Ownership was transferred from the Federal Military Government to the Civilian Federal Government after military rule so it's still a federal government arrangement.

2. I can pull up endless threads relating to issues about other places in Nigeria and even positive things like projects commissioning where predominantly trolls from the SE with nothing better to contribute or anything to show from their own villages shows up to spew negativity, hatred and bigotry so cut out the hypocrisy.

3. You people spend more time on other people's issues than you spend on your own lazy, vision less and unproductive governors with nothing to show for all the taxes and allocations collected on your behalf hence your lamentations in this thread.

4. You kill yourselves over Osun and Aregbeshola as if he's your governor or as of he's responsible for your lives when in fact he's many times more productive than all your governors combined.

5. Who is Tinubu and what's the Tinubu guy supposed to mean? Is Tinubu my Father or uncle?

6. It's not my problem that you people are obsessed with Tinubu as if Tinubu took your taxes and allocations and denied you progress or he's responsible for not building your 2nd NB.

What's the meaning of the fixation on Tinubu? Exactly what did he took from you village that drives you nuts and berserk?

7. Even with all your failures and lamentations in this thread, there's not a single word on how your vision less, lazy and unproductive governors failed you, not accountability or any questions, but if it was any governor in the SW, you have so much to say, so much hate and bigotry to spew.

Lol.. very amusing as you keep turning simple logic on its head. It is on record that the airport was built by a state government using state funds; whatever agreement or deal which was struck later for the FG to take over the airport is inconsequential. What matters is that the airport was originally built by the state government using Imo state funds, unlike other airports across the country at the time which were clearly built by the FG. We can go on and on, but facts are sacred and cannot be changed.
[/s]

Not interested in your empty talk.

That airport was built by a military administrator under military rule hence FG hence the airport remaining property of the FG.

Where is the sense and wisdom in building any airport with your own money and then turn around and hand it over to the FG.

Tell us why the airport is today federally owned.

It was never turned over to anybody unless you have any handover documentation to back it up with.

It was a FG airport from begining till now.

You can not even give us any sane and rational reason why a state airport magically turned into a FG airport.

Osun is building an international aiport from scratch, but it's never going to be a FG airport.

jigawa state built the best state airport so far and it remains a state airport and so it shall remain.

So please tell us why it's a different story with imo airport and why a state airport is turned into a FG airport.

Even if it was a state airport which it's not, why was it turned over to the FG?

Because the folks in the SE are too lazy, clueless and incompetent to manage a small village airport?

Under military rule are you suggesting we didn't have 3 tiers of government?... Something built by a military administrator of a state using state funds, you claim it is a federal project because it was under military rule; this your logic is quite weird.
You should be telling us how the same airport built with state funds and should still be owned by the state is now owned by the FG.

What happened? The state sold the airport to the FG or the FG just sent the military to Imo state to commandeer the airport and made it a FG airport?

I think the comprehension of what's written shouldnt be too difficult. Imo state's airport (Sam Mbakwe airport) was the first STATE BUILT AND STATE OWNED AIRPORT IN NIGERIA. That the FG has taken over ownership doesnt mean it wasnt built by the state.

Similarly, the Imo State University (presently Abia State university after state division) was the first state owned university in Nigeria. Things like this is what is obtainable when forward-thinking and patriotic leaders like Sam Mbakwe are at the helm of affairs.

I totally agree with Adaure4ever, with the right leadership, right cooperation and coordination at the state and regional level, no region in Nigeria really needs the FG to progress. But a constant flow of bad leaders is what is responsible for the mess we have today across Nigeria. The problem is even further complicated by the fact that the useless leaders have somehow been able to successfully brainwash the people and divert the blame of their failures to FG or 'other tribes.'
[/s]

It was built by the military administrator of the state under military rule which means it was built by the FG hence the airport belonging to the FG since day one. The FG can not take over what belongs to any state in Nigeria.

The way you always seem to drag igbos into any topic is pathetic.
More often than not, people with such bigotry are often from poor homes. You have my sympathy.
Now on the topic, let me educate you since you are too childish to see far into the plan(even when it is boldly written in the news).
It was stated there that the south east gave their support to agbaje. That alone is an indication that igbos are the least tribalistic people in this nation. In 1979,yorubas voted Awolowo and lost while igbos voted Shagari/ekwueme and won. In 1999,they voted obj(a non igbo),even ekwueme who lost to obj called on igbos to vote him. Your people voted falae and lost. In 2007,igbos and south south voted yaradua(a non igbo),Tinubu backed Atiku and yorubas lost with him. In 2011,igbos voted GEJ(a non igbo) and tinubu again threw in Ribadu and Adeola and yorubas lost with him. Yorubas only vote their own brother and they want to paint others as tribal. Hypocrisy.
Kid,if you have deeper insight, you will see that by ceding that office to south west, the VP automatically goes to south east which is a better office. Besides, igbos know that agbaje is a more modern and suave politician with no dent of efcc chain on him. It marks the gradual phase off of the politics of 1st republic grandfathers(as still obtained in apc) and begining of a new generation. It takes some smart people to know that.
Don't worry kid,as you grow older you will understand
1. ibo people voted for Agbaje because he was a member of the PDP and the same party ibo people follow follow for 16 unproductive years.

You voted for agbaje not because of his yoruba tribe, you dod because you all belong to the PDP, you could have shown that you are not tribal by voting for Buhari.

