Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday denied media reports suggesting he attended an event convened by his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party. in Abuja. In a text message he personally sent to PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday morning, Mr. Obasanjo said the reports were a ploy by their masterminds to score “cheap political gains”. He also said the reports were manufactured to embarrass or annoy him. He said he was at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre as guest of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the Senate Committee Chairman on Agriculture, when some PDP leaders stormed the venue to great him. “Chief Obasanjo’s resignation from party politics is final,” the statement said. PREMIUM TIMES’ correspondent in Ogun State also quoted the former president as saying, “Those who know me, know that I have publicly announced my quitting partisan politics and those who will believe the purported story will believe anybody who tells him that his or her mother is not a woman. “If I quit a party when it was alive and seemingly united, how could I go back to a now divided, factionalized party grasping for breath?” Later on Saturday afternoon, Mr. Obasanjo’s office issued a more detailed statement saying, “The attention of the former President, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has been brought to the photonews story, which has gone viral on the social media on Friday, August 5, 2016 of his purported being “spotted” at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) event at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja’,the statement reads. ’While ordinarily his first reaction to the news was that those behind it targeted to get him annoyed and embarrassed him, his conclusion was that he has told the world that he has quit partisan politics and that is final. Anybody hoping to drag him back will fail like any man feeding mice to a dead cat’,the statement added. “To clear the minds of doubting Thomas’s and those behind the orchestrated news in circulation and particularly those who had been calling to ascertain what actually happened at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua centre. On the invitation of the Commodities Association Stakeholders, His Excellency, was invited to the “Zero Hunger Nigeria” event at the Centre’, the statement said. “He arrived at about 10.00am and immediately moved to the meeting. The meeting commenced but few minutes into the session, his attention was drawn to the presence of some people walking up to where he was seated. “At closer glance, he recognized them to be politicians and they exchanged pleasantries, saying they came to greet him and they walked out again from the meeting. The former President cracked joke with them calling them “invaders and gate crashers”. The statement said the programme ended and immediately Mr. Obasanjo and his entourage headed back to Lagos. He said he was barely hours in Lagos when he started receiving calls from far and near wanting to find out about his presence at a political party programme in Abuja. The statement added, “The photo news in circulation, which claimed that he was spotted at a political party event is therefore mischievous, as a responsible journalist ought to have gone further to ascertain his actual destination in among the number of venues at the centre and not taking photograph of his alighting from his vehicle to read another meaning. Shocking also to note that the picture was actually taken while on his way out of the Centre after the programme he had attended had finished”. “This is the height of irresponsible journalism, which the former President is calling for its investigation and sanction on anybody involved in order to serve as deterrent to others who may want to be used either by omission or commission to misinform the public on such sensitive issue.” There were reports on Friday (not in PREMIUM TIMES) that Mr. Obasanjo was sighted at the Yar’Adua centre in Abuja, the same venue used by the leadership of the PDP to inaugurate its national convention committees. It later turned out that the former president was at the venue for an entirely different engagement. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/208174-plotted-associate-dying-pdp-obasanjo.html

The Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter, on Sunday declared that the attack on one Francis Emmanuel for eating during the Ramadan was not Islamic. The Chairman of the council, Yusuf Rigachikun, stated this when he led other members of the council to St. Gerard’s Catholic Hospital, Kaduna, where the victim is currently recuperating. The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that Emmanuel, a carpenter, was attacked with knives and other dangerous weapons by unknown persons on Tuesday in Kakuri, Kaduna, for eating during the fasting period. Represented by Tukur Abdussalal, a member of the council, Mr. Rigachikun said that the council was “upset” after receiving the news of the ugly incident and decided to visit and console the victim. “We are deeply sorry that this has happened. It is not Islamic and we condemn it. “We received the news with disbelief and decided as a council to come and console you and share in your pains,” he told Emmanuel. He pointed out that that as a Christian, the victim had nothing to do with Islamic practices, adding that there was no basis for the attack. “Even if it was a Muslim that decided to eat during Ramadan, no one has the right to attack him. The best any one can do is to sue such person to Sharia Court for appropriate action. “In fact, Islam did not forbid eating during Ramadan in the first place to have warranted such ugly incident. “Whatever any Muslim decided to do, fasting or no fasting, is for himself,” Mr. Rigachukun explained. Also speaking, the Secretary of the council, Abdulrahman Hassan, appealed to members of the public to desist from taking laws into their hands. “The action of these people is not Islamic and therefore unacceptable in Islam; even Prophet Mohammed warned that there is no compulsion in Islam,” Mr. Hassan said. The council presented a cash donation of N100,000 as assistance to the victim and wished him quick recovery. Receiving the donation on behalf of the family, Paul Emmanuel, elder brother of the victim, thanked the council for the gesture. “Acts of kindness and affection like this are what we need to promote peaceful coexistence,” he said. Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Wednesday visited Mr. Emmanuel and directed the police to fish out the perpetrators of the attack. He warned that government would not tolerate religious violence and criminality. (NAN) http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/205151-sharia-council-condemns-attack-christian-man-not-fasting.html

rip. chibok girls is scam!!!! in wailers voice |

Parents of abducted Chibok school girls have disclosed that they will be happy to be reunited with their abducted children even if they will come back with ten children. The position of the parents came on the heels of the return of one of the abducted Chibok school girls alongside a child she bore for a Boko Haram member. Speaking to LEADERSHIP Weekend in Mbalala, Chibok local government area, father of abducted Saratu Dauda, Dauda Yama called on the Federal Government to redouble efforts in rescuing the other abducted girls noting that the arrival of Amina Ali Nkeki has inspired in them a renewed hope that their daughters are still alive. When asked what his reaction will be if his abducted daughter turned out with a child like Amina Ali, he responded that even if his daughter turned out with ten children, he will all accept them in good faith. “I don’t care if my daughter come to us with 10 children, as children are a gift from God. But my primary desire is to get reunited with my daughter,” he said. He noted that since his daughter was abducted by Boko Haram insurgents, life has never been the same for his family as they were forced to live in shock and trauma since then. In a similar vein, the mother of Saratu Dauda, Hannatu Dauda called on Mr President to redouble effort in rescuing their abducted daughter saying that since one of them has been rescued all of them could be rescued. When asked whether she will allow her daughter to go back to school if she per adventure she was freed, Hannatu Dauda said “ I will support my daughter to attain the highest level of education. “As a person, lack of education has afflicted my life in a negative way as it has stymied my development and progress in life and for that reason I will support my children to attain the highest level of education,” she said. Similarly speaking, the father of Palmata Musa, Musa Nkeki whose daughter was among the over 200 girls abducted expressed his elation with the coming home of Amina Ali noting that with her rescue, “we are hopeful that our daughters will soon be at home.” http://leadership.ng/news/529022/want-daughters-back-even-10-children-chibok-girls-parents-2
