Mekurexx: Guys Happy New month! ... Interesting exchange of conversations and ideas here!.It has been really helpful. I think the previous conversations between those 2 guys was interesting. Since I joined this thread, I have received realist information and also Alarmist informations. The guy that earlier pointed out to me that I should drop my UK admission and go to Canada made an alarmist comment. Most people that cant get into Canada for Masters do so through PGD(Post graduate diploma). And most do so because they are on second class lower divison. Even the 2:1 and First class folks dont get in easily, but some do!. I think people having drumming Canada as a land of goodies(no doubt), but in reality, it is tough. I have two friends that are in Canada presently, one finished with a 2:2 from a private uni, the other I think 3rd class from a private uni too. Their PGD program ends this month, one of them applied to 5 schools for masters for pharmacology, 4 rejected him, his hopes are hanging on one,if it doesn't work out, he has to come back to Naija as visa will expire, the other one also applied but got rejected, still hoping on one or two. For the UK, my only problem is the exchange rate, all this immigration and job palava is everywhere. The only thing im worried now is the ranking for the schools. The babe that complained about Robert Gordon dropping some places, I looked at the school ranking, I looked at the school I got admission into, I started having low self esteem. Tbh. I still strongly recommend going to the UK to do masters is better than going to Canada and passing through to do PGD, you spend all that money and time and struggle to get a job, and then cant even get in for Masters. I called that wasted investment. My folks doing PGD told me that most international students (indians) in Canada looking to get a good job and stay back all have masters + job experience (from UK or abroad), its only the Nigerian students that have only First degree. That makes them(indians) more competitive and better placed to be picked for good jobs, not carrying a 2:2 or 3rd class Bsc and then you get an Ontario graduate Certificate/diploma and think you can pull off a good job? I dont think so. and In summary, I have a few questions to ask and points to make: 1) What is the point of going to Canada (for people without first class), if after doing PGD you cant get in for Masters?, or are you going there for the ''benefits''? Since in UK you can work part time (20hrs a week) and then all fees are paid, one should strive to get a distinction and leave the future to God. I have stopped worrying since I got warm advice and real talk from a member here, it truly inspired. Its okay to give out reality checks, at the same time too, everyone has different destinies, all we should try to do is encourage one another and I pray God directs us to achieve our various dreams and goals!. have a blessed week Nice one sir. I'm here aiming for a distinction and applying hugely for jobs already. Used my school's career service to help. After this Master's GOD can still make it happen for us here in this UK. |

ManUtdholic: Waste Who will make this recommendation D law makers? where a region is more rep than that of the order Or the president The best is that each region should be aptly represent to barricade we were cheated and rancour that may ensued There is no waste in d confab NASS is needed cuz they will be d 1 to make it a law Probably you don't understand my first post and why I call it a waste. Lemme break it down. 1. The NASS are supposed to deliberate on issues and make laws. They get paid billions to do this. 2. The NASS have not solved Nigeria's issues. Current laws are not good. (Meaning NASS is somewhat incompetent) 3. Bring in CONFAB to do NASS work of deliberating on issues. Pay CONFAB billions too, while still paying NASS billions. 4. CONFAB finished work. OK great. 5. CONFAB still has to submit their work to the same NASS to redeliberate upon again before the laws are made. 6. Number 5 above brings us back to Number 1, or should I say Square 1. So how exactly was the CONFAB billions meaningful. The CONFAB would have only made sense if the recommendations were passed through a referendum and not the NASS. |
Politics › Re: Opinion: Should Buhari Implement The Confab Report/recommendations? by Anyi3(m): 4:17pm On May 01, 2015 |
Buhari can only put pressure on some stuff but I think it's still down to the house to deliberate on these issues. After all they are the "lawmakers".
That said, the confab was just a useless way to spend money since all recommendations still go to the house for further deliberation. It was just multiplication of roles. |

prettyrosiemua: Its all the same thing. Whether by families, the community or even the government. A lady shouldn't be discriminated against because of her choice in marriage. Victimised by family is a very bad thing. We're humans we tend to do this though. Not saying it's good but a lesser evil practised all over the world. Next case, Victimised to the point government officials start treating you like a non citizen and denying you benefits is not just bad, it's devilish. |

prettyrosiemua: South Africans are sick. Imagine discriminating against your own citizen only because she's married to a foreigner. The funny thing is this also happens in Nigeria. Ladies who marry men outside their tribe are also victimized. Victimized by family is understandable, not by government officials |
