how did she manage to pass through airport security?
How hard can it be if she had the kids documents and papers! Remember she stole them. And they would possibly have the same surname. It wouldn't be hard to pass through security as you think. The kid is really her grandchild and that can be proven. Securities don't go around everyday suspecting foul play.

Off course she's heart broken, her meal ticket was seized from her, this could affect the housing and child care benefits she gets.

Temmy you need to calm down, your baby is safe hands, her nan obviously wants her to have a proper upbringing which arguably, you're unable to provide.

Lets not get carried away, we are Nigerians & we know according to Nigerian custom, the man owns the kid.

Be nice & focus on your Uni, with time you will re-establish contact with your kid
It doesn't work that way. Why would you assume she extorts from her daughter's father and his family!

The worst thing you can do to a woman is take her child away from her especially one she bonded with from age 0 to 2. Please stop being biased and think for a second how this lady might really feel.

If she happens to be your sister, will you dismissingly tell her to move on with her life because children belong to their daddy?

there is no where in the bible where a poor man is said to have easy access to the kingdom either ... God knows wealth comes with its challenges of being spiritual . that's we got to keep praying for grace. it is there in the scriptures that God gives power to attain wealth. we just fail to see the other things these men of God preach along side wealth.
Do you know one of the reasons the bible is referred to as a double edged sword? It's simply because it can be interpreted to lot's and lots of understanding.

Yeah I'm a Christian but I'm not overtly devoted to it. I'm a freethinker but I believe in Christianity. But one thing I never am is a hypocrite.

I know the truth. And I'll say it as much as I can.

People's heart are set in stone, so I'm not saying this to try to convince anyone, but to simply state how I feel about this matter.

Associating Jesus's first coming with pomp and pageantry was how the Jews missed it. Since he was the son of God, they expected him to be wealthy beyond belief. But rather he came the son of a carpenter and they never believed he was the son of God and ended up killing him even. The Jewish people are till date awaiting the first coming of the messiah.

Most pastors like these associate wealth with God and sometimes even righteousness even when that same God they claim to worship sent his son to live like a pauper. Jesus did all that not so we could enjoy immerse wealth, but to really connect with our soul, our self and our spirituality. He thought us to be humble, to be patient kind loving, devoted and being a blessing to others. He preached about joys and riches of God's kingdom and the only way getting that is leaving all material wealth and people to follow me.

Yet all these pastors do is preach and preach about material wealth. How that's God's blessing and how you have to drop some offerings to access that blessing. They ignore all passages of the scriptures which tells people to renounce their wealth and follow Jesus. Passages that say it's easier for a camel to pass the eye of a needle than a rich man are all safely ignored.

Anyone who has ever had a spiritual awakening will tell you this. The two greatest things that can't mix in this universe is materialism and spirituality. For you to be strong spiritually, you have to be denounce materialism or anything that pleases the flesh. This is why people fast. This is why people live in caves and climb mountains in the quest of getting spiritually quest. But who are these who represent spirituality in our so called churches? fast talking preachers who preach prosperity prosperity and more prosperity, as if that's what life is really all about.

Did u actually read the article? Commissioner for health asked for volunteer and he wasn't specific about the speciality or course of study of the volunteer.
However, the call was misleading. It sounded so urgent like a clarion call to patriotism yet it was all for nothing. The next time something like dis happens (God 4bid) do u think anybody will volunteer?
Calls like that were made to have people on ground if ebola had became out of hand. All these people who dropped off application would then have been called. Fortunately,it was curbed quickly and effectively so they didn't warrant a call back.

30k for a 4 hour shift isn't a bad deal so is the life insurance and protective gears. I'm sure thousands of people will try to apply, but they can only take the ones they need and the earliest volunteers.

So what you mean to say is they should gladly take anyone that comes forward even when they are basically not needed. Why is it so hard for you to comprehend that there might been a particular amount of volunteers needed considering the fact the we just had a few cases of ebola in the country. If so many volunteers are taken more than is needed, what will they be doing?

The whole meaning of customary law is that it is according to the dictates of the custom so a lot of things are different under customary law for example customary law will recognize multiple wives as long as traditional rites were done whereas the registry document only recognize the first wife and you are not allowed to sign those same documents with another woman except you divorce first. Also in the case of inheritance customary law is different as it recognized the family and the property will be share according to culture as opposed to the court registry where the wife and children will be regarded as sole beneficiaries if there's no will.
Hope you do know that a man can still marry two wives in Nigeria one through customary and the other statutory and both still recognized as wives.
Hope you know this Nigeria. Customary law stands first even before the others.

Haven't you seen situations whereby a man with more than one wife and who only had a statutory marriage with just one of them are all beneficiaries where the man dies interstate?

Corruption even at the expense of Ebola outbreak.
It really a shame how many people like you cannot comprehend a very simple article. Now to break this down for you to really understand I'll have to itemize this.

1. The writer of the article is a journalist.

2. The writer was looking to write the greatest piece of the year. He was looking for a story not to help per se.

3. He was pressured by his boss to write said piece.

4. He probably didn't study microbiology but lied as he knew that would be the only way to get close to the action. He was a journalist after all.

5. He passed the first hurdle by getting numbers and was even directed to where he could be selected or not.

6. He went there and lied again.

7. He was told at some point that they had met the capacity of volunteers needed (since the index case had been weeks before it was understandable that they had gotten the amount of volunteers needed) and he would be contacted when there was need for more volunteers.

