PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Left Anambra Without Tangible Progress – Bashir Ahmad by Amumaigwe: 1:37pm On Jan 08, 2025
zero8zero:
Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to ex-President Mohammadu Buhari, has slammed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, over his consistent criticism of the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government.

DAILY POST reports that Obi had on several occasions, tackled the All Progressives Congress, APC, administration over some policies perceived to be unfavourable to Nigerians.

In a post on his official X handle on Tuesday, Ahmad said Obi’s antecedents do not match his current claims.
According to Ahmad, there was no tangible progress in Anambra State when Obi served as governor of the state for eight years.

Tinubu's government which you were part of for 8 years ran Nigeria aground and Peter Obi and Anambra is your problem? A man came third in an election, yet the so-called winners are still worried about him two years on. Isn't that ridiculous?

PoliticsRe: Retirement: Top Generals Get $20,000 Medical Allowance, Bullet-proof SUV, Others by Amumaigwe: 4:03pm On Jan 07, 2025
femisplash:
The headline is a bit too screaming, the media refuses to capture the broader issues of the Harmonized terms and conditions of service (HTACOS) but aims at achieving a myopic objective - conditioning the minds of the people to generate wider controversies.
Let's get to the meat of it, perhaps the summary of the intendment of the HTACOS. The purpose is to ensure efficiency in the management of the members of the armed forces. It captures the issues of promotion, welfare, health, and renumeration of members of the armed forces.
Also instructive is the fact that these terms and conditions of service is being reviewed every five years, the last time was in 2017.
For groups of highly dedicated servicemen who have been at the trenches of war for over two decades, I feel like they deserve every precious penny given to them.
Rather, the media failed to inform and enlighten the general public how the HTACOS cuts across the rank and file whereby every member of the armed forces are a beneficiary, the media only focuses on the retirement benefits for service chiefs. I think it's unfair to the entire family of the armed forces and our military deserves far more respect than unreasonable scrutiny in the media.
Can you list their achievements on the security landscape of Nigeria for those two decades? This will help buttress your points and maybe justify these very outrageous severance packages.

I posted a previous topic about my divorce with my wife and i got alot of advice on this platform which really encouraged & have me strength.

I'm really grateful for the nairaland community. The only issue i'm still battling with right now is how to move on, i'm trying everyday to forget the past, but the more i try, the more it's becoming fresh in my heart and the pains too. I won't lie to you it's difficult. Sincerely sometimes i cry and the thoughts of ending my life comes and goes. I don't drink, I don't smoke, neither do i womannize and worst of all i don't have much friends cos I'm more of an introvert.

A snippet of the entire problem is that most times we have an issue and she leaves the house, i've always been the one going to speak to her mum, plead and bring them back home, that's why whenever there's problem and she goes back to her mom's place, nobody from her family would contact me to even hear my side because I've become like a fool to them cos they know i'll still come. This last one that she left, we just had a little issue and she packed a her things and left. So many people not to go to her family house and beg this time around since i didn't send them packing. I swear guys, i've forgiven and tolerated what 90% of men won't forgive nor tolerate from her.

Please guys help a brother with more advice, how do i move on?

Let him conclude his legal defence in court and the outcome will indicate if that path can be, explored to serve as a deterrent to other legal professionals who do not know the ethics of their profession and deliberately cast aspersions on the legal system.
The question then is why the prosecution is hurrying to debar him over a matter that is still

PoliticsRe: Open Letter To PBAT: Rename UNN After MKO Abiola - LivingSage by Amumaigwe: 7:22pm On Dec 19, 2024
LivingSage:
An Open Letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR

Proposal to Rename the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in Honour of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, GCFR

Your Excellency,

I trust this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I write to you as a concerned citizen, deeply appreciative of Nigeria's rich history and the pivotal figures who have shaped our nation's democratic journey. In this regard, I humbly propose the renaming of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), to honour the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, GCFR.

Chief Abiola, born on August 24, 1937, in Abeokuta, was a distinguished businessman, philanthropist, and politician whose life was marked by an unwavering commitment to democracy and social justice. His victory in the June 12, 1993, presidential election, widely regarded as Nigeria's freest and fairest, was a testament to his broad-based support across ethnic and religious lines. Despite the annulment of the election results and his subsequent incarceration, Chief Abiola remained steadfast in his pursuit of democratic ideals until his untimely death on July 7, 1998. His enduring legacy was further recognized when he was posthumously awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) in 2018 by Former President Muhammadu Buhari, and June 12 was declared Nigeria's Democracy Day in his honour.

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, established in 1960, stands as a beacon of Academic excellence and National unity. Founded by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, it was the first indigenous University in Nigeria, embodying the vision of a nation capable of charting its own educational and developmental course. The university's motto, "To Restore the Dignity of Man," resonates profoundly with Chief Abiola's lifelong dedication to human rights, democracy, and the upliftment of the Nigerian people.

Renaming UNN after Chief Abiola would serve multiple purposes:

1. National Unity: It would symbolize the bridging of regional and ethnic divides, reflecting Chief Abiola's pan-Nigerian appeal and the university's national character.

2. Honoring Democratic Sacrifice: This act would immortalize Chief Abiola's contributions to Nigeria's democratic evolution, inspiring future generations to value and uphold democratic principles.

3. Educational Inspiration: Aligning the university with Chief Abiola's legacy would motivate students and faculty to emulate his virtues of resilience, philanthropy, and commitment to societal betterment.

I acknowledge that such a change requires careful consideration, including consultations with stakeholders, alumni, and the academic community. However, I firmly believe that this initiative would not only honour a National hero but also reinforce our collective commitment to the values for which he stood.

Thank you for considering this proposal. I am confident that under your leadership, Nigeria will continue to honour its past while striving towards a more unified and Democratic future.

Sincerely,
Livingsage
(Concerned Citizen)

The fake love and adulation that Yorubas professed for MKO was revealed when Goodluck Jonathan proposed the renaming or UNILAG after him. The kind of opposition the move garneered was so turbulent that the idea was jettisoned immediately. What better way can a loved one be honored than naming such a institution after him. But a fake lover is a fake lover.
