tolue42: Lol bad investment..... Lack of foresight I must say...cash out is allow after few years, just exactly what Tinubu did in Lagos , Invested 4bn Lagos money , made 15Bn profit through Econet share. Thiefnuibu the rogue who did bad business with Lagos Sunborn yacht Firefire: The All Progressives Congress, Lagos State Chapter, has said the Lagos State Government has quit the Sunborn Yacht Hotel. The party said it was a bad business and the government had abandoned the deal.
The controversial yacht, valued at about N8bn, is an inshore boat hotel.
The state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party had recently accused the state government of corruption. It challenged the state Governor, Babatunde Fashola, to speak out on the whereabouts of the yacht and the two helicopters bought by his administration for security surveillance of the state.
The state Chairman, PDP, Mr. Tunji Shelle, while addressing party faithful during the General Assembly of the chapter, had said, “After floating miserably on the Marina water for so long, the controversial Sunburn Yacht, which cost the Lagos State Government, under (former Governor) Bola Tinubu, a whooping N8bn suddenly disappeared, only to be sighted at Thames in England.
“Now, the question is: who orchestrated this 419 and who were the beneficiaries of this waste of public fund. This is certainly a fraud and (Governor Babatunde) Fashola must tell us something he knows about this fraud, failure which he remains an accessory after the fact in the fraud.”
While reacting in an online interview with our correspondent on Saturday, the state Interim Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said the state government took a bad business decision on the yacht and had done away with it.
He said, “Every successful investor or businessman will tell you that business is not a bed of roses. He knows business is not all about gains all the time; you gain in some and lose in some. It is the same with governments all over the world. No government anywhere in the world will tell you that it has achieved 100 per cent success in every decision it has taken.
“The world will forgive you for taking decisions and making all the mistakes but the world will not forgive you if you do not take decisions at all for fear of failure. LASG has done away with the bad business called the Sunborn Yacht project. Case rested.”
Igbokwe described the PDP’s allegation that the helicopters had been deployed in the Niger Delta for private business purposes as idle talk. He said the party derived joy in telling, seeing, hearing and thinking lies.
“APC Lagos cannot continue to dissipate energy and precious gift of time, providing answers when there are no questions at all. Idle hands are devil’s workshop. PDP Lagos has been idle for close to 16 years and you can understand why the centre cannot hold for them.”
He, however, did not speak, specifically, on the state of the helicopters.
The PDP had also called on Fashola and the APC to protect their integrity by allowing the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, to step aside pending his trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged misappropriation of funds.
Igbokwe, however, said Lagos had been at the forefront in accusing the PDP-led Federal Government of brazen corruption, mismanagement and mediocrity. He said the state had rather showed the way for leadership in Nigeria.
He said, “It seems to me that they have been trying to hit back at Lagos and there is no other crooked and dishonest way to do that than to target the Speaker. I am worried that this is a calculated attempt to tarnish the image of Lagos State Government and these politics are well understood.”

22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice. 27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.
28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. |

All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, on Monday, urged the Federal Government to recruit at least 50 million youths into the Nigerian Army to boost Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, banditry and all forms of internal and external security threats confronting the nation.
Tinubu spoke at the 12th colloquium to celebrate his 69th birthday in Kano State.
He said, “We are under-policed and we are competing with armed robbers and bandits to recruit from the youths who are unemployed —33 per cent unemployed?”
“Recruit 50 million youths into the army,” he stated, adding that “what they will eat —cassava, corn, yam, will grow here.”
The APC chieftain, while reacting to recent statistics by the National Bureau of Statistics that over 23 million Nigerians are jobless, also urged the government to create jobs for youths in the agricultural value chains.
He said, “Don’t talk about illiteracy, anybody who can hold a gun, who can handle a gun, who can rooster and shoot is technically competent to repair a tractor in the farm.”

Countries that provide free educations do so on the back of high incomes from taxation and also have higher GDP's which come from being industrial.
Which both PDP, APC or Obi and many other Nigerian politicans do not promote. Most Nigerians seem to think that if we go back to regions or remove corruption,(which we should), each region would earn enough money to look after its needs. They won't. I agree with you hence the need for those of us who understand the pivotal role of education to work hard at making everyone around us to equally understand that and modify their expectations of our public office holders accordingly. Nigeria must industrialise and get beyond just selling raw materials. I concur fully. Privatisation that Atiku/PDP has a track record of doing is the way forward. |

