Billygee2u: UNDERSTANDING THE FULANI JIHAD (PT1)
Yesterday, we were greeted with yet another tragic report that the Fulani terrorist herdsmen have killed over 200 people mostly women and children in 11 communities in Plateau state in another round of govt-sponsored ethnic cleansing throughout the non-Caliphate rest of Nigeria.
Beyond expressing outrage over this genocide, it is of utmost importance that we fully understand what we are up against.
But first, ask yourself....
HAVE THE SO CALLED FULANI HERDSMEN EVER ATTACKED ANY FULANI OR MUSLIM DOMINATED AREA EVEN ONCE ? Check out the areas they attack in Adamawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Taraba etc, these are all Christian/non-fulani dominated areas. Please, don't take my word for it. Do your findings.
What is happening in Plateau, Adamawa and other non-Caliphate part of Nigeria IS NOT killing by some ragtag Cattle rearing group known as Fulani herdsmen.
What is happening in Nigeria is A FULL BLOWN FULANI JIHAD fully initiated, implemented and sustained by the man masquerading as our President and all his Service Chiefs who are virtually all Fulani Muslims.
This genocide is simply about actualizing the dream of Danfodio. Simple and short!
President Buhari and his Security Chiefs are not here to protect Nigerians. They are here to kill, to rob and to destroy all the non-Caliphate rest of Nigerians IN FURTHERANCE OF THE DREAM OF DANFODIO.
We are not dealing with a President who is simply incapable of protecting Nigerians. We are dealing with a conscienceless JIHADIST who is here to execute a full blown Jihad against the Non-Caliphate rest of Nigerians.
The security agencies are deeply, deeply involved in this genocide. This is the main reason they were carefully chosen from a particular region and religion.
This Jihad is the real reason Buhari spent 12 solid years contesting for the Presidency.
For those of us still far removed from this genocide, rejoice not. They are coming for all of us including this writer.
When you are dealing with an international Jihadist army who happens to have taken full control of your govt and her security Agencies, the basic two steps towards your salvation are
(1) To truly understand the real nature of what you are dealing with.
(2) To do all you can to take away govt power from the Jihadists. This is the most important step because as long as the Jihadists are in control of your govt, they will kill and maim you and still use govt power to get Rogue Media Houses and soulless Journalists to twist the narrative to the outside world and frame the genocide as mere "FARMERS/HERDSMEN CLASHES. That way, the Jihad will be seen as a case of two fighting between farmers and herdsmen.
Whatever happens, these uncircumcised, modernity-loathing Barbarians occupying our seat of power and security positions MUST BE STOPPED before they send us all into extinction.
Buhari must not be allowed to secure a 2nd term. If he is returned in 2019, no part of this country will be spared. They will visit other currently untouched part of Yoruba land and for reason of self preservation and intestinal consideration, their politicians like Tinubu, Osinbajo etc will see no evil and say no evil as they did when Ile-Ife was invaded.
They will move from Benue and establish base in Igbo land and their politicians like Okorocha, Umahi, Ngige etc will blame IPOB for the killings and gift Buhari with another chieftaincy title.
Folks, we are all in this shit together. And our towns and villages are already surrounded. We can either map out ways of stopping these barbarians or we all die one by one.
let Everyone, villagers, communities get armed, and if the useless police or Army comes to disarm you people, people should face them , match them arm for arm. Is better you die defending your selve and love ones , than die like a captured lizard. U are obsolutely correct this is nothing but stealth jihad. |

Even though I'm a born again Christian, i think Oyedepo is mad and beginning to sound like a terrorist. I hope DSS invade his church and arrest him before he starts a religious war between Christians and Muslims. Which sane man of God will call for blood? An eye for an eye makes the world go blind. Instead of Christians to set up organizations to defend their interests like MURIC is doing for Muslims this man is calling for self defense. How are we sure the killers are fulani herdsmen in the first place when ISIS has found their way into Nigeria?
Arrest oyedepo now before war begins U must be a fellow jihadist masquerading here as a born again christain u can't fool any one here. Oyedepo is 1000% correct why should christains continue to allow themselves to be mercilessly massacred by this bloodthirsty monsters without any resistance when it has become very obvious that the federal government can no longer proctect their lives?. |

HigherEd: SELF DEFENCE IS ENTRENCHED IN THE CONSTITUTION-CHRISTIANS ARE NOT DUMMIES. -Bishop Oyedepo thunders!
*Says ‘If you are not angry with what God is angry with, you are a bastard’! *Roars, Nigeria is not a Fulani Republic...in Nigeria, cows are now more valuable than human lives.
Bishop Oyedepo has been speaking very passionately over the last few hours about the recent killings in several parts of Northern Nigeria. At last night’s evening service and this morning’s Hour of Prayer monitored by Church Gist at the Canaanland premises, he fired at the killers and their sponsors stating among other things that self defence is the right of every Nigerian.