2. ibo people voting agbaje didn't have anything to do with ibo not being tribalistic, in fact it was based on tribalism and the fat that agabje was Yoruba made zero difference, abaje Yoruba or not doesn't represent our interest in Yorubaland and his party was anti Lagos state and developments in Lagos state and ibo people generally always align with people with who are against the interest of Yoruba people.

ibo people eat and breath tribalism all day, every day and 24/7, this is what people all over the world know about you people.

Sam Onunāka Mbakwe, the first civilian governor of old Imo state was the one who built Imo airport which is presently known as SMICA(Sam Mbakwe international cargo airport).
The airport was built from donations of Igbos from present day Imo, Abia and Ebonyi South senatorial zone as these areas were the old Imo state.
We as Igbos were so proud of that airport to the extent that the first act of the buhari military administration in Jan '84 was to seize control of all airports in Nigeria(smica inclusive)
My grannies contributed for that airport, so don't come give me that northern BS!
And it was bkos buhari was so jealous of Sam mbakwe's achievements in old Imo state that he decided to leave him in prison... Only the coming of IBB freed the gentleman.
Even the milAds you're screaming about were Igbos, so what the trash are you saying sefhuh
Stop lying abeg...

Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport also known as Imo State Airport,[2] serves Owerri, the capital city of Imo State in southeastern Nigeria. The airport is named in honor of a former governor and politician-philanthropist, the late Chief Sam Mbakwe of Imo State. It is the first state-government built airport. Navy Commodore Anthony E. Oguguo who was appointed military governor of Imo State in Nigeria from 1990 to 1992 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Mbakwe_Airport
It was built my the military administration during military rule which makes it a FG built airport hence the FG remaining the owner and operator.

Adaure4ever:
One Of My Deep passionate dreams is to see a well developed South East Geopolitical Zone.
South East comprise of 5 states, Abia, Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi and for this states to be developed, they need to be centralized and united in planning.

Number 1
Setting Up A South East Developing Cooperation(SEDC) that will be sponsored by the 5 SE Governors and will have their branch offices in every states in the south east.

Number two
Opening Up A Joint saving Account Of The 5 SE States where
a) a deposit of atleast 200million per state governor will be made every month.
200million x 5 states=1 Billion per month
b)50million per month by the 15 senators in South East.
50million x 15= 750million per month
c) 10million per month by the 30
Federal house of reps from South East.
10millionx 30= 300million per month.
----
NOW ADD THEM UP TOGETHER= 1 Billion plus 750million plus 300million= 2 billion,50million naira.
----
Then if SEDC realise approximately 2 billion per month, multiply it by 12month= 24billion naira.
Multiply the yearly 24billion naira by 10years = 240Billion naira.
Thats means that 240billion naira will be in South East Development Cooperation(SEDC) account in just a span of 5years upon establishment.
---
- With 240billion invested in South East, will it not develop the Geopolitical zone the more, make it a hot investment zone and attract Igbo business men back.
For example,
- 1. If Akwa Ibom state completes its seaport, SEDC can build a Light Rail project from Aba to The seaport in Akwa Ibom, in order to boost up a close importation and revive south east economy.
---
- 2. SEDC can build a multipurpose industrial park in Nnewi, investors are on ground to key into the project.

----
- 3. SEDC can pull investors to invest in Enugu Coal inorder to Power up the South East. Enugu coal can serve the 5SE states in constant electricity for up to 100years.

----
- 4. SEDC can launch and build an Agro-industrial and processing zone in Ebonyi state inorder to tap into their Agricultural potential and create jobs.

----
- 5. SEDC can turn Owerri into an Educational and Tourism base in SE.
A University that will be international standard can be built in Imo and the tourism potential of the state harnessed like the oguta lake.
----
- 6. SEDC can fix SE federal roads by itself.
IGBOS, We are a unique people, let us look inward and develop the south east.
We are on our own in this country- Adaure4ever
lol @ joint account,

Like seriouslyhuh Do you have any knowledge than the one you gathered from textbooks? Do you know what I do for a living? I work in an Electrical Power Construction company and to think you're bringing textbook knowledge here is pathetic. Do you know what it takes to generate, transmit and distribute? Do you know that your nation just added 600MVA to evacuate from Egbin thermal station? Do you know how much it cost you government? (I'm proudly a Project Engineer on those projects which I doubt you've ever seen the type all your life). What do you even know about Nigeria Electricity? You don't come out to spew thrash on what you just have textbook knowledge about.
Under IKEDC alone, we have embedded Power projects that has helped their distribution area alot. Nigeria should go that way.
For you that is spewing thrash, at what voltage does you nation generate? My company built the 75MW power plant at Portharcourt and I daresay, you have not more than textbook knowledge about your country power sector. An embedded Power project of 8-100MW can be built at ubiquitously. Folks like you just wanna think cos its practised in some countries, its gonna work in your country while not understanding your country.
Your country should rely less on the national grid and only use it to evacuate "surplus" energy to be sold to states that are relying on it. The only downside is that; its expensive to build an embedded power plant than a large power plant. This however is offset by the fact that;
(a) There's no need for a transmission facility.
(b) There's no danger that a sabotage of a plant will embarrass the whole country. This meant that the situation can be controlled and not the one when you have the whole grid collapsing like 3-4 times in a week.
FYI, Your National Grid still collapses 3-4 times every week due to the ailing state of your Transmission Facilities that can only evacuate 6000MW (That is adding the over 600MVA that has just been completed).

N.B: Before you come here to say things, kindly demonstrate that you have more that textbook knowledge. Knowledge without experience always leads to myopic braggadocio.
