Limahgirl: Diary of a FTM
Abeg, these our Los, don't they get filled up? I mean, to eat and be satisfied. My baby sucks every now and then and never get tired. Both night and afternoon. Na their way o Please after breastfeeding and changing diaper, if the baby still cries what can be done? nothing, just pray she sleeps or carry her around if not continue breastfeeding Actually, i think the first few weeks is always boring. Its always about breastfeeding and changing diapers
Although she shows signs that she is still hungry even after feeding. Signs like yearning repeatedly or sucking tongue or twisting mouth up and down. She might not be full. Their stomach is small, so they may require frequent feeding in bits meanwhile, I think they usually depend on the breast to console themselves while settling in this new environment
Another issue I have is with my breast. I have an inverted nipple, although one is better than the other. She struggles sucking from the very flat one and cries. It's not comfortable for her at all as the nipple is really inside. I have tried so many things from using hand to pull it to using syringe ( very painful), it didn't work. It will still go back inside after like four suckings. I resolve to be giving her one breast to suck from and then be extracting from the one with very flat nipple. Even while extracting, I realized I get little quantity of milk from it. since she's not sucking on it much it may be reason for the little quantity you getting from it. Why not get nip.ple shield. I heard it works for people with this issue
I guess this also contribute to while she's always crying while sucking from it. Now the issue is, the one she sucks often pains me a lot. The nipple has even turn reddish. Please any cream that I can apply to the nipple to reduce the pain?Sorry, it will get better by the day, you can get lanolin nipp.le cream
Lastly, can new born baby wear light cloth or must it always be overall everytime? I noticed my baby sweats a lots. Not compulsory, Dress your baby according to weather, though sometimes that sweat na scam.
Thank you everyone as I awaits your responses and please forgive my long post. |

momokiddies: someone help , please. my baby is four weeks old. he passes gas a lot and I can tell this gasses are painful with the way he stretches his legs and feet and sometimes cry afterwards. secondly, he poops after every feed. he is basically on breast milk . could it be something I am eating ? my mother in-law said it is jedi-jedi that I should get campfra and put in water for him to drink. I have been reluctant to do that.
thirdly, he seems he has stomach pains as he stretches and every time as someone who is in pains. should I be worried and go see a doc? my main concern is the poo after every feed and the painful gas he passes frequently.
thanks Baby can poo after every feeding, it's nothing to worry about. It's not jedijedi and Yes it's normal The frequency or times a baby passes stool is not a problem as long as it's not watery. Normal poo looks like Egusi in color and texture paediatricians says Some babies can pass stools up to 12 times daily which is perfectly normal |

4realwoman: both of us are positive. The whole thing started 3days after he was born, they discovered the jaundice and he was put under the light and after few day we were discharged and ask to come back 2days later for follow up test which we did and it went back up to 16 and he was placed under the light again before we were discharge again and ask to come back for another follow up it then went back from 9 to 11but the private hospital felt it was nothing to worry about but people around us keep saying it's not go to circumcise him when the jaundice is still in his body which made us to carry out jaundice test to check the level so that we can circumcise him only for the result to come back 18 you needed to see me that as I was just crying, someone directed us to one general hospital on Abraham Adesunya Maternity and Child center, that was how we rushed to the place and they had to redo the test which came back 11. N his PCV was 31 and the Dr gave us antibiotics to use for one week and see them again in a week time. I went back on Tuesday to see the Dr and the same test was carried out but according to the Dr's the jaundice is nothing to worry about as he has passed the danger stage and it will clear with time but their major concern is his blood level for his again is low which made them to admit us that Tuesday to give him blood and we were discharged yesterday. His ward was on the 3rd floor and I kept on going up and down now as I am typing now all my body is seriously paining me and yet my breast milk is not flowing the way I want it to flow and I have used everything usable like cookies, palm wine, breast milk granola that am yet to use still nothing. It making me feel bad as if I am seriously failing my son. Missing my MIL badly, can't wait for her to come and pamper me. Ehyah...... Sorry, that's lot of stress for you. This too shall pass, baby will be fine. Stress may be contributing to why you not lactating well. Just continue feed him formula say every 2 hour and put him to breast in between if he's not asleep. The idea and target now is to raise his PCV while he also excrete the remaining jaundice from his system (that was the advice the consultant pediatrician gave us with my senior boy tho he wasn't transfused) You are not failing your son sis, The breast milk will flow and All will be well. If there are ways to bring in your MIL, even if to chatter a private car please do it will be expensive but will save you lots of stress. Caring yourself, newborn and a toddler alone is not an easy thing. I can relate because lockdown didn't allow me to get help when I gave birth too but thank God I pulled through. God is your strength sis |

