis Although inflation remains high and cost‑of‑living pressure persists, the World Bank reports economic growth of around 4.6% in late 2024 and projects 3.6% in 2025 under Tinubu’s reforms (fuel subsidy removal, exchange‑rate adjustments, revenue gains). This means there is no clear, outright recession. And according to the framework, this means that Black Horse is absent (for now). 4. Pale Horse: Vacancy/Incumbent Exit From all indications, President Tinubu will seek re‑election, and he remains healthy; no credible rumour of withdrawal or vacancy has surfaced. This means that Pale Horse is absent. 2027 Nigeria election, APC vs ADC, Four Horsemen framework, ChatGPT election prediction, Peter Obi 2027, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu re-election ChatGPT’s Four Horsemen framework election prediction suggests the APC may retain power unless voter turnout or the economy shifts dramatically. Source: ChatGPT Source: UGC Overall Score: 1 (only White Horse) Per the Four Horsemen model (original research since 1932), if fewer than two horses appear, the incumbent party is predicted to win 100% of the time, ChatGPT's election predictor stated, adding that a score of 1 strongly suggests continuation of the APC's control of the presidency. 2027 Nigeria election, APC vs ADC, Four Horsemen framework, ChatGPT election prediction, Peter Obi 2027, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu re-election 2027 election prediction: Context & caveats The generative AI also provided some context and caveats regarding the prediction. The AI election predictor stated that while turnout in 2023 was dire, if the ADC coalition (or new parties) manage a true grassroots turnout surge, especially among young and first-time voters, it could flip the signalling on the Red Horse. It added that a sudden downturn, e.g., global oil shocks, debt crises, and serious food insecurity, could activate the Black Horse later in the election cycle. Also, unexpected developments (e.g. judicial rulings, major scandals) could affect Pale Horse's status. And lastly, the predictor stated that it doesn’t identify which candidate will win, only whether the incumbent party (APC under Tinubu) is likely to retain the presidency. ChatGPT's election predictor verdict for 2027 elections Given current observable trends and likely conditions, White Horse is present (significant opposition coalition) while Red, Black, and Pale Horses are absent. The Four Horsemen framework would forecast that the APC (Tinubu’s incumbency) is likely to retain the presidency in 2027, assuming no major economic collapse or turnout revolution occurs. Only two things can stop Tinubu in 2027 - Ali Modu Sheriff Meanwhile, Ali Modu Sheriff, the former governor of Borno state, has said that President Tinubu winning the 2027 election is non-negotiable. He said the president will not be re-elected in 2027, only if there is no election in 2027 or if he decides to step down from the race. Sheriff said as long as President Tinubu contests the election, he would be declared the winner. https://www.legit.ng/politics/1667973-who-win-2027-presidential-election-nigeria-asked-chatgpt/ |
Daniel Woyengikuro, the National Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said the party could offer former President Goodluck Jonathan an automatic ticket to contest the 2027 presidential election. However, he stressed that Jonathan would have to return to the party and play a more active political role. Woyengikuro stated this during an interview with Vanguard. He said: “Is he not the best candidate for us at this moment? He is not just a former president; he is the leader of the party now. “Aside from [former President Olusegun] Obasanjo, the next person in line is him. Goodluck Jonathan is the national leader of this party.” When asked directly if PDP would consider granting Jonathan an automatic ticket, Woyengikuro replied: “For me, that’s what I firmly stand for. You can quote me anywhere — I want him to come. “An automatic ticket for him, as it stands now. Because we must salvage both this party and the nation.” https://dailypost.ng/2025/08/06/2027-pdp-gives-goodluck-jonathan-conditions-for-automatic-ticket/ |
A fresh leadership tussle has erupted in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declined to recognise the party’s newly formed caretaker committee led by former Senate President, David Mark. Despite a resolution by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to dissolve the existing National Working Committee and install an interim leadership, INEC has maintained that the party’s old executive remains in charge. Checks on INEC’s official portal by The Guardian on Tuesday revealed that Ralph Okey Nwosu is still listed as the ADC’s National Chairman, alongside Said Baba Abdullahi (National Secretary), Cavin Alagoa (National Treasurer), Ifeyimwa Ntima (National Financial Secretary), and Ujunwa L. Onwuasoeze (National Legal