Iran’s Fars News Agency reported Monday that the Iraqi Army had shot down two British planes ferrying arms to Islamic State militants.
Head of Iraq’s National Security and Defence committee, Hakem al-Zameli said the planes had been shot down over Al-Anbar province as they flew supplies to the militants.
According to the legislator, the government in Baghdad has been receiving daily reports from al-Anbar province on flights by US-led coalition planes airdropping supplies to ISIL terrorists.
Hakem al-Zameli said the Iraqi Defence committee had access to photos of the downed planes, which he said were “British”. Although the Fars News report didn’t specify whether the planes were simply British made planes or registered as British owned planes.
Al-Zameli said that Islamic militants depended entirely on support from United States and its allies.
“There are proofs and evidence for the US-led coalition’s military aid to ISIL terrorists through air(dropped cargoes),” he told FNA in January.
“The US drops weapons for the ISIL on the excuse of not knowing about the whereabouts of the ISIL positions and it is trying to distort the reality with its allegations”.
There have long been reports that the U.S., Israel and their allies in the West and the gulf emirates have trained and supplied the Sunni militants. The objective being to oust Syria’s President Assad and create a force with which to counter Iranian backed Hezbollah.
On the pretext of “fighting Islamic State militants”, the U.S. and its allies now appear to be preparing to ramp-up their campaign to oust President Assad.

There are NATO special forces in Ukraine fighting alongside Kiev. I saw a video of an American, with VA accent in Mariupol last month, and I'm sure there are Brits there too. Then you have got hundreds of Poles and those from the Baltic countries as well.

Anyway, I don't think Buryats are on the front-line in Debaltseve. They assisted during the last Putsch, but those fighting now are the Ukies trained in Russia. However, if at all they're still there - they'll stationed around Mariupol. The next putsch should be Mariupol against NATO special forces...that will be interesting.

In other news a friend of mine was telling me that the Buryats (Siberians) are fighting alongside the rebels and the Ukies are so terrified of them. The cease fire should hold now to a large extent and Putin should not over play his hand by going further.

I agree with you on this. Give them the brake they needed so badly. Plus the whole world is now seeing it that, ones the junta takes a beaten, they cry for a ceasefire only to regroup again. A stunning new report prepared by the Ministry of Defense ( MoD) circulating in the Kremlin today states that the Obama regime has “effectively abandoned” at least 150 US troops embedded with over 5,000 Ukrainian forces in the rebel surrounded town of Debaltseve in eastern Ukraine and left by Kiev’s government to die.
According to this report, the US troops currently under rebel siege are an ad hoc group of American Special Forces belonging to the Vicenza, Italy-based 173rd Airborne Brigade, CIA Special Activities Division ( SAD) troops, and elite mercenaries from the notorious US private security firm Academi (formerly known as Blackwater).
MoD knowledge of these US forces participating in the Ukrainian war, this report notes, has been longstanding since last year's US Army Europe-led Rapid Trident exercise in western Ukraine that comprised over 1,300 NATO troops, and Germany’s BILD newspaper reporting that their intelligence sources estimated that over 400 Academi mercenaries were involved in this conflict too.
Even worse, this report warns, NAF rebel scouts are reporting their having spotted NATO tanks inside the encirclement (Cauldron) at Debaltseve. According to their information, the possibility is strong that up to 25% of the 5,000-8,000 trapped Ukrainian army may be NATO.
Currently in this conflict, which according to German intelligence sources has claimed over 50,000 lives, this report continues, Ukrainian President Poroshenko last week refused to negotiate with President Putin for a “ green corridor ”to allow US and Ukraine military forces to leave Debaltseve and continued to lie to both his own people and Western allies stating falsely that these forces weren’t encircled.
So false, in fact, have President Poroshenko’s statements been, this report says, Semen Semenchenko, a Ukrainian legislator and field commander, wrote on Facebook last week that rebel forces had cut off the road between the railroad junction of Debaltseve and the Ukrainian-controlled town of Artemivsk.
“ Strategists, damn it!” Semenchenko fumed at Ukrainian military commanders with the news meaning that several thousand Ukrainian troops were effectively trapped near Debaltseve, creating the potential for a major Ukrainian defeat and leading him to call his own defense ministry spokesmen “ fairy tale writers in shoulder straps.”
Even today, MoD experts in this report note, German BILD reporter Paul Ronzheimer quoted another Ukrainian officer who warned about this dire situation in Debaltseve by stating that “ it is threatening a second Illovaisk, a massacre against the Ukrainian army”.
Of the gravest concern to the MoD, this report also says, were the eyewitness accounts of the over 300 Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered earlier today to rebel forces stating that the American officers commanding them in Debaltseve had ordered them, under threat of death, to continue fighting and to deliberately target civilians.
Upon receiving this dire news of the American’s true intentions from rebel forces interrogating these captured Ukrainian forces, this report continues, Russian military commanders immediately informed Dutch military representatives who are currently holding inspections in Russia’s southern region of Rostov next to the Ukraine border.

