Nigerians never get defensive about their country. I know for a fact we are our own worst critic. The Irony in this whole argument is simply this, if ghana is so awesome with every thing in place and no slums and all, then why getting all worked up and defensive? If say a Nigerian goes up to an American to tell him that Nigeria is better than an America, do you think the american will work up some sweat and go to dig up articles all in the bid to prove that America is better than Nigeria? No! He'll just smile and ignore the Nigerian completely. Spewing insults while foaming at mouth does not change the fact that both countries still have a long way to go. I understand patriotism, but I think it ends simply at stating reasons why you love your country, not trying to bring down another all in the bid to make yours better. A lot of you folks need to grow up. |
IloveGH: LOL @ boldedHave you been to Nigeria before? |
pussypounder: my dad wants me to stop posting on nairaland else hes gonna smash my head into the keyboaevfrhebpifvrinehvfrqkmwqkdmjwediefcrjiPlease stop spamming all the threads with this dumb joke. It's getting old already. |
rahymat: Seems she has lost weight,i hav dis feeling dat guys would rush to date her if shes slim. How are you sure guys are not rushing to date her now? |
ideyhere: What makes it irrelevant?Because this is the first time I'm hearing about someone named ken oyakilome. |
icebebe: She's pretty n I love her dress, buh seriouxly If a slim babe had wore dis vry dress, una no wetin go happen naAt least she's fat all round. Unlike you with skinny arms and a pot belly. |
Journalist desperate enough to cash on a completely irrelevant news. |
High level description? I don't think so. The list is not specific to one person, rather I see my personality spread across a large section of them. |
holyfather: this is not about her love for the man,his money or any kind of popularity whatsoever.I think you're right. This has patience jonathan written all over it. |
greggng: Like I always say comprehension is the main problem of most nairalander. Let me help some of you. In sumarry she moved out of govt house to prove to the world that she is not mad as was described by the doctor. I see nothing wrong in her action. She still loves her husband. I wonder why some peep will open their dirty mouth to talk as if she is hungry to have his husband back cos of moneyShe left the govt house because she was emotionally and verbally abused from her husband. He stopped her from seeing friends and family and totally cut her off from the rest of the world by preventing her from using phones, laptops and any other form of technology. He locked her up in an enclosure in the govt house without even bothering to see her. |
aisha2: Na wa oh. Do people even read at alllLike you, I was one of those really rooting for this woman back then when she was forcefully imprisoned by her husband. One of the things wrong with this article was she pointed fingers to an unknown psychiatrist for her house arrest rather than her husband who will all know is the only one with the power to enforce this. Secondly, what was really the point of apologizing to Enugu women, if not to the fact she may have exaggerated her troubles. The whole point of the speech was to paint her husband in a not-so-bad light even though we all know he was that bad to her. The only question people will ask, is what's in it for her? Why didnt she just face her life and ignore politics and the limelight for now and move on with her life. Rather, she wants to undo the mess, thereby digging herself deeper into the pile. I strongly disapprove of this written speech. |
HezronLorraine: He chased them out of the temple with a whip remember. What is the difference, one slaps a witch,Jesus whipped traders out of the temple.Except you're being sarcastic, Stop talking already! Each word you write just shows your level of reasoning and brightness which I'm sorry to say is not much on the high side. How old are you? |
dazzlingbeau: Please understand that jesus chased out peole buying and selling in the temple, turning it into a business center. He chased out peole like your papa Oyedepo and not witches and wizards . So try and save your face and stop quoting this part of the bible to justify the terrible act of your pastor.Besides, is Oyedepo jesus christ? This so called men of God have a special brainwashing technique they use on their member to make them lose common sense especially when the church matter is concerned. You see otherwise smart fellows being led like sheeps to the slaughterhouse of lies and deceit. For my own peace of mind, I've stopped picking an argument with these gullible church folks. |
I heard the man has some violence in him. Students of Covenant have attested to his assaulting them on several occasions. He has gotten away with violent tendencies here in Nigeria on various occasions, but that doesn't mean he'll get away with it on another land. |