We are on the verge of an outburst. This islamists are not relenting. And cursed be anyone from any quarters backing these wanton killings in Nigeria. Cursed be their roots and their generations. Not one herdsman has been accosted. Even when they were brutal enough to announce. They are poised for war but it will be in their own house. Everybody, whether in government or out of government, any demonic agent that’s after the destruction of this nation, the Lord God destroy them and their household.
Eleven villages were sacked in Plateau and by now since this their callous acts started, 52 villages are empty....when there is no war! Cursed be all forces behind this wanton killings!
If I be a man of God, let the fire of divine vengeance fall upon their head! Join in this warfare prayer, they won’t know where the war is coming from but they won’t wake up in the morning...,,and the Christians are their targets. In the name of Jesus, divine vengeance will target them and bring them down.
We are told from the News that ISIS have found their way to Nigeria. Whatever channel they came from, they will return from that same channel. The Angels of God will fight all the enemies of this nation. War shall not break out in Nigeria, it will break out in their own houses and take them off one by one. Curse these operators and their backers, curse them in the name of the Lord.
Nigeria is not a Fulani republic, let every devil be concerned. I will never become one. We didn’t sign a deal to live together as a Fulani Republic. Everybody that carries that thought and wants to implement it, the power of God will bring them down. Now in Nigeria, cows are more valuable than human lives. Authority claims they haven’t found anybody to claim responsibility when it was announced. By the blood of Jesus, every manipulator behind this killing, the Lord brings them down!
Do you pray for witches or against witches? Do you pray for armed robbers or against armed robbers? Know what to pray against. The present system must be prayed against...and God will bring them down. Is cattle business government business? If everybody whose shop is robbed goes about killing people, will it be taken? Don’t let anybody take you for a ride. Self Defence is entrenched in the constitution. Give it what it takes to show that you’re not a dummy. I am ordained a shepherd over a generation. I have a commitment to please God. Don’t let any devil take you for a ride. Somebody announced that ‘we killed them and we will still kill them’ and they have not picked them up. What?!!!! Can’t you tell who is behind it? Well, we are set. We are set. We will engage the full force of our spiritual authority.
The saints Must be preserved. The atrocities in Benue, vengeance will answer. The atrocities in Plateau, in Adamawa, Southern Kaduna, judgement will answer...but if you think you will proceed any further, except God has left Heaven, we are in it together.
Cursed be every agent of the devil out to destabilize our country. Cursed be every agent of the devil out to slaughter the saints. You went to Church and killed people and they have not found anyone? Some will not wake up tomorrow morning. Many of them will not wake up tomorrow morning’.
This morning, the Bishop of one of the largest churches in Nigeria continued his onslaught.
‘I saw children sliced. The United Nations Youth have just written to ask for immediate intervention in this genocide. You don’t know the meaning? Now wait a minute! All the security apparatus in Plateau, even the commissioner has just been removed and a Muslim put there. They are bent on genocide. They are bent on destruction of lives. Some fellows came and were cursing Elisha. He cursed them in the name of the Lord and two she bears came out of the wood and destroyed them. Lord destroy the destroyers. Trouble these troublers, let their hiding places be unveiled. Let your judgement catch up with them. Let your curse locate them. We occupy a strategic position in the kingdom in this nation. Let the Almighty God destroy the destroyers, destroy their household, destroy their generation. Let them be out of existence. Remove their remembrance from the earth. In the name of Jesus. Curse them in the spirit.
The GOC is Muslim. The new Commissioner of Police posted yesterday is Muslim. Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of administration is Muslim, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State C.I.D is Muslim. They are bent! These demonic devilish people are bent. Now in the name of Jesus, the curse of the Lord catches up with them. We are not strangers in Nigeria. You are strangers! You don’t dare a people like this! Father, honour the words of your prophet and let judgement catch up with them. Let their roots dry up. Let the blood of these innocent children, pregnant women, let the blood of these innocent believers, Christians in their homeland been slaughtered by these wicked men, let the blood of these individuals be avenged upon them.
Nigeria shall not become Syria. Any devil planning it, the God that I serve will hit at them. Now, God is angry with the wicked everyday.
Any pastor, any believer that is happy with the wicked is an ungodly man. Any man! I don’t care the office you hold. You are not angry with what God is angry with means you are a bastard! Jesus, every sellout in your body, let it be met with judgement.
Christians are complaining of being killed by Muslims and Muslim security officers are sent to referee it. What an insensitive devil! Christians are complaining about the assassination of Christians and then Muslims are now sent to go and oversee without a Christian input. Insensitive devils!
My spirit is angry, the calling on my life is angry. You shall not make away with it! You don’t need permission to hit back at a robber, Christians come awake! You are not dummies, come awake!
Government is not by a group of people, it is government for the people, by the people. Let there be no sympathizer with these wicked people in this church or else the curses we release will touch them.
