Manover123: Hello good people,
Please, I need your assistance. I am currently in Canada under refugee status and living with my partner, who is a Canadian citizen. We have a baby together, and we are planning to get married in November.
My fiancée would like my mother to attend the wedding, which we plan to celebrate in a big way. She has already written an invitation letter stating that she will provide accommodation and cover any financial needs during my mother’s stay in Canada.
My question is: Is it necessary for me to include my own pay stubs and bank statements in the application, even though my fiancée is the one providing all the required documents and financial support? My concern is about your status and that of the impending visit of your mum. Canada is very anti asylum right now. I mentioned my experience earlier in the thread. The only reason they finally let me go at “secondary” after like an hour was when I gave them the names of my “friends “ and they checked and saw that they came in through PR. They thought I was fidgeting or lying about the friends because they came in through asylum which would infer that I had a similar plan. I read of a man who was not allowed to board his connecting flight because his brother or someone was in Canada through asylum. I would advise that you thread carefully, and read the advice of those who have stated their concerns. If you do apply then be aware of the bias that would weigh against that visa application and be prepared to counter it very well in the application. And prepare your mum of that line of questioning. |

Towerofgrace: This is serious 3 out of 50, safe to say majority traveling to Canada now are those with existing visas and just few new ones.
It is well Exactly. Getting their ten year visa or less na first step oh. Even with my US visa, and two other major visas, E remain small make Montreal people send me back to home. This is me, high income earner, lives abroad oh not even Nigeria, with money in debit card and enough credit cards. Return ticket, everything arranged and clear itinerary. Still, as soon as I brandished that Nigerian passport bayi, the lady first of all waved me to another man. That one asked me what I am coming for, he waved me to the inner room where I could see my fellow black brothers and sisters. By the time I left there let’s just say more brothers and sisters, all immigrants had joined me there. That hall was full. I wanted to swear for the person here in Nairaland that said Montreal was easy. They are nice naa but the rigorous questioning I faced ehn, I missed my connection flight. Again that is after I narrowly missed being sent back home niyen oh. Long story short, getting visa is now hard. And for those who manage to get it, the battle never end oh. They are now very deeply suspicious of Nigerians and asylum and will not hesitate to show it. Their default belief is you are coming to claim asylum. |

realsamsonite1: Hello everyone,
I would like to share details of a recent visa denial with you, with the hope that I can get some guidance. I am a canadian PR working in the US, while my fiancee who applied and got denied a canada vistor's visa is based in Nigeria. I think it’s best to come to Nigeria and marry and then apply for her. Right now they are considering her on her sister’s merit which is that she is from a country with high asylum applications and she may end up not leaving in their calculation. There’s a lot of visa denials now, and even at POE there’s another level of scrutiny these days for first time visitors especially for Nigeria and other countries where asylum rate is high. |

hunee: Lol, una no go hear word until they hold one person application because of your fanaticism for social media. You want to post post everything, you think other people dont receive similar mails, why dont they post here. Dont learn to be discreet with your life, be posting everything here. You carry a whole mail wey embassy supposedly send post ham here, you still carry full details of the recipents on a public platform ?
I have heard, I have moved on. I wish you luck. Discreet with suspected fraud? Involving a consulate? Something that should be on news and be exposed so that the people involved can be fished out. But first he has come here to ask if we see what he sees and if he is wrong. You are the one that knows where you see people that receive these kind of letters. I have never received suspicious emails after a visa application asking for money to be paid neither have other people I know. And if I did, I will come here and post. As a warning and to get advice. When my brother married an European sef, all we needed as per verification was done at the Federal Ministry in Abuja. Same way we post refusal letters on Canada and Uk thread and PPR letters for Canada and interview excerpts on US threads. How is it this one that is now private. |