Adviser). The ADC’s national secretariat is also retained at “No 1 Capital Plaza, Nyanyan-Kuru Road, Abuja” with its official contact number. The leadership crisis deepened in July 2025 when the ADC announced a caretaker committee following the resignation of Nwosu and his executive members. Those named in the interim leadership are: David Mark – Caretaker Chairman Rauf Aregbesola – National Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi – Interim National Publicity Secretary The structure also appointed six Deputy National Chairmen from across the geopolitical zones. At the party’s 99th NEC meeting, which INEC officials reportedly attended, two motions were adopted: one reinstating suspended members (except Ibe Kachikwu), and another dissolving the old NWC to pave the way for Mark’s caretaker team. Following the NEC meeting, the David Mark-led committee met with all 37 state chairmen, including the Federal Capital Territory, in Abuja to consolidate support for the new leadership and reaffirm the party’s unity. The meeting also outlined plans to strengthen coalition-building efforts and reorganise party structures ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, INEC has yet to update its records to reflect the leadership change. Responding to inquiries by The Guardian, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Lawrence, stated, “The old exco is still in charge as of today (yesterday).” https://www./2025/08/06/inec-declines-recognition-of-adcs-david-mark-led-committee/ |

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command says its operatives have arrested four individuals in connection with a staged kidnapping designed to extort the sum of five million naira from an elderly man by his two daughters and their accomplices. The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh explained in a statement on Tuesday that one Mr. Innocent, a resident of Jikwoyi Phase II, reported to the Jikwoyi Police Division on July 30 that his 16-year-old daughter, Miss Lead Way Innocent, left home on 18th July 2025 to sit for an examination at Government Secondary School, Karu, Abuja, and had not returned. According to the police, Innocent subsequently received a phone call from unknown persons, demanding a ransom for his daughter’s release. Josephine said upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Jikwoyi Division immediately launched a discreet investigation. According to her, through coordinated intelligence gathering and digital tracking, the phone number used to contact the complainant was traced to a residence in Jikwoyi Phase II. “Operatives proceeded to the location, where they found Miss Lead Way Innocent in the company of one Mrs. Tina Mayowa, the wife of Mr. Mayowa Adedeji. “Both individuals were seen eating and conversing freely, indicating no signs of distress. “Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Miss Joy Innocent (the elder sister of the alleged victim) and her boyfriend, Mr. Mayowa Adedeji. Findings revealed that Joy conspired with her boyfriend, who is legally married to Mrs. Tina Mayowa, to stage the kidnapping of her younger sister, Lead Way Innocent, in a calculated attempt to defraud their father of N5 million. “It was further uncovered that Lead Way Innocent was not only aware of the plan but was an active participant. She willingly stayed with the suspects throughout the period of her alleged abduction, while Joy remained at home and feigned ignorance, watching her parents’ anguish and emotional distress as they struggled to raise money for the supposed ransom. “All four suspects are currently in police custody and have voluntarily confessed to the crime. They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation. “The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Ajao Sunday Adewale, strongly condemns this act of betrayal and manipulation, particularly one perpetrated within the family. “He urges parents and guardians to pay close attention to their children’s emotional wellbeing and behavioral patterns, and to encourage regular, honest communication at home. “The CP warns that any attempt to exploit familial ties for criminal purposes will not be tolerated and will be met with the full weight of the law”, the statement added. https://dailypost.ng/2025/08/05/four-arrested-in-abuja-as-two-sisters-fake-kidnap-to-defraud-elderly-father/ |

