UDUF Africa:Why Nigerian banks lend me money without collateral – Coscharis The Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Coscharis Group, Dr Cosmas Maduka, has stated that transparency, accountability, honesty, trustworthiness and decency were the reasons why Nigeria banks are lending him money without demanding for a collateral in accordance with the banking law. Maduka disclosed this while mentoring Nigeria youths on how to be self-disciplined, responsible, hardworking, determined, dedicated and focused in their various fields of endeavour at a two-day 2025 Under 45 CEOs Business and Leadership Summit with the topic: “From power to purpose, leading with ethical courage, organized by Ultimate Destiny Uplifters Foundation (UDUF Africa), held at Bishop Patterson auditorium , All Saints Cathedral,Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra State, on Saturday. According to him, faith in God, self-belief and trust are what every Nigerian youth need at the moment to grow and develope themselves and the country at large. “I didn’t do money ritual to grow, I made my money through faith in God and the trust people bestowed upon me. What you build on people last longer than what you build for yourself. You wouldn’t believe that in the last thrity years I never signed cheque of Coscharis Group despite having Yorubas as my Group Managing Director and Financial controller respectively as a typical Igbo man from Nnewi, Anambra State. ” I am reciprocating that trust people, investors and Nigeria Financial Institutions bestowed on me that have graciously lead me to the position I found myself today. I am looking for value and not tribalism as a humble man who started hustling as an Akara seller in Jos, Plateau State. “You must learned to be trusted if you want to change your negative narratives in this World. Today, we live in a place where trust is almost impossible. Nobody will believe your vision and passion until you believe in yourself. You are the change Nigeria is looking for. “I didn’t start life as a CEO, I started as an Akara seller in Jos, Plateau State, after I lost my father at the age of four. ” I rose to this position I am today, through faith in God and self-belief. “I didn’t do my business along government sectors, I didn’t build Coscharis to prove that I am a powerful Nigeria, I built it because I believe that business is a calling. My guiding principles is whatever thing you do, do it as unto the Lord. Success is not about what you gain but about who you become and how you serve the society. Success without integrity lead to destruction. Focus without purpose is like a motion without direction. “Because of my honest determination to grow and my trustworthiness, banks in Nigeria are lending me money without demanding for collateral, and the bank that first risk the trust in me was Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB). “In 1977, I founded Coscharis Motor, a one- man trading venture that grew into the Coscharis Group, a wholly Nigerian-owned conglomerate with interest spanning automobile, auto-assembly, logistics, IT, agriculture, medical equipment, food and beverages, and chemicals. Today, the group represents leading global brands such as BMW, Jaguar,Land Rover, Ford, Renault and roll royce with operations across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones and in Ghana, Sierra Leone and Japan respectively. “When you live a life of integrity, people will trust you, investors will believe you and most importantly God would back you up. Do not look for change, you are the change Nigeria is yielding for. I therefore urged you all to used what you have learned here today to develop a vision that will change the socio-economic hardship Nigerians are currently going through at the moment, Maduka concluded. With F9 in Mathematics and English, Ukachukwu Is not Qualified to Lead Anambra-- Soludo Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has described the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 8th governorship election in the state, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu as a person not qualified to govern the state. Soludo equally stated that the APC governorship candidate whose stock-in-trade is land-grabbing, should consider being a tipper driver rather than conceiving the idea of becoming governor of a state that has produced the likes of Chinua Achebe, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Akwueke Nwafor Orizu, Chuba Okadigbo, Dr. Alex Ekwueme and a host of other academic and political icons. Soludo who made these observations during the inauguration of the APGA 2025 Anambra Governorship Election Campaign Council at the party's regional headquarters Agu-Awka at the weekend, maintained that Nicholas Ukachukwu is absolutely not qualified to govern Anambra State because he doesn't possess the requisite academic standing as evident in the credentials he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as his academic qualifications. He said that the APC governorship candidate university failed English and Mathematics and wondered how he'll be able to read official documents and calculate Anambra money. Speaking further he confirmed that the University purported to have awarded PhD degree to the APC candidate has no accreditation in the United States of America and that it is equally not recognized by the National University Commission (NUC), describing such qualification as fake and very unbecoming of someone aspiring to become governor of a state like Anambra. The governor therefore revealed that in no distant time his government will begin to clampdown on people with fake certificates in the same manner he tackled the menace of fake native doctors, fake pastors and prophets and others involved in obnoxious practices, adding that the likes of Nicholas Ukachukwu are setting bad precedents for the younger generations. https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2025/09/06/with-f9-in-mathematics-and-english-ukachukwu-is-not-qualified-to-lead-anambra-soludo/