“The smarter the journalists are; the better off society is. For to a degree, people read the press to inform themselves – and the better the teacher, the better the student body.” Warren Buffet As Nigerians increasingly express a desire to see the country develop from its years of underachievement, education must rank as one of the country’s priorities. Nigerians must embrace education in its general sense as a form of learning in which effective knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits of advanced societies or the society we crave is transferred from one generation to the next, through publications, mass media, storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, research etc Nigeria’s intellectuals must also educate themselves on the impact of integrity, standards, merit, and responsible values and how these impacts on formative effects on the way a society thinks, feels, or acts. In this article, I would review the highlights from the conclusion of Charles Soludo’s recent articles “I Stand By My Statements” Excerpt: “Let me also state for the avoidance of doubt that I stand by every statement I made in the two articles viz: (1) “Buhari Vs Jonathan: Beyond the Elections”; and (2) “Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Missing Trillions”. In particular, I insist that over N30 trillion has either been stolen or unaccounted for, or grossly mismanaged over the last few years. This figure does not include the estimated $40.9 billion (N8.6 trillion at parallel market exchange rate or nearly two years’ Federal Government budget) which the African Union’s (AU) recent report” I would proceed to review the points raised, relying entirely on irrefutable facts, verifiable sources, and records, starting with (2). “The African Union’s (AU) recent report” Charles Soludo refers to is the “Illicit Financial Flows (IFF) – Report of the High Level panel of illicit Financial Flows from Africa”, commissioned by the AU/ECA Conference of Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. There is nowhere in the 126-page report where a mention was made about $40.9 billion stolen, unaccounted for or missing from Nigeria. Here is a link to the full report ILLICIT FINANCIAL FLOWS The IFF Figures on Africa and Nigeria The IFF is a report from research on illicit financial flows as a development challenge for Africa. The report estimates that Africa loses more than $50 billion annually in IFFs. The report defines Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) as: Money that is illegally earned, transferred or utilized. These funds typically originate from three sources: commercial tax evasion, trade misinvoicing and abusive transfer pricing; criminal activities, including the drug trade, human trafficking, illegal arms dealing, and smuggling of contraband; and bribery and theft by corrupt government officials. The Cumulative IFF estimated for Nigeria between 1970-2008, the 38-year period, which was reviewed by the study, was US$217.7 Billion, a 30.5% share in Africa’s Total IFFs. The Report highlights two main cases for Nigeria; 1) “The case of a former governor of a state in Nigeria who used different shell companies, multiple bank accounts and the movement of money through several jurisdictions to launder ill-gotten wealth was a notorious example that came up in the course of the Panel’s work. This particular case spoke to issues of governance as well as the role of the banks in facilitating such suspicious transactions”. 2) “The Panel is particularly encouraged by the action taken by the US government under its Kleptocracy Initiative in early 2014 to freeze and return to Nigeria assets of not less than $458 million stolen by the late Nigerian dictator Sani Abacha, with another estimated $100 million also restrained We feel that such action underscores the imperative for political action by developed countries to fight” Instructively both cases highlight the involvement of the banking system and Central Banks in IFFs, by omission or commission. Curiously the IFFs mentioned in (1) occurred while Charles Soludo was the Governor of the Nigerian Central Bank. Effective actions taken by countries to stem some aspects of IFFs in both cases above have included financial reforms from the Central Banks (eg. Lamido Sanusi led Central Bank of Nigeria) and legislative actions (Patriot Act, USA. Eliminated Shell banks from the financial landscape). Where are the bogus figures coming from?
Clearly the figures being quoted and its attribution to the current Nigerian Finance Minister’s watch are false. Charles Soludo, relied on spurious publications by sections of Nigeria’s media notorious for publishing false information. The figures and slant of the report published in the media referred above were deviously fabricated and fed under false pretext to the public as sourced from a genuine report authored by the best of Africa’s men and women of integrity, values and professionalism. This trend portends a very sad dilemma for Nigeria, as the people read the press to inform themselves, the teachers, in this case, are the major source of regression. This sad perversion of information is quite regular with the Nigerian press. In subsequent articles; I would review allegations of missing trillions of Naira (Charles Soludo), missing billions of dollars (Lamido Sanusi), mostly from Oil and Gas revenues, the facts, figures and reality. I would also provide detailed insights on how the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry functions, the myths, the realities, the opportunities for graft, illicit operations, leakages, the complicity and role of the executive arm of government, agencies and employees, security, businessmen, politicians etc The purpose is to provide accurate information to engender an issue-based discussion from a foundation of knowledge based on the true situation and facts By Samuel Diminas |

Richardonald: Youths have already handed over power to APC in 2023, due to the OBEDIENT campaign, it is sad but that is the reality on ground, it took 4 major political parties, plus 5 governors that left PDP to join APC before they can seized power for the then ruling party PDP, now any alignment without PDP can't collect power from APC, APC control all the law enforcement agents, Inec, EEF and others, it is time for us to reason well Stop the fraud and scam packaging.
