The Christian holiday Pentecost

(Na only serious coffee go save you). The funniest part is that you'll repeat same things the next day since the internet is faster at night.
4. PORN ADDICTION: You told yourself that you never visit that porn site anymore, but then remebered that you have a veery fast and free internet at you reach. You then tell yourself just one clip, from one you end up spending hours watching porn (how you go take stop). addiction continues since the na awoof internet.

“We were later informed by the police that the suspects escaped from the cell, so we mobilised again and gave them a hot chase. We later got them and we accompanied the police who took them to SARS”

While this field of science, “forensic anthropology” is usually used to solve crimes, Richard Neave, a medical artist retired from the University of Manchester in England, realized it also could shed light on the appearance of Jesus.

This however wouldn’t be Neave first discovery as he had ventured in controversial areas before. Over the past two decades, he had reconstructed dozens of famous faces, including Philip II of Macedonia, the father of Alexander the Great, and King Midas of Phrygia.

In order to create the accurate portrait of Jesus, Neave’s and his research team first step was to acquire skulls from near Jerusalem, the region where Jesus lived and preached.

With three well-preserved specimens from the time of Jesus in hand, Neave used computerized tomography to create X-ray “slices” of the skulls, thus revealing minute details about each one’s structure.

Special computer programs then evaluated reams of information about known measurements of the thickness of soft tissue at key areas on human faces. This made it possible to re-create the muscles and skin overlying a representative Semite skull.

What Is Advent?

Advent is the period of four Sundays and weeks before Christmas (or sometimes from the 1st December to Christmas Day!). Advent means 'Coming' in Latin. This is the coming of Jesus into the world. Christians use the four Sundays and weeks of Advent to prepare and remember the real meaning of Christmas.


There are three meanings of 'coming' that Christians describe in Advent. The first, and most thought of, happened about 2000 years ago when Jesus came into the world as a baby to live as a man and die for us. The second can happen now as Jesus wants to come into our lives now. And the third will happen in the future when Jesus comes back to the world as King and Judge, not a baby.

Some people fast (don't eat anything) during advent to help them concentrate on preparing to celebrate Jesus's coming. In many Orthodox and Eastern Catholics Churches, Advent lasts for 40 days and starts on normal last Sunday of November after Christ the king and is also called the Nativity Fast.

A High Court sitting in Lagos has struck out a N100m libel suit filed by a former Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Elder Effiong Esang, against PUNCH Nigeria Limited.

Justice Opeyemi Oke on Wednesday struck out the suit, which was over nine years old, following the claimant’s inability to appear before the court once in that period.



The presiding judge also awarded N250,000 cost in favour of the defendant.


Esang had filed for damages for alleged libel against the defendant following a press statement from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, which it published in August 2006, involving him.

But since the suit was filed on September 7, 2006, and after several adjournments, neither the claimant nor the second witness, Ubong Awah, ever showed up in court.

Oke, therefore, struck out the suit, describing it as an “eye sore and a bad image” on the part of the prosecution.

She dismissed an application by the counsel for the claimant, Mr. David Angye, to adjourn the matter to another date, to give his client and witness another opportunity to appear in court.

Angye had pleaded for the court’s understanding, saying Esang was ill and in Calabar, Cross River State and that Awah was out of the country.

Oke, however, said, “I strongly condemn the application for adjournment and I find no merit in this application. I, therefore, strike it (the suit) out.”

She said an attempt by the court to grant the application would mean that it lacked understanding of its job and essence.

Describing the court as a place for “serious business”, she added, “The court is not a dumping ground for cases.”

The counsel for the defendant, Mrs. Ayo Obe, had earlier asked the court to strike out the suit for lack of “unseriousness of the claimant”, and award the sum of N500,000 to defendant as cost for what it had been put through.

Obe had also informed the court that the aggregate sum of N60,000 it earlier ordered the claimant to pay the defendant had not been paid.

