Universal truth is not measured in mass appeal. With the benefit of hindsight, we can begin to examine this case more objectively.

The Governor of Borno state-Shettima, ignored security reports and counsels from the Federal Govt and WAEC about possible security threat and why the exam should not hold particularly in Chibok. WAEC have shown the correspondences to this fact. But this man as the Chief Security Officer ignored these warnings and promised security for the girls. He betrayed the girls by failing to heed warnings and by allowing the exam proceed without security. He was a serving Governor and couldn't be prosecuted. https://www.thecable.ng/shettima-set-chibok-girls-says-fani-kayode

Now, this same man rather than communicate with the higher ups about the kidnap decided to keep quiet. His reasoning? He believed the President would have been briefed. By whom? By security agencies OUTSIDE his state. Or perhaps he was waiting for the President to call him first. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/201163-i-not-call-jonathan-chibok-girls-abducted-boko-haram-borno-governor-shettima.html

Based on this lethargy from the CSO of the state, it would be rational to assume probable cause for the President to proceed cautiously. It is pertinent to point out that coincidentally, the Governor was from the opposition party.

The agreement signed with the US, UK and France was for them to provide additional intelligence services and platform and the Nigerian security services will handle the intrusion. But these countries, particularly the UK didn't want that. They cited Nigerian military human rights record and wouldn't even provide the required platform. According to a former British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr Andrew Pocock disclosed that both the British and United States governments knew where some of the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram members were but refused to help or share that information. http://dailypost.ng/2016/03/21/uk-us-governments-knew-location-of-chibok-girls-but-refused-to-rescue-them-ex-british-high-commissioner/

As much as this was an emotional issue, it was also one of national importance. It's hard trusting your partners if they won't keep their end of a treaty, won't provide platform and additional intelligence service and glaring refusal to rescue when they had the chance.

In summary, there's a video of 15 of the Chibok girls the Government has had since December 2015, which CNN has now shown to the parents.

With the girls identified by the parents and some of their fellow classmates, I hope nobody is still out there calling this a scam.

The major problem with Nigeria is the constitution, it doesn't not favour the average Nigerian at all and the political class of Nigeria are not willing to change it, so they don't lose their power over Nigerians.
The constitution is good enough for a START.
It was good enough in 2010 for the "Doctrine of Necessity" to be used after plenty of pressure from the Save Nigeria Group when Yar'Adua disappeared.
The American constitution has been AMENDED a couple of times also, including to allow women to vote generally, shortly after World War I.
It is up to us to PUSH and pressurise our public servants to do our bid, including making amendments to our constitution.

The canker worm Tinubu was the first governor to turn state house of assemblies to rubber stamps.

The Lagos state national assembly passed a pension bill for elected officials which included Tinubu.

Under the bill, Lagos is saddled with maintaining Tinubu for the rest of his life on the prevailing full salary a sitting governor is entitled to.

The pension bill for Tinubu also includes choice properties bought and paid for by the state in Abuja, Lagos and abroad.

Tinubu also has the choice of 5 executive cars to be replaced every 5yrs.

Recall also that Tinubu is on record to be the only elected governor in the history of modern democracy to have had 4 deputies in 8yrs!

The man is a rotten egg who spear headed corruption in Nigeria to new levels and the financial bankruptcy of acn states under his leprosy grip is evidence of his systematic kleptomaniac.

I remain grateful to Gbenga Daniel – Tinubu dismisses rift rumors

https://www.theelitesng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/image562.jpg

A national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has cleared the air on the alleged enmity between him and a former two-term Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Tinubu, who spoke through Mr. Wale Edun at the 25th anniversary celebration of Otunba Gbenga Daniels’ Kresta Laurel, said there is no truth in the stories that he has been fighting with Gbenga Daniel, adding that they are still good friends.

Edun said: “I am here representing Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and my presence is to show that there is no friction between Asiwaju and Otunba Gbenga Daniel”

Mr. Edun went on to explain that whenever Tinubu drives past the Kresta Laurel building in Maryland, Lagos, he remembers the enormous contributions Daniel made to the take off of his administration in 1999 and was immensely grateful.

He revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain was very gracious to donate the Kresta Laurel building to Tinubu’s campaign team at the time it was just being completed.

“The Daniels also made a section of their home available to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu whenever he worked too late and could not go home.
After the election, he also allowed us to use it for the Transition Committee where he was a member”

Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has rented a mansion in the elitist Maitama District of the Federal capital territory (FTC) Abuja, News Express can report this morning.

