*While writing any _date_ in the upcoming Year 2020, we should write in its full format, _e.g. 31/01/2020_ and _NOT_ as _31/01/20_; because anyone can change it to _31/01/2000_ or _31/01/2019_ or in between any year to his/her convenience and advantage!* _This challenge will persist only in the Year 2020!_ *So be cautious about this: _don't write_ 20 _and also don't accept it while receiving any documents and/or instrument of value from anybody_ whether corporate or an individual!* Please be guided!!! |

Federal Government The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council and representatives of the Federal Government will reconvene on September 4 to continue negotiations on the new national minimum wage. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the negotiators adjourned to the new date to allow President Muhammadu Buhari to wade into the disagreement of relativity and consequential adjustments on the new minimum wage. The meeting, which held in Abuja on Friday, had the Permanent Secretaries of finance and labour ministries, as well as representative of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission in attendance. Lawrence Amaechi, one of the Labour leaders in the negotiations, told NAN that both parties had agreed to consider their stance and allow the President to decide on the issue. Amaechi said: “Both parties are holding on to their different positions on the relativity/consequential adjustment of salaries. “We shall submit that stance to Mr. President to enable him wade into the matter. “We have, however, adjourned till September 4 to get the outcome from the team expected to take our positions to the President.” Amaechi, who is also the National President, Nigeria Civil Service Union, said payment of the new minimum wage was long overdue, urging government to be proactive to avoid arrears which could create another round of agitations by workers. Richard Egbule, the immediate past Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, headed the government side. NAN recalls that the new minimum wage bill was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari in April. However, deliberations continued as the issue of relativity/consequential adjustment of salaries still persisted. The Federal Government on May 14 inaugurated the Relativity/Consequential Adjustment Committee, which, in turn, set up a Technical Sub-Committee to work out the template for the adjustment of salaries of public service employees. In July, government proposed a 10 per cent increment for level seven to 14 and a 5.5 per cent increment for workers on level 15 to 17, a proposal Labour outrightly rejected. Egbule has, however, insisted that the 30 per cent increase for workers on levels 7-14, and 25 per cent for levels 15-17 demanded by Labour |
BREAKING: Kaduna to pay new minimum wage from September 1 LATEST NEWSTOP NEWS By Muhammad Sabiu - Kaduna On Aug 26, 2019 Kaduna State will implement the new national minimum wage of N30,000 from September 1, 2019. This was disclosed by the Special Adviser Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye on Monday. According to the statement, ‘the Kaduna State Executive Council today approved that payment of the new national minimum wage and consequential adjustments to civil servants will begin from 1st September 2019. “The Executive Council meeting, chaired by Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, the Deputy Governor, noted the commitment of Governor Nasir El-Rufai to strengthen the public service and its capacity to deliver quality and responsive public service. ALSO READ: Painter in court for allegedly absconding with customer’s N27, 000 ‘The council deliberated on the minimum wage memo and unanimously approved commencement of the implementation in September 2019. “The Executive Council stated its that commitment to the public service includes a desire to improve the standard of living of workers in the state. ‘Pursuant to that, the Kaduna State Government launched a pay review process early in 2018. A cabinet committee was charged with exploring how the Kaduna State Government can sustainably improve public sector salaries. ‘Guided by the twin principles of ability to pay and sustainability, the government considered several scenarios, bearing in mind the trend of internally generated revenues and allocations from the federation account. ‘ Several salary scenarios were considered, and one option was identified as the most prudent. A final decision was suspended as negotiations for a new national minimum wage appeared to gather momentum. ‘It was reactivated after the Federal Government announced the new national minimum wage in April 2019. ‘Paying the new national minimum wage and consequential adjustments will increase the wage bill of the Kaduna State Government by 33percent. Gross monthly salary outlay will rise to N3.759bn from the current N2.827bn. Middle-ranking officers from Grade 10 to 14 were awarded increments of 60%. |
