Since May 19, 2010 when the passing of former president, Umaru Yar’Adua necessitated his becoming the president, President Goodluck Jonathan has stuck with Namadi Sambo as vice president. Before then, Sambo was the elected governor of Kaduna State in 2007 and served in that capacity for three years. Born in August 2, 1954, Sambo trained as architect at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

In the build up to PDP’s special national convention where Jonathan’s candidacy was ratified, there were strong agitations from his native North-west as well as other quarters for Sambo to be dropped as Jonathan’s running mate but the President refused, describing him as a “loyal and tested person, dependable and trustworthy gentleman and true patriot.” Sambo is believed not to have any political structure, although the current governor of Kaduna State is his protégé.




In the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), high-wired politicking heralded the emergence of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, Mohammadu Buhari. From Ogun State and born on March 8, 1957, Osinbajo’s emergency negated a norm which always favoured the nomination of serving or former governors as vice presidential candidate of the party.

He beat Governors Rotimi Amaechi and Adams Oshiomhole to become the Vice presidential candidate of the party. Osinbajo is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who once served as Commissioner of Justice and attorney general in Lagos State. Before this time, he used to lecture at the University of Lagos where he rose to become a Professor of Law at the age of 33. He is a Senior Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Some believe that the vice presidential candidate will turn out to be a stooge of former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu if his joint-ticket with Buhari succeeds. Tinubu is believed to have played a great role in the nomination of Osinbajo.

Fiery Enugu cleric and founder of Adoration Ministries, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka on Sunday called on Ndigbo to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential elections.

Mbaka, who spoke while receiving First Lady Dame Goodluck Jonathan at the Adoration Ground Emene, near Enugu, proclaimed that those fighting Jonathan would meet their down fall, saying that Greatness comes from God.

The Roman Catholic Priest told the First Lady that APC posed no threat to her husband in Enugu, saying that people of the state view the opposition party as Boko Haram party.

This foolishness needs to stop. Because you never saw a picture of him catering to the downtrodden before now doesn't mean that he never did it before. Besides, he is not caring for the downtrodden in those pictures as you suggested, instead he is campaigning for votes and raising awareness for his political ambition in the forthcoming elections. He is not only a pastor or a prof, he is also a politician. Stop criticizing Osinbajo for doing his job as a politician. A man is allowed to have many sides to him.

Jimi Agbaje is an established and successful private individual of impeccable character unlike people like Ambode, Fashola and Osibanjo who are Tinubu boys and whose claim to fame is working for Tinubu govt. Lagos needs a pragmatic and independent leader like Jimi Abaje and not another Tinubu lackey who will do the bidding of Tinubu for 8 years. Who will stand helplessly as Tinubu fosters his Family across all political seats in Lagos. It's time up for Tinubu

Oga, Fashola is not the subject of our discourse. The delegates of APC chose Buhari as the party's candidate, not Atiku, Kwankwonso, Okorocha or Nda-Isaiah that contested with him; not to talk of Fashola who never contested. I hate when people say they would have loved to vote for APC if Fashola had been chosen as their candidate. Would you have loved to vote for PDP if Lamido had emerged the party's candidate?