If your baby is slaughtered, sliced, will you be hanging around like that?
These wicked men are trying to test the ground to see how many places they can get to. You dare any further, you will be resisted with the forces of vengeance.
Let all media people carry it. This is the voice of the Lord for the hour. The anger of the Lord is against the wicked and it shall land on their heads’ Bishop Oyedepo concluded.

goldcoinhub: Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has expressed his desire to stay on with the national team and lead them out to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The German tactician said this after the Super Eagles ouster from the ongoing 2018 Fifa World Cup after a 1-2 defeat to Argentina.
“It’s my desire to stay on with this fantastic team. They are a young team both in the defence and the attack. It’s a team with a good cocktail of passion, discipline and enthusiasm”, he said.
Rohr, 64, noted that staying to nurture the team would see them take the World by storm starting with the African Cup of Nations next year.
He joked that he would also like his captain, Mikel Obi, to stay on so that the bond they built would continue.
Mikel meanwhile, praised the team and said that in his whole years in the national team, he has not seen a team as good and disciplined like this, Vanguard reports.
“This could be my last World Cup but I think that this team remain a good team for the future,” he said.
The former Chelsea midfielder also heaped praise on the Nigeria Football Federation describing it as the best ever since he started playing for Nigeria.
“There was no distraction of bonuses and allowances. They organised quality friendly matches for us and ensured that we travelled with the best aircraft. The safety of players and comfort were their priority. I doff my hat for them.”

PrettyCrystal: Over 100 people in three local government areas of Plateau State were killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Sunday. According to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Associate (MACBAN), the genesis of the crisis has been rampant attacks and rustling of their cows by Berom youths in Barkin Ladi Local government area.
A journalist, Lawunna Timothy Yilwada, who interviewed victims of the attacks, narrated what happened. Read below;
We were interviewing injured victims of these attacks, and what they told us turned my stomach. Tears flowed from my heart, as I see kids with wounds bored with bullets, I saw a six-month old baby girl wounded by sparks of gunshots when her mum was running with her. I saw many unconscious children who will wake up as orphans, first time in my life I saw a wound bore by bullets.
Funny enough the boys we met there told us how they lived with these herdsmen, they lived peacefully until the attack, even on the day of the attack they played football and jolly together but Lo in the evening they become terrorists and bandits, because they don't just kill them, they also "steal" their properties.
In some communities it's quiet different, the herders who stay there don't attack but the show where and whom attack.
Also in some communities the Muslims there gave shelter to people who escaped and lied to the hired mercenaries in defense of the indegenes whom the hid in the mosque.
You see this issue is made up of many factors and understanding them will aid us to know what to do, what MYETTI ALLAH is saying is a big fat lie.
what the herders are doing is pure bandits activities and the Uthman Dan fodio course, history has and history will have it that they will fail.

Politics › Re: Stop These Killings Now Or Resign - Timi Frank Tells Buhari by ANOWEDGREAT: 2:46pm On Jun 26, 2018 |
stephanie11: @POLITICSNGR
APC chieftain, Timi Frank has written an Open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari advising him to stop the recent spate of killings in the country or resign.
The letter has been made available to PoliticsNGR. Read it below;
Mr. President, the ongoing killings across the nation continue to shock Nigerians. The fact that no tangible step is being taken by your administration to effectively stop the killings appalls the world. How do we wish away hundreds of Nigerian lives being gruesomely murdered in this country and the colossal destruction of property on a daily basis without no tangible counter strategy on the side of your government to stop the killings and bring the perpetrators to answer for their crimes against humanity? How do we continue to witness genocide and yet nothing appears to being done to safeguard the people?
The entire North Central has become a killing field with the lives of Nigerians being lackadaisically wasted without the security forces accepting the challenge to stop what now amounts to ethnic cleansing. Nigerians have continued to die in their hundreds despite yearly increases in defence and security budgets and other extra budgetary allocations, the recent being $1billion withdrawn from the excess crude account by this administration. Notwithstanding, the security agencies have failed to protect Nigerians while it does appear that the more huge money is expended on security, the more deaths we procure.
Mr. President, may I remind you that one major plank of your electioneering campaign was the promise to personally lead Nigerian troops to dislodge and destroy Boko Haram and restore full security to all parts of the country. Regrettably, Nigerians have not seen you do that in the last three years. However, the increasing ferocious mass murder being carried out by Fulani herdsmen has made the Boko Haram insurgency seems like a child's play. May I remind you that in Washington D.C you told President Donald Trump that the merciless killers were trained by Moumar Gadafi of Libya? In another breadth, your Minister of Defence, said the killings can only stop when the open grazing laws enacted in Benue and Taraba states are repealed. Tell me, is there any open grazing law in Plateau and Zamfara States? Besides, you have refused to declare the killer Fulani herdsmen as a terrorist organization because of your soft spot for them, which is contrary to the haste with which the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) - a group of agitators that never engaged in any bloodshed - was branded a terrorist organization and outlawed.
