For full details read on >>>https://uzopedia./2016/03/29/governor-wike-isnt-interested-in-reconciling-with-amaechi/ Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has accused his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi of being desperate to control the state. Wike also accused Amaechi of being behind the constant redeployment of security officers from the state. “It is difficult for anybody to defeat us in Rivers State because of the projects I have done in my short stay in office, and the fact that Rivers is a PDP state. The civil servants are happy with us. Nobody would be happy when, at the end of the month, they cannot take their wages home,” he said on Monday, March 28, 2016, while appearing on Channels Television. “The continued removal of the commissioners of police, director of State Security Service and other security chiefs in the state is to frustrate our effort. Of course, the minister is behind this, and people are saying we should reconcile. In what way? “That means if I reconcile with him, they would not be removing my security chiefs. That was why I said we are personalising this, it shouldn’t be. If there is need that we should come together to talk, we should not be desperate to take over the state. As far as I am concerned, I don’t >>>CONTINUE READING>>>https://uzopedia./2016/03/29/governor-wike-isnt-interested-in-reconciling-with-amaechi/ |

The senior special assistant to the vice- president on media and publicity, Laolu Akande in a statement on Thursday, March 17, said President Buhari will deliver the keynote address during the retreat’s opening session on Monday. Akande said Osinbajo, being the chairman of NEC, which is an advisory body to the President, would preside over the retreat with governors from the 36 states of the federation attending. Others expected at the meeting, include the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele; and the minister of budget and national planning, Udo Udoma, among other top government functionaries. The statement added that the objective of the NEC retreat is to provide a forum for in- depth discussions by NEC members of the policy actions that the states and the Federal Government can consider in order to stimulate local production, cut costs and enhance public revenues among other measures to stimulate the economy. In a related development, President Buhari said the current economic crisis, plaguing the nation, was a blessing in disguise. The president who stated this at the opening ceremony of the International Islamic Conference on Peace and Nation Building in Abuja on Thursday, March 17, also said through the hardship, Nigerians would be able to come up with ideas that would in turn lead to development. He said: “The global economic challenges the world is grappling with today might well turn out to be a blessing for us in Nigeria, because it will stimulate the latent economic opportunities that we have left untapped for decades. https://uzopedia./2016/03/15/court-discharges-father-over-alleged-rape-of-his-daughter/ An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on Tuesday discharged a 48- year-old father, Sanni Idowu, charged with alleged defilement of his 15-year-old daughter for lack of evidence. The judge, Justice Muktar Abimbola, discharged Idowu when the prosecuting counsel, Mr S. Omokanye, asked for adjournment because he could not get his witnesses. Omokanye had urged the court to grant him a short adjournment to enable him get the witnesses in the matter. Abimbola, however, said that it was cleared that the prosecutor was not ready to prosecute the case thereby causing undue delay in the matter. The judge said that if prolonged trial of the defendant was allowed it would lead to undue incarceration. “Justice was not only for the claimant and the society but also for the defendant. “The defendant has been in the prison custody for almost three years without meaningful progress in the prosecution of the case. “Since the arraignment of the defendant on Nov.3, 2013, no single investigative police officer has ever appeared or been called by the prosecuting counsel to prosecute the case. “I, hereby, strike out the case and discharged the defendant for lack of prosecution,’’ Abimbola said. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Idowu was facing trial on a one-count charged of rape. The prosecuting counsel had earlier told the court that the defendant unlawfully had CONTINUE >>>https://uzopedia./2016/03/15/court-discharges-father-over-alleged-rape-of-his-daughter/ |