June cappo, @4realwoman I just read you are still treating jaundice, that must be stressful for you. Weldone ma, I pray for strength for you. Are you Rhesus negative? Asking because they need to know if the cause is due to Rhesus Incompatibility so they can face the treatment from the source. Please ask questions. I pray for quick recovery for your prince and strength for you. |

unex50: Good day mums, since this aunty came back from her granny's it's been one attitude to another.. Like she always wants me to carry her, cries without any reason, I will pet, talk, role play tire.. She's just 19months...
Sometimes my patience level runs short, I'll just allow her cry.. The good thing is just that she can feed her self and eats everything, I feel like sending her back to her granny, she doesn't do shakara when she's there.. But with me oh lord, I have to beg, talk.. This midnight own just weak me Granny knows how to spoil their grankids (its love tho) she might have been used to the carrying and gumbody from their. Have patience with her and with time she will adjust. If you because of this send her back, ahe will still come back one day. By then you will be dealing with a truckload of attitude |

bettylizzy: Thanks ma. I appreciate. Don't no if its just weight oo, though the doctor said my baby needed to add more weight. If they mention the weight, then its something to look into. 1.5kg is still small I think. It means your worry shouldn't be the jaundice as such but the weight. Above all, you should be carried along with whatever they are doing and the state of your baby. Did you not say its a private hospital, they should not deprive you the information you need since you are paying them |

Lisa001: I gave birth last month via CS due to how I out to bed I couldn't breastfeed my baby that day so he was introduced to Formula even though I wanted Exclusive Breastfeeding for 6 months.ever since I've been feeding him with both breastmilk and formula.
My mother isn't in town so I had to go stay with my mother-in-law sister since my mother in law is not in the country so she can bathe the baby since I'm a first-time mother but I noticed each time I want to breastfeed my baby she's always inconvenient telling me I shouldn't spoil him with breast because he will get used to it.since 3 days I noticed my baby doesn't want to be fed with the formula he will push the feeding bottle out with his tongue and start crying so I decided to breastfeed him this morning then my mother-in-law's sister came from nowhere and yanked the baby out of my hand while Breastfeeding him and started shouting the baby must eat the formula that I must not breastfeed him,she fed the baby with the formula with force till he slept off
Mothers pls is this right?I gave birth to him don't I have a say over him?is it true too much of breast will spoil the child as she claims?pls I need your advice I am even angry on your behalf sef. Will she do same to her own daughter or daughter in law? Nonsense! 1. That baby was fed formula doesn't mean you can't still do your exclusive. Just start as soon as the breast milk start flowing well. Even after one month of formula. That's if you really want to do it. 2. Breastmilk doesnt spoil children. 3. She's wicked. 4.This is an indication that your time is up in her house. By now you should have learnt to bath your LO if you have been paying attention. Go back to your house 5. She wants to deprive you the bond between you and your baby that comes with breastfeeding. 6. What is your husband saying? Have you also spoken to your MIL about it? Or just stylishly ask her you heard breastfeeding can spoil babies. Dont tell her who said it so she won't take side. After hearing her opinion, if she disagree, tell her it's her sister that said it. 7. You are a mother to your baby. You owe your baby the duty to protect him. Don't allow anybody take that away from you 8. Yank your baby from you WHAT SHE DID IS ABSOLUTELY NONSENSE! WICKED PEOPLE EVERYWHERE |