Mr. President, the time has come for you to stop the wanton killings spreading like the Ebola disease across the country or immediately resign your position alongside all the Service Chiefs. You need to urgently resign over failure to stop the ongoing pogrom and killing of innocent Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen. Am calling on you to resign because you have abysmally failed to discharge your primary function which is to use the instrumentality of government in your possession to defend the country and provide security and welfare for the people. This I strongly believe will pave way for a new leadership that would value and protect the priceless souls Nigerians. Any talk of you being reelected as President must stop now because there must first be a country to require a President.
Mr. President, permit me to use this opportunity to call on all patriotic Nigerians not to fold their arms and allow these senseless killings to escalate further. We cannot afford to wait and watch helplessly as innocent Nigerian lives are being wasted by these murderous terrorists, operating as herdsmen. The time to rise up to defend our country and our people, by speaking up, is now! The ongoing pogrom in Plateau, Taraba, Benue, Kogi, Zamfara, Adamawa, Kaduna and other states must stop! Nigerians must demand for a new leadership that can guarantee their safety and welfare. Clearly, the present administration has failed in its responsibilities to protect the people. This deadly criminal gang that is killing, maiming and cutting short the lives of our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and children must be stopped now, otherwise, Nigeria may soon stop to exist as a country.
It is equally sad and Nigerians are crying that our country is be being soaked with blood. One-third of the killings that have taken place under this administration did not happen under the last administration when all Nigerians rose up and hit the ground running, calling for President Goodluck Jonathan's exit. This is not the time to keep silent, otherwise posterity will judge all of us very harshly. Once again, I call on all Nigerians and Civil Society Organizations to be ready to hit the ground running in the mission to salvage Nigeria from this administration. It is high time the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers (NUPENG), Petroleum and Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and all well meaning Nigerians, wake up and defend the people because we don't have any other country we can call our own.

deji17: Fed Govt to build 94 ranches in 10 states Posted By: Yusuf Alli On: June 20, 2018
Ninety-four ranches are on the way in 10 states prone to herdsmen/farmers clashes.
The National Economic Council (NEC) chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has approved a 10-year National Livestock Plan which will cost about N179 billion. All 36 state governors are members of the NEC.
About N70 billion of the budget will disbursed between now and the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s first four-year tenure next year.
The project is expected to take off in Benue and Nasarawa states any time from now.
These disclosures were made by NEC representatives, including Governor Samuel Ortom, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Audu Ogbe, and the Coordinator of the plan, Dr. Andrew Kwasari, at a session with editors in Abuja.
The session was facilitated by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) – a non-government organisation.
Ogbe, who said “open grazing is no longer viable”, said cattle rearers would be the greatest beneficiaries in the next few years.
He also said the Federal Government has no intention of seizing anybody’s land by force.
A technical presentation of the NEC-approved plan, including the enumeration of the six key pillars on which the plan is built, was made by Kwasari.
He said: “In addition to loss of human lives, it is estimated that Nigeria loses about $14 billion (N5.04 trillion) annually to herdsmen-farmers’ conflicts.
“Domestic annual milk production in Nigeria is only 400 million litres, resulting in supply
gap of about 700 million litres.
“To fill these growing gaps, Nigeria spends a large amount of its scarce foreign exchange resource to import livestock products, with average of $480.6 million (N173.3 billion) worth of milk imports alone per year.
“The National Livestock Implementation Plan is a mediation plan stemming from meetings and recommendations of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) and the National Economic Council (NEC) in 2017 as regards state interventions following the incessant pastoralist-farmer conflicts.
“We are going to have 94 ranches in 10 states. We have received 21 gazetted grazing reserves from seven states. Plan focuses on pilot intervention in the frontline states Adamawa, Benue, Edo, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba, and Zamfara.
“A Ranch Design Plan has also been proposed in models of various sizes clustered in 94 locations in the 10 pilot states. We will have clusters of 30, 60, 150, and 300 cow ranch models in a location within the donated and gazetted grazing reserves.
“The total spending for the 10-year period is slightly in excess of N179 billion. Funding for the first three years of the pilot phase is about N70 billion.
“The ranch is also designed as an integrated business which makes provision for (a) the development of commercial crop production to support livestock through the supply of quality fodder and other feed materials, (b) the formation of producers into clusters to create viable ranch herd sizes, and (c) creation of cooperatives to facilitate improved access to inputs, infrastructure, finance, markets, and support services.”
The minister said there was no going back on the creation of ranches, dismissing the insinuation that the government planned to seize land from owners or communities.
He said the conflicts between herdsmen and farmers were not about anti-open grazing laws.
His words: “So the conflict didn’t begin because the laws were passed. No, the conflict has been brewing but the laws were enacted in desperation by a state. Farmers went to the governor and complained, ‘they are killing us’, so the governor says, ‘let me pass a law’. If we did what we are doing now 20 years ago, we will not be where we are now.
