InvestmentRe: Why Is First Bank's Share Price Falling by Angelstartups(f): 3:28pm On Oct 11, 2014
Hello.

Several factors some of which include;

(1) Market forces (demand and supply)
(2) Market sentiment as a result of general elections coming next year
(3) Foreign/ local investors trading (selling) high volumes of their shares to buy treasury bills in the short term
(4) Profit taking

Do not be too bothered as a value investor, the bank will likely declare bonus and most certainly issue dividends by end of financial year. The fundamentals of the bank is solid as usual.

InvestmentRe: Pls What Business Should I Do With N150,000 by Angelstartups(f): 3:20pm On Oct 11, 2014
Hi @tos4u.

Starting a business in Nigeria may look easy, however keeping it going strong is the bone of contention with varying business risks. Do note this: your first investment in any business will most likely go down the drain. Yes, down the drain (its like a seed you plant and expecting future harvest). If you fear this, then continue with your job with diligence while you invest in someone's business that has integrity.

This is our candid advice:

You must first understand yourself: are you a risk-taker or you are neutral? You must be ready to lose your first seed fund if you are truly risk-taker to start all over again. Either way, split your capital into say 2 and invest a part in that business that you naturally find interesting and you are passionate about (so when the cash isn't flowing, passion can keep you going). Ask yourself, what business do you believe you can do better than those already doing it? The best bet is to start from within your neighbourhood and scan the 'need' people are yearning for (it could be speed of service, it could be reduced price of some goods, it could be exceptional customer service, it could be quality of product), make sure its within your budget.

Nigeria is a great country, a great nation, with different challenges and problems, but buried inside these challenges and problems are POTENTIAL OPPORTUNITIES. Its for you to pick the problem within your reach, start first and learn the ropes over time. You will make mistakes, but make them FAST and learn from them FAST. At that stage, you may then require the 2ND PORTION of your capital to support the business/ pull you through the difficulties.

Remember to read, learn, read and continue to read about the business, be accountable to the business (if you can't get an accountant) and have a road map (a business plan) to serve as compass for you.

Come to www.angelstartups.com.ng, sign up as an investor and learn how to go about that business that you are passionate about.

You will succeed.

Hello.
Professional advice:Dont even dabble into any business and expect returns within a month.Infact you are never adviced to start any type of business solely with loan/debt.
If you try stocks, you could earn upto 50% in 1month,just as you could lose 50% in a month.
you invest in fixed deposit, you would barely earn 1% within the month.
VERDICT:Dont try any business, dont risk stocks, try fixed deposit with a reputable bank.
Cheers.
InvestmentRe: How To Invest 5m Capital by Angelstartups(f): 6:11am On Sep 27, 2014
Hello. Its important to inform you that business is both risky and rewarding.it could also go sour and you lose all your money at a go.
Professional advice:
If you are risk_adverse,then dont dabble into any business, but invest in treasury bills, bonds, fixed deposit, mutual funds, these are almost riskless investment.
If you are a risk_taker,split your money into 3,invest one part in a business you have soft spot for(sign up as an investor on angelstartups.com.ng to find one),invest another part in treasury bills and co.,and keep the third portion in your account (fixed). This will help you watch if the business is viable and lucrative after few months, and you can invest more in it later,if not,you will have 2/3rd of your funds intact.Note:Nigeria treasury bills, bonds, yields average of 10%p.a this year.
Remember to join angelstartups.com.ng as an investor. All the best.

InvestmentRe: Will Large Firms/organisations Consider Proposals From Business Name Companies? by Angelstartups(f): 5:16pm On Sep 19, 2014
Hello.

Its important to always have the main trade secrets withheld from who ever your audience is and just give a peripheral idea of what the proposal is about, until potential investor show much seriousness and you sense integrity. You may never know, that secret will be the unique selling value to differentiate you and propel you to greatness.

Most ideas are not really entirely new, but a tweak of already existing businesses.

Your friend should find a professional Corporate Lawyer within his environ that he can afford, discuss with him, consult him for his advice and ensure he takes him along for one of those meetings with the Organisations. He can offer him some commission (10-20%) from deals he gets, the lawyer may be more willing to charge less and observe work ethics.
