It's difficult to believe that a world-class professional would take her life because she was raped. And in Nigeria where there're numerous friends & relatives, especially lovers with whom to discuss such trauma.

Abeg make Una talk wetin happen to the woman, & forget tales by moonlight.
How many of your friends, relatives and lovers have you comforted after their rape trauma?
How many?
You speak as if you do not know there is a big STIGMA on rape victims in our country.
Abeg swerve o jare.

You're a wise man. However, you can't blame me for being frustrated by some of my fellow human beings.

Talking about building institutions (avoiding arbitrary rule) and the opportunity to correct in the next cycle, do you notice how our Presidiot is doing his best to destroy that? When he is not imprisoning people without trial, he is butchering hundreds of innocent people or getting his blood relatives to conduct inconclusive elections. The Animal is scary.
That is why some of us who understand this must keep the pressure on without letting up.
We did it against Ebola Owu's third term ambition, didn't we?
We did it against the Turai Yar'Adua cabal when they were hiding Yar'Adua's dying status, didn't we?
Let us keep doing it and see our country get better for it.

pippimp:
It is not an APC problem. It is a Nigerian Problem. First we complained about Gowon, then OBJ, then Shagari, then Buhari, then IBB, then Abacha (Almost the worst). Then something or someone intervened and we were given a chance for a fresh start. Guess what? Nigerians did not take advantage of the opportunity. In fact, they dug in their heels, and went full frontal on corruption. OBj was given the chance to really change Nigeria but he made corruption a way of life in Nigeria. The corruptive mentality really started with him. It happened in the past but it became almost legal during his tenure and it was all downhill from then on. Now Nigeria's citizens could have stood up to say "no more", but they encouraged it by collecting salt and rice to cast their votes. The biggest fault lies with Nigeria's citizens. No government in the world is more powerful than it's people. History has taught us that. Unless someone can tell me that the concept does not apply to Nigeria.
Yet in our foolishness, we almost gave Ebola Owu a third term that could have made him into our own Mugabe. shocked

Obasanjo shared $74million Halliburton bribe, Okiro Panel says: • OBJ also pocketed another $5 million with PDP • Interim Panel report disappeared in Aso Rock
MAY 18, 2010

President Olusegun Obasanjo, who led Nigeria from 1999-2000, during which time he swore to fight corruption in the country, obtained considerable helpings of the infamous Haliburton bribe money, the Special Investigation Panel headed by Inspector-General of Police, Mike Okiro, has declared in an interim report.

A white celebrity from the ghetto is more likely to have a charity providing education and health among other things to lift others out of their poverty-stricken life and make him more rich as a person surrounded by other rich people.
Black people when shall we learn and be wise?

My Bro, this kinds of thread just irritate me. Actually, I'm beginning to have second thoughts about the usefulness of democracy. Despite all the resources available on the Internet, people just listen to some daft jingles, "sai Baba", "changi", " progressive" and proceed to vote their future away , then come crying after the fact.

I am currently following the US elections, it's the same thing, low information voters everywhere.
Democracy is still the best.
It is up to others to ensure they COUNTER the lies, propaganda and fake promises with facts and truthful statements.
If people vote wrongly they will have themselves to blame and correct at the next opportunity while building on the INDEPENDENCE of the complimentary checks & balances institutions.
This is not possible under a military dictatorship.