However, nearly immediately after the Dutch military officers in Rostov informed NATO command of the true facts, this report notes, the US shamelessly reported that a new column of Russian military equipment was headed toward Debaltseve…in spite of the fact that their own Dutch representatives were on the Russia-Ukraine border telling them no such thing was happening.
And going from the outright absurd to the fantastical, MoD experts in this report say, German television channel Zweiten Deutschen Fernsehens ( ZDF) then a few hours later aired a photograph of Russian tanks in eastern Ukraine, but which in reality were Russian tanks on patrol in South Ossetia in 2008 and causing the German media watchdog group, known as the Permanent Open Committee of Media Monitoring, to issue a complaint against the federal ZDF channel over false reporting on the situation in eastern Ukraine and stating that “ German coverage of events in eastern Ukraine has reached the height of fantasy, and is not worth taking seriously.”

Obama has shown that he is not a statesman and should hand over his nobel price. He is not dealing with the issue objectively and he let the opposition criticism get to him when they called him weak and indecisive. They did good projects together like a new START treaty, move overflights for Afghanistan etc. He should have built on that and make sure he Medvedev stayed in office and keep the relationship going but they made Medvedev loose ground when they killed Qaddafi after promising not to.

His idea to even consider sending weapons to Ukraine did not put pressure on Russia instead it put pressure on the Europeans to get a deal with Putin because the know that Russia will NEVER back down and fight to the bitter end since Ukraine is more vital to them historically and Culturally than any other country.

A deal as been signed and It looks like Donbass will get a special status and Ukraine have to start giving them their social benefits while at the same time allow them to govern themselves and Russia's aid most be allowed in with weapons moved back 31 miles or so

I think Putin is playing a slow, but very effective game in Ukraine, and he wants the Kiev Junta to self-destruct, gradually. While maintaining a balance between the hardliners at home, and the oligarchs. Donbass is gone forever now, and the rebels have dug in, with layers of defenses that would be very difficult to break - even if Kiev gets all the US weapons in the world. Hence every time fighting resumes, they always acquire more territory.

They signed a ceasefire agreement two days, and a lot of folks questioned why Putin agreed to a hasty agreement, since the rebels have about 7,000 - 8,000 Ukrainian forces (a lot of folks believe there are loads of EU and US regulars in there) in Debaltseve, and that's an opportunity to destroy a large chunk Kiev's fighting forces - and see a message to EU. But I think he understood what's at stake, and the bigger picture, hence the carrot and stick approach.

Anyway, I think the end game after Donbass, is Mariupol, for land corridor to Crimea. However, he's ready to play the waiting game, and both the US and EU exhaust everything they have got, without Russia necessarily getting directly involved. By summer the Rebels should smash Kiev to bits and they might have enough to declare a republic then. Personally, I don't think Ukraine will ever be united again, to be honest.