In her final ruling, Oke said, “I’m awarding N250,000 in favour of the defendant.”

Iran has sentenced detained Washington Post journalist Jason Rezaian to an unspecified prison term following his conviction last month on charges that include espionage, Iranian state TV reported Sunday.

Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi, the spokesman for Iran's judiciary, announced the punishment in a statement on the TV station's website.

"In brief, it is a prison sentence," he said. The verdict is "not finalized," he added, referring to an expected appeal.

Rezaian's lawyer, Leila Ahsan, told The Associated Press she had not been informed of the verdict — let alone details of the sentence.

"I have no information about details of the verdict," she said. "We were expecting the verdict some three months ago."

Rezaian was detained with his wife, Yeganeh Salehi, and two photojournalists on July 22, 2014. All were later released except Rezaian, a dualU.S.-Iranian citizen.

Rezaian went on trial in four closed-door court hearings at Tehran's Revolutionary Court over the past months. Last month, he was convicted of spying and other charges.

The Post has vigorously denied the accusations against its correspondent.

Rezaian, who has covered Iran for the Post since 2012, grew up in Marin County, California and spent most of his life in the United States. The Post, U.S. officials and Rezaian's family have all called for his release. Iran does not recognize dual-nationality.

Iran's state media, citing the indictment, have said Rezaian collected information on Iranian and foreign individuals and companies circumventing sanctions and passed them on to the U.S. government. Iranian state TV has repeatedly called Rezaian an "American spy."

Earlier this month, the intelligence department of the powerful elite Revolutionary Guard claimed in a report to parliament that Rezaian is an agent seeking to "overthrow" Iran's Islamic ruling system.

His incarceration and trial played out as Iran and five world powers, including the U.S., negotiated a landmark agreement in which the Islamic Republic agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

The Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra has threatened to move against leaders of the Igbo socio-cultural organisation, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo if they fail to guide their utterances over the Biafra agitation.

In a press statement on Sunday in Awka, Anambra State, by MASSOB’s national director of information, Uchenna Madu, the secessionist group described Ohanaeze’s utterances against the Biafra agitation as selfish and irresponsible.



The Ohanaeze chairman in Anambra State, Dr Chris Eluemunoh, had on Friday described the agitation for Biafra by some Igbo youths as a “madness,” saying that “Biafra died in 1970” when the Nigerian civil war ended.

But MASSOB, in the statement, said the Ohanaeze’s comment was vexatious and would be marched with desired punishment should it continue.

The statement read, “The widely acceptance and consciousness of Biafra can never be thwarted or dislocated by disgruntled Igbo.

“The Anambra State chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo statement against Biafra is selfish and irresponsible. He’s an Igbo saboteur who always would sell his family because of money.

“How can a self-acclaimed Igbo leader openly and shamefully disown and condemn Biafra, the living symbol of Igbo survival?”

It added that “MASSOB still believes that Ohanaeze Ndigbo cannot disown Biafra because the national leadership is still silent on this issue, but if finally it does, the Igbo nation will also disown and expel them from Igbo land.

“MASSOB warns Igbo to stop making open derogatory statements against Biafra or we shall banish them from Igbo land.

“MASSOB shall continue to represent the genuine interest of Ndigbo.”

CHRIST THE KING SUNDAY INTRODUTION AND HISTORY

Christ the King Sunday celebrates the all-embracing authority of Christ as King and Lord of the cosmos. Officially called the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King, it is celebrated on the final Sunday of Ordinary Time, the Sunday before Advent. In 2015, the feast falls on November 22nd.

INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY
Pope Pius XI instituted The Feast of Christ the King in 1925 for the universal church in his encyclical Quas Primas . He connected the increasingly denial of Christ as king to the rise of secularism. At the time of Quas Primas , many Christians (including Catholics) began to doubt Christ's authority and existence, as well as the Church's power to continue Christ's authority. Pius XI, and the rest of the Christian world, witnessed the rise of non-Christian dictatorships in Europe, and saw Catholics being taken in by these earthly leaders. These dictators often attempted to assert authority over the Church. Just as the Feast of Corpus Christi was instituted when devotion to the Eucharist was at a low point, the Feast of Christ the King was instituted during a time when respect for Christ and the Church was waning, when the feast was needed most.
Pius hoped the institution of the feast would have various effects. They were:
1. That nations would see that the Church has the right to freedom, and immunity from the state ( Quas Primas , 32).
2. That leaders and nations would see that they are bound to give respect to Christ ( Quas Primas , 31).
3. That the faithful would gain strength and courage from the celebration of the feast, as we are reminded that Christ must reign in our hearts, minds, wills, and bodies ( Quas Primas , 33).
Today, the same distrust of authority exists, although the problem has gotten worse. Individualism has been embraced to such an extreme, that for many, the only authority is the individual self. The idea of Christ as ruler is rejected in such a strongly individualistic system. Also, many balk at the idea of kings and queens, believing them to be antiquated and possibly oppressive. Some even reject the titles of "lord" and "king" for Christ because they believe that such titles are borrowed from oppressive systems of government. However true these statements might be (some kings have been oppressive), these individuals miss the point: Christ's kingship is one of humility and service . Jesus said:
You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones make their authority over them felt. But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to become great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all. For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:42-45, NAB).

Pilate said to Jesus, "Are you the King of the Jews?"... Jesus answered, "My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here." So Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world,to testify to the truth (John 18:33b, 36-37).
Thus, Jesus knew the oppressive nature of secular kings, and in contrast to them, he connected his role as king to humble service, and commanded his followers to be servants as well. In other passages of Scripture, his kingdom is tied to his suffering and death. While Christ is coming to judge the nations, his teachings spell out a kingdom of justice and judgment balanced with radical love, mercy, peace, and forgiveness. When we celebrate Christ as King, we are not celebrating an oppressive ruler, but one willing to die for humanity and whose "loving-kindness endures forever." Christ is the king that gives us true freedom, freedom in Him. Thus we must never forget that Christ radically redefined and transformed the concept of kingship .
Christ the King Sunday used to be celebrated on the last Sunday of October, but since the calendar reforms of 1969, the feast falls on the last Sunday of Ordinary Time, which is the Sunday before Advent. It is fitting that the feast celebrating Christ's kingship is observed right before Advent, when we liturgically wait for the promised Messiah (King).

HISTORY
The earliest Christians identified Jesus with the predicted Messiah of the Jews. The Jewish word "messiah," and the Greek word "Christ," both mean "anointed one," and came to refer to the expected king who would deliver Israel from the hands of the Romans. Christians believe that Jesus is this expected Messiah. Unlike the messiah most Jews expected, Jesus came to free all people, Jew and Gentile, and he did not come to free them from the Romans, but from sin and death. Thus the king of the Jews, and of the cosmos, does not rule over a kingdom of this world.
Christians have long celebrated Jesus as Christ, and his reign as King is celebrated to some degree in Advent (when Christians wait for his second coming in glory), Christmas (when "born this day is the King of the Jews", Holy Week (when Christ is the Crucified King), Easter (when Jesus is resurrected in power and glory), and the Ascension (when Jesus returns to the glory he had with the Father before the world was created). However, Pius XI wanted to specifically commemorate Christ as king, and instituted the feast in the Western calendar in 1925.
In the 21st century many Western Christians, Catholic and Protestant, celebrate Christ the King Sunday, including Anglicans and Lutherans. Unfortunately, in some mainline Protestant churches, "king" language is not popular, and the feast is downplayed. However, in a chaotic and unjust world that seems to scorn any kind of authority, many Christians proudly celebrate Christ the King Sunday, where the loving and merciful - and just - king of the universe is praised and glorified.