The storey building located at No. 8B, Rudolf Close, off Katsina Ala Crescent, in the highbrow Maitama District, was the abode of a former federal minister who died some time in May 2014.

An impeccable source said: “The property was rented to the Acting EFCC Chairman for N40,000,000 at N20,000,000 per annum.

“Furthermore, the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) curiously awarded a contract to Africa Energy, a company owned by Rtd Air Comm. Umar Muhammad, to furnish the residence at the cost N43,000,000, in a Government where the President is known to have frowned at and rebuked his ministers for requesting N20,000,000 each to secure accommodation and furnish them.

“It is shocking that the man spearheading the anti-corruption crusade of the government will be involved in such a venture. More surprising is the involvement of FCDA in renting a house for EFCC and under what arrangement.”

News Express made efforts to get the reaction of Magu and EFCC but the commission’s spokesmen Osita Nwajah and Wilson Uwujaren did not respond to text messages sent to them seeking their reaction to the story.

Rad1cal:
The Minister of Youths and Sports, Mr. Solomon Dalung, on Thursday said the Federal Government did not expect the Super Falcons to win the just-concluded CAF African Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

He said that was why the government was currently facing difficulties in paying the players’ entitlements.

Dalung spoke with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja amidst continued protests by members of the victorious Falcons over their unpaid allowances.

The players had seized the trophy they won at the competition and said they would hold on to the trophy until the authorities concerned offset the N238.05m accumulated bonuses which they are being owed.

They had threatened that if President Muhammadu Buhari refused to address their grievances at the Federal Executive Council’s meeting on Wednesday, they would embark on protest on the streets of Abuja.

But the minister said the situation could have been avoided if the Nigerian Football Federation had envisaged that the team would win and put in place the process of paying their entitlements.

He said, “Don’t forget that nobody even knew the team will emerge victorious.

“If we were confident they will emerge victorious, all the federation would have done is to plan for process of participation and entitlement.

“It is already established in sports tradition, when you win this is what you are entitled to.

“The situation is highly unfortunate and I don’t like it. These girls have given confidence to women who want to embrace sports, so this will go a long way in killing this laudable achievement. It is unfortunate but we will make sure the right thing is done.”

The minister said his position had always remained that the process of request for funds for sporting projects must come earlier to meet the objectives.

He said if the federation had requested for funds on time, the process of settling the players would have been easier.

The minister admitted that the matter was not handled properly, regretting that there are also issues of outstanding payment of coaches.

The bodies of at least 74 migrants have been washed ashore in western Libya, in the latest tragedy along the dangerous trafficking route to Europe. The Libyan Red Crescent posted photos of dozens of bodies in black and white bags lined up along the shore near the western city of Zawiya.
A spokesman for the aid organisation said there were still bodies floating out at sea as the agency had no way of retrieving them. He said the migrants were all adults, mostly from sub-Saharan African countries, and all but three were men.
The UN migration agency, the International Organisation of Migration (IOM), said the dinghy had set off on Saturday with 110 people on board. The agency said traffickers deliberately took the engines from the boat and then abandoned it to drift.

In the third episode of its Touching Lives Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which aired on television at the weekend, the telecom giant awarded a scholarship worth one million Naira to a promising teenage boy whose continued stay in school had become uncertain.
This good and kind gesture would have been unnecessary if Tinubu, Fashola and Ambode had ensured there is free and COMPULSORY education for all children resident in Lagos instead of stealing the taxes paid by and collected on behalf of the people while using their heads to play football.

HungerBAD:
At a time when knowledge acquisition in other climes is getting increasingly sophisticated, the same cannot be said to be the case in most parts of the country.

While the much-touted leaders of tomorrow in some states attend classes in ad-hoc environments including under trees, unsafe environment and sundry locations, Lagos State, many say should never be found in the company of such needy states.

But that is not the case. As a matter of fact, students in some schools in the state are taught while sitting on bare floors, while classrooms in some schools across the state are without roof, sundry fittings and devoid of requisite learning aides

Oshodi Nursery and Primary School, Oshodi, which has been in deplorable condition for a very long time is a classic example of this sad story.Located only a few kilometres away from Bolade Bus Stop, along Oshodi/Agege Motor Road, the school, which has up to four buildings within the premises, sees pupils scampering for safety anytime it rains, even as the learning process also has to be halted at such times.
This explains why parents and concerned residents of the area are urging the state government to come to their aid, by rehabilitating the school, and providing an enabling environment for the pupils to learn, in consonant with their rights to attend school in conducive environments.

