edunwablog: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the country is yet to attain self-sufficiency in rice production. He was speaking at the 4th National Discourse organized in Lagos by The Companion, an association of Muslim Men in Business and the Professions themed ‘Food Security: Unleashing Nigeria’s Natural Potential for self Sufficiency’.
“We used to import $5 million of rice every day. Although local rice is enhancing the economy, it is still more expensive than imported rice,” he said. Professor Osinbajo said that countries normally place subsidy on their rice to make it less expensive.
His words: “We are still at the point where we can do so much better. Once we are able to mill our rice, then we can compete with imported rice in terms of pricing.”Immediate past governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, described Nigeria as a very poor nation that needed to stand up against corruption and improve on food security. .............and her stood up against corruption by chopping billions in his state house in addition to unaccounted for security votes plus inflated contracts that were not done Who are these Assembly of Past/Present Crooks, APC rogues fooling but themselves?Rogues everywhere you go forming saints while owing salaries and allowances for years after stealing the people's money. www.nairaland.com/attachments/2042395_b7fvnpiiaabroh_jpeg81b2c4466e71003dbe03de8be0975de0 |

lonelydora: Nigerians are too corrupt. And that's why we can't move forward as a country. Not only in Government organizations, the corruption in Private sectors are worse than what we see in government sector.
Why stash cash abroad? This is the only reason I hated how James Ibori, former govenor of Delta State, was treated. He is the only politician that stole and re-invested it in Nigeria. At least, he gave many jobless Nigerians little hope of living. Bizibi: hehehehe, this man!!! Na so now. Oshi-omo-Ole confirmed the Vacant Pastor's (VP) redeeming pardon into sainthood not so long ago also. FactBoyz: The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has said politicians’ sins are forgiven when they join the ruling party.
Oshiomhole made this statement on Thursday, while welcoming new members to the party, at the APC presidential campaign in Benin.
As he reeled out names of those who have defected from the PDP to the APC, he said: “I am told that there are a lot of very very senior people from PDP who have decided to join forces with President Buhari to take the broom to sweep away PDP and to continue to ensure that APC continues to preside all over Nigeria.
“It includes my own brother, my friend who comes from my own clime, Henry Duke Genebe. He is the former organising secretary of PDP and we also have former vice chairman PDP and leader of Edo North of PDP. We also have my brother Chief Esheshi Godwin. He is also former council chairman and my very dear friend. We have quite a number of other leaders who have come.
“We have quite a number of other leaders who have come… in fact, once you have joined APC, all your sins are forgiven.”

But unfortunately, our military bosses have used our money to buy walking stick finish. They want the war to go on for years, not minding the cost implication of ban rolling the war. The politicians kuku can't do anythingss As military men they chop their own, civilians too they steal their own. Oh there was a country Waiting for the president to walk his talk by using a Nigerian made/assembled car like they used to do in the 1980s with Peugeots mostly. Should I pray for sense to fall on you? www.nairaland.com/attachments/4160988_image_jpeg_jpeg6f95b5e7a24ad4fc0808d6698fd37362Ten years ago — in May 2009 — billionaire philanthropists Bill Gates and Warren Buffett held a private dinner meeting with fellow billionaires in New York City. Oprah reportedly attended, as did David Rockefeller and Michael Bloomberg.
A year later, they revealed what the meeting had been about: Gates and Buffett had been consulting their fellow ultra-rich on philanthropy, and how to get them to do more of it.
In 2010, the two of them launched a campaign that they hoped would change philanthropy: the Giving Pledge. The idea was to persuade their fellow billionaires to pledge at least 50 percent of their wealth to charity. It was greeted with enthusiasm. “Society cannot help but be a beneficiary here, by virtue of at least some dollars and perhaps many,” concluded a thoroughly reported piece in Fortune on the secret meetings that produced the Giving Pledge.
That claim seems to have been borne out — as far as it goes. Ten years later, we are in a position to evaluate some of the effects of the Giving Pledge. Hundreds of billionaires have signed on, with Bloomberg and other big names like Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and Mackenzie Bezos among them. More than $500 billion have been pledged, and money is already being donated to a range of causes.
But somehow, it all feels a little disappointing. Despite their commitment to give at least half of their fortunes away, Gates and Buffett are both richer than when they started. Meanwhile, many other prominent billionaires haven’t signed on to the pledge. There are now 607 billionaires in the US, up from 404 in 2010, and more than 2,000 worldwide — and of that 2,000, only 204 have signed on to the pledge.
https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/2019/7/10/18693578/gates-buffett-giving-pledge-billionaire-philanthropy Proverbs 11:24 (NLT) Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. |

They all have paid their dues. Madam Tinubu paid her dues selling her fellow Africans as slaves to whites and maybe Arabs before them? Continuing to secretly sell slaves after the British banned it? nelsonoba: All I see in that picture is a blind you with chain tied to your own head and Lucifer's iron ball dragging you behind.
They apparently have not told you before that America is primarily a Christian nation where more than 70% of the population believe there is a God as against most European countries where more than 70% will tell you they don't believe in God. Now, the same America that believes in God has roughly the same population as the whole of Europe combined, but their GDP alone is greater than that of All the countries in Europe combined.
The same America that has Christian foundation is currently on record as the most prosperous civilisation/country that has ever existed in the history of mankind! Far more prosperous than all the Western European countries that hardly believe in God. So, tell me again how christianity is what pulls people backward You better go and find the source of the problem of the youths in your country and stop blaming christianity! Have you read books set in the West 200 - 500 years ago?Should we reinforce how we are now as a way to move positively like the West to whom we are losing many of our people, including those who die in Libya and the Mediterranean Sea? todaynewsreview: The bodies of at least 74 migrants have been washed ashore in western Libya, in the latest tragedy along the dangerous trafficking route to Europe. The Libyan Red Crescent posted photos of dozens of bodies in black and white bags lined up along the shore near the western city of Zawiya. A spokesman for the aid organisation said there were still bodies floating out at sea as the agency had no way of retrieving them. He said the migrants were all adults, mostly from sub-Saharan African countries, and all but three were men. The UN migration agency, the International Organisation of Migration (IOM), said the dinghy had set off on Saturday with 110 people on board. The agency said traffickers deliberately took the engines from the boat and then abandoned it to drift.
