Thecassanova: Who does he wanna partner Kante with. We don’t have a sit deep DM like Rice & pairing with kova or jorg never worked in the past.
I hope we are not hoping on Jorginho-Kovacic combo sha. Both can’t play progressive football, only safe passes & are still deficient in positioning & defensive duties. A manager can’t change the way of play of 26, 29yrs old players.
3 years we’ve watch them, under Sarri, under Lampard, now under TT. They both limited & a manager like Tuchel will realize this soon. We need a proper DM to take us out of this midfield mystery that have plagued us for years. Our Midfield has been problematic with compatibility issues for years and we don't know when this will be rectified. For the present I think a pairing of Jorginho-Kovacic, Kante-Kovacic and Gilmour-Mount will work we can as well try Christensen. |

“I think he’s the strongest in the double six, the centre and the heart of the game. Gives him little more freedom than when he plays a single six, what he can do.
“But for me he is a double six because we can use his energy and we can use his range and his volume in his game. His ability to recuperate and recover balls everywhere on the pitch. He is a guy who is a big, big helper for everybody, with the mentality of a helper, a water carrier, but at the same time a world class player who played a crucial role in the World Cup win for France.
“That’s why he’s super important to have him and for me the double six is the best role because it gives him a bit more freedom than the single six which demands a bit more discipline on the position and maybe cuts his wings a little bit, but I am sure he can also play there.” - Tuchel on Kante |

timbros: The question is, how long can they sustain the intensity of this press? Quarter season? Half season? Full season?
Did TT experiment with 3-4-3 or has the formation come to stay? TT is known as a 4-3-3 coach right from his Mainz days. I don't understand the 3 at the back today.
Only time will tell. Let's watch and see. Tuchel vary his formations and is not known for sticking to one particular formation, he used 3 at the back while he was at PSG and Dortmund. If Kovacic and Jorginho stays fit they will fit perfectly against teams who will sit back, I wouldn't like Kante to pair with either of them in a two-man midfield it will be too sterile. Against teams who are likely to come at us a midfield 3 of Jorginho, Kovacic and Kante will be good for a start |

donjazet: The sheer incompetence of this board is baffling. They are just taking the fans for a ride. They have continued to exhibit their failure of stratgem and long term planning and many times over the years, we suffer from a grossly imbalanced team and mishmash of incompatible players brought upon by the constant change of managers and we direct our ire towards the players and coaches instead of this incompetent board that is the root cause of all these.
Alas, I was one of the few people here against the hiring of lampard as a coach. I remember arguing with people here as to why we shouldn't have sacked sarri yet or hired a rookie because he is our legend. Just as I was against sacking Conte to hire sarri.
This board will deceive us into thinking they know what they are doing, and many at times, they just don't.
Why did we hire sarri when we already knew that he had never won a trophy in his career?? We were told we wanted him to teach us his pattern. Then why not give him ample time? Why would we hire Frank lampard when we know he knows nothing about coaching yet? We were told we wanted someone much closer to us, someone who genuinely cared for the club, who was one of us, someone who will believe in our youth. Then why not stick with him till the end of the season at least and give him that benefit of doubt?
Now, no13 would come and also make his own list of players to fit his pattern and once again, we would be left with good players who are just incompatible or don't fit the manager's ideology. And we would turn on the manager and the players. And the cycle will continue going around.
SUCH A DYSFUNCTIONAL CLUB. When are we going to talk about the fraud Marina? |

OJURONGBE1: I have a question guys. How does the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Harry Redknapp, Guus Hiddink, Vicente Del Bosque, Jupp Hyckenes, Marcelo Bielsa, Carlo Ancelotti & to an extent Diego Someone & Jurgen Klopp able to keep their players in check from revolting against them? How were they able to manage unhappy players causing unrest in the dressing room ?
Is it because they were older /experienced coaches? Or because they handled their players transfers separately as against what we've been experiencing at Chelsea, where the board meddle in the transfer business? They had much power in the affairs of their clubs than modern coaches like Guardiola, Mourinho, Conte, Pochettino, Tuchel etc
I could recall when CR7 & David De Gea pushed for moves to Real Madrid but Sir Alex maintained his stance & relegated them to the bench for few matches before recalling them.
Cc ibime Afrodoc airmark Seankafor Nihilistjnr Amoto94 Bikeman Donjazet Lordfalcao Rooftops raumdeuter hensben My view is in line with what Nihilistjnr and AfroDoc stated the structure and circumstances surrounding football business have changed significantly in the past Managers have maximum control of the affairs of a football club with little to no presence of Technical Directors/Director of Football. Presently the structure and circumstances have changed with players now wielding maximum powers due to their marketability and political influence, a player/group of players can wreck a club/manager by well calculated move so it's in the interest of managers to have them on their side if they don't have maximum support from board members/owner. Managers who have absolute power over their players these days are due to the fact that they're excellent man-managers with proven track-records or they make it known to the owners that they would like to have full control of footballing decisions prior to their hiring eg Pep Guardiola at ManCity and Ralf Rangnick |

hoopLA: Ogbeni its a cruel game.
Football was always about results.
Lampard didn't get them.
The game is defined by the culpability of the coach for bad performances and individual errors.
Its just the way of the world. Football is judged by number of outcomes no doubt but sometimes processes should be looked at first instead of outcomes. If you are not going to back a rookie don't hire the rookie. I didn't say he's not blameless but will you blame him for Werner's near misses? Havertz poor games due to bad physical condition? James poor positioning? Jorginho lack of legs? Kovacic poor decision making in the final third? Rudiger's poor defending? And Kante's rapid decline?
Fat Frankie the Super Legend selected all those guys making those continuous errors.
The buck stops at his table. |

donjazet: Amoto94, what's your thought on this? It is a sad development. I knew Lampard have a lot to learn when we Hired him and sounded the alarm before he was hired him but I was fully onboard when he was handed over the reigns. If the board were not going to back him through thick and thin to see out the project why hire him in the first place? To pacify the fans or warm up to media? The results have been underwhelming putting everything into perspective but the coach is not at fault for majority of the lackluster performances, from players committing silly mistakes to lack of energy in key moments. On the Tuchel appointment, he is a fantastic student of the game whom I rank alongside Pep, Sarri, Bielsa, Klopp, Conte when it comes to positional play and attacking with purpose but he is a combustible character when he doesn't get what he wants. For him to succeed he need to unite the players as the dressing room will be divided at present, the season is still salvageable especially with FA and a top four finish within sight. I hope he gives Gilmour and CHO a good run of games with Havertz playing centrally. |