Residents of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, were shocked following a viral video in which a staff of a well-known eatery allegedly admitted to being part of a kidnap syndicate. The video, which has spread rapidly across social media platforms, features an employee of Yan Doto Food Palace, a restaurant located near the Zamfara Government House, claiming involvement in abductions that recently rocked the Mareri area. The confession has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting swift reactions from civil society groups and youth organisations. In a statement released on Monday, the Zamfara State Youth Association expressed serious concern over the development. The association’s president, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba, described the revelation as “deeply disturbing,” citing the widespread fear it has generated among residents. “This revelation has caused serious concern, especially considering the restaurant’s proximity to a critical location like the Government House,” Abba stated. “Many are now questioning how such criminal operations could go unnoticed for so long, right under the nose of the government.” Calling for immediate and thorough action, the youth leader urged the nation’s security bodies to take the matter seriously. He urged the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate possible hideouts and collaborators aiding criminal gangs in the state. Abba also advised residents to be cautious, particularly in public places where suspected criminals may be blending in as everyday patrons or workers. As of press time, no official statement has been made by the security agencies. https://dailypost.ng/2025/08/04/panic-in-gusau-as-restaurant-worker-confesses-to-working-with-kidnappers/ |

The Katsina State House of Assembly has expressed serious concern over what it called the recent increase in bandits’ attacks on some communities in the state. The concern was raised at Wednesday’s plenary in Katsina, presided over by Speaker Nasir Yahaya-Daura. During the plenary, a motion of urgent public importance was presented by the lawmaker representing Dutsinma Constituency, Muhammad Abubakar-Khamis. Mr Abubakar-Khamis called on the government to intensify efforts by deploying more soldiers and other security personnel to parts of his constituency in view of the increasing attacks by terrorists. The lawmaker, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Security, stressed that the people in the area were living in fear, hence the need for urgent intervention, especially from the federal government. “There’s the need for the government to deploy more security operatives to Makera, Gammo, Karofi and Dabawa wards in Dutsinma Local Government Area. The attacks in these areas are increasing daily. The bandits recently killed residents, top security operatives, and also abducted other residents,” he said. While commending the state government’s efforts, he, however, called on the federal government to redouble its commitment to complement that of the state government. Some of the lawmakers who contributed to the motion expressed concerns over the situation, calling on the federal and state governments to urgently re-strategise. Following a series of contributions by the legislators, the parliament unanimously adopted the motion. The house has forwarded the request to the executive for immediate action to enhance the protection of citizens’ lives and property.Last June, President Bola Tinubu claimed he was doing well tackling bandits. Earlier that month, former Governor Nasir El-Rufai described Mr Tinubu as a “bandit” who became Nigeria’s leader. Kaduna, Kaduna state - Professor Muhammad Sani Bello, the Kaduna state commissioner of information, on Tuesday, July 29, officially resigned from his role. Reports seen by Legit.ng indicated that Bello, a former governorship candidate in the prominent northwest state, is set to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). After his 'voluntary resignation', Bello expressed "profound" gratitude to Governor Uba Sani for the opportunity to serve Kaduna state. His letter of resignation was sent to the office of AbdulKadir Meyere, the secretary to the state government (SSG) of Kaduna. Kaduna governor appoints Bello's replacement Meanwhile, Abdallah Yunus Abdallah, the senior special assistant on new media to Governor Sani, shared a piece of information that presented a different narrative. According to the statement posted by Abdallah on his known X (formerly Twitter) page, Governor Sani "relieved" Prof. Bello of his position. Subsequently, the Kaduna state No.1 citizen appointed Ahmed Maiyaki as the new commissioner of information. The statement shared by Abdallah reads in full: "The executive governor of Kaduna state, Senator Uba Sani (CON), has relieved Professor Muhammad Sani Bello of his position as Commissioner of Information and a member of the State Executive Council. "In a statement issued by the chief press secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the governor stated that Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki, the managing director of Kaduna state media corporation, has been appointed as the new commissioner of information. "The statement which wished Professor Sani Bello success in his future endeavours, acknowledged the former commissioner’s services as the pioneer commissioner of education in the Governor Uba Sani administration and commissioner of information." ADC, Kaduna politics, and