A man who shocked many in India by leaving his wife and marrying his mother-in-law has now realized his foolishness and filed for divorce.

The man identified as Suraj Mahto, 22, came to limelight after he abandoned his wife Lalita and married her mother, 42-year-old Asha Devi. According to reports, the unusual affair began when Mrs Devi came to stay with the couple in the village of Puraini in the impoverished state of Bihar last year.

It was gathered that Devi looked after Mr Mahto when he became ill and they fell in forbidden love. After the mother-in-law returned home, he would call her and they would talk for hours on the phone and would also visit her at her home.

When Lalita found out about the affair she told her mother to stay away but she refused; even the girl's father could not do anything to stop the forbidden affair.

Even though everyone in the village frowned at the forbidden love, the couple eloped and married on June 1 this year in nearby Dhamdaha. Two months on the couple have both realised they have made a crazy mistake.

The Gulf News reported that Mr Mahto said: 'I have come to realise my folly now. I admit I have committed the mistake but will never repeat in future.

'Now, I no longer treat her as my wife. Rather, I have started paying her regard as
a mother.'

He said he would go on bended knee and beg Lalita to have him back. The couple have a son together.

Mrs Devi is also seeking to undo her actions.

She said of Mr Mahto: 'No longer do I treat him as my husband but as a son-in-law. We have already a filed divorce petition in the court and I want to return to my husband as soon as possible.'

Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Damaturu on Thursday, Muhammadu Fari, Yobe State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said fishermen recovered corpses of two boys from River Nguru on Wednesday.

According to Muhammadu, the boys were likely aged between 13 and 14 years, and that investigation was in progress to ascertain their identity and cause of death, adding that parents and guardians should monitor the movement of their wards to avoid the waters as the rain intensifies.

Premium Times reported that the NSCDC commandant said several houses, farmlands and livestock were destroyed by flood in Adaya village, Potiskum local government area of the state.

“We received report of flooding after down pour in which several people were rendered homeless following destruction of houses and farmlands while livestock were washed away. There was no loss of human life but, eight goats died while several others were missing," he said.

He charged communities living on water ways to relocate from the water routes to avoid further disaster. “There are reports indicating possible flood in Yobe and other states, so the communities should take precautions to safeguard their lives and property “Residents of towns and villages are also advised to evacuate drainage and water channels to pave way for smooth flow of water in their communities,” he cautioned.

Lagos maintained its position at the lowest rungs of the Global Liveability index by ranking the third worst city to live in the world, according to the 2016 ranking by the Economist Intelligence Unit released Thursday.

Lagos placed 138th out of the 140 cities ranked in the latest liveability survey, just above war-ravaged Tripoli and Damascus.

“Of the poorer-scoring cities, 13 continue to occupy the very bottom tier of liveability, where ratings fall below 50 percent and most aspects of living are severely restricted,” the report stated.

“Continued threats from groups like Boko Haram acts as a constraint to improving stability in Lagos.”

Escalations in hostilities in Libya prompted a sharp decline in liveability in Tripoli, according to the report, while Damascus, although seeing a stabilisation in its decline remained rooted to the bottom.

The top five best countries to live in, according to the report, remain unchanged from last year and include Melbourne, Australian; Vienna, Austria; Vancouver, Canada; Toronto, Canada; and Calgary, Canada.

The liveability survey assesses which locations around the world provide the best or the worst living conditions across five broad categories – stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.

Of the five categories, Lagos scored highest in culture and environment, followed by infrastructure. It scored lowest in stability.

Three other African cities joined Lagos at the bottom rung of the liveable cities, with Douala, Cameroon; Harare, Zimbabwe; and Algiers, Algeria; ranking 132nd, 133rd, and 134th respectively.

While no African city made it to the top 10 most liveable cities, five were in the 10 least liveable cities. Steve Ayorinde, the Lagos
State Commissioner for Information, could not be reached for comments on Thursday.

Phone calls, text messages, and emails were not responded to.

The ranking of Lagos among the least liveable cities of the world come amidst a massive revenue drive and huge infrastructural investment by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

The government generated N101.69 billion in the first quarter of 2016, N4.85 billion more than in the same period last year.

Lagos has consistently ranked in the 10 least liveable cities since 2011, ranking 137th out of 140 in that year. It ranked 138th in 2012, and then remained at 137th until this year.