“The truth is that open grazing is no longer viable. We may not end it in one day, but it has to end and government has to help. This conflict is not peculiar to Nigeria alone; it’s happening in Argentina; it happened in the U.S . in the 19th century, in Pakistan and others. So, this is what we should have started doing 20 years ago. We didn’t and that’s why we are where we are.
“Lastly, the government has no intention of seizing anybody’s land. So, the idea that somebody is going to forcefully take the land is not true. In Fashola’s farm , there are Fulani residents there who speak Yoruba fluently.
“One of them said, ‘we have found peace here’. They produce fresh milk for Friesland Capina. If you see the turnover of Friesland Capina during their annual turnover, you will be amazed. These are the issues.
“The ECOWAS Treaty says free movement of human, animals and goods. We had a meeting with the ECOWAS ministers here. We are going to have another. We will tell them, ‘you must do what Nigerians want’. Roaming around is no longer an answer. We may have to shut our borders. How large is the Nigerian border space? 4037 square kilometres is the landmass from Sokoto to Badagry and from Borno to Calabar. Added up it’s plus 830 kilometres of coastline. Half of our borders are open . Should we build a wall? People wander in and out. So it is a very complex thing.
“When we implement this thing, how do we prevent cows from West Africa marching in when they like with no respect for our tradition and cultures? These are the problems we face.
In these ranches, we can then say nomadic education can work, the Fulani are in clusters. By 5am, they milk their cows and sell to the milk processing plants which will be installed there. They begin to realise that it pays to stay.
“There is an experiment we did in Kano. The firm tried to settle a number of herdsmen in a location and they gave scholarship to their children. If your male child is in school, they buy your milk for N120 per litre but if your girl child is in school, they buy it for N140 per litre and believe me, every morning Fulani send their children to school while they milk their cows. They have to be in one place. So a lot of incentives will come and we will use the cow dungs to generate electricity.”
Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom said over 180,000 internally displaced persons were in eight camps in the state.
He said: “We have over 180,000 IDPs in eight camps and over 5,000 people living with relatives. We have had massive support from all over the world and this is attributed to the media, and I commend this.
“ I believe that after this interaction, there will be more to do. The Presidency is not sleeping. They have devised various ways in giving us additional information to help us shape our opinions and also express our opinions on how best this challenge can be surmounted.
“A committee had earlier been set up, headed by my colleague from Ebonyi and, unfortunately, he is not here. He and members of his committee visited Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, Adamawa, and Zamfara states. Of course, they came back with a report, which was considered and far-reaching decisions were taken as to how they will summon this challenge.
“I’d like to appreciate the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for his able leadership and for helping us to come this far. People say from where I come that ignorance is darker than the night and so when you’re informed, you’re in a better position to represent issues properly.
“For me, as the governor of Benue State and someone who has been affected by recent challenges of farmers and herdsmen, I must commend the media in Nigeria. You have done very well, and maybe for other states that have been affected as well, you have represented the issues well.”
General Manager of Capital FM Mercy Njoku, said the engagement was designed to enable the media to understand the herdsmen-farmers conflicts.
She said: “It is important for the press to have a clear understanding of what is happening.
“I know every media person wants peace, stability and development.
We want a country where there will be peace, security and economic boom.”

Politics › Re: Keep Your Awards, Apologize To Yoruba Nation, Youth Group Tells Buhari by ANOWEDGREAT: 10:36pm On Jun 08, 2018 |
ajoskele: Oodua Youth Coalition (OYC) has lampooned President Muhammadu Buhari for his plan to bestow posthumous honours on Chief MKO Abiola and Gani Fawehinmi, 25 years after the annulment of an election widely believed to be the freest and fairest in the country’s history.
The group expressed disappointment that the posthumous titles (GCFR and GCON) conferred on the two nationalists came when all they fought for were been ignored and disregarded by the government.
In a statement obtained by SaharaReporters in Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday, the group described Buhari’s posthumous honours as insulting, unacceptable and a flagrant abuse of power and legality.
“It is shocking to point out that these posthumous titles, the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic(GCFR) and Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger(GCON), granted Chief MKO Abiola and Chief Gani Fawehinmi respectively, came when all what these two outstanding Yoruba sons fought for and against are being brazenly ignored, overlooked or deliberately disregarded,” read the statement, signed by OYC National President, Tayo Akintade Oluyi, and Oluwagbenga Ajongbolo, the National Publicity Secretary.
“As students of history, we at the Oodua Youth Coalition recall that in the early days of the late internationally known military dictator, General Sani Abacha, our own war viceroy, Moshood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola, was arrested and charged for treason and the plot to forcefully take over government. About the same time, then General Muhammadu Buhari was appointed to head the newly created Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
“For the next four years or thereabouts, General Muhammadu Buhari was everywhere in Nigeria bringing in funds and remitting 25% of the annual revenue of PTF to the military government while our MKO Abiola was languishing in jail until his suspicious death on July 7th, 1998. The lanky, gap-toothed soldier couldn't prevail on his boss to release our Aare Ona Kakanfo.