Nasir El-Rufai Legit.ng reports that should Prof. Bello officially align with the ADC coalition platform, he would be working with former Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to oust Governor Sani and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election. Sani was El-Rufai’s political adviser when the latter served his first term as governor between 2015 and 2019. El-Rufai then supported Sani to replace Shehu Sani as the senator for the Kaduna Central district in 2019, before also supporting Sani in succeeding him in the 2023 election. He then fell out with Governor Sani. Presently, El-Rufai, 65, is one of the leaders of the ADC coalition platform—although he pledged his allegiance to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in March following his exit from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Primate Ayodele's prophecy on ADC coalition Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Primate Elijah Ayodele, the spiritual head of the INRI Evangelical Church, predicted that the ADC would collapse before the 2027 election. Ayodele explained that for the ADC to be relevant, it has to go the extra mile "physically and spiritually". https://www.legit.ng/politics/1666696-breaking-bello-resigns-uba-sanis-cabinet-reportedly-set-join-adc-coalition/ |
Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has directed significant personal donations toward social intervention projects across Nigeria, with the South East receiving the largest slice. Fresh figures released by data firm Statisense show that between January and July 2025, Obi spent a total of N576 million supporting charitable and social initiatives nationwide. South-East tops list of Obi's donation recipients A breakdown of the donations by geopolitical zone reveals a clear focus on Obi’s native South East, which received ₦415 million, about 72% of the entire sum. The North West and North Central followed distantly, each getting ₦60 million, while the South South received ₦35 million. The North East had the least allocation at ₦6 million. Online commentators say the numbers reflect both Obi’s commitment to philanthropy and the reality of regional priorities shaped by his political and personal background. Since the conclusion of the 2023 presidential election, Obi has kept a steady presence in public life largely through philanthropy, social engagement and issue-based commentary. Though the donations span multiple sectors, including health, education and direct community support, the figures show that the South East, which overwhelmingly supported him during the election, remains the main beneficiary. "If Obi becomes President, it's the Yoruba people who would suffer the most," a Nigerian commented on X (formerly Twitter). Nigerians react to Obi's beneficiary list Many Nigerians have dropped their takes on the list showing which of the Nigerian regions has benefited most from Obi's benevolent donations. Below are some of the reactions as seen on X; @drezeeric_eze said: "Charity begins at home ! SW have Otedolar , Tinubu and many people on Forbes! Everyone in SW is rich! Also they have sworn not to collect anything from Igbos. All their schools are brand new and Harvard standard!" @truebenny001 said: "Imagine if all the politicians have the decency to donate their personal money to education and healthcare in their regions, instead of buying wheelbarrows and calling it empowerment." @ibirogba2000 commented: "Tribal bigotry by donation from Obi.." @gudboyezay26 said: "His own money u are detailing it. Dont worry u will see ur waterloo soon. Someone own personal money." @de_generalnoni: Obi still carry beegotry to Yorubas in giving 🤣😂. Cleric curses politicians in Peter Obi’s presence Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a viral video capturing a powerful supplication by renowned Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Alkali Salihu Zaria, had stirred mixed reactions after he delivered a fiery prayer in the presence of former presidential candidate, Peter Obi. During an event in Kaduna on Monday, Sheikh Zaria made a bold spiritual declaration concerning Nigeria’s leadership. https://www.legit.ng/politics/1666666-peter-obi-donates-n576m-social-south-east-tops-list/ |
