Nigeria troops with the help of NAF fighter Jets foiled a deadly attack on Kartako Village in Yobe State.
Boko Haram insurgents whose activities were short lived after storming the village had little time to operate before receiving an intense counter from troops on ground who were later assisted by NAF fighter Jets.
As at the time of this report, details about the incident is still sketchy but unspecified number of terrorists were killed.
Salemreporters reported earlier that two young men were arrested over the death of Joy Onuh Ogochuckwu, who was raped and murdered in Benue state.
The fresh graduate of the Department of Mass communication of Benue state university, Makurdi was found raped and killed in the late hours of Tuesday, October 19.
However, police got involved and through the help of neighbors, someone was quickly suspected of the murder.
When police arrived, indeed it rained that night so it was easy to spot many footprints on the door step of the suspect as though a group of persons fought the previous night.
The suspect could not return the whole day until next day morning, the police close on him and arrested him.
The police searched his room and found 11 sim cards. In his statement, he denied committing the crime.
A track was placed on the line of the murdered lady and a second suspect and was found as the one who called the lady to bring the goods to Northbank area of Makurdi
The two suspects later accepted to have committed the crime during a thorough interrogation. They are all in police custody at the moment.
Salemreporters stumbled opon a video of veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu making his case before men of the Nigerian Army.
The actor was arrested by soldiers after he was spotted wearing a cloth with Biafran colors in Anambra state.
The comedian and movie producer was dragged and manhandled by the Soldiers on the highway.
In a video, the actor was trying to prove to the Nigerian army that the cloth he was wearing has nothing to do with Biafra.
He said he was just wearing a colourful cloth with a sun on it and it had nothing to do with Biafra, adding that he was very educated and he knows what he is saying.
We Have Lost Our Wives To Okada Men’ – Benue Pensioners Protest 34, 74 Months Arrears
Pensioners under the auspices of Aggrieved Pensioners in Benue state have held peaceful march to protest 34 and 74 months of arrears of pension and gratuity owed them at the state and local government levels respectively.
The aggrieved pensioners who took off from Ken Ville Park, High Level area of Makurdi, went round the city center chanting solidarity songs while bearing placards with inscriptions such as “All We Are Saying, Give Us Our Pension And Gratuity Mr Governor,” “Mr Governor, Defender of Benue Valley Please Defend Us Pensioners Too Otherwise We Die Finish,” “Mr Governor, Pay Us Our Pension And Gratuities. We Too Need Money To Eat,” among others.
Chairman of the group, Mr. Akosu Ugba, who led members round the town, told journalists that they are holding a peace protest to demand their pay and to also let the whole world know what they are going through.
“We have gathered to tell the whole world what is happening to us. We want to let the world know that we are hungry, that we have been maltreated.”
Describing their non-payment as inhuman, Ugba said “what is happening to us is inhumanity to humanity. We have not been paid for 34 months and 74 months at state and local government respectively.
“Our children no longer go to school because we cannot afford their school fees. We have lost our wives to okada people because we are no longer economically productive. We cannot do anything. Some of our people are dying because they are on special drugs, some on special diets but cannot afford them again.”
The Chairman who stated that Benue pensioners are dying silently following the inhuman treatment and the attendant psychological trauma noted that over 500 members have died so far.
He lamented:
“We had gone to the government house when we protested earlier but the speaker, Titus Uba, told us then that the bailout that was released by the federal government does not cover pensions. We spent seven days and seven nights after which thugs were sent to chase us away.”
He, therefore, called on the state government to pay their entitlements of 34 months and 74 months arrears at the state and local government respectively saying:
“Now that the Paris Club refund has been released at the same time with the federal allocation, they should pay us six months out of the 32 and 74 months being owed to alleviate our suffering and stabilize us and thereafter pay two months consecutively until the backlog of the arrears are cleared. This is our demand.”
The Next Edition recall that state Governor Samuel Ortom had pleaded with pensioners, when they protested in 2019, to be patient with his administration as it will find ways to offset their arrears.
He has, however, domesticated the PENCOM Law to enable government pay the arrears of pension in the state.

Hon. Chris Emeka Azubogu who is currently serving a second term as a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency has been abducted.
The lawmaker was abducted by unknown gunmen during an attack on his convoy on Thursday, September 30.
It is learnt that the 52 years old lawmaker recently dumped All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
It was gathered the lawmaker’s driver and police escort was also shot dead in the deadly attack.
Video emerge of armed Ambazonia separatist group travelling on several motorbikes in an unknown location in the Northwest and South West region of Cameroon.

