seunmsg:@seunmsg, if I were in your shoes, I’d have chosen silence on this one. Not every battle is worth fighting especially when the person you’re defending clearly crossed the line. His actions speak louder than any “may be” in your statement. |
Putindbutt:Mr. Charly, sometimes I truly wonder about the way we judge others. Have you ever paused to look inward and ask yourself if you’ve lived a life completely free of hurting anyone? This isn’t about defending Buhari, far from it sir. It's just about respecting the dead and focusing on bettering ourselves while we’re still here. People are starting to see certain things in you, some even call it cult-like. If that’s not who you are, then perhaps it’s time to show the world the real you. At the end of the day, we all carry our own flaws and no one is spotless." |
joelbooks:You are such a friend Mr. President. Thank you, sir. |

etokhana:I never ever like Buhari during his tenure as a President, because I know him and our family knows him well. Eventhough my family loved him so much before and after him got elected to become the President of Nigeria. But when someone dies even if he is your bitter enemy try to control yourself and pay the last respect to the death. It is a permanent certificate that we all must get and given to. Why the celebrations please? |

As political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 election, observers are keeping an eye on Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Kwankwaso, the NNPP presidential candidate in the 2023 poll, is a coveted figure whose next move could tilt the scales in the fiercely competitive northern region If he chooses to align with the ADC coalition led by the likes of Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir El-Rufai, and Peter Obi, it will be a gamble Legit.ng journalist Ridwan Adeola Yusuf has over 9 years of experience covering elections, politics, and governance in Nigeria. Kano, Kano state - Stakeholders in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition have confirmed that efforts were being made to win Mallam Rabiu Kwankwaso to their corner and secure Kano state’s mega votes in the 2027 election. As reported on Sunday, July 13, by The Punch, multiple sources in Kwankwaso's party, the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), confirmed that both ADC leaders had held several meetings with the ex-Kano state governor and other top NNPP figures. Kwankwaso reportedly holds meeting with ADC coalition leaders ahead of 2027 election Rabiu Kwankwaso faces tough decision moment as political heavyweights flood ADC. Photo credit: Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Source: Facebook The meeting, Legit.ng gathered, was to negotiate potential support for opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. Confirming efforts to win Mallam Kwankwaso over to the ADC camp, Babachir Lawal, a former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) and opposition figure, said: “It will be a big advantage if he joins us.” He added: “Some people are reaching out to him. I know people are meeting him. "Obviously, he is welcome (into the ADC coalition) because he is in the category of those who will come with a large number of supporters. Either as Kwankwaso and his supporters or as Kwankwanso and the NNPP. Either way, they are welcome.” Legit.ng learnt that apart from the ADC, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is also trying to win Kwankwaso over to their party. 'ADC can unseat Tinubu' — Dagogo Meanwhile, Farah Dagogo, a former house of representatives member and Rivers state governorship aspirant, has said the opposition ADC coalition can dislodge the APC and bring succour to Nigerians in 2027, if internal democracy and unity are prioritised. Dagogo told Vanguard in an interview published on Sunday, July 13: "I believe the coalition being forged within the ADC framework holds significant potential if built on genuine national interest and clear ideological grounding to replicate or even surpass what happened in 2015. The key will lie in cohesion, credibility, and commitment to democratic values. "The ADC-led coalition has every chance to become a formidable alternative capable of redefining Nigeria’s political landscape." https://www.legit.ng/politics/1664084-2027-election-kwankwaso-holds-meeting-adc-coalition-leaders-big-advantage/ |

AKURE – The Senior Pastor of The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa, has declared that only a joint presidential ticket between Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition stands a real chance of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. He stated this on Thursday in Akure, Ondo State capital, while speaking on the political manoeuvering to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government due to the economic downturn in the country. Pastor Giwa said that a united front between the two opposition heavyweights would be the most formidable challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He said: “The coalition will be better if Atiku and Obi come together. Only Atiku and Obi’s ticket can defeat the ruling party.” The cleric, however, warned that the alliance would fail if Peter Obi insisted on leading the ticket. According to him, the North would not rally behind an Obi candidacy, which would ultimately weaken the coalition’s chances. If Obi is picked as the presidential candidate for the coalition, I don’t see victory for the coalition party,” Pastor Giwa said. “Only Atiku-Obi ticket can defeat Tinubu because he can’t get the support of the Northerners, can’t get the Southerners, but can only get support from the Southeast where he comes from,” the cleric said. The cleric, while speaking with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Thursday, argued