Johnwizzy: Is he a billionaire? It's $25m dollars that is equal to 4.2 billion naira |
Cracked.com right? Every word has cracked written all over it. |
sleekymag: The problem with Nigeria is Nigerians! Most of us are loudmouths. We all want to be heard! Whether communicating ignorantly, or with halftruths, or from a personally biased view, we all want to be heard, and fortunately social media helps our laughable cause. We do not try to be objective, neither do we take the pains, most times, to seek the root cause of things. We are driven by sentiments, our leaders only reflect the kind of people we are, yet we complain abput them without realising we also have to change ourselves from within. Despite all theae i know it is well with Nigeria but we must take steps to becoming better people in the true sense of the word!tell them bro! |
GeneralShepherd: We Nigerians love living in self-denial,Hope you know saying Nigeria is a fvcked up country does not excuse you from that fvcked-up-ness. It's like a kid who goes about insulting his father for his perceived ills to the hearing of the neighbor. It'll all fall back on him eventually because he's a product of that man. When the issues of Nigeria is brought up, always ask yourself these question before you proceed to bring down your own hut. Am I a Nigerian? Am I a good guy? Are there other people out there that are good too? Your answer to these question will make you hold your tongue whenever you want to go about you critiquing rampage. If you tell your foriegn friends that Nigeria is a terrible place, he can't help but see you as a terrible person too, Cos no matter how much you try to disassociate your self from Nigeria, you're part of that entity and that's how the whole world will view you. That you can never run away from. So don't go destroying your hut to prove a point. It's your hut. |
jpphilips: he that is down fears no fall, you are a low life already, f00l is an understatement. All these tout having internet access these days! I wouldn't believe you're a day over 16, because you talk without manners like a badly trained child. hurling insults over forums as what now? Grow up already. Anuofia! |
jpphilips: he that is down fears no fall, you are a low life already, f00l is an understatement.Wow. Funny though I won't sink low to your level to start trading words with you. Get more creative. You're still doing the kindergarten kinda insult. lol. |
Missy89: Dont be ridiculous. That is not a good defense. The army is spineless and in total shambles! It is just the basic truth. So what's the terrorist's point anyway If they are not trying to overrun the whole country. What are they fighting for exactly? |
aroleodua: ode oponu ayirada. So any videos you see soldiers running ultimately means it's the present battle between boko haram and the NA. Funny enough if they are really winning as they want dumbasses like you to believe, they won't be desperate enough to start posting videos of their 'supposed winning' on the internet. By now, they'd have simply hoisted there flag in aso rock, and we'll now be know as BH Republic. ODE!!! |
dking123: i strongly believe that bh has strong media machinery.True. And somehow people actually believe that 400+ men will all decide at once to defect to Cameroon of all nations! Are people really that dumb to believe that? What's the point of the defection exactly? They all of a sudden want to be cameroonians? What about there wives and children? Their families? Friends? Do people know what defection mean? Why in the world would people choose to believe propaganda fallacies even when it's staring them right in the face, and choose to believe lies that even a 3 year old can see through. SMH for some people. |
Litmus: If true then the Nigerian penchant for blaming everything on government facilitated recently by social media plaid a leading part. People no longer assume responsibility for their own personal growth or failure because political interest will conveniently excuse you by laying the problem at the feet of Government. Thus, armed rubbers only do so because the government created no jobs; the young men raped those girls because the government rapes the nation daily; the soldiers fled the war-front because the country under the government is not worth dying for, etc, etc.You mirror my thought! Unfortunate for us as a people who never once acknowledge that the government is just a reflection of the masses, and we can never have a good government if majority of the people who make up the country are dishonest, dubious, fraudsters, corrupt, blackmailer e.t.c The honest truth is that the problem of Nigeria is not chiefly the government, but the people in general. We should stop expecting a miracle as the underlying rot will always be there if we don't take it out individual no matter who's in power. |