8. He waited and waited and still no call came.

Now for those lacking comprehension, the entire people that were infected with ebola disease in Nigeria were less than 20. The simple fact that remuneration for volunteers is good means more and more people will volunteer. This means that it'll get to a point whereby you may volunteer and not be taken. If hypothetical 10,000 people volunteer for ebola for just 20 infected, most wouldn't have anything to really do and be paid such large sums per day. Will it make sense to you?

Please pray tell, how is this corruption!

Tradition marriage is strong enough. Certificates are issued on request from local govt councils. It has all the basic requirements of a legal marriage and then some (parental consent clause).

As much as you guys think that having a statutory marriage in Nigeria is beneficial to women in the case of divorce or some other reason, it really isn't. Unless of course some other form of contract is entered into that specifies in details the terms and condition of the marriage (prenup). In a situation where the latter isn't involved the court still has discretion in terms of awarding monies and property to either party when marriage (of any form, statutory or customary) is proven in trying to dissolve the marriage.

Certificates of customary marriage can be tendered anywhere. Certificates are not necessary in situation whereby it can be proven that their was a customary marriage (assessors, witnesses e.t.c). It should be noted too that affidavits also suffice in some situations .

kaboninc: I think I have a suggestion: The city gates should be opened and those who want to leave should be categorised as this:

1. Those who want to leave and never return should please go and never return. They should renounce their citizenship.

2. Those who choose to live for any other reason can go too while we define their conditions for returning.

I bet you that those in the first category will be more, up to 90 percent of those who want to leave. And its only when these fellas leave that our country can be developed. Worse is when the category 1 peeps return, they end up becoming our leaders. All I can say to that is we're getting wiser and the people are becoming enlightened each passing day.
This country is a mess but am tired of saying it, tired of hearing it and sick at not doing something about it. This tells us the kind of mindset we have. Even when things are improving, we doubt in and make a joke out of it.

For those who think there are no opportunities in Nigeria, I think they've a very restricted and limited horizon and they are solely responsible for it. There are so many fine youths out there doing brilliantly well and Nairaland has so many of them. Have we asked ourselves why Corporations are coming to invest in Nigeria even with the insecurity, the 'bad infrastructure', the bad everything? BlackBerry till today has significant market share in Africa and Nigeria in particular. MTN Nigeria contributes the most revenue to the MTN Group. The Tiger brand, Techno is not different. With the 'oil theft and bunkering and insecurity' in the Niger Delta, Nigerian companies are springing up in the oil and gas sector. If we leave, these foreign investors will come in with their own people and that will ironically help develop their country! Oh, take China for example.

Nigeria is bad, bad and the worst country on earth and so what? Your local community is very bad and so what? What are you doing about it? Running only to come back and effective contribute to its worsening state? Your street is filthy and in a horrible state yet you contribute when you pee in an open place. Yet during sanitation days you stay in doors cursing and cursing! Yet after biting your gala and bottled coke or 'pure' water you drop the wraps or cans on the same street you curse is dirty even when there's a clear view of a dustbin? Haba! There is indeed God oh!

Our education system is very crude yet brilliant guys graduate every year, not because they are born exceptional but because they worked very hard for it. Because your lecturer is dumb makes you a dumb? Because there's no electricity I won't find a way to study and study hard? Because there are no good roads I won't go to school? Because the President's son school's in Harvard, I won't be successful even in an unfriendly environment? There are excuses I feel stupid when I give.

Guys the revolution we seek so much starts with us, in our heart and mind! If just only one percent of those who travel out simply because 'we're in a mess' can just think deeply and say no to the bad roads, no to the fictitious contracts by government agencies and private institutions, no to the nepotism in private and government institutions, no to filthy and dirty environment, no to police extortion and bribery, no to poor administration either in our local community, organisations, then we'll someday find ourselves either very close to the sun or Heaven.
I love you!

People like you are rare in this country. If only we have more people like you, Nigeria would be this best country in the world.

The writeup is beautiful. Exactly something I would write.

My personal belief still remains that the Boko haram sponsors are not
Nigerians. This accusations and counter accusations from the two parties
have been orchestrated by the same sponsors to put Nigeria in constant
katakata so it gets to a point where the country breaks into bits and pieces.
America is the sponsor.
Terrorism is not cheap. Those fanciful ammunitions is not cheap. Even with
scores of them killed, they still seem yo multiply even though no one can
pinpoint what they are actually fighting for. The money involved to lure recruits
and give them impressive ammunitions is' not chicken change. we're talking
100s of millions of dollars here. Nigerians are naturally hoarders. even if they
loot that kind of money they will never spend it in meaningless war. even the
northerners. The northerners can only incite terrorism through words.
All these things is actually just meant to distract us from the truth that
America is behind this.
A post I made weeks before. We sometimes let ourselves be blinded by hate, even when the truth is staring us right in the face.

Most of what this man said in this press release does not really answer the pertinent question of whether or not US will or agreed to sell arms to us. At some point he made it clear he wasn't privy to such information.

So what's the point of the entire press release? They say they always come to the aid of Nigeria when we really need it.

Everyone knows the story of Zmapp.

Everyone knows the story of bring about our girls and how they made it about themselves but didn't do anything to actually bring back the girls. They rode on that story like no tmrw and milked it for all it was worth, but did nada

. Everyone knows about how the US government kept deriding our army and made them out to be incapable of surmounting the boko haram menace even though our army are warriors of west africa who have gone on countless peace keeping missions!

Everyone knows how they insult and poke fun at our government in a bid to distract them for issues they have at hand. And with this all they never did anything to help.
