One killed as gunmen attack Anambra police station

Anambra State Police Command, in the early hours of Thursday, foiled an attack by gunmen at Nteje Divisional headquarters, in the Oyi Local Government Area of the State.

This was following a distress call as the station came under attack by a deadly gang.

The operation against the attack was led by Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, at about 3am.

One of the gunmen was neutralised while the other gang members fled the scene.

Items recovered by the operatives included one type O6 rifle, one magazine and 53 live ammunition of 5.56mm and charms.

A statement by the Command said, “The Police Operatives decisively dealt with the assailants.

“During the gun duel, one of the gunmen was neutralised and due to the superior fire of the Police operatives, the other assailants fled the scene. The station was secured and all police operatives and arms are intact.

"The CP, while reiterating that the Command will not relent in delivering on its mandate on the protection of life and properties, commended the officers and men of the Command for their perseverance and painstaking efforts to weed out all criminal elements in the State.”

I never wanted to bring this here but I have to, I am a type of person who likes to keep my relationship away from social media but this is for clarification purposes.

This was my secondary school classmate who I thought I knew to an extent. On December 28, 2020 he did the 1st and 2nd stage in my family marriage list which bride price happened to be on the 2nd stage which he paid. After he paid my bride price he started maltreating me.

2021 was hell for me that at some point I left home, after everything we settled around November 2021 which he promised he will never beat me again. But still nothing CHANGED.

This is my reason why I am CALLING OFF the Traditional Marriage (Igba Ngwu) and White Wedding ceremony between me and DAVID OKIKE OFF. (Beating me was not part of the agreement in our Marriage)

This Saturday should have been my traditional and white wedding ceremony day.... I supposed to be happy but I am not.

For couple of months now I have been going through a lot.

I have been in a TOXIC RELATIONSHIP for OVER a YEAR now.. I am aware that this may be a shock to many people, especially people from my Home Town. My supposed husband HIT and ABUSE me in any slightest provocation, just small misunderstanding without minding what condition I am into.

My supposed husband is full of RAGE, BEATING me with his Belt, Stick, Broom is his DAILY ROUTINE, Many a times he had lifted his hammer � on me and this Monday last week just because of little misunderstanding he beat me mercilessly and on the process of it he rushed into his mother's kitchen for a cutlass, when I noticed he's going for a weapon I locked the door behind him which he forcefully opened, both his mother and Sisters and some neighbors were begging him not to cut me with the cutlass ... With all these things and more I am fed up.

I AM CALLING OFF THE WEDDING AND TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE (IGBA NGWU) BETWEEN ME AND DAVID OKIKE that supposed to hold on this Saturday 16th, April 2022.

A young Liberian man identified as Preston Dolo allegedly killed his girlfriend identified as Grace Menlor before Killing himself.

Salemgists gathered that the ugly incident happened in the Glenilu community, Ganta City, Nimba County, northeastern Liberia.

An eyewitness account revealed that after Killing the young lady, Dolor killed himself by stabbing himself multiple times.

The eyewitness further stated that the incident happened in the Early hours of Monday morning, April 11.

Although as at the time of this report, the reason for his alleged action is yet to be known but sources close to the deceased said the late Grace and her boyfriend Preston have been in a relationship for a little over a year now.

Preston has been accusing the late Grace of extra affairs something that lead to him stabbing her multiple times on her neck, under her breast, and in her stomach.

A resident of the area said on Grace’s graduation day, she attended a club where she danced and slept with a man.

He further revealed that Preston left and went to seek a job in Arcelor Mittal, but came on the eve of the incident and broke the victim’s door, and slept there when she has gone out.

He said:

“The man came overnight and burst his girl’s door, but the girl was not there, she slept out when she came in the morning, nobody was there so he jump on her in a fight and started stabbing her with a kitchen knife multiple times. After he noticed that the girl was dead, he stabbed himself in his stomach, but did not die there, he was taken to the Ganta United Methodist Hospital where he later die”.

According to our source, a community member a lady explained that the victim Grace came from outside in the morning and started complaining about her room door begin broken.

” The lady said that she only heard Grace complaining that she locked her room but did not know who open it behind her, but after some time I was not hearing from her, I decided to go check, I entered her room and saw the pool of blood that how I started calling community members to come, but when they came, Grace was not alive, only Preston was still breathing,”

The Liberia national Police said it has started an investigation into the incident to know what really happened.

A woman identified as Balogun Yetunde has died after she was allegedly poisoned by her mother-in-law in Ilorin.

Salemgists gathered from sources that the young woman gave up the ghost after her husband’s mother poisoned her using snipper (Dichlorvos or 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate)

The source who was in great grieve over the death of Yetunde said she was a graduate of University of Ilorin, Linguistics Department.

As at the time of this report, it was unclear what made the woman to end Yetunde’s life but salemgists learnt that the incident took place at Ara Oje Compound, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

However, a course mate of the deceased made some revelations that suggested what led to the death of Yetunde.

The deceased course mate identified as Oyeronke Oluwakemi G-Fadele said the deceased has two beautiful daughters with her husband.

She said:

A course mate of mine from the University died yesterday and it’s alleged that she was poisoned by her mother in-law. Her name is Balogun Yetunde and she was a mother of two beautiful girls. It is said that her husband is a Muslim from Ilorin and that her in-laws have never been cool with her or the fact that she was involved with their son. They only had an introduction. Yetunde until her demise stayed in Ilorin while her husband was shuttling Abuja and Ilorin. Yetunde had on several occasions left their home to go back to her parents or relatives due to some marital issues of which she had spoken to some of our course mates and other friends about, unbeknownst to her husband and his people.

Yetunde is dead and according to reports she was poisoned. How? Why? All these we are still trying to ascertain as the narrative seems to be different from the husband’s side. The husband never put a call through to her family that their child was dead. It was her cousin who came bearing an item which Yetunde had requested from home that got to know and made the family realise that.

A twist to this narrative says she took snipper, meanwhile reports say her children are also in the hospital due to the fact that they also shared in the food their mother ate.

We want justice for Yetunde as we her course mates are just getting the whole pieces of this puzzle together. Up until this moment, no family member of her husband’s has formally paid Yetunde’s family a visit and access had been denied her older sister to her corpse.

No fewer than 12 persons were massacred by gunmen suspected to be Fulani militias in Benue community.

Salemgists gathered that bodies of the victims recovered so far included women and children.

Sources in the community revealed that the heartless gunmen lunch the attack Monday night at about 11pm on Tiortyu community in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was also gathered that the local government is where the current minister of special duties and intergovernmental affairs, Sen. George Akume hails from.

Another source told salemgists that several others who sustained injuries from gunshots while fleeing the attack are currently receiving treatment at the NKST Christian Hospital in Uchi.

As at the time of this report, youths of the area are protesting against the deadly attack. The protesting youths blocked the Makurdi-Gboko-Calabar Road grounding traffic on the ever-busy major highway.