The pathetic condition of the school first attracted the attention of The Guardian Newspaper, which carried a report to that effect in The Guardian on Sunday edition of February 7th, 2016. Ever since that publication, nothing has been done to improve the fortunes of the school.

Yes, he need to take action, but there's a reason he can't do that. Nigerian states does not run autonomous system of education with different JAMB, WAEC, and NECO, requirements. He needs the federal government to key into his idea for it to work.
Again, you are making baseless excuses for his dismal performance despite CLAIMING to have ideas six years after being in government.
States are in control of primary (through LGAs) and secondary education.
Imo state has three senators and 10 Representatives in Abuja. What has Okorocha done through them to raise a Bill for changing the curriculum as he CLAIMS to desire huh
Again, he is a jobless, lazy mofo skilled in TALKING only to excite his dumb followers, of which there appears to be many. sad undecided

The fact Okorocha has realized the problem is already a step in the right direction. Of course, you don't just wake up in the morning and change a 100 years system of education. It's going to take some time to make the change, because of the damage that has been done already.
Stop making excuses for these lazy mofos who have ensured our society makes no progress by simply TALKING to excite their dumb followers but taking no action in the direction of what they have said.
I don't think that you became educated by simply TALKING of the need and benefits of being educated, or did you huh
We cannot continue praising these thieves and making excuses for them while expecting that by some miracle progress will happen in our country.
Time to wake up and smell the akamu- it won't happen!

Totally with Okorocha on education and importance of our native languages. I' am glad someone at the top has realized the indoctinatory model of education handed over to us by Britain is a burden in itself. This system of education therefore must be discarded for us to move forward. Asians realized this many years ago and made those changes Okorocha is talking about. And the result is development.
Before you get totally carried away by his EMPTY words, should you not ask and wonder why he has not implemented what he is saying all these six years that he has been governor?
Why is it so easy to BAMBOOZLE us?

You're actually right. Though Judaism and Christianity are both different religions now, but the former is the foundation for the latter.

We know so little of our tradition and religion, but so much about the foreign religions of Christianity and Islam.

Yet those who know so much about our tradition and religion know so little about these foreign religions.

I'm wondering if there's someone who knows so much of both, maybe he could draw many parallels between the Yoruba and the Christian religions.

For instance, we Catholics believe in approaching saints who are already dead and we believe they are in heaven with God to pray and intercede for us.

In Yoruba religion, our ancestors who have died are asked to intercede for us with Eledumare, the Almighty, the Creator of all. Even these so-called gods also intercede on our behalf to Eledumare/Olu Orun, Lord of Heaven. Yet some of these "gods" were mortal beings once, like Sango, the god of fire, lightning and thunder. He was once an Alaafin of Oyo. So also were his wives, Osun and Oba, oloris or queens in the palace, now goddesses venerated in Yoruba religion.

So yes I agree with your premise. There's a lot of similarities between Yoruba religion and Christianity and probably Judaism.
I believe that there is a field of studies called comparative religions in some universities but mostly limited to the main INTERNATIONAL religions.
We need to be more interested in our own religious studies as part of our cultural heritage linked to tourism and EMPLOYMENT instead of going abroad to be under-employed.
This should not be driven by government alone but by private investors who can thoughtfully fashion out a holistic approach to all the elements for synergistic opportunities for making more wealth.

Fake mouth action governor.
Maybe if he took oath in the traditional method he would not have bought Christmas tree for N600 million while owing workers and pensioners their salaries and pensions.

Hmmmmm... Very nice. Thanks OP, this is deeply appreciated. I was able to draw some parallel in this story with some Christian truths too. God does not take back the power he has already given to beings.

He didn't take back the power he already blessed Ogun with just as he didn't take back the power he gave to Satan as a fallen angel.

I'll be following for more...

By the way, I've always wondered why Sango the Yoruba god of thunder and Thor the Norse god of thunder both carry a hammer?

This to me is most puzzling and it seems to lend credence to the existence of these demi-gods.

Yorubas call Sango's hammer "Ose Sango" pronounced as "oshe".

Please OP, where can i get a full and comprehensive detail on the Yoruba pantheon of gods.

I'm writing a book and I'd be grateful if you can point me in that direction. Thanks.
The Yoruba religion and its myths have many parallels with the Jewish myths and stories recorded in the Bible and Koran.
I remember vaguely some of the Ifa stories dramatised on Ifa Olokun Asoro d'ayo on NTA Ibadan back then with Araba Yemi Elebuibon. It is however more CONVENIENT to reference the Bible stories as one has been taught those ones repeatedly from childhood and the Bible is easily available for cross-checking when fake pastors try their scamming swaggers.