A gun battle between Cameroonian soldiers with separatists left one dead and four others seriously injured.
It was gathered that the incident occured along the Muyuka-Kumba highway in Muyuka, Cameroon.
The incident which happened this morning, September 15th left a young lady identified as Vanessa dead.
According to reports, she died after she was hit by a stray bullet around Mbonge a village along the Muyuka-Kumba highway.
It is reported that Vanessa left Limbe to attend the funeral service of her friend’s Dad in Kumba when their car got stuck in the middle of the gun battle between Ambazonian separatists fighters and the Cameroon military.
Unfortunately a bullet missed it’s way through their car and hit Vanessa.
The face-off between governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state and Federal Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume continues.
It can be recalled that Akume made a triumphant entry into Benue on Monday for All Progressive Congress, APC, chairmanship campaign in the state.
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the state said the coming of Akume into the state was to rubbish governor Ortom and the PDP over the separate press conferences the duo held.
Akume held his press conference in Abuja where he called for state of emergency in Benue, disbandment of livestock guide and seek explanation from the governor on the over N500 billion Benue state earned in the 6 years of Ortom as governor.
However, some youths in Benue took to the streets of Makurdi yesterday, September 8 to march in solidarity with Governor Ortom.
The march which was tagged a ‘5000 man March’ commenced by 8am with point of take off at JS Tarka Foundation.
According.to them, the march was to appreciate governor Ortom for standing firm in the fight against insecurity.
During the protest, a woman was spotted with a placard that hot everyone talking, the placard contained a direct insult on the person of Akume.

A housekeeper identified as Eyanga Collette Mvogo allegedly stole a whooping sum of 600 million frs (about 446,911,707.60 Nigerian Naira) in Cameroonian Ambassador to Gabon’s house.
Since then, a search was launched by the forces of law and order to track down Eyanga Collette.
Fortunately, security forces track and arrest the suspect in her village in the East region of Cameroon.
Colette Eyenga Mvogo was arrested with 2 Millions Frs CFA in her possession. She told investigators that she only took 6 Million.

A security personnel with the Benue state university, Makurdi allegedly rape and impregnate a 11-year-old girl.
The man identified as Joseph Adoyi is the husband to Ene’s aunt. He constantly abuse the victim sexually until she became pregnant.
According to Ukan Kurugh, a activist who shared the story, the man started abusing to girl since she was 3 years old.
He said the man warned the little girl not to open up to anyone about the abuse, he warned that if she does, he would kill her.

That is the story of Ene When (names have been changed. In addition to helping her aunt, who is wife of a Benue State University (BSU) Makurdi with house chores, Ene silently suffered the abuse of her uncle until she became pregnant.
At three, Ene was sent to live with her aunt and her husband in Makurdi. Joseph Adoyi a security man at the Benue State University. Husband of Ene's aunt would found a prey to satisfy his sexual urge Soon, he began playing with her clitoris at age 3.
It continued until one fateful day when no one was at home. Straight from work, Joseph entered his bedroom only to come back to the parlour naked. Alarmed, little Ene protested, It was however too late. Joseph had made up his mind to have his way and nothing could stop him; not screaming from from the little girl.
Say it to no one, Ene said she was warned or she will be killed. Joseph would do again and again. Then comes changes in Ene's body system- from stomach upset, dizziness and collapsing at some point.
Suspicious, Ene's aunt took her urine for pregnancy test. The test result showed pregnancy. Abortion was suggested by the aunt but Ene preferred informing her parents. She was put in a public transport and sent home to Orokam alone.
Her agitated father sought to know why. Innocently, she told her father she was pregnant for her aunt's husband.
"This holiday, my daughter came home alone and when I asked her, she said her aunt sent her home. I didn't like the mood I saw her in and decided to take her to the hospital. That is where it was discovered that she is 3 months pregnant," Ejah who spoke through an interpreter told me.
"I could not bear it and sent word to my elder brother in Otukpo. I also called Joseph Adoyi and we met in Otukpo. He came with two relations. I took three with me from Orakam, one of which is a vigilante member.
"I took with me three Kola nut and a cartoon of Hero. The man refused to accept responsibility in the public. When called aside, he agreed that he is the one. After he accepted and I started crying, he requested to go and bring his other relations and that was how he left.
"My elder brother asked me to come back in five days and we came but the man could not pick his calls," Ejah explained.
Ene narrated her story to me before the Executive Director, Community Links and Human Empowerment Initiative (CLHEI), Dr. Helen Teghtegh. She was on phone with the BSU Vice Chancellor who said the matter be handle in line with enabling laws.
Ene's family said it is being frustrated by the police.
Dr. Teghtegh is therefore calling on CSOs to rise up to get this rapist face the music.

Many Benue State University students have been left stranded after they were sent out of lecture hall for not paying their school fees just one week into resumption.
The school also said they will impose extra fee on students who fail to pay up their fees before Monday next week.