“On 22nd of May 2018, just a week before the ‘former’ Democracy Day, President Buhari had lambasted us for insulting his former boss, Sani Abacha. He also lampooned us for having differing opinions of his dead master. He didn't care what we said about the dreaded general. He was angry we were calling for the head of the man who jailed, killed and/or attempted to kill our Yoruba leaders. Olusegun Obasanjo. Oladipo Diya. Abraham Adesanya. Bola Ige. Olusegun Osoba. ‘Bola Tinubu.
“Even the darling and daring wife of MKO, Kudirat Abiola, was gunned down on the streets of Lagos in 1996. Muhammadu Buhari was in that government! Yet, on the May 29th, 2018, which the President celebrated with drums rolled out and a public holiday declared, our heroes of democracy were never mentioned.
“The iconic June 12 was conspicuously missing. We didn't hear anything about MKO Abiola. The struggles and hustles that followed were forgotten. The hunting and hounding of freedom fighters weren't interesting stories. NADECO was omitted. The arrests and imprisonments of dissenting voices no longer mattered. And seven days later, all these were resurrected and suddenly President Muhammadu Buhari remembered the late legal icon and human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.”
The group affirmed that it would not commend the Federal Government for honouring the two legends until the true tenets of democracy are practised in the country by elected leaders.
It also maintained that the Yoruba youth would only accept the honours if Chief MKO is declared authentic winner of the June 12, 1993 election and the eight-point complaint of Gani Fawehinmi is fully addressed.
“On the 15th of December, 2008, the legal luminary had written a long letter in response to the national honour bestowed on him,” it said.
“Then President Umaru Musa Yar’adua had listed his name as one of the fortunate Nigerians to have been awarded an OFR (Order of the Federal Republic) in recognition of his relentless and tireless efforts at reshaping Nigeria. He rejected it and highlighted eight ( wants before he could change his position:
1. The abolition of poverty from the face of our country.
2. The unqualified need to preserve, defend and protect the fundamental human rights.
3. The governance of our country through democratic processes.
4. The subjection of everybody and everything to and under the Rule of Law.
5. The right of the people to free and qualitative education at all levels.
6. The right of the people to free and qualitative health services and facilities.
7. The strengthening of our economy through sound development of infrastructures including power generation (electricity), good roads, good and modern rail system across the length and breadth of Nigeria, good water way transportation system.
8. The overall duties of all Nigerians and governments (local, states and federal) to make Nigeria a corruption free country by fighting corruption with all our might and mind.
“Late Gani Fawehinmi would be turning in his grave now looking at the posthumous insult his former friend is dishing out to him.
"He would be disturbed by how a man, whom he once praised and hailed and who has failed in all ramifications, would continue to subject his hard-earned reputation to public ridicule.
“If he were alive today, he would have distanced himself from President Buhari, who has consistently and continuously worked against humanity and the eight points he stated in his rejection letter almost 10 years ago".”

Politics › Re: MKO Abiola: "Nice Move But We’ll Still Vote You Out In 2019" - Some Reactions by ANOWEDGREAT: 6:54pm On Jun 07, 2018 |
ogododo: This evening, President Muhammadu Buhari announced the cancellation of May 29 as the country’s annual Democracy Day, replacing it with June 12.
His argument is that June 12 1993 — the date of the election popularly adjudged to be the freest and fairest in Nigeria’s history — “was far more symbolic of democracy in the Nigerian context than May 29 or even October 1”.
Similarly, he announced that MKO Abiola, winner of the annulled election, will be posthumously awarded the highest honour in the land, GCFR, as part of the next Democracy Day celebration next Tuesday, while his running mate, Ambassador Baba Gana Kingibe, is also to be invested with a GCON.
The President also said that “the tireless fighter for human rights and the actualization of the June 12th elections and indeed for democracy in general”, the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi SAN, is to be awarded posthumously a GCON.
As typical of Nigerians, the social media is agog with reactions ranging from witty to punchy, including a few suggesting that although the move was motivated by the 2019 election, Buhari would be voted out nonetheless.