A pastor has been totally embarrassed and disgraced before congregation members on Sunday after he was brought before the church leadership for sexually abusing a church member and impregnating her.

According to H-Metro, Pastor Joseph of Holy Fire Ministries in Waterfalls was hauled into the storm after one of the members he allegedly had s*x with noticed that her belly was swelling and itching even though pregnancy tests proved she was not expecting.

After the discovery however, efforts to get in touch with the pastor has proved futile.

So on Sunday, Pastor Joseph was said to have spotted the victim in the midst of his sermon and pretended to be tired to avoid meeting his lover.

He was however taken to the meeting after the latter threatened to expose the affair to church members.

“My tummy is just swelling and I am in pain. I suspect Pastor Joseph could have bewitched me after he forced me to have unprotected s*x with him,” said the victim.

“Pastor Joseph asked me to see him after church service sometime in April for prayers but the prayers could not be conducted as he asked for sexual favours.

“Since he is single, I gave in after he promised to marry me and buy a car for me and from that time he
accommodated me over night.

“He refused to use protection claiming that he is a holy man that cannot live with HIV but now I feel cheated, abused and dumped because he is no longer
answering my calls from the day I told him about the pregnancy.

“Results from the pregnancy tests are negative and the doctor instructed me to go for a scan and Pastor Joseph promised to meet the costs but is now playing hide and seek.

“What I want from Pastor Joseph is for him to explain and give me assurances that he never used charms to me.

“I also want him to explain why he is blocking my calls after I told him about my condition.

“He defiled the room where prayers are conducted because this is where he forced me to have sexual intercourse with him leaving me with more questions than answers on the reason for using that prayer room instead of other bedrooms at the house,” said the victim.

The victim also disclosed to elders that one of the pastors Hazvinei Muchefa was aware of how Pastor Joseph abused young ladies.

Efforts to contact Muchefa were fruitless by the time of going to print.

However, Pastor Joseph confirmed his affair with the woman saying he wanted a closed door meeting with elders for a way forward.

“She (victim) is my girlfriend, I know her and she is beautiful for sure but as for not taking her calls, it was because I was busy,” said Pastor Joseph.

“At one time my handset was taken by people who are investigating a certain story concerning me that I cannot disclose to you.

“As for more information concerning what she is claiming, I think it is better for me to meet the elders privately for a way forward and that’s what I can say for now,” said Pastor Joseph.

Church elder Chepa told H-Metro that church leadership is taking the allegations seriously since the leader is not a Zimbabwean.

“Church elders are going to meet for way forward since Pastor Joseph confirmed the incident although he was not keen to meet us over the story,” said Elder Chepa.

“The woman (victim) approached me with such allegations and I could not believe that our pastor was defiling the place of worship by
conducting such evil acts and our concern is to find the number of ladies he abused,” said Elder Chepa.

A 32-year-old man has been given the shock of his life and left with serious agony after he woke up from deep sleep only to see his manhood on fire.

He was shocked to discover that his wife had purposely set his manhood on fire over a disagreement.

According to K24TV, Antony Werunga who is now admitted at the Lumakanda Hospital in Kakamega County, Kenya said he woke up around 3am only to find himself on fire.

Werunga said that he cried out to his wife for help but discovered she had deliberately locked him inside the house.

Speaking on what might have caused his wife to do such a wicked act, Werunga revealed that he had engaged the wife in a serious scuffle for burning his land agreement document.

Werunga swore not to go back to the mother of his six children as he does not know if his manhood will still be functional.

A girl has caused real shock in her community after she joined prostitution to raise money for eye surgery.

According to H-Metro, the woman, who only identified herself as Kelly of Chitungwiza, told H-Metro that she wanted to raise US $500 needed for her treatment and has engaged her lover to protect her.“My life is no longer the same following the passing on of my mother and this forced me into prostitution my brother,” said Kelly.

“I have no problem of accommodation since I am renting a room with my boyfriend Elton in Unit K Chitungwiza and he is the one who keeps all the money I receive from the men I render services to. “Elton makes sure he records all the vehicle registration numbers of motorists who hire me and makes sure I am secured.

Rachel told H-Metro that she helps Kelly by holding her hand when approaching her potential clients saying most of the clients are after young ladies.

“Kelly is getting more customers and we have agreed with all hookers around this place that we must not compete with her since she is after raising money for eye surgery,” said Rachel.
