Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel have effected the payment of 30,000 minimum wage to Civil Servants in the State.


The 30,000 minimum wage implementation is confirmed by some Civil servants in the state who have received salary payment alerts ahead of Workers Day.

First governor to do so...

now 30k is the salary.
30 minus 18 = 12k
therefore % increase =
12/18*100
=66.67%
With 50k salary earner
66.67/100*50,000
=33,000k
New wage will be 50k+33k
83k.

Nyesom Wike
Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike on Friday said he would comply with the provisions of the new minimum wage law as approved by the National Assembly and recently ratified by President Mohammadu Buhari.

Wike who spoke through the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Emma Okah, said, Rivers state Government will pay whatever is approved by the Federal Government.

The Governor had earlier in various fora in the State unequivocally announced that the State will be the first to pay whatever was finally settled for as the new wage.

President Buhari recently signed into Law the N30, 000 new basic wage earlier approved for by the National Lawmakers.

It is expected that the Implementation will begin shortly after the inauguration of new administration in the country, on May 29, 2019.

My dear, the aforementioned process must surely happen. However, the house of assembly would accelerate the entire process. It would be to fulfil all rightiousness. As for the state legislative enactment process, It Must be followed but all would be hastened up. You can quote me anywhere on that one.

once minimum wage is passed it binding on all stake holders,if not where will the private sector take theirs to,once passed it is binding on all,that was why the governor on presenting the budget said it capture the minimum wage,when passed Rivers civil servant will have course to smile.

The date that it will take effect is today thursday 18th of April 2019

another source of income..... yes I know some of our senior colleagues rely heavily on WAEC malpractice, o sorry, WAEC supervision, but they still have one or more sources of income, we the so-called 13, 000 teachers must emulate them, in that aspect at least.

Please I think this has not come to raining insults,The supreme court only give judgement on the matter before her,that was exactly what happen on Friday and what will happen on Monday is an entirely different matter,the supreme court will give her judgement not minding what happen on Friday because the two cases are different matters.

APC will not field any candidate in 2019 election in Rivers state. Supreme court just upheld the judgement of fed high court disqaulifying all primaries conducted by APC in the state this afternoon.

That is not true as the supreme Court only ruled on the legal representation and not primaries.

please my honorable colleagues, how much is level 8/3 expected to go home with now the new minimum wage is 27k? I strongly doubt if Govnor Wike can make it 30k for us going by his treatment to workers. Those who know the calculations can help us out. Thanks.

I was told by an older COLLEGUE that the new minimum wage cut across our basic and allowance.So there is an increase of 50% in the increment.So my people do the mathematics

I don't think that is correct,minimum wage is #18000 and you can pay above and not below,so the minimum wage Edo State civil servant gets at the end of the month is #25000.