The United Kingdom government, on Tuesday, condemned the killing of 33 kidnap victims by bandits in Banga town, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, describing it as an “unspeakable crime.” The victims were murdered on Sunday despite the payment of a N50 million ransom. The attackers had earlier abducted over 50 residents from the community and later released 17 hostages, mostly women after receiving the ransom. Speaking during the launch of the State Expansion Programme for the Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell, an initiative of the National Counter Terrorism Centre in collaboration with the UK government, the UK Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Gill Lever, extended her condolences to the people of Zamfara. Lever said, “I want to express my condolences to the people of Zamfara State, that horrible kidnap where even when ransom was paid, only a few people were released and the others were murdered. “It’s an unspeakable crime that has impacts on society, on communities, on families. It damages people’s mental and physical well-being, retards economic progress and all the other things that we know well. And we must bring an end to this.” She stressed the need for collective efforts to curb the menace of kidnapping in Nigeria. Lever said, “We must stop this. We must limit this. Because we all feel passionately and keenly what the terrible impacts are of kidnapping. “So, my condolences to the people of that state and to the affected people and to their families and their friends. This is what we want to try and stop.” She said that the multi-agency Kidnap Fusion Cell has been a three-year initiative to create a collaborative response from Nigeria’s security forces to tackle the threat of kidnap across the country. According to Levers, the Multi-Agency Fusion Cell’s role was to support the Nigerian Police and Department of State Service kidnap response units nationwide by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data to the Office of the National Security Adviser, as well as providing trend-based information on kidnapping incidents by state. She said, “The Multi-Agency Fusion Cell and the training that’s going on this week comes out of a deep partnership that the United Kingdom and Nigeria have, called our Security and Defence Partnership. “It’s part of our overall strategic partnership, signed by our foreign ministers last year, and a partnership that’s based on mutual trust and mutual respect and mutual support. In the work that the UK Crime Agency has been doing with NCTC and the Nigerian Police and other stakeholders, very much grounded in those key principles and wanting to formulate a model that is for Nigeria, not the UK imposing its idea of what a kidnap fusion centre should look like, but something that you as the experts, you as the people that experience the reality of kidnaps, want and need and that speaks to your needs. “We met at a Security and Defence Partnership meeting over a few days in London a couple of weeks ago, and this step of rolling out the Multi-Agency Fusion Cell capability to states was something we agreed on. “So this week sees the next phase of collaboration. So Nigerian Police and DSS kidnap commanders from every state here in Abuja attending what we call the state expansion programme. And this will synergise the Multi-Agency Fusion and the state response teams to produce a joint effect greater than their individual entities.” https://punchng.com/uk-decries-killing-of-33-kidnap-victims-in-zamfara/ |
THIRTY-THREE kidnapped victims of Banga village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State were allegedly forced by their abductors to kill one another, after their relations had paid ransoms on them. The ICIR gathered on Tuesday, July 29, that the victims were among the 50 people, mostly women and children, abducted in February by a suspected notorious bandit, Bello Dansadiya, and his team during raids on Kaura Namoda town and Banga village in the Kaura Namoda LGA. A credible source confirmed to The ICIR that two people were killed during the raid, and three pregnant women were among those whisked away from the communities. “At the camp, three pregnant women delivered and all the babies died there. After payment of ransom in two installments, the victims were asked to slaughter themselves, in which 29 males and four females were slaughtered making 33. “It means 33 plus the three babies, making 36. If added with the two killed at the village during the abduction, that makes 38,” the source said. The ICIR reports that despite allegedly receiving N50 million ransom, paid in installments, the bandit leader refused to release all the abductees, ignoring repeated pleas from their relatives. The bandits released only 18 of the victims on Saturday, July 26, while the remaining were held as Dansadiya demanded additional ransom. Chairman of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Mannir Mu’azu Haidara, confirmed to journalists that the 18 rescued victims sustained varying degrees of injuries from torture and were receiving medical treatment at the Kaura Namoda General Hospital. The ICIR reported on Sunday, July 27, that a resident of Banga village, Sani Suleiman, appealed to the state government for intervention, claiming that bandits slaughtered 35 of the people they abducted after their families had paid N35 million ransom on them. Suleiman said the abductors kidnapped 53 people from the village and were demanding a ransom of one million naira for each victim. https://www.icirnigeria.org/kidnapped-victims-nursing-mothers-forced-to-kill-each-other-in-zamfara-after-paying-ransom/ |