The NBA Conference In Enugu: A Master Stroke For The Image And Economy Of The South East. Micheal Amakeze In recent times, the South-East has often been in the news for all the wrong reasons—resurgence of Biafran separatist movements, heightened insecurity, and reports ranking states in the region among the least investment-friendly and commercially viable. These narratives have been amplified by the macabre chants of the Yoruba Ronuists, who at every turn urge easterners to “go back home,” painting that “home” as hostile and unwelcoming. Against this backdrop, the recently concluded Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual Conference in Enugu has proven to be a landmark event for the South East. Enugu displayed stability, hospitality, and organizational competence. Beyond being a gathering of lawyers, the conference was a strategic soft-power victory for the South East—reshaping perceptions and biases, boosting the local economy, and fostering connections and opportunities. In the face of rising divisive rhetoric, the event stood as a subtle but firm statement that the South East remains invested in the unity of Nigeria and in democratic dialogue. One of the most important outcomes of the conference was the political rebranding of the South East. In recent years, the region has been unfairly portrayed as unstable, synonymous with insecurity and secessionist agitations. By hosting a national conference that attracted legal luminaries, judges, academics, and policymakers from across the country, Enugu projected a counter-narrative: one of stability, hospitality, and intellectual vibrancy. The conference reaffirmed the South East as an integral part of Nigeria’s legal and political landscape, underscoring the region’s continued role in shaping national conversations on democracy and justice. Equally significant were the economic benefits. The influx of thousands of delegates created an immediate boom for the local economy, particularly in the hospitality and service sectors. Hotels were fully booked, restaurants overflowed with patrons, transport operators prospered, and local businesses recorded unusual activity. Beyond these immediate gains, the successful hosting of the conference positioned Enugu as a viable destination for future high-profile national and international events. This recognition opens doors to long-term opportunities in tourism, investment, and business. The conference also had cultural significance. Attendees from across Nigeria experienced first-hand the hospitality and cultural richness of the Igbo people—through their cuisine, music, fashion, and art. Such exposure fosters cultural pride, corrects entrenched stereotypes, and promotes inter-ethnic understanding. For young lawyers in the region, the event was especially rewarding: it provided mentoring, networking, and learning opportunities that would ordinarily require costly trips to Lagos or Abuja. The symbolism of hosting the NBA conference in Enugu cannot be overstated. Historically, Enugu served as the capital of Eastern Nigeria and remains the political and cultural heart of the Igbo nation. Hosting the NBA conference in this city was both a recognition of that legacy and a reaffirmation of Enugu’s centrality in national discourse. More importantly, it was a subtle but powerful message to those who would seek to sideline or underestimate the South East in Nigeria’s collective journey. The NBA conference in Enugu was a symbolic and practical triumph for the South East. It reshaped the region’s image, stimulated its economy, showcased its culture, and reinforced Enugu’s status as a hub of intellectual and political activity. At a time when sectional divisions dominate national discourse, the conference stood as a resounding reminder that the South East is not isolated but remains an indispensable partner in Nigeria’s democratic and developmental journey. It is my hope that the government of Enugu builds on the gains of the conference, and that South Eastern governments take a cue—transforming their states into destinations beyond Christmas and burials. https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2025/08/30/the-nba-conference-in-enugu-a-master-stroke-for-the-image-and-economy-of-the-south-east/

Anambra professor asks court to nullify Omenugha’s appointment as VC of Ojukwu varsity One of seven candidates who contested for the Vice Chancellor position at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Chike Osegbue, has urged the National Industrial Court of Nigeria to void Prof. Kate Omenugha’s appointment as VC, deeming it unlawful. In a suit numbered NICN/ARJ/275/2025, Osegbue seeks to be declared the rightful VC, claiming he topped the Governing Council’s recommended list of three candidates. Recall that Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, who is the university’s visitor, appointed Omenugha on August 6 after a selection process led by a joint University Council and Senate committee, chaired by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, the Pro-chancellor. The suit names six defendants: Soludo, Anambra’s Attorney-General, Odinkalu, the COOU Council, the university itself, and Omenugha. Osegbue argues that Omenugha’s appointment violates COOU’s 2014 Law, specifically Ordinance II(4)(d) and Statute VI(1), which mandate appointing the highest-scoring candidate or the second or third as recommended by the council. “The governor’s decision to appoint Omenugha defies the university’s legal framework,” Osegbue’s suit contends, labeling the move “arbitrary and wrongful.” He seeks a court ruling on whether Soludo has the authority to bypass the council’s recommendation and appoint Omenugha in violation of the 2014 COOU Law. Osegbue further requests a declaration that Omenugha’s appointment is “null and void” for contravening the university’s statutes. No hearing date has been set for the case. https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2025/08/27/anambra-professor-asks-court-to-nullify-omenughas-appointment-as-vc-of-ojukwu-varsity/