hunee: Bros, we dont need to know who and who sent you a mail concerning your application. I would never receive a mail from a consular or embassy and come here to share the content of that email and subject it to debate, especially if it is an ongoing visa application process which has not been finalised. I would never do that. I am just speaking on professional terms. You inquire directly from the embassy or communicate to them by post.
We dont need the information here Ok. Thank you Worst is it is genuine and they confirm it? Or it is genuine and they claim he didn’t pay the money and they deny him and he will apply again. Let’s stop this attitude of fear. Did you see his name there or what is the confidential information? You don’t think we as fellow applicants ought to see this and be aware and take precautions if it also happens to anyone else applying from Nigeria? |

racerve: Gurus in the house, I’m hoping someone can help me clarify an odd situation with my wife’s visa application.
I'm an EU citizen currently based in Nigeria, and we're applying for a short-stay visa for my wife.
She submitted the application a couple days ago, and we just received an email from the french consulate asking her to contact the "embassy lawyer" to authenticate our Nigerian marriage certificate (see the attached pics below).
After reaching out to the provided contact, the supposed lawyer has sent an invoice of 350k for authentication.
I'm pretty sure this is a scam, but the original email came from a legit address. Her application status on the TLS website still shows In Progress.
Has anyone received a similar request before? I would be really careful. Embassy lawyer ke. When did embassy start having lawyers that demand payment or doing marriage authentication. Surely the best route is to authenticate from the Government. Whatever fees you will pay for visa will be stated outright and only goes to the parent country. Any other thing is to the VAC. The tone isn’t right at all. And I say it as a lawyer myself. Though the law firm mentioned appears to be legit, I would call them also and verify from them and have that on record. Even if they claim they are consular lawyers. I would not put it past the Lagos staff to be conniving with the lawyer. Basically be careful and look at any “evidence “ carefully. Confirm from France embassy sef in Abuja and in France. |

Horlamidei: What possible documents relating to the other shegen countries do I need to take along on my appointment..? Hotels and flights tickets only for the other shegen countries?? Yes. Hotel and transport. Can be train, ferry, even bus. Just take time and book refundable ones. But it’s such a hassle booking all those flights and hotels. I got tired and I just put France alone for mine for first two trips. For the main trip I put no to are you going to any other Schengen countries. The two other countries I mentioned them only as possible subsequent trip in the itinerary. A day each or so but didn’t attach any bookings for those ones. Alternatively you can cancel your appointment, get a refund and start the process again. Fill a new application form. It’s worth calling TLS London or sending a contact us form. I think you may also be able to fill a new application form and then they swap it at your appointment. |

BravadoIVC: Someone close to me got similar problem. Here is the solution: on the appointment date, go to the NIS website and reprint this slip. Then go for your capturing a day after the supposed appointment date. They will allow you to capture and it will automatically be corrected.. Thanks a lot. I will try this. |

Hi Fam, I applied for passport renewal since May 1st at the UK Office but my application form still shows that it’s awaiting approval. What could be responsible? My friend who did his own after me says his shows approved. I reached out to INNOVATE in case it was payment issue, those ones said I don’t have appointment date. Me that booked for August since April, I sha went to rebook and luckily because of the new release of dates I found a date earlier than my old date. But still showing awaiting approval.
Innovate now says it’s not them it’s Nigerian immigration

Mrmoney90: Yes you must have a source of income as money do not just appear into ones account. Secondly, you can’t survive without money, so wherever the money is coming from is your source of income, either as gifts from family, work, business etc.
Now back to your refusal note. Your mother’s account is confusing.
Again, that opening balance and closing balance being thesame is always an issue. Doesn’t she spend? How much is her monthly expenditure? I don’t think that was stated as ECO didn’t mention it. You guys should try to give more info on that. Make the application more detailed.
Lastly, she can take pictures of herself in her business place, as well as receipts of payments she make for using the spot. Even if she has a sponsor, she still needs to show her bank statement. One important mistake you made was stating she will be contributing 500k towards her trip. She shouldn’t have said so anyways, because how can her sponsor be spending 4500 and she still needs to spend 500k of her money. Makes no sense. Shouldn’t have been stated regardless. Thank you Bro. God bless for the detailed comments. You know how all this mothers are? Do you have money in your account? she said no. Who knew she even had savings reach 3m in the first place. 😂 My brother also didn’t tell me or even seek advice before he applied. How long is she stating they out 4 months 😂😂😂. That’s how the went to put 550k as income without any prooof. Business no proof. I am the one doing this new application and so will take all these you have said into account. I reduced amount she’s contributing to 200k but with what you said I will just take it out entirely and put the major focus on the sponsor since has good documents to back up. |

