There are strong indications that the efforts of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stabilise the naira may have started yielding the expected results.http://leadership.ng/blogposts/505219/speculators-get-burnt-naira-gains-value |

Things would have been better for us if Jonathan did not let dat dasuki nd d rest to empty our treasury and use it for campaign. Let us tell ourselves the truth, even if Jonathan will be on the seat today, we wil face the same problem or even worse. Do you want the government to perform magic and fill the foreign reserve that Jonathan watched his aides loot it? |

Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), yesterday, threatened that if anything happens to its detained leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr Nnamdi Kanu following allegations that he was being denied access to food and toiletries and had been subjected to serious intimidation and harassment by some prison officials in Kuje Prison, that the action, if true, would attract a protest never heard of in Nigeria before. Addressing newsmen in Nnewi, Anambra state, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Officer, Mr Emma Powerful, claimed that the inhuman treatment being meted to Kanu was meant to demoralise him “as directed by the Federal Government’s agents, who are now convinced that he will be set free by the court at the end of the day and they now resorted to denying him access to food in order to starve him to death.” Similarly, Ogirishi Igbo, Igbo spiritual leader, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has appealed to the federal government to, unconditionally release Mr Kanu without further delay, so that Igbo elders could talk with him on his group’s agitation for Biafra. He added that the agitation for Biafra would be more pronounced, if anything happened to him in prison. source: http://sunnewsonline.com/new/ipob-threatens-showdown-over-allegations-that-kanu-is-starved-in-prison/ |
•Sacks Orhii, Sola Omole, Odumodu, 23 others •Appoints Akabueze, Dabiri-Erewa aides From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye & Magnus Eze, Abuja In what seemed a fall-out of the budget mess, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday appointed Mr. Tijjani Mohammed Abdullahi as the new Director-General (Budget). He replaced Mr. Yahaya Gusau This is even as the President hit the civil service yesterday with the immediate sack of 26 Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of parastatals and agencies. These include those of National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON and Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Dr. Paul Orhii, Dr Joseph Odumodu and Mr Sola Omole respectively. A statement announcing Abdullahi’s appointment said he is a banker of repute with experience in managing public finance. “The new Director-General (Budget) is expected to work with the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma to efficiently deliver on the mandates of the Budget Office of the Federation,” the statement by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President, (Media & Publicity), said. It also said Buhari approved the appointment of Mr. Ben Ifeanyi Akabueze as the Special Adviser on Planning to the Minister of Budget and National Planning. Mr. Akabueze is the former past Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget in Lagos State. In a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, the President has also approved that the most senior officers in the parastatals, agencies and councils should oversee the activities of the organizations pending the appointment of substantive CEO. Others affected are CEOs of Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Petroleum Equalization Fund. Others are Nigeria Railways Corporation (NRC), Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Nigeria Investment Promotion Council (NIPC), Bank of Industry (BoI), National Centre for Women Development (NCWD), Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Nigerian Export-Import Bank and National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic In Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP). Lawal said Buhari however, thanked them for their invaluable services to the nation and wished them well in their future endeavours. Meanwhile in the Ministry of Information and Culture, all the bosses in the six parastatals got the boot. Their sack was announced by the Minister, Alhaji Lai Muhammad through a statement issued by his Special Assistant, Mr Seguu Adeyemi. The ministerº announced the disengagement in a meeting with the CEOs of the NTA Omole, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Mallam Ladan Salihu, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Sam Worlu, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr. Ima Niboro, Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Mr. Emeka Mba and the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri. Adeyemi said the minister directed the affected bosses to hand over to the most senior officials in their various establishments. He also thanked them for their service to the nation and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours. Daily Sun gathered that government needed to retool and rejig its information machinery in line with the change agenda of the present administration. Meanwhile, mixed reactions trailed their disengagements across the parastatals in Abuja yesterday. At NAN, some staffers said the sack was long overdue; they were jubilating. But in the NBC, the recent travails of Mr. Mba many of the workers had expected him to drive the on-going digitalisation policy to its logical end. In another development, Buhari has approved the appointment of a former member of the House of Representatives, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, as his Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora. Though no official statement has been made yet, she was in the Presidential Villa yesterday to pick her appointment letter. source: http://sunnewsonline.com/new/budget-mess-buhari-fires-dg/ |

No matter how secure you think your devices are, someone could access your data if they put their mind to it. It's just the reality of the Information Age, but you should still do everything in your power to make yourself less of a target forhackers. In an extensive piece for The Wall Street Journal this week, Geoffrey A. Fowler laid out a five-step checklist that shouldn't take more than an hour to complete, and might be the difference between having your data stolen or not. Here are just a few of the most important steps you should take: First, update everything. Start with the operating system, even if you've set your Mac or PC to install OS updates automatically. It never hurts to check. If you have an iPhone, you can make sure you're up to date in Settings > General >Software Updates. Android users should look for Settings > System Updates. And unless you have a great reason for it, make sure that your apps are being updated automatically on your smartphone as well. The next step might be the most important: fix your passwords. The average person uses the same few passwords (if not just one password) for nearly every account they own. Download a password manager (I use 1Password), generate a complex password that won't be cracked in seconds and apply it to your Google, Facebook or Twitter account. Rinse and repeat. It's also a good idea to turn on two-factor authentication, which requires you to supply additional information when you login. It can be a bit of a hassle, but it's far better than the alternative of having to reclaim a stolen account. Finally, you can be doing a lot more to keep your Internet browsing private and secure by fixing a few things on your browser. Every so often, clear your browsing data and all of the saved passwords. If the option in your browser'sSettings menu isn't thorough enough, try CCleaner. You can also activate Do Not Track, install an extension like Ghostery and, of course, disable Adobe Flash once and for all. Follow all of these steps and read Fowler's full piece at WSJ, and you'll be well on your way to leading a safer, more secure life. Why is all this allegations against fulani alone? ur report is biased and full of hatred to the fulani's. A fulani only fights for revenge he cannot fight just like that. The case in Jos for instance is the people of jos that started by killing their wifes, children and cows. When a fulani man wins the chairmanship election in 2007 in jos, how many hausa's and fulani's are killed just because one of their own won the election instead of the native jos people? Why didnt u include that in your write-up? we all have problems and we just have to understand our difference b4 this will end. This will never end by just criticizing one tribe and the other we are 1 let us unite. |