Some Ghanaians have protested against Nigerians for allegedly engaging in mass prostitution and ritual killings in their country. In a viral video on Tuesday, the protesters in their large numbers, were seen wielding placards with various inscriptions such as “Armed robbery and violent attacks must stop; “Our health at stake due to mass prostitution; “Who protects the right and freedom of Ghanaians; “Nigerians are kidnapping and using people for rituals; “Our kids are getting missing because of Igbos,” among others. They also displayed a picture of a man who was allegedly killed by a Nigerian in the Accra area of the country. Speaking in the video, a lady in her mid-30s said Nigerians must go because of their anyhowness in their country. “Nigerians must go because you can’t be in someone’s country and be doing anyhow. Nigerians must go,” she yelled. Another protester said Nigerians have taken over their major markets and are perpetrating evil of sorts in their country. “These Igbo, they are in every part of the country and have targeted our markets. Not just Igbo, Nigerians are in almost every village, and our laws have not allowed foreigners to engage in real dealings. They are perpetrating evil in our country. They even have a Igbo king in Ghana. They have hijacked our lands. It is just a matter of time; we will conquer them and take over our country,” he stressed. Recall that a similar occurrence popularly christened “Ghana must go” happened in 1983 when the Nigerian government under President Shehu Shagari enacted a directive ordering about two million undocumented immigrants, many of whom were Ghanaians, to leave the country. “If they don’t leave, they should be arrested, tried and sent back to their homes. “Illegal immigrants, under normal circumstances, should not be given any notice whatsoever. If you break a law, then you have to pay for it,” the President had said. This action gave birth to a checked bag called “Ghana must go” into which the Ghanaians packed their belongings, and in turn became a symbol of exclusion and intolerance. As of the time of filing this report, the Ghanaian government has yet to comment on the situation and the plight of their countrymen on returning Nigerians to their country, irrespective of their status. https://punchng.com/nigerians-must-go-ghanaians-protest-alleged-prostitution-ritual-killings/ |
Radio Nigeria’s Prime 101.5FM Jimgbe in Kogi State has gone off air following a robbery attack in which transmission equipment worth millions of naira were stolen. Quoting the General Manager of the Station, Momoh-Jimoh Adeiza, Kogi Reports, a local publication, said the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday. The armed robbers were said to have operated uninterrupted for more than three hours. SPONSOR AD Adezia told reporters that they woke up to see that their station had been vandalised, with no trace of the armed men behind the incident. “This is a major attack on the station. We are currently off air because our equipment has been stolen by armed criminals. When they came, they tied up our security Man on duty to carry out their nefarious activities. Where do we go from here now?” “I am calling on security agencies to double their efforts in apprehending those criminals who have carried out this grievous crime. I have communicated with our zonal director on this sad development,” he said. Adeiza, however, called on the relevant authorities to come to the aid of the station so that it can come back on air again. Narrating his ordeal with the suspected criminals, the security man on duty, identified as Daniel Haruna, said the robbers were armed with dangerous weapons such as guns, cutlasses, adding that they moved away with copper parts of the feeder lines, 22 pieces of modules, armoured cables, generator batteries, and many more. “They were more than 10 armed criminals who attacked our station. They came around 1 am this Saturday morning with guns and cutlasses. When they pointed a torchlight on me, they immediately gripped me and tied me to a tree and blindfolded my eyes. “I could not scream because I was helpless. They operated for more than three hours before they left our station. I have never experienced this kind of thing in my life before,” he stated. Meanwhile, the Kogi State government has said that the vandalism of Radio Nigeria equipment in Kogi State is condemnable. Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, in a statement issued on Saturday, said the state government would work with security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to book. “We will work with the management of the station to ascertain the degree of vandalism and also get clues on what led to the unfortunate incident. “The Kogi State Government is committed to protecting all federal agencies within the state, saying efforts will be made to stop this from becoming a new normal. “We will be ready to render any possible support to the station in this trying period, as we urge federal agencies in the state to be security conscious and always inform the State Government if and when they need support,” he said. https://dailytrust.com/radio-nigeria-goes-off-air-in-kogi-as-robbers-attack-station-steal-equipment/ |

