Three factors playing out:

1. The King isnt as popular as the Late queen Elizabeth. The people are not use to the change yet and they dont seem like they want to or going to get use to it anytime soon.

They won't deport him, he said some politicians might want to kill or harm him in retaliation for what he did. I believe that's a ground for asylum and possible citizenship in the west these days. He played a fast one on someone who has been doing it for years.