that Atiku remained the more viable candidate to head the coalition, adding that he believed the former vice president would willingly hand over power to the Southeast if elected. He said: “If Atiku becomes the next president, I’m sure he is more reliable to hand over power to the Southeast.” Pastor Giwa also expressed skepticism about the country’s readiness to elect a candidate from the Southeast, regardless of popularity. “As it is, if anybody from the Southeast is coming to contest against the ruling party, they won’t allow him to win no matter how popular he is,” he said. Pastor Giwa called on Peter Obi to demonstrate humility and political pragmatism by stepping down for Atiku in the interest of the coalition and the country. “If Obi should calm down and subject himself under Atiku, they are good to go. “He may want to step down considering his last presidential election. You know, he tested his popularity. “Obi will be willing because if he won’t step down, he wouldn’t have joined the coalition. He knows that when it comes to popularity and political strength, Atiku has it more than him, so he will be willing to step down, and that will be a good ticket for Nigeria,” Pastor Giwa said. https://independent.ng/coalition-atiku-obi-joint-ticket-can-send-tinubu-packing-giwa/ |
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has stated that nearly all the kidnappers and criminals arrested in the state since he assumed office are of Igbo origin. Soludo disclosed this at an interactive town hall meeting with Anambra indigenes in the diaspora, held at the Metro Points Hotel in New Carrollton, Maryland, United States. He said the claim that Fulani herders are behind most of the violence in the south-east is misleading and unfounded. His words: “99.99 per cent of kidnappers and other criminals arrested in the state since I assumed office three years ago have been Igbos. “In my three years and three months in office, nearly every kidnapper and armed criminal we have apprehended is Igbo. “Igbos are kidnapping and killing fellow Igbos, not Fulani herdsmen. Anambra belongs to all of us. Our progress is a shared responsibility.” The governor warned that many criminal elements masquerading as freedom fighters are in fact, Igbo youths engaged in violent acts for personal gain. “Let’s stop deceiving ourselves. Ask yourselves: how do these so-called liberators survive in the forests for months without local support? Who feeds them?” Soludo asked. He said the state government remains committed to tackling insecurity and fostering unity among Anambra citizens at home and abroad. https://politicsnigeria.com/99-99-of-kidnappers-in-anambra-are-igbos-not-fulani-herdsmen-soludo-reveals/ |
President Donald Trump has announced that Nigeria will be among countries facing an additional 10% tariff for aligning with what he described as the “anti-American policies of BRICS.” The U.S. president made the declaration on Sunday via a post on Truth Social, adding fresh uncertainty to global trade relations. Trump’s announcement, which did not elaborate on any specific policy of BRICS, came as the group’s meeting is underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Brazilian government, on January 17, 2025, announced the formal admission of Nigeria as a partner country of the grouping. Nigeria became the ninth partner country of BRICS, joining Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan. This partner-country category was created during the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan in October 2024. News continues after this ad The bloc’s leaders appeared to take aim at Trump’s sweeping tariff policies in a joint statement on Sunday, warning against “unjustified unilateral protectionist measures, including the indiscriminate increase of reciprocal tariffs.” Without calling out the U.S., the leaders voiced “serious concerns about the rise of unilateral tariff and non-tariff measures which distort trade and are inconsistent with WTO rules,” warning that the “proliferation of trade-restrictive actions” threatens to disrupt the global economy and worsen the existing economic disparities. “Any Country aligning itself with the anti-American policies of BRICS will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10% Tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social Sunday evening, stateside. News continues after this ad President Tinubu reaffirms commitment to BRICS partnership At the Summit, President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the BRICS partnership and the Global South. In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu declared: “Nigeria, therefore, associates with what I have heard today and all that has happened in BRICS. The next issues are financial restructuring and reevaluation of the global structure.” He noted that environmental degradation, climate crisis, and global healthcare inequalities were shared concerns pertinent to Africa. “Africa has contributed the least to global emissions but suffers the most,” he added. President Tinubu emphasised the need for a new path of justice, anchored in fairness, sustainable technology transfer, and accessible financing, so that emerging economies can fully benefit from various initiatives. “The African continent is creating the path through the African Carbon Market Initiative and the Great Green Wall. We believe that COP-30 will strengthen our resolve to adopt a strategic approach to achieving a healthy global environment. “Nigeria strongly believes in South-South cooperation. We can, therefore, not be passive participants in global decision-making on financial restructuring, debt forgiveness, climate change, environmental issues, and healthcare. “We must be the architects of a future that