steeviee: One of the major strengths of UAE is their leadership. Their leaders are not gready; they are not self-centered people. They believe that the wealth of the nation is for all the citizens. Now, if you compare to what we have in this part of the world (Africa), you will see the glaring contrast. Whereby a leader here devotes majority of his/her time in amassing personal wealth at the detriment of the nation and the people he/she is supposed to serve.Actually, the entire UAE is just 6 million people. Out of this 6 million, 1.5 are emiratis (people of Arab ancestry) and half of these people are real indigenes who could trace their ancestors a little far back in that country. These are the people that enjoy most of the country's wealth. They aren't so much and their oil money would go round amongst themselves. Another thing they do is that immigrants can never rise the ranks in their respective jobs as they reserve the job for their barely out of school indigenes. plus the immigrants are paid peanut wages, while they keep the bulk money for themselves. They mainly just use people. |
ghettodreamz: Exactly, that's the point. Spoiled rotten kids, and the cycle goes thus. It's good to be rich and be able to afford such affluence or command some level of respect in the society. I, however, believe there are a lot of others things that could be done with such a great affluence rather than spending it extravagantly on a mere machine.I get your point. I think though the country encourages such lifestyle as in a very way, that boosts their economy. Such wealth and lavishness is the very core of their tourism policy. So the cars, the tigers and the extreme show of extravagance is all just a media ploy. I've been there before, and this high end cars you see as cars rocked by kids in dubai all over the internet isn't that way in real life. what you see is mostly nice SUV's and sedans. The Ferraris and lamboginis you only see once in a while. |
ghettodreamz: You're spot on with this. The people I pity most there are the Asians who work majorly in their construction/engineering field earning peanuts as wages/salary in return for a hard labour. Talk about being used, that's how it is. Most of those kids are going to school for the sake of it, and bulk of them don't have stuffs upstairs. All the kids have to is go to school, graduate with any result and they'll be fixed in top management position of companies of their choice. Then, they'll be given a high end car, standard condo and a check of $20,000 to start their life. This gifts is given to all of them as soon as they graduate from the university which is mostly at the age of 19,20 or 21. |
The indigenes of this country are assured a wealthy/upperclass lifestyle from the day they are born. All of them. They make up 20% of the entire population which is pretty darn small. Immigrants are just 'baboons' working for them to be 'chopping' |
jpphilips: people like you die mysteriously because you lack humanities, anyone who has your kinda mindset does not deserve to live. And you my dear friend will get to live forever? |
Amya: You shouldn't call me a fool because you want to make your point. That's really low. |
jpphilips: Expressing foolishness with pride, a woman who is a fool is excusable considering the temperature her brain cells are subjected to during her hair make overs, what should be worrisome is when she has sworn to remain a ret@rd for personal reasons. You shouldn't call me a fool because you want to make your point. That's really low. |
jessy4done: His father was dre from the onset, he dos watever his father says, he is always saying my father said shld try and seeu or call U̶̲̥̅̊, §Ơ̴̴̴̴̴̴͡ I felt his father rules his mind. Am still sorry for bringing him into dis though. It seems though that your man's father was the one that chose you out for him. And being that he's this kinda person that does whatever his dad wants, he went ahead to engage you and planned settling with you. He probably has someone somewhere he loves and wants to get married to but can't because his dad chose you. That explains the way he blocks you out, though he engaged you. Now involving his dad who's been probably rooting for you just made things easier for your guy to leave you. The guy only has to say "dad I'm not yet married to her and she's insulting you like this, maybe when we get married she'd go physical on you" with that, the guy's dad may tell him to go ahead and marry whoever he chooses. I won't be surprised if you come here in a few months to say you heard of his wedding to someone else. Move on alright. I wish you find someone that truly loves you, only then will you realize you dodged a bullet and thank God. |