Politics › Re: Buhari's Bill On Water Resources Splits Northern And Southern Senators by ANOWEDGREAT: 12:06pm On May 25, 2018 |
jbbalarabe: Buhari’s bill on water resources splits northern, southern senators TAIWO OJOYE 25 MAY 2018 Ade Adesomoju, Leke Baiyewu and Olaleye Aluko An executive bill sent to the Senate seeking to concentrate the control of water resources in the hands of the Federal Government has divided senators across regional lines. While northern senators support the bill and its objectives, their southern counterparts are opposed to it. Those opposed to it pointed out that the bill, if passed into law, would further centralise power and the nation’s resources. This, they pointed out, would counter the current move towards devolution of powers, which is currently skewed in favour of the Federal Government. President Muhammadu Buhari had sent the bill to the legislature in 2017, while the Majority Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, presented the bill as it is customary for executive bills. It is ‘A Bill for An Act to Establish a Regulatory Framework for the Water Resources Sector in Nigeria, Provide for the Equitable and Sustainable Redevelopment, Management, Use and Conservation of Nigeria’s Surface Water and Groundwater Resources and for Related Matter.’ The summary of the bill reads, “This Act repeals the Water Resources Act, Cap W2 LFN 2004; River Basin Development Act Cap R9 LFN 2004; Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (Establishment) Act, Cap N110A, LFN, 2004; NationaI Water Resources lnstitute Act Cap N83 LFN 2004; and establishes the National Council on Water Resources, Nigeria Water Resources Regulatory Commission, River Basin Development Authorities, Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, and the National Water Resources Institute.”
The proposed bodies, if established, will “provide for the regulation, equitable and sustainable development, management, use and conservation of Nigeria’s surface water and groundwater resources.” The division occurred at the plenary on Thursday when the lawmakers considered the report on the bill by the Senate Committee on Water Resources. The southern senators particularly criticised the move to create new Federal Government’s bodies to take over the responsibilities of the states over the water resources within their territories. The controversial parts of the bill are contained in Clauses 1 to 5. The clauses read, “All surface water and groundwater wherever it occurs is a resource common to all people, the use of which is subject to statutory control. “There shall be no private ownership of water but the right to use water in accordance with the provisions of this Act. “The right to the use, management and control of all surface water and groundwater affecting more than one state pursuant to Item 64 of the Exclusive Legislative list in Part l of the Second Schedule to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, and as set out in the First Schedule to this Act, together with the beds and banks, is vested in the Government of the Federation to be exercised in accordance with the provisions of this Act. “As the public trustee of the nation’s water resources, the Federal Government, acting through the minister and the institutions created in this Act or pursuant to this Act, shall ensure that the water resources of the nation are protected, used, developed, conserved, managed and controlled in a sustainable and equitable manner, for the benefit of all persons and in accordance with its constitutional mandate. “States may make provisions for the management, use and control of water sources occurring solely within the boundaries of the state but shall be guided by the policy and principles of the Federal Government in relation to Integrated Water Resources Management, and this Act.” The passage of the bill however suffered a setback when the Senate dissolved into the committee of the whole to consider the 152 clauses of the proposed law. In a veiled persuasion of the lawmakers, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki said, “This bill has 152 clauses. This bill is the Leader’s first bill. This bill is the President’s bill, so we are going to have a very swift movement in passing this bill.” Unlike the normal process of taking the clauses one after the other, the Senate President put Clauses 1 to 50 to a voice vote at once. Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (APC, Kebbi-North) however raised an issue with one of the clauses, asking the Senate to properly define ‘bank’ especially where it starts from and the distance it should be from a water body to the shore. While he stated that he was not opposed to the bill, he noted that the clarification was needed for rivers that cross two or more states. He likened it to a federal road which makes the government to acquire 50 metres from the centre of the road to both sides. “Otherwise, a lot of conflicts are going to arise. River banks are much more contentious than roads because of agricultural and other activities,” Abdullahi stated. Senator Barnabas Gemade (APC, Benue North-West), however, dismissed Abdullahi’s fears, saying that while the nature of the road was fixed, a river could increase or decrease in size. Akpabio, Bayelsa, Ashafa, Adeola oppose bill Opposing the bill, the Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio (PDP, Akwa Ibom North-West), who raised issues against Clause 3, warned against making a law that would lead to the Federal Government taking over the landed areas of riverine communities, especially communities where the water bodies dry off. “When they dry off, they become residential. So, it will cause a lot of confusion. We really need to be careful,” he noted. Akpabio made reference to Lake Chad which used to have over 25,000 kilometres of water but had dried up to about 5,000 kilometres. He said it meant that the community now had 20,000 kilometres for farming and other activities, stressing that it would have been out of the reach of the people if the government had possessed the bank. He said, “The kind of river we are talking about should be clearly defined. If we want to say that all waters in Nigeria must be legislated upon by the Federal Government, then we will cause a lot of confusion because there are a lot of communities that depend on small rivers to survive. “If the banks now belong to the Federal Government, we are doing what we are not supposed to do; we are centralising power at the centre, we are not devolving powers. We are bringing Nigeria back to a unitary