Two of Nigeria’s major domestic airlines, Air Peace Airlines and United Nigeria Airlines, have fixed their yuletide one-way economy tickets from Lagos and Abuja to the South East and South South at N350,500. The affected routes include flights to Owerri, Enugu, Anambra, Port Harcourt, and Asaba, with inbound trips from these airports to Lagos and Abuja also priced at the same fare. Anambra Community Raises $100,000 to Renovate Teaching Hospital A United States of America, USA, – based medical practitioner and the Traditional Prime Minister of Abagana in Njikoka local government area of Anambra State, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze has said that Igbo people in the diaspora remit more than $60 billion to Nigeria every year. Anakwenze, who is the leader of Igbo people across the globe and runs a chain of hospitals that employs over 5,000 professionals in the USA, told journalists in Awka that the amount made great positive impact in the economy of the South East region He added, however, that the main concern of Nigerians residing abroad is enthronement of the right leadership to make the country to take its rightful place among the comity of nations. According to him, the people in the diaspora have been contributing significantly to the development of their communities and are prepared to do more, provided the right atmosphere is created. He said, for instance, that his people in the USA have raised substantial amount to renovate the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, outpost in his community to improve healthcare services in the area. “We are raising the funds from individual Abagana people and as a group. We already have over $100,000, which was raised last month. We’re also going to approach our people in other parts of the world to do the same. Whatever the government can do is good, but we want to help ourselves as a community,” he added. “We have a lot of educated people and those in business who have a lot of money and they are prepared to support the development of their towns. All they need is to see that we are serious and the money will flow. “The UNTH outpost has been abandoned and we want to make it big. It’s a federal government institution, but it’s been abandoned.”He argued that Nigeria could do much better than it is doing at the moment, lamenting that the problem is that the people running the governments are below average and that is why they are failing the people. He stated: “Nigeria should be aiming to be a world power but we can’t achieve that with the kind of people ruling her. God gave us everything and we can’t manage them, which is very unfortunate. If we have people with brains, Nigeria will be a world power. At the moment, Nigeria is carrying last which is bad. We have to start producing, not sitting and consuming. “It’s shameful that we are still importing almost everything and as long as we continue to do that, our naira will continue to be nothing.” Anakwenze described the Igbo as very important towards fast development of Nigeria and called for their proper inclusion in the affairs of country “Unless Nigeria realizes the value of the Igbos, they will continue to carry last. We have the brain to match the Chinese and the Japanese in manufacturing. The things we manufacture in Aba and Onitsha and Nnewi are what can make the country grow, not sharing money and occupying government positions and giving jobs to family members who are not even qualified to hold such jobs”, he stated. https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2025/08/23/anambra-community-raises-100000-to-renovate-teaching-hospital/

Man Recounts Brother’s Horrible Encounter with Agunechemba A man, Gabriel Ewgutuoha Peter, has narrated a disturbing ordeal involving his younger brother, who he alleged was brutally detained by the Anambra State government-backed security outfit, Agunechemba, otherwise known as “Soludo’s Boys.” In a detailed account posted on Facebook, Gabriel accused the security outfit of unlawful arrest, denial of communication, intimidation, and alleged cover-up in what he described as “a near-deadly experience” that could have ended tragically. According to Gabriel, the incident began in Ihiala Local Government when Udo ga-achi operatives allegedly arrested his brother for driving a car without a plate number. “They carried him across many local governments until they got to Onitsha. In all this arrest drama, they switched off his two phones and never communicated to any of his family members,” Gabriel said He said it took a good Samaritan who spotted his brother “in bad condition in the so-called security cell” to contact their mother and inform the family of his whereabouts. When Gabriel’s elder brother visited the security office in Onitsha to confirm his sibling’s detention, the leader of the unit, identified as Nwaoye Desmond, allegedly denied that the young man was in their custody. “My senior brother was confused. He even told them he had just bought food for