A thirty-five-year-old woman has been
arrested by the Cape
Coast police for allegedly killing her
three-week-old grandchild and burying her in a shallow grave, Happy Ghana FM reports.

It was gathered that
the suspect, Grace Amoah also known
as Esi Yeboada, a petty trader was exposed by her 17-year-old daughter Joyce Amoah, a JHS two pupil who was the mother of the
deceased.

It was revealed that
Grace killed the baby,
collected a shovel
from a neighbour and
secretly buried the
body behind a public
toilet at an outskirt of Akotokyer, a suburb of Cape Coast.

However, her luck ran
out after Joyce Amoah told the police that her mother [Grace] started
picking quarrels with
her when she [Joyce]
became pregnant.

Her reason was that
Joyce was still a pupil
and was still in school.

She further revealed
that when she was
delivered of the baby,
her mother who was
also nursing a baby
asked her to give the
grandchild to her for
her to breastfeed her
whilst she [Joyce]
continued with her
schooling.

Things took an ugly
turn in the early
hours of Tuesday
April 5, 2016 as Joyce
claimed she couldn't
find the whereabouts of the baby and asked her mum, whom she
shares the same
room with but she
denied knowing the
whereabouts of the
baby.

The case was reported to the police and Grace was subsequently
arrested. After she
was interrogated,
Grace voluntarily led
police to the place
she buried the baby's dead body and exhumed it. The body
has since been deposited at the Cape
Coast Hospital.

According to the Ghanaian Times newspaper Grace was arraigned before the Cape Coast Magistrate Court on Wednesday and was remanded in police custody until April 21, 2016.

The newspaper reported that the
prosecution told the
court that Grace in
her caution statement denied killing the grandchild but said she secretly buried the child after she discovered he
was dead.

One young man is
taking the Nigerian fuel crisis into his own hands, quite literally according to CNN.

"It's insane," said Subomi Owo-Odusi,
founder of FueledUp,
describing the interest in his business, an app due to launch at the end of May that will
deliver fuel straight
to its users in Lagos.

"A lot of people are keen," he said.

"This will take away
a lot of the pain and
pressure and stress
of people waiting for
hours," said the 23-
year-old Owo-Odusi,
describing the situation in Nigeria, which is witnessing another round of fuel shortages and leaving many to wait in line for hours.
Nigeria is no stranger
to a fuel crisis.

Despite being Africa's
largest oil producer, it
had massive fuel shortages a year ago
which nearly paralyzed the country. Long lines
became the norm,
and crowds of people
had to push their
way through gas
stations with jerry
cans at hand.

In the past several
days, the ongoing
shortage of fuel has
hit another crisis
point and many locals
have taken to social
media to vent their
frustration. Fuel is used not just for cars and trucks in Nigeria, but also commonly used to
power generators for
homes and businesses across the country.

Many Nigerians commonly have limited
electricity daily.

Working in a fuel
distribution company for the past two years, Owo-Odusi said the idea came to him from his
experiences of life in
Lagos. "I understand
the stress that people here have," said the enthusiastic Lagos native.

How it works?

After downloading
the app, users will be
able to touch a "Get
Fueled Up" button, which shows the price per liter. Then, the user enters how much fuel they need, vehicle information and choose a delivery time frame.

There are three tiers:
priority which delivers
in 30 minutes to an
hour, expectant which promises delivery in 30 minutes to two hours, and flexible which has a
three hour guarantee.

"Delivering on time, in
traffic-laden Lagos, is
the major priority,"
said Owo-Odusi.

The Nigerian government has established a camp for
repentant Boko Haram
members, the country’s defence
headquarters has said.

This was disclosed by the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Rabe
Abubakar via a statement released
by PR Nigeria on
Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

It reads:

In line with the Federal Government’s commitment to the
war against insurgency in the North East and in
furtherance of its
efforts to rehabilitate and reintegrate surrendered and repentant Boko Haram terrorist members, the
Defence Headquarters has established
rehabilitation camp in
an Exercise known as
Operation SAFE CORRIDOR.

The main focus of
Operation SAFE CORRIDOR is geared
towards rehabilitating and reintegrating the
repentant and the
surrendering Boko Haram members back into normal life in the society. The repentant terrorists in the Camp would be taken through
various vocational
training so that they
could be useful to
themselves and be
empowered to
contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of their fatherland.