addresses the specific needs and concerns of youths, who represent 70 per cent of our population in Nigeria. Therefore, Nigeria remains guided by our long-term vision, 2050, and nationally determined contribution. “We are taking bold steps to accelerate renewable energy adoption, mainstream climate action, promote nature-based solutions, strengthen urban resilience, champion South-South cooperation, align with the global renewal framework and achieve universal health coverage for all,” the President stated. President Tinubu also said that addressing non-communicable diseases must remain a collective health concern. “As we approach COP-30 and look to strengthen the global health system, we believe the BRICS must not only be a bloc for emerging economies but also a beacon for emerging solutions and resolutions rooted in solidarity, self-reliance, sustainability, and shared prosperity of a common future. “Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to strategic collaboration that translates into sustainable and inclusive development for all,” he noted. What you should know The BRICS group includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Iran. The grouping describes itself as “a political and diplomatic coordination forum for countries from the Global South and for coordination in the most diverse areas.” BRICS goals include improving economic, political and social cooperation among its members, and “increasing the influence of Global South countries in international governance.” The Trump administration has said that tariffs announced in April will take effect on August 1, instead of July 9, for countries that have not reached an agreement with the U.S. In April, Trump announced a 90-day pause on the steep tariffs he had unveiled just days prior on most trading partners. That pause is due to expire on Wednesday, sparking concern among investors and U.S. trading partners. https://nairametrics.com/2025/07/07/nigeria-to-face-additional-10-tariff-for-aligning-with-brics-trump/ |

The Kano State government has banned purchase of scrap materials from North East states. The ban comes after a bomb explosion that killed five people and left many injured at a metal scrap factory in Hotoro area of Kano metropolis. The state’s Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Ibrahim Umaru, announced the ban at a press conference in Kano on Wednesday. SPONSOR AD According to the commissioner, preliminary findings showed that the improvised explosive devices used in the attacks were hidden in the scraps believed to be imported from insurgency-hit north east. He said, “In light of the recent bomb blasts that tragically claimed five lives and injured several others, we have traced the origin of the explosives to scrap materials brought in from the Northeast. “That region has long been affected by Boko Haram activities, and we cannot afford to take any chances. “This directive is a preventive measure to protect the lives and property of our citizens. All dealers in scrap materials are hereby instructed to immediately stop importing such items from the Northeast. Anyone found violating this order will face the full weight of the law,” Umaru added. The commissioner, however, said the state was not banning the scrap business entirely, but is targeting imports from areas flagged as security risks. “We are not banning the business of scrap entirely. But bringing them in from high-risk zones without thorough scrutiny endangers everyone,” he added. https://dailytrust.com/bomb-blast-kano-bans-metal-import-from-north-east/ |

Once convicted you cannot be president, governor, EFCC boss warns Nigerian students “Surround yourself with good people, friends and acquaintances that will help you grow in wisdom and integrity,” said Mr Olukoyede. Tinubu with governors[Credit; Babajide Sanwo-Olu on X.com] Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has urged students to shun criminal acts, warning that they will forfeit the opportunity to hold any public office if convicted of a crime. “Anyone who engages in financial crimes is on a path that leads to jail. Once convicted, such a person becomes an ex-convict and loses the opportunity to hold any public office in Nigeria. That is a heavy price to pay for associating with the wrong crowd,” Mr Olukoyede said. According to a statement by the EFCC on Wednesday, the anti-graft czar gave this charge during the induction of students of Excellent Kiddies Academy, Bwari, Abuja, into EFCC’s Integrity Club. Panic gripped residents of Ogboji in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Monday as gunmen stormed a meeting venue and opened fire on attendees, killing at least 19 people. According to Vanguard, eyewitnesses said the attackers, who arrived in two Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), targeted a gathering believed to be composed of indigenes of Ebonyi State. The motive behind the gruesome attack remains unclear. Sources, however, suggest the assault may be connected to renewed enforcement efforts of the banned sit-at-home order in the region. Others claim the massacre may have stemmed from internal disputes, noting that the assailants allegedly demanded to see the minutes of the meeting before unleashing gunfire. “They came suddenly, asking for the minutes of the meeting. Before anyone could respond, they started shooting. It was terrifying,” one survivor, who declined to be named for security reasons, told newsmen. The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the attack but gave a different casualty figure. In a statement released Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said 10 people were confirmed dead, while nine others were rushed to the hospital with injuries. “The armed criminals came in two Sport Utility Vehicles and