my brother in that same cell, yet they kept denying. Desmond became furious when my brother pointed out the security officer who had shown him where my sibling was kept. That officer was later beaten and locked up for two days,” Gabriel recounted. He alleged further that he overheard Desmond making a phone call, lamenting that “the plan won’t work again” because the detainee had been seen and identified by family members. Gabriel said his family was told that the only way to secure his brother’s release was to contact their village’s President General, who in turn would reach out to Kenneth, the Special Adviser to Governor Charles Soludo on Security. “I called Kenneth directly. At first, he acknowledged the arrest but later started avoiding my calls. For days, he refused to pick my calls. Even our President General later stopped answering me after promising to help,” Gabriel alleged. According to him, the turning point came when he escalated the matter to the Anambra State Commissioner of Police. “In less than an hour after my call, the so-called Agunechemba started calling us, saying we should come and carry our brother because a call had come from above. The Police responded professionally without asking for a dime. May God bless them,” he stated. Gabriel withheld some details of what his brother allegedly witnessed inside the detention cell, including reports of other victims who “gave up in his presence and were thrown away.” However, he issued a strong warning to the Anambra State Government. “I want to advise Governor Soludo to carefully check the people he is employing to guard Anambra State. They may be destroying the state themselves instead of protecting it,” he cautioned. He further advised residents of the state to always inform their families of their movements to avoid similar ordeals. The allegations, if confirmed, could expose a dangerous breakdown of lawful security structures in Anambra under the cover of government approval. Civil rights groups are already calling for urgent scrutiny of Agunechemba, warning that unchecked power could degenerate into a human rights crisis in the state. https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2025/08/20/man-recounts-brothers-horrible-encounter-with-agunechemba/ |
INEC, APGA Sabotaged Anambra South By-Election - ADC Senatorial Candidate, Amamgbo Barr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Anambra South Senatorial by-election, has come hard on INEC over what he described as "systemic sabotage" and deliberate disenfranchisement during the just concluded by-election in Anambra State. In a press conference at Awka, Amamgbo alleged that INEC withheld tags for ADC's ward and local government collation agents, effectively crippling the party's ability to defend its votes. He also claimed that INEC circulated a doctored list of polling agents in Ihiala, which differed from the authentic list submitted by ADC. Amamgbo described the election as a "carefully orchestrated charade" designed to undermine the credibility of the process. He criticized Governor Charles Soludo's statement that Labour and ADC parties are "dead" in Anambra, suggesting that the governor's party, APGA, was behind the alleged sabotage. The ADC candidate emphasized that the people of Anambra South deserve an independent voice in the Senate, not a puppet senator controlled by Governor Soludo. He called for a thorough review of the electoral process, institutional reforms within INEC, and an end to the culture of collusion between political parties and electoral officials. Amamgbo vowed to continue speaking out against attempts to undermine democracy and restore faith in the ballot. Parts of Amamgbo's speech reads: "Elections are meant to be the ultimate expression of the people’s will. Instead, what we witnessed was a carefully orchestrated charade designed to obfuscate, suffocate and decimate the people’s voice and choice. Ultimately undermining the credibility of the process. "On the eve of the elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deliberately withheld the tags for our ward and local government collation agents, effectively crippling ADC’s ability to defend the votes of our people at all critical stages of collation. Why one might ask? The answer is the infantile attempt to disillusion and debase ADC the primary opposition party in Nigeria. Look no further than the loquacious and bombastic statement of Professor Charles Soludo that “Labor and ADC parties are dead in Anambra”. If that was so then Anambra South is an electoral crime scene and Professor Soludo election malfeasance is directly to blame. "In Ihiala, INEC went further by circulating a doctored list of polling agents that did not correspond with the authentic list duly submitted by our party and uploaded on the INEC portal. These are not mistakes. They are not clerical oversights. They are acts of sabotage. "I ask: How can an election be free and fair when one party is denied collation agents? That is like asking a team to play football blindfolded while the referee looks the other way. "This sabotage was not random. It was a deliberate and deviant orchestration by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) a political “Cult” in Anambra. "Very devastating is the fact that APGA government has normalised vote buying knowing fully well that the hungry exploited citizens of Anambra state will collect money to vote just to survive another day. "At the centre of this charade is a Senator-elect tethered to the control of Governor Charles Soludo. This is not democracy. This is puppetry". https://anambrapeople.com.ng/2025/08/20/inec-apga-sabotaged-anambra-south-by-election-adc-senatorial-candidate-amamgbo/