state. We are now making sure that even communities are now dispossessed of their land. Some of those places are natural elongation of the land.” Senator Emmanuel Paulker (PDP, Bayelsa-Central) backed Akpabio, noting that there was a need to define what a bank is. He also pointed out that the Federal Government was about to take over resources in the states at a time when Nigerians were calling for devolution of powers. He said, “Most of these rivers dry off, they are seasonal rivers. If we say banks are owned by the Federal Government, definitely it will create a lot of problems. We should look at it closely before we pass it. Most of the waters are drying off, so how do we define the banks?” The Majority Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe-North), however, countered Akpabio, stating that the lawmaker was arguing in error. Lawan noted that the clause was in reference to waters like River Benue and River Niger which flow through several states. He urged the Senate to ignore the issues raised by those opposed to the bill. According to him, the Federal Government is not interested in water within a state. Akpabio, however, insisted on his earlier position, saying, “I am saying that the essence of making a law is for the law to stand the test of time and not bring more confusion.” He cited the example of a small river in Akwa Ibom, a part of which is in Abia State. He noted that such rivers would be affected despite being small. He also cited the example of the Cross River which has its source in the Cameroon Mountain and passes through Cross River State to Akwa Ibom and into Abia states. Akpabio therefore asked that the rivers to be taken over by the Federal Government should be listed in the bill. He said, “This is going to lead to a lot of legal confusion and rumblings, and we are further depriving our citizens of the right to make use of the resources within their communities. If we can deny our people a small water in their area because the water touches the next village which is in another state, automatically we are over-legislating.” Other lawmakers from the South, like Senators Gbenga Ashafa (APC, Lagos-East), Solomon Adeola (APC, Lagos-West), also spoke against the bill. Adeola particularly cited the example of Lagos State which is currently in a legal battle with the Nigeria Inland Waterway Authority over the control of water resources. The case is already at the Court of Appeal. It’s a bill we’ve been waiting for-Aliero, Gemade, Garba But Senators Ibrahim Gobir (APC, Sokoto-East), and Binta Masi Garba (APC, Adamawa-North) spoke for the bill. Before the Senate dissolved into the committee of the whole, the lawmakers had differed on the clause proposing two per cent withdrawal from the Ecological Fund for water resources management. Senator Adamu Aliero (APC, Kebbi-Central) described it as “a straightforward bill,” saying, “It is a bill we have been waiting for, for quite a long time.” Noting that he is a member of the committee which worked “seriously and diligently” on the bill, Aliero said the World Bank was waiting for the passage of the bill “so that they can bring in money to improve irrigation facilities in Nigeria.” He added that over $1.5bn had already been earmarked to be utilised by the global bank in the country’s agricultural sector, stressing that it would encourage private sector’s contribution into the sector. Also commenting, the Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP, Taraba-South), expressed his support for Aliero’s comments. Although Paulker said the bill should be passed, he asked that some part be expunged from it and treated separately. While Senator Francis Alimikhena (APC, Edo-North) said he agreed with Paulker’s position, he stated that it was the law establishing the Ecological Fund that should be amended to allow the release of two per cent to water resources. Saraki (APC, Kwara-Central), asked that the bill be passed while the Ecological Fund be amended later. He said, “If we all agree that this (bill) is important and this is a priority, nothing stops us from passing this today and bring the Ecological Fund bill and pass it too. Doing it the other way (Ecological Fund law amendment) might be correct but I don’t think it shows the importance and the seriousness that this deserves.” Lawan backed Saraki, saying nothing should stop the lawmakers from passing the bill. To douse the rising tension, Saraki cut the debate short, ruling that the bill be stepped down and be reviewed. The Senate President referred the bill to the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of the Committee on Water Resources and Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Director of Legal Services and Gemade “for further legislative action.” They are to report back on Wednesday. Water bill negates restructuring –Ijaw youths Meanwhile, the Ijaw Youth Council has kicked against the bill, noting that it was against the clamours of Nigerians for restructuring and state control of resources. The IYC President, Pereotubo Oweilaemi, said, “That is unacceptable to us. Sending such a bill to the Senate is a tactical plot to control resources in the Niger Delta region. Nigeria is at a time when there are agitations for restructuring and resource control, but the President is seeking a bill that will enforce more federal control over the state resources. “It is wrong and it doesn’t go well with us as a people. It is a plot to further embarrass the people of the Niger Delta.” It’s a mockery of federalism, restructuring agitation – Falana Also, a human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), said the executive bill was a mockery of the principle of federalism and the agitation for restructuring which seeks the devolution of powers at the centre to the federating units. He reiterated that the National Assembly could not legislate on “just any water” but only water that passed through more than one state. Falana recalled that there was a judgment in which the Court of Appeal made the pronouncement when the court nullified the licences given by the Federal Government for dredging of some Lagos waters. He said, “It is a mockery of the principle of federalism. It also makes a mockery of the widely accepted agitation for the devolution of powers from the centre to the federating units. “The Court of Appeal has ruled that the National Assembly cannot legislate on just any water but only waters that pass through more than one state.” These parasitic northerners have no agenda for any restructuring those clamouring it are in for a long ride. |
