My parents have paid at UCH but they are saying NCDC said they should not do covid-19 test again. They must go to a private lab in Mokola. Not even the Medicaid on the website. The same Medicaid people are complaining that after 3 days sef they didn't see result.
Pls has have you or anyone you know traveled and arrived UK after doing their test in a lab of their choice. Thank you |

LadyBlaq: Good afternoon everyone!
The total tuition is approximately 5 mill naira plus 10k cad totalling about 8 million naira. I have 5m plus in my personal savings, accrued since 2013. A close-knit(close friend) of my late father has transferred 10 million to my account sometime last month and I have prepared a DEED OF GIFT for the said amount. The company will provide me with introduction letter to the Embassy and one year income accrued with the company.
I have applied to UNBC but yet to get their decision. I couldn't apply to UNB as promised because I didn't want to waste application fee. I already applied to Centennial college but yet to get their decision too, though I am very hopeful with them.(I am yet to pay app fee since they will have to go through the docs submitted before I go ahead to make 95cad for app fee.) I intend being my own sponsor
1) Please, how good are my chances in getting a study visa with these? 2) Even after the deed of gift, do I need to provide evidence to support why he had to gift me such amount?
@Frankrobbn1 @Lekiboboe @Amylew Sis, I think you are good to go as per the finances. You have a good profile, and its good that some money has been in your savings account for as long as 2013. The money you are being gifted and your savings in total is more than expected. With the support of the company too and the letter, it is great. |

mcobex: As for the PGD thing, you can also apply for it since your masters application is still ongoing and nothing is certain yet(don't put all your eggs in one basket). If you eventually get your admission then we can advise you on what next to do. For now concentrate on securing admission. Good luck Thank you so much boss. The area of last masters no get any specialisation. I just chose 4 courses for classes, wrote exams and project and I was done. Unilag just help me write LLM on top the certificate. Shikena. I guess I can say this one will specialise in research as it is thesis based, on victims of crime. I work as a prosecutor. I will do as you have said and apply for the PGD too. At least one or two to be safe because Canadian admission for law can be incredibly competitive, even with my 2.1. Ironically the pgd fees gan sef e dey expensive than the Universities I saw. Whats up with 14k for pgd when I saw less expensive Universities, with possible funding if you get admission. Thank you for your advice. |

Amylew: Guys, let me too ask for more enlightenment. Now is the time to ask before admission and application.
I have read two posts on older applicants hence the trigger to ask for info. I am 36 now. Seeking for postgraduate masters admission to for masters in law. I have applied to a couple of unis in Canny. Fingers crossed as I await response. My bachelor in law cgpa was 3.67. Good but not so high naa so it may not be so easy getting admission from Canny schools. I have a masters from Nigeria, but my cgpa was 3.12 or so so phd admission is even out of it.
Now all my thought was I would not mention my Masters in law but I read here that its a bad idea.
So if I mention it will it affect my visa application adversely cos of career progression? What reasons can I give for wanting to do a second masters.
I read here where someone was telling natured applicants to apply for pgd because it can show professional progress. That can work as I have seen a few courses in my line of work. Should I pursue that line? Will it make sense to do pgd after a masters in law. How would u couch it..
Pls wonderful people, advices are welcome. Thanks . Pls somebody should help me with their input. |