President Bola Tinubu has moved the meeting of the All Progressives Congress National Executive Committee expected to hold on Thursday to the Presidential Villa. A three -paragraph statement signed by Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the party, said it was due to logistical reasons. The statement read in part:”The All Progressives Congress (APC) announces that the meeting of the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled to be held on Thursday, 24th July, 2025, will now take place as follows: “Venue: Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja .Time: 2pm “The change of venue from the Party’s National Secretariat – 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja to the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja is due to logistical reasons.” Checks by Tribune Online revealed that Thursday meeting is the second instance the ruling party will be holding its NEC meeting at the seat of government. Recall that under the Muhammadu Buhari administration, the emergency meeting that dissolved the National Working Committee of the party led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and pronounced Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni as Chairman of a Caretaker Committee was held at Presidential Villa in year 2020. The APC NWC statement was silent on the gathering of national Caucus that normally precedes its NEC meeting. https://tribuneonlineng.com/suspense-as-tinubu-moves-apc-nec-meeting-to-presidential-villa/ |

Wike dares Senator Ireti Kingibe: ‘Go to satellite towns and campaign against me if you can’ Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a bold challenge to Senator Ireti Kingibe, daring her to visit Abuja’s satellite towns and criticize his performance in office if she truly believes he has failed as a minister. The minister in a statement, issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, was in response to Senator Kingibe’s remarks during a television interview on Monday night. In the interview, Kingibe had claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s “biggest mistake” was appointing Wike as Minister of the FCT. Reacting, Olayinka accused the Senator of being driven by desperation and political fear ahead of the 2027 elections. “She is already blinded by the spirit of her impending electoral woe and cannot see the massive transformation happening across Abuja and its satellite towns,” he stated. He continued: “It is funny that someone who is impersonating by using the name of Ambassador Baba Gana Kingibe, who is no longer her husband, believes that jumping from one television station to another to disparage the FCT Minister will revive her dead political career.” Olayinka then dared the Senator to take her criticisms directly to residents of communities such as Saburi, Dei Dei, Kabusa, Ketti, Yangoji, Pai, Gomani, Gishiri, Kwaita, Yebu, Sukuku, Ebo, and Ushafa—areas he said have benefitted significantly from new road projects and other developments. “She should mount the rostrum and tell the people of these towns that appointing Wike was a mistake. She can also go to the traders at Apo Mechanic Village, whose relocation dreams are finally being realised after 15 years, and tell them it was a mistake,” he said. “In Abaji, the Federal Capital Territory University (FCTU), which had been abandoned for nearly 15 years, is now undergoing massive infrastructural development. Also, general renovation of 22 schools has been completed in the last year, with more than 40 others currently being renovated,” Olayinka added. He described Kingibe’s criticisms as politically motivated, saying, “She knows that in 2027, she won’t be able to retain the Senate seat she accidentally got in 2023. The factor that brought her into the Senate is gone, so she’s attacking Wike to gain relevance.” Olayinka also accused the Senator of poor treatment of her aides. “Wike is not in the comity of frustrated politicians like Ireti ‘Kingibe’ who is treating her aides like slaves, refusing to pay their wages and entitlements for months,” he alleged. In a sharp personal swipe, Olayinka advised the Senator to own her identity: “At 71, a woman should have a clear identity, use her legitimate names, and stop using the name of a man she is no longer married to.” The exchange underscores a deepening rift between the FCT’s top political officeholders, as the battle for control and influence in Nigeria’s capital heats up ahead of the next election cycle. https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/wike-dares-senator-ireti-kingibe-go-to-satellite-towns-and-campaign-against-me-if-you-can/ |