Guys, pls how best to handle this. My friend wants to reapply immediately as his mum got refused. It’s an application to visit him in the UK primarily but she stated that she was a petty trader but could not supply evidence that the business was registered. And of course no company account.
She has opening balance of about 3.5m, savings from through the years. With a 750k deposit by the sim which they failed to highlight. But the savings account opening and closing balance are almost same. From what I read here there should be an upward curve. However he is the sponsor. Has an health bank balance of about 8k pounds. Payslips and all.
If the son is the sponsor does the applicants account details matter much? Pls, How best to surmount the hurdle of what she does for a living in this new application? Especially as we already said she’s a petty trader in the last application. She’s retired but manages a petty store.
Is it compulsory to have a source of living lol.

Godsblessings: Hello house, I really need ur candid advice , just received an offer from uk, pls I want to relocate with my husband and children. Pls can I use my mum account statement for our visa Applications, if yes , another problem is that my mum surname is not same as mine as she is using her father's name as surname , pls , is it true that my birth certificate showing her name as my mother will take care of that? Really don't know what to do and transferring funds takes another 29days bf I can use it ? Pls , has anyone ever used mother account statement with different surname for student visa and dependent visa? Your input will be appreciated, thanks. Your mum can sponsor you, her child. Not her son in law or grandchildren. The birth certificate will take care of any discrepancy so far you can prove relationship. |

Am totally new o...though have read some pages. I have my offer letter already. PLEASE, what are the steps? Am traveling with spouse and three kids.
Secondly, can an investment be used as POF? This 28days is just too much for me because of time.
PLS your response will be highly appreciated... thank you. The next step is pof and Tb test. And gathering your documents. Just be patient. If you put the money in today,by early September, the 28 days will be done and you can apply using priority. Just ensure you do the Tb tests before it elapses and do walk in if you don't get close date. Don't rush and use investment certificate because you are in a hurry. |

lexychuks: Visa Alert!
Application date: 16th of July
Biometric: 23rd of July (The two days Muslim break really delayed my biometrics date, first time I'd ever hate public holiday)
Application type: Priority VI
Application transferred to VAC: 30th of July
Collection email: 30th of July with visa sitting pretty on my passport
Declared: previous USA study visa denial , and schengen visit visa approved
I'm really lost for words. I have followed almost all the study threads on this nairaland, I tried German study route but I was denied admission, same with Canada, Even Unilag denied me admission... Eventually when I got over 4 offers from schools in USA, Trump's visa people dashed my hopes. Already gave up studying abroad then this UK 2 years post study came up and I decided to give it a try.
Thanks to nairaland for all the priceless information. May all of us achieve our japa dreams. ✌️ Congratulations dear. Lol @ unilag denied admission. That thing can pain somebody especially when it's foreign university. It will be as if na the admission people refuse you visa, as if, if only you had gotten the admission the visa is automatic but na lie. God's time never reach ni. Indeed he has his reasons for some delays we face. We thank God that his will prevailed and you have a testimony to share. May the land be fruitful and give you your hearts desires. |

I got a non-straightforward mail after 3 days of biometrics and the attached was sent to me yesterday. How do I get this document verification report (DVR) because I have no idea what document they are referring to as false document. The bank said they did confirmation of bank statement.
What do I do now?
Please!
Thank you So sorry FavouredForever. I know it's hard but just be strong while you try to get to the bottom of what could have gone wrong. If the bank did confirm the statement as genuine and they are very sure (you need to confirm) then some other document could be responsible |