Salam038: Alhamdulillah, Glory and Praise be to no one except Allah, The Cherisher, The Provider and The Most-Merciful. I had my interview on morning (December 16) at the Abuja Embassy. Nothing much to say about but it's God's Mercy.
Here we go, my scheduled time was 8:30am but I couldn't do my interview till around after 9 due to long queue and some processes. I ordered a bolt cab and got to the embassy around 7:40am. I was still in the cab, trying to get water in the midst of those hustlers, they came to me trying to disturb with their words. I just told them I'm fine.
Getting to the embassy, I joined the outside queue, we did the first papers screening and asked to go inside. Getting inside, we did the biometrics test (One Black American verified my I20 and passport and a white woman did the biometric test. I thought she's the one to interview me, then I tried to calm myself down. She told me to meet the security), this time i saw the two VO (White man and Black American) attending to the interviewees, then joined the queue for the main deal. When my turn reached, the Black American rejected three people straight before me, I was clueless but only noticed he didn't spend much time with them, during this time the white man still having a good conversing interview with a very young girl going for her Bsc in sport area. I kept praying and tried to calm myself down. They called next, I went to the Black American. Alhamdulillah, It's God's Mercy.
School: Western Illinois University Course: Quantiative Economics GRE/GMAT: No TOEFL: No Scholarship: $2000 Deficits: $21,770 But There is always believe in the Almighty. Here we go again...
VO: Pass me your passport and I20 Me: I passed him the Passport, I20 and the Sevis Receipts. Then I greeted him, Good Morning Sir (he didn't answer perhaps he didn't hear. He just focused on the system. I also focused looking at him and kept praying)
VO: (After like 3 seconds on his system he asked) How did you hear about the school you're going to? Me: After decided to study my Master degree in the United States, I did my research using some academic websites and I found about 5 schools that I met their requirements. I eventually applied to 2 (WIU and CSU)
VO: After typing for like 10seconds, he asked what do you do? Me: I work as an Accountant a XYZ company, where I prepare the financial statements, audit the financial statements, give business advices and compute taxes. (Thats exactly what I filled in my DS-160 as work responsibility)
VO: Immediately he asked, since when have you been working with them? Me: I started working with the company after my Professional exams since July 2019
VO: After typing for like 10 seconds, Are you married? Me: No, I am single
VO: Have you ever travelled before? Me: No, I have never
VO: After typing for like 20 seconds, Who is your sponsor? Me: My Uncle, Mr XX, who is also my mentor is my sponsor (I kept praying and stay focused looking at him even though he didn't look at me for once apart from the first time)
VO: Straight up, he picked the white paper, add my Passport to the ones he had approved then said I will approve your Visa, then returned my documents and gave me the white paper.
No one did this but Allah.
Tips: Please Pray Pray Pray and practice well before your interview, and Pray Pray Pray. Know every details you filled in your DS-160 form even the dates. Do more practice. Dress nice and comfortably, If you're going for any Management or business course or Law, pls make sure you dress like one of their students. Try to look at the VO eyes, if he/she looks at you back put on smiles pls (that white man likes that here in Abuja, that black American is good too, I think he assesses people psychologically). If you are having your interview in Abuja here and perhaps still going to be interviewed my these two men, note this, the white man likes conversation pls make it easy for him with big smiles. And the black man like straight words please don't say what he didn't ask unless you know they are key words.
Fairheart, I DM you and you responded immediately like you do to others. May Almighty grant you more goodness and continue to bless you. You are always available to help even when you felt Ill. No, You are a Man brother, God bless you.
Benita, Strong woman. May Almighty stay with you always and bestow you His mercy. You are always there to help me. You put more effort even after getting your Visa approved a month ago. God bless you.
Thanks everyone. Sorry, it's coming late.. Wow, such a good read. I'm really happy for you. Congratulations and may the land favour you. |

Seasons greetings guys. I just joined this thread and I am happy with the abundance of help available. I have been busy reading transcripts and learnt a lot.
Pls, I don't know much about US so Pls can anyone give me pointers on Universities that offer masters/ PhD in law so i can do the research on the school. I have checked a few i saw here but no law. Unis of Alabama, Houston, Clarkson etc.
I work as a prosecutor, undergraduate in Law 3.67/5. Want to apply for masters. Will be self funding if I can afford it.
From what I have read I don't need to write GRE but do I need Toefl/Ielts. What schools are cheap and can I get full funding? Do I need to apply for the funding or its automatic.
Thanks guys. |

fratermathy: I can't help you find an institution. You'd have to do that work yourself. Google "PhD in Law site:ca" and then explore your options. Personally, I know McGill University, York University, and University of Toronto are top Canadian schools for Law. You may also want to explore University of Alberta and University of British Columbia.
As for funding, almost all PhD programs are fully funded but you can mail the specific department to confirm.
Many Canadian schools do no need IELTS or any other language test from Nigerians as long as you finished from a Nigerian university. For Masters, Let me add that UBC closed on December 1, same with U Alberta. Payment for U Toronto closed December 1 with document upload for January closing. McGill closes December 20 or 21 so you have to hurry. Other schools you can apply to that i know that application for law is on till January 15 is U Saskatchewan and U CALGARY Check out University of Windsor University of Ottawa Queens University And University of Western ontario. For PH.D, I don't know if application closes or its perpetual. |

