Akunwafor Ezigbo Obiligbo: Meet the father of Igbo highlife music. The iconic Akunwafor Ezigbo Obiligbo was born on August 10, 1904 in Nteje, present day Oyi LGA, Anambra state. Considered the father of Igbo highlife, He is one of the greatest exponents of Egwu Ekpili, a master of the native ubo aka. Akunwafor was his traditional ozo chieftency title. He started out as a farmer, but had a dream one night in 1934 when he was 30 years old which led to the beginning of his music career. Chief Obiligbo began performing as one of many Traditional musicians in Nteje and mostly at funerals, weddings and other Traditional ceremonies before his popularity grew exponentially driven by his powerful lyrics which consists of deep Igbo Proverbs and some drops of praise singing. He left a huge body of work, mostly on the Gramophone Record format, but many of his greatest works have been preserved, especially those recorded on the pioneering Nigerphone Record label at Onitsha owned by the famous businessman of the early 20th century- C.T. Onyekwelu. This was the most advanced (if not the only) facility available in Igboland at the time i.e. the 30’s-50’s and was the forebear to subsequent recording studios/companies like Rogers All Stars and Tabansi Records. Though he may not be a household name for the younger generation, his importance to the older generation cannot be over emphasized. Former Nigerian Head of State, Major General Yakubu Gowon was a very huge fan of his, he once gave him a car gift of 504 Peugeot after watching him perform. Chief Akunwafor Ezigbo Obiligbo is the grandfather of the present-day highlife music stars, Akunwafor and okpuozor popularly known as Umu Obiligbo. Some of his hit tracks include Igba ndi eze , Eze Idigo, Egwu Gowon, ogwugwu akwa, Njenje Amaka Mma e.t.c. https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2024/08/22/akunwafor-ezigbo-obiligbo-meet-the-father-of-igbo-highlife-music/

Billionaire Who Graduated from Secondary School at 36 Writes 4 Books. Chairman of Neros Pharmaceuticals, Prof Poly Emenike has unveiled 4 books in lagos recently. Even though Prof Emenike enrolled back in Secondary school at the age of 32,he went on to become a PHD holder,Havard Alumnus and not a Professor. That is the reason the presidential candidate of Labour Party in 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, the managing director/editor-in-chief of The Sun Publishing Limited, Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, ex-managing director of Diamond Bank Plc, Mr. Emeka Onwuka, and others have commended the chairman/chief executive officer, Neros Pharmaceutical Limited, Prof. Poly Emenike, for his contributions to education and learning. Speaking at the public presentation of four books written by Prof. Emenike in Lagos on Tuesday, they said, by publishing books, the author has provided resources for the enrichment of knowledge. The books are: The Economic Trajectories of the Igbos After Nigeria-Biafra War: My Personal Perspective; The Mental Emancipation: How To Control Your Conscious and Subconscious Mind For Effective Performance; Shrines As Arbiters: Is Reserve The Case of Christianity in Igboland? and 15 Writing Principles on How to Be A Celebrated Author. Obi praised Prof. Emenike for his dexterity in writing, saying that his books add value to the society. Commenting on recent trending issues, where university students came to their graduation with expensive vehicles, Obi expressed fear that the next generation of graduates in Nigeria may not have any value to add for economic and political developments. “If Professor Emenike left secondary school with such a big celebration or indulged in such a lifestyle, I don’t think he would have been able to be here today with such honour as an author, making impacts to his generation,” he said. The former governor said that politicians should take the blame for what the university students who displayed ostentatious lifestyle at the graduation did. Obi said: “Don’t blame those kids who are graduating with exotic cars. Instead, blame us (the politicians) who are showing them how to live. We have too many politicians in Nigeria without any enterprise. Any country where politicians are richer than businessmen and women, that country will collapse. So many politicians have no valuable story to tell their children.” On his part, Ukeh said Prof. Emenike’s four books were “collectors’ items and academic works that would widen the horizon of readers and teach them life lessons that could be handy in everyday living.” Stating that the books were based on the author’s “personal experience and research; not just an abstract,” he recommended them for “learning, research and scholarship.” On the book entitled “The Mental Emancipation: How to Control Your Conscious and Subconscious Minds for Effective Performance,” The Sun’s MD said: “Of the four books, this is the only one not dwelling on personal experience and involvement of the author. It is a rich research work, which tasks the intellect on ‘mental emancipation.’ The book is a work that could only be understood easily by minds developed for critical thinking and reasoning, employing philosophy, guiding principle for behaviour and psychology.” Ukeh, who was the books’ reviewer, advised potential and prospective authors to engage editors in the process of book-writing. Commenting on Prof. Emenike’s ‘15 Writing Principles On How To Be A Celebrated Author,’ he said that engaging editors in book-writing was important because editors not only “cross the t’s, and dot the i’s, but also check spellings, grammar and facts.” He said: “Great writers have editors and proudly so.” Speaking also at the book launch, Mr. Emeka Onwuka said: “It gladdens my heart when I see great minds doing great works for humanity. Well, we have always done this, giving support to great minds like the professor, and shall continue to do so. “Writing is not an easy task; it takes a determined heart to put thoughts together. If we can have more of Professor Emenike and people who are willing to read, and we apply what we read in practice, our society would be better off. “Let everyone here give full support to good works like this. It’s by these great intellectual works that societies are developed.” Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof. Emenike said: “This is the third in the series of my book presentation event held in this environment. The first was the presentation of my first book, titled, ‘Entrepreneurial Spirit’ through the 17 principles of Napoleon Hill, that took place on 26th November, 2014. “The second was on 20th June, 2019, when my fifth book, ‘Think And Grow Rich: The African Perspective’, was unveiled. The two books were published under the auspices of Napoleon Hill Foundation, USA. The four books being presented today were, however, published in Nigeria under the stables of Entrepreneurial Spirit Publishing Company Limited (ESPC).” On ‘Mental Emancipation: How To Control Your Conscious and Subconscious Mind For Effective Performance,’ he said the book would help readers to engage their brains optimally and use it to think themselves into achieving their hearts’ desires. “I posited in the book that human minds work in very mysterious ways, it can be like a garden which, if effectively cultivated, would be fruitful and yield desired results; however; if left uncultivated or fallow, it gives room to several unwanted wastes to fester in it, hence, making the garden unfruitful. I advised we always take control of our mind (the garden), and ensure we cultivate it properly.” On ‘Shrines as Arbiters: Is Reserve The Case of Christianity in Igboland?, he said the book was based on what he witnessed within his immediate and operational environment. “The desire to write on this subject matter had occupied my mind over 20 years, before I eventually began to pen down my thoughts. The book exposes certain ills or abnormalities which exist in my immediate society. It should now be a matter of great concern to a society, the increasing rate at which people, especially young ones, have continued to embrace the services of various shrines or resorted to the worship of deities in various localities in their bids to achieve certain life ambitions,” he said. On ‘The Economic Trajectories of The Igbos After Nigeria-Biafra War: My Personal Perspective,’’ he said, “I used this book to narrate resilient ways that most Igbos (millionaires and billionaires) today, past and present employed as they began and sustain their entrepreneurial journey and reached the peak of success in various business endeavours.” Emenike, who urged Nigerians to read his books, equally advised everyone with vital life experiences (whether sweet or bitter) to always document such experiences in writing because they would be useful to someone, somewhere reading it, to even solving a contemporary problem. He added, “The benefits of committing things to writing, especially in book form, are innumerable. “An important tip, which I have continued to share in my writing, is the need to always commit your life goals and objectives in writing, especially as the inspirations are received on a daily basis. Also, write down the likely strategies to achieve those goals and ensure they’re reviewed regularly. Do also read them aloud to yourself at least once a day,” he said. https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2024/08/16/anambra-billionaire-who-graduated-from-secondary-school-at-36-writes-4-bookspeter-obi-attends/

110 CKC Candidates score distinction in all 9 subjects in WASSCE 2024 Christ the King College Onitsha has once again demonstrated her commitment to holistic human formation in the 2024 WAEC examination. The exam was taken in an environment of candour and serenity, accentuated with intellectual honesty and integrity. We have all the results of our students and we are happy with their performance. We are not content anyways as there is always room for improvement. But here is what we found. The college registered 131 students for the exams. 110 candidates made distinction in all the 9 subjects (A1& Bs). 126 candidates scored A1, Bs & Cs. This means that only five of the 131 registered candidates slipped in one subject, although they still made a minimum of 4 As in the same exam. In Mathematics, 127 out of the 131 registered candidates made A1, the remaining four boys made Bs. In the sciences, 111 candidates offered Physics and Chemistry. *79* made *A1* in Physics, while *90* made *A1* in Chemistry. These results have shown that even with scarce resources and children from low income families, most of whom did not have a solid academic foundation, CKC makes the best out of these raw materials. The college always beats the odds to emerge winners in many academic challenges. Yes, CKC may not have the best result in Nigeria; some elite schools that pay millions in school fees may have a few candidates making 9 A1, but when you put the entire class together, the aggregate score appears mediocre. Our aggregate score this year is excellent. We applaud the hard work of the management, staff and the students. May the fame of our college last forever. We hereby sample a few results: 1. Anambra Man Rejected Again as Bishop, Fierce Ahiala-Style Protests Erupt By Tony Okafor, Awka Anambra Man Rejected Again as Bishop, Fierce Ahiala-Style Protests Erupt In a move that has sparked widespread outrage and protests, the Anglican Church in Nigeria has elected Ven. Prof. Sam Ike, an Anambra man, as the new bishop of Enugu Diocese. The election, which took place on August 13, 2023, in Abuja, has been rejected by the indigenes of Enugu State, who claim