The Defence
Headquarters therefore wishes to appeal to other recalcitrant terrorist members that are still carrying arms
against their fellow
citizens in our nation
to repent today and
benefit from numerous
opportunities offered
by the Camp.

The Jude Okoye’s Northside Entertainment artist now moves around in taxis as a result
of her car theft.

A source close to the ‘I’m Taken’ crooner
confirmed to Naij.com that like anybody in her
shoes, Cynthia is
quite down psychologically
and emotionally
at the moment.

She has also decided to be indoors, keeping
to herself most of the time.

The white Range Rover that was stolen.

“But if it is important for her to go out, she
takes taxis. I
actually understand her
grief because she
said goodbye to that club barely six months ago when the Range
Rover arrived, but
she is back to square one now.

It hurts everybody,” our source said.

The automobile
with customized registration number KRUZZ was stolen about two weeks ago
from a compound in Omole Phase1 where Cynthia’s driver parked it after dropping
her at the airport.

The driver, who was later arrested by Cynthia as a suspect, was the first to report
the theft incident
at Grammar School police station, Ojodu,
Lagos.

Efforts by the police to recover the vehicle have
so far proved abortive.

Minister of State for
Petroleum Resources
Dr. Emmanuel Ibe
Kachikwu, yesterday
said fuel queue will be
over in Abuja and
Lagos this week.

He projected that
queues in Kano, Katsina, Sokoto and Port Harcourt and other states will dissipate
subsequently.

The minister also
hinted of a price
adjustment next month.

He told officials of
the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) in Abuja that the ministry will take the right decisions however hard they might be. He added that the government will prevent the return of the subsidy regime.

He said: “Today, we
have the fuel queues
and it is completely a
nightmare for me.

The reality is that I
am hurt, I am very
emotional about my
job. And there isn’t
still much. We just
need to take the
right policies as hard
as they are and as
difficult as they are
to ensure we do not
return to the policy of
subsidy.

“And hopefully, tomorrow/Thursday, the fuel queues in Abuja must be over and
thereafter Kano,
Katsina , Sokoto, Port
Harcourt and other
states.”

He added that there
is price modulation
that made government to save a lot of money in the first quarter which it will now use to fund the present excess.

“In May, there will be
a slight adjustment
to match the current
trend.”

He explained that his
major concern is not
only the ongoing fuel
queues but how to
avoid a re-occurrence.

According to him, the
Federal Government
needs to build strategic fuel reserves that it has not done in the last
20 years.

Kachikwu said to avoid the reoccurrence,
government needs to
build strategic reserves for it to be able to respond to fuel shortage for six
to nine days.

He said: “We need to
find the allocation of
the resources to be
able to complement
the majors to be able
to bring in products.

But that is not a
futuristic long term
solution and there is
no better way than
to steer to the path
of privatization. And
it is not necessarily
synonymous to
increase in price. “

The Independent
National Electoral
Commission (INEC) on Friday, April 1, said that
it did not disqualify, the
PDP candidate for Akuku-Toru Constituency 11, Mr.

Tonye Alalibo, from
participating in re-run election in Rivers.

Speaking in Port
Harcourt, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr Aniedi
Ikoiwak, said that
the judgment of the
election tribunal and
Court of Appeal
excluded the party
and its candidate
from participating in
the election.

It would be recalled
that the All Progressives Congress candidate (APC), Mr Fredrick Anabraba, won the election for the
constituency with
2,970 votes.

Ikoiwak explained
that two days to the
re-run, the commission wrote to the state chapter of PDP informing it that
the party and its
candidate had been
excluded in the
election.

"The decision was
taken by the commission in compliance with the
judgment of the tribunal and that of
the Court of Appeal,”
he said.

The commissioner
said insinuations that
the commission
deliberately disqualified the candidate was false and baseless.

He said the courts
took the decision and
INEC complied.

Ikoiwak said the
commission will fix a
date for repeat
election in the eight
local government
areas where the
exercise was
cancelled due to
irregularities.

The Nigerian Army has said that its fight
against terror is aimed at Boko Haram as a
whole and not at the sect’s leader, Abubakar