Congrats Olasubomi. So happy for you. You are.like the first NSE person I know that has scalled through. I pray for grace for the rest who are waiting and hoping too. Pls, the account statement used, was the whole 10000cad pof requested complete from day one till one year or it was built small small till it met the NSE requirements? Cos my account has like 1.5 now. I intend adding to it before I apply mid next year. Did you do academic or general? olasubomy: Yes i got request for NSE to submit mybankstatement certificate but my sponsor bank (Standard Chartered) which had the major fund is not on the mybankstatement platform.
What i did was to get another printed copy of the statement showing transaction for 1 year and got the bank to stamp all the pages and was able to convince the bank to send the statement via courier to the Canadian embassy in Lagos and quote my applicaton and UCI no on the waybill.
So i uploaded a one page letter of explanation ( notifying the VO that Standard Chartered is not on mybankstatement platform) reason this was sent by courier. + uploaded the waybill tracking sheet (UPS) + stamped soft copy of that same bank statement +mybank statement certificate ( for my own salary account - Stanbic IBTC) and submitted.
That was the initiative i took. |

You need to calculate your listening with 8 at least. Only then can you have a rough idea of what your scores will be. Try 8 7 7 7 first. L R W S Then work upwards to see the maximum and minimum scores. RxOtunba: Using the CRS and hoping that I score at least 7.5 in all sections of IELTS, my score is 390 which I feel it's a bit low. Yes, my dad can put the money in my account for 4months. UWindsor requests a down payment of $4k but I'm thinking I should pay all d first semester tuition of about $10k. Is that good enough? |

Lekiboboe: Hi,
- You might need to enquire if its required of you to get a Supervisor (Professor) first before applying, sequel to that, if you mail a Supervisor that has a Law Research area that aligns with yours, and he/she accepts you, there is a certainty u gonna get the admission, you might even be lucky to get Funding (Scholarship) if available
- Endeavor to check for schools, there are substantial amount of Masters of LLM programs in Canadian Universities
See the link below and do a google search on them
https://www.universitystudy.ca/search-programs/?k=Law&program_level_merged=Master%27s+degree&program_language=ENGLISH
Note that most Universities will require u to secure a Supervisor (Professor) before you can get a Masters Admission, sequel to that, endeavor to reach out to lots of Professors (of different schools) as much as possible, so you can widen your horizon as regards your Masters Admission and have lots of options
The link below is your plug for that
Full guides on how to apply for MASTERS/PH.D programs in Canadian Universities, Secure a Supervisor and also get possible FUNDING (SCHOLARSHIP) https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/111#90933556 Thank you so much for replying. I don check tire. Yes, I have indeed done the homework. I Have checked like 30 schools as at now. As i said not all of them offer law not to talk of masters in law. Then those who do, U Toronto, U Ottawa, Queens, U Calgary ,U Alberta, U Sasken, Osgoode etc , for Law, almost all of these schools except one do not require you to get a supervisor before you apply. In fact some warn you against it. UBC and one other one just ask that you include the names of 2 or 3 whose interests align with yours. Maybe because it is Law I dunno but that's my experience. I'm worried about my cgpa and my chances of getting admission. Though I will certainly take your advice and apply to as many as possible. But you know say na money. I want those who have know more to tell me the non competitive schools who offer admission more. Any lawyers in the house, bike. |

I love the word you have to be madder and strategic.. That is just the summary. Both ielts and Tef are mad. See, ielts has messed a lot of people up, i know people who have 6 in listening, 5 sef in reading. But there are those who have had 9 in listening and reading. It's a battle you have to be determined to win and you can't honestly predict ielts. You just pray. I wrote ielts 3 times cos of writing. After i finally got writing right, crs score was too high, same ielts willsoon expire but hope won't be given up. If ielts expire before we pass tef, we write another one. And i don't have age on my side so what is your own excuse. No short cut Joshmuch: No short cut to Mapleland young lady. You have age advantage, max out your IELTS and simulate again if you will be in a favorable CRS score. Secondly, get ready to learn French, if you are a fast learner and your number of hours/week in class time is high like 15hrs+ apart from your personal efforts hours, you may need 7 months( +TEF prep). If not then consider more months. French is not a walk in the park either. Both IELTS & TEF are mad. You got to be madder & strategic to pass them. But, babe YOU CAN DO IT. Start with either of the said options and let's see what happens. Cheers. |