that the process was unfair and did not reflect the will of the people. According to a petition written by Kingsley Okah, a justice advocate, on behalf of the people of Enugu, the election outcome is a clear indication of the church’s insensitivity and disregard for fairness and justice. The petition alleged that Ven. Prof. Ike is a puppet of the retired Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma, who has been accused of atrocities during his tenure in Enugu. This development comes years after Bishop Peter Okpaleke from Anambra State was rejected by the Ahiala Diocese of the Catholic Church in Imo State. The protesters argued that the Anglican Church has consistently marginalized the people of Enugu, citing the fact that the first bishop of Enugu was from Anambra, and the immediate past bishop was from Asaba. The petition demanded that the church hierarchy revisit the election outcome, citing the need for fairness and justice. It also threatened to explore legal means to assert their rights and borrow strategies from the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara, which successfully rejected Okpaleke. Okpaleke was later appointed Bishop of Ekwulobia, in Anambra State and made Cardinal by Pope Francis The Enugu controversy has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many calling for the church to address the concerns of the Enugu indigenes and ensure fairness and justice in its decision-making processes. https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2024/08/15/anambra-man-rejected-again-as-bishop-fierce-ahiala-style-protests-erupt/

I have handled 200 Million Naira Project - 26 Year Old Anambra Carpenter. Chinedum Treasure Anambra based 26-year old carpenter, Nelson Emmanuel Okafor has opened up on the opportunities that abounds in learning crafts particularly carpentry. The CEO of Carpenterway also lent his voice on Japa syndrome and advised young people to look beyond white collar as the only way to achieve success in life. He challenged Nigerian youths to be humble enough to take up any profession regardless of how ugly or unattractive it is. Nelson advised them to deploy the same brain they use to scam people to think of how to learn and better their skills in order to earn honest living. Speaking exclusively to our reporter he maintained there remained dignity in labor, especially in recent times where fraud has become the order of the day. He said, "If there is one thing young people should learn from me, it is the fact that there is dignity in labor especially in times like this when fraud has become the order of the day. It's now like the most sort after job description for every young person right now.” "There is dignity in labor and instead of jumping into fraud, use that same brain you want to use to scam somebody to think of how to learn skills, better your skills and earn honest living from it.” "My venture into carpentry has taught me a lot, but one thing that stands out is, no matter how ugly the job is or how unattractive the profession is, you can make a lot of money from doing whatever as long as you have garnered the dexterity in that particular field.” "No matter what you do and depending on the amount of time and commitment you put into the it, you can make as much money or even more than those people that do the cleanest jobs. "I have handled an interior job worth over 200 million. I have an edge over regular carpenters and interior designers because I am educated and also, as an interior designer, I am not just an interior designer that does designs, I have the artisan skills.” "First of all, I am a carpenter and I had to learn the skill for a couple of years before I become a certified interior designer so it gives me an edge over regular interior designers since most of them just get to direct or supervise projects.” "For me, once I find out that someone is not doing the job the way it should be done, I’d have to do it myself and because I am a young person, it does help in hastening up the whole process. I am also very innovative and I do not work with just what is around me.” "My work is actually world class and I look up to a lot of veterans in the industry and imbibe the ideas I get from them into what I do. I recruit my fellow young people and it makes jobs really smooth, fast and innovative." Asked whether he had ever contemplated quiting the job, Nelson said it was already late to quit as he had gone too far into the profession. He added, "I think in the early stages of the enterprise, there was a lot of doubts and discouragement but right now, we are knee deep into the whole process and it is too late to quit.” "Also, we have built a structure and on days that I feel too exasperated from everything going on, I just take a break and the company is still being run by the structure that has being erected. It is a valid feeling but it shouldn’t weigh anybody down as long as it is what you are passionate about." On where he drew strength to forge ahead, particularly during his lowest period of life,... said, "It is God who gives us the power to make wealth. I draw strength from God”. "It is just like there is something weighing you down almost every time and if you come out of one challenge, there is something else that weighs you down. "To be honest, my only source of strength is God and I try to build a cordial relationship with Him since I don’t involve myself in any fetish or diabolic things. "Once it gets really overwhelming on me, I just take a break and when I am mentally recuperated, I come back again and keep moving but giving up is never an option. When it gets overwhelming, I just ghost and unwind and then come back better than I left. https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2024/07/10/i-have-handled-200-million-naira-project-26-year-old-anambra-carpenter1/