attacked a gathering, shooting sporadically,” Ikenga said. “The victims were rushed to the hospital, and regrettably, 10 people were confirmed dead. The bodies have been deposited in the morgue.” He added that a combined team of police officers and other security agencies had been deployed to the area and had taken control of the scene. “The command strongly condemns this act of violence and is working with relevant stakeholders to ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” the statement read. Naija News reports that the attack has sparked widespread fear across Ogboji and neighbouring communities, with residents calling on security agencies to intensify patrols and restore confidence in the area. A community leader who spoke under anonymity said, “This is not the first time we are seeing strange faces in the area. But this kind of mass killing has never happened before. Our people are afraid.” As investigations continue, the state government has yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report. The latest tragedy adds to the growing list of security challenges plaguing Anambra and other parts of the Southeast. https://www./2025/07/01/19-killed-as-gunmen-storm-meeting-venue-in-anambra/ |

By Phrank Shaibu As Nigeria inches towards the defining moment of the 2027 general elections, one thing is clear: the battlefield is already drawn, and the gloves are off. It is no longer a mere contest between parties; it is now a Battle Royale — a historic confrontation between the ‘Urban Bandits’ who hijacked the system in 2023, and the ‘Political IDPs’ — the displaced patriots forced out of the corridors of power but not out of relevance. Let’s be blunt. The so-called Urban Bandits are not reformers; they are political gangsters in agbada — powered by bullion vans, electoral manipulation, and Machiavellian deceit. They have no vision, only ambition. They rigged themselves into office, but not into the hearts of the people. Their leadership has birthed suffering, deepened insecurity, and turned hope into a currency of fraud. On the other side stand the Political IDPs — those who were cast out not by failure, but by fraud. They are the true custodians of Nigeria’s democratic struggle. Men and women who have paid their dues in the fight for justice, equity, and development. They are political refugees only in form, not in influence. If anything, they have gained strength in exile. And here’s why the Political IDPs will beat the Urban Bandits in 2027: The Urban Bandits climbed to power by deception. They promised “renewed hope,” but delivered renewed hardship. Fuel is unaffordable, the naira has collapsed, and food prices have become a daily affliction. Nigerians, now awake, remember who truly stood with them when it mattered. The Political IDPs are not tainted by this failure. They are seen as the robbed, not the robbers — and in 2027, the robbed will rise with the people behind them. The Urban Bandits are already imploding. Their house, is a house divided against itself — racked by infighting, betrayal, and competing godfathers. The so-called “renewed hope” was nothing but a resume for recycled cronies and unfit sycophants. On the other hand, the Political IDPs are uniting. Driven by a shared hunger for justice and a common pain, they are coming together — from Atiku to Obi, from Rotimi Amaechi to El-Rufai — not just to win, but to rescue. The Urban Bandits used propaganda, fake bishops, and state machinery to silence truth. But 2027 will not be 2023. Nigerians now know who is who. The moral credentials of the Political IDPs may vary, but none of them wears the stench of ballot snatching, academic fraud, and identity theft. When moral bankruptcy becomes state policy, even the indifferent become revolutionaries. The Sorosoke Generation, and millions of disillusioned first-time voters from 2023 are not going away. If anything, they are getting angrier, louder, and more strategic. The Urban Bandits may have mocked their hashtags, but they will soon learn that hashtags grow into hurricanes. The Political IDPs, particularly with youth-inclusive coalitions, are positioned to harness this energy and translate frustration into votes. No amount of propaganda can cover hunger. No PR can spin poverty. When salaries are worthless, businesses are folding, and hope is taxed, no amount of billboard worship or ‘thank you’ rallies can save you. The Urban Bandits have failed the economy, and Nigerians are counting every kobo. In contrast, the Political IDPs are armed with alternatives — not slogans. The global community is watching. The embarrassment of the Tinubu presidency — from gaffes on the world stage to the opacity of his past — is not lost on foreign diplomats and partners. In private conversations, many now view 2023 as a mistake they hope Nigerians will correct in 2027. This sentiment will translate into less tolerance for rigging and more appetite for credible alternatives. Conclusion: The Tables Are Turning. In 2023, the Urban Bandits outwitted a divided opposition. But in 2027, it is no longer about wits — it is about will. The Political IDPs have suffered long enough. They have regrouped, retooled, and reawakened. Their pain has become purpose. Their exile has become a weapon. And their hunger — not for power, but for justice — is now shared by millions of Nigerians. The Battle Royale is coming. And this time, it will not be fought in backroom deals or pre-recorded speeches. It will be fought in the streets, on the ballots, and in the hearts of the people. And when the dust settles, history will remember that the Political IDPs rose — and the Urban Bandits fell. *Phrank Shaibu, is S.A Public Communication to the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar |
Reno Omokri, former presidential aide, has cautioned northern Nigerians against supporting Peter Obi for president, warning that it could lead to marginalization similar to what befell Northern Cameroon after the resignation of Ahmadou Ahidjo in 1982. In a post on X, Omokri said the Hausa and Fulani have become the most marginalized ethnic groups in Cameroon under President Paul Biya, who, according to him, reneged on promises made to Ahidjo. He warned that supporting Obi and the coalition he represents could result in a similar fate for northern Nigeria. “But in Nigeria, Mutanen Arewa has a Southern friend they can rely on, in President Bola Tinubu,” Omokri said. He described Tinubu as a man of loyalty and integrity, recalling how the president supported Muhammadu Buhari’s successful bid for the presidency after three failed attempts. “General Buhari had tried thrice without Asiwaju Tinubu and failed each time. But in 2015, Jagaban stood with him. And that fidelity made the difference that led to victory,” he said. Omokri questioned Obi’s record on issues affecting the north, including his alleged silence on the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). “Today, millions of innocent Nigerian citizens will be forced to observe the infamous Monday sit-at-home in the southeast. Has this same Peter Obi ever condemned IPOB or their sit-at-home?” he asked. Omokri also criticized Obi’s choice of campaign coordinators during the 2023 election, noting that in Sokoto, considered Nigeria’s most Islamic state, Obi named a Christian, Ifeanyi Ezeagu, as coordinator. He said Obi also named one John Ezeigbe as campaign coordinator for Lagos. https://politicsnigeria.com/just-in-reno-omokri-warns-northern-nigeria-against-backing-peter-obi-in-2027-election/ |

The police command in Imo says it has arrested a 42-year-old suspected child trafficker and rescued 12 alleged stolen children. The command’s spokesman, Henry Okoye, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Owerri on Monday. Mr Okoye stated that the suspect, a female who hails from Umudim Ohekelem in Ngor-Okpala LGA, was arrested on June 20 along the Owerri-Aba Expressway during a stop-and-search operation. He explained that the arrest of the suspect led to the uncovering of a disturbing child-trafficking network that specialised in exploiting minors and using them for street begging in Aba. “Upon her arrest, the suspect was found with several children whose appearance and condition immediately aroused suspicion. “Consequently, the case was referred to the IGP X-Squad Unit for discreet investigation,” he said. Mr Okoye said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to trafficking children from Ngor-Okpala to Aba, where they are forced into street begging. He added that the suspect also disclosed that proceeds from their activities were allegedly sent to a motherless babies’ home in Okenyi, Eche LGA in Rivers, where she claimed to be employed. He stated that the 12 rescued children, all between the ages of five and 13, were from various communities in the Ngor-Okpala LGA. “Presently, the children are in safe custody, and efforts are ongoing in collaboration with relevant agencies to identify and reunite them with their biological families,” he said. Mr Okoye added that anyone with useful information on how the children could be reunited with their families should contact the command via the X-Squad Unit or through the following numbers: 0803 477 3600 or 0816 008 7155. Police commissioner Aboki Danjuma condemned all forms of child trafficking and warned that anyone found indulging in the act would face the wrath of the law. The Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Hashimu Dungurawa, has stated that the resignation of the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, was not a voluntary resignation but rather a forced resignation from office. Naija News reports that Dungurawa made this assertion while reacting to Ganduje’s resignation from his position last Friday, contradicting official claims that the former Kano governor resigned due to health reasons. Speaking to journalists in Kano, the NNPP chieftain claimed that Ganduje’s actions while in office aligned with the NNPP’s interests and worked against President Bola Tinubu and the APC. He said, “Politically, we are not happy with Ganduje’s resignation, because he was doing what we wanted him to do there. He was working to ensure that APC and Tinubu do not succeed. From what he was doing, whether you like it or not, he was an enemy of Tinubu and APC. “Ganduje succeeded in technically destroying Tinubu. He didn’t resign; we believe Tinubu understood what he was doing, and that was why they removed him. “If you are between 50 and 70 years old, you are on medical treatment almost every day. So why did he accept the appointment if he knew he was old? It’s not a matter of sickness. They simply realised he wanted to destroy their party, and that is why he was removed overnight.” On speculations that Ganduje’s exit may pave the way for Kwankwaso’s return to APC, Dungurawa said, “That is not the reason. If that were the case, he would have resigned when the video of Kwankwaso at the Villa surfaced, but he didn’t. It’s a lie. They are just making noise. “This is related to the corruption charges brought against Ganduje in connection with the forthcoming Anambra election. Some candidates influenced him and took evidence to Tinubu. That was why they said he had to resign. It’s his usual habit of corruption that got him removed from the party.” The NNPP Chairman who said there was nothing wrong with any political move Kwankwaso makes, added, “I am not Kwankwaso, but I am one of his loyalists, and we have always said that wherever Kwankwaso goes, we will follow him. So, there’s nothing wrong with whichever party he chooses.