Yeah AF is long. Imagine me since January, then covid struck. Would have even looked for personal tutor but I had already paid for A1.2. Don't really have any experience with any other school. There's one my friend has but I don't know anyone who has finished there and done TEF. When i see i will come and recommend. There are lots of personal tutors being recommended as the next good thing since sliced bread. I saw one , Tef in 4 months, 120 euros per month lol. Dont even ask me how euros came about. One personal teacher at 30k per month. On enquiry about personal class, My AF teacher says 1k per hour for 6 months to go from A2 to Tef. And i go still buy the AF book and cd. Plus I think she said i go pay for Tef preparation class join. See results of my enquiry at IEF as I posted above. Maybe I will call tobidam to see if their rates have decreased. Like someone wrote here one time that if its a group they will reduce price. Long and short, me sef I'm confused but if uts a school school, I still go with IEF. For tutors I dunno oh. Just ensure the rutor has written TEF and passed. Or find someone you trust who they have taught and who passed. For now I'm enjoying revising my A1 and improving my Speaking. Its an individual choice based on pocket, how best you learn and how in a haste you are. Frenchwithalexa is good too, can't recommend her enough. Awesome teacher but you will still need a teacher or someone to speak to. Eniolakate: Thank you so much for your response, Amylew. I'm currently on A2.1 with AF but the journey is so long and more expensive. I heard that people do this same thing in 6 months! So why not give another school a try hence my request.
I'll do as you have advised. Thanks so much.
Any other school/tutor recommendations, please? |

1wolex85: I'd like this information too.. not sure about IEF also Eniolakate: Hello, I need a very good ONLINE French school or tutor. Kindly recommended, please. I've heard of IEF but I'm not sure about them. Does anyone have more information, please? Well, as the person I called said, their classes are divided into segments . For me, you can always opt out if they don't perform. A1.1 A1.2 A2.1 A2.2 B1.1 B1.2 etc. Do you get. Each class is 25k per month so u spend 2 months on one level. There are videos for you to watch anytime and zoom classes three times a week. All this I know from debating too whether to join them or not and calling Joshua. My point is you can try them for a month. |

True. Thanks for the keypoint. You are right. It's not about B2 but adequate preparation and not rushing. Framaro: I did online classes from A2 to B2. Started in January 2019, by June I was in B2. A1 was physical class though November-december 2018. I just contacted my teacher @ AF and we started.
Here's an advice to you, something I learnt the hard way during the course of this journey. Getting to B2 is different from preparing for tef. So don't be in a rush to write the exams. Give yourself enough time to prepare well and get it the first time. 160k no be small money ooo. The psychological effect too, can be very devastating. Just prepare well and you'll be fine with just one attempt |

You are such an inspiration and you make it all seem so doable. With perseverance and fortitude of course. I am gingered to be more serious because frankly I get discouraged and wonder if I can ever get to expert level. Thank you for taking us through the step by step of the psychology behind the numbering of the questions. I really appreciate it. I observed the same that the first 10 to 20 questions for listening and reading are A1 level. I could even attempt some but as i went up, Hian Quick question to you and to everyone. Been on A1 since January because AF shut down. Do you think an online class can take me from A2 to B2? I'm tired of AF and their time wasting. Imagine since January, they only just opened 2 days ago. Framaro: Thank you so much mamaroon for the award (lol) and thanks to everyone. Apologies, I haven't been able to respond to some messages. I had issues with my phone, it should be sorted out this week. Here are a few hints though: 1. Tef in Lagos is now computer based(old gist right?) Anyways, the keyboard is qwerty and there's usually a tutorial on how to put the accents, so no worries there 2. Unlike the paper based exam where everyone is given the same question paper, with the computer based, you are on your own because everyone has different questions. 3. Time management is key so keep your eyes on the timer because some will automatically log you out once the time is up whether you are done or not |

Birbeck asked me to pay £200 for CAS and do ielts.
University of Kent said I must get another referee, do ielts and pay deposit of £2000. I sha drag the first two with them say my referee sent his reference from a valid school address and that I have Waec. So they removed those two as conditions.
