No matter how you try to sugar coat your opinion, you know deep down am right but you will never admit it. Instead you are pointing to errors which in essence is obviously as a result of your mistakes.

Please let me be clear ones and for all which I think that where you are having problem with.
Having big plants in my opinion is best as long as each plant is atleast 1000mw. Now that is what I am talking about. Am not in support of tiny plants scattered everywhere.

In my original post, I stated that I do not know much about power generation. All am proposing is the best form of generation should be used considering all factors then we should build big plants for them. Or mostly have big power plants that we can really depend on. For example 1000mw in one state, another 2000mw in this state, another 500mw, 3000mw and so on. I do not like the 80, 70, 100mw idea period.

Please stop all this your solar panel lessons, I did not ask for it. Besides only God know how you got your knowledge on it cos I doubt you are an expert in this field. And please don't tell me you got it from Google because it only makes you look stupid.

No matter how simple a machine looks or function, it still going to need maintenance. Fine you are stating that it is little maintenance. Now have you considered that engineers will have to be stationed in each of these tiny solar plants. In terms of logistics and overhead please do maths before you come here to type poo again.

I rest my case.
On top of this projected 1125MW

We still have the 2000MW Azura-Edo IPP in Edo under construction

We still have the 3050MW Mambilla under construction

We still have FG's 215MW in Kaduna under construction

We still have another 100MW by the state government in the same Kaduna under construction

We still 252-MW Gbarain under construction

We still have 378-MW Egbema under construction

We still have 252-MW Omoku under construction

There are thousands of MWs under construction so stop wailing needlessly, Nigeria is ahead of you...

Now you are making some sense as regards to the Pakistan case. 10 1000MW solar plants is far better and not the tiny plants you are in support of earlier.
Pakistan is building a collection of solar power plants totaling 1000 MW

Nigeria is building a collection of solar power plants totaling 1125 MW

Ours is 1125 MW

Pakistan is lower @ 1000MW

But Pakistan's smaller total MW is still better than ours?

Smaller is better than larger?

Sometimes I wonder about the basis and rationalization for you people's argument. smh..

But because solar is sustainable does not mean you will not still budget for maintenance and security. So are you telling me you just set it up and leave it running on its own. Common
It doesn't matter how you cut and dice it, solar is still almost maintenance free unlike hydro, turbines, and even wind.

Solar have little or no moving parts or mechanical formations so breakdowns is minimal and repairs doesn't take days, weeks or months, it takes minutes or hours.

Lastly the 10 X 5000mw I suggested is just an example I stated if you have digested my original post very well. 1000mw atleast is very okay and not 70, 100, 80mw etc scattered all over the country.
You can not support any argument based on suggestions, unrealistic and impractical ideas.

Have you ever worked in a power plant before... You think it's just one generator unit they have,

You have no idea bro, you don't even know jack about power generation transmission nor distribution in this country, from your write ups one can easily tell you are quoting from PDFs

Lemme burst your bubble a bit, do you know that hydro powered plants are renewable energy sourceshuh Ohh you thought it's just solar and windhuh... Hydro plants are sustainable, they are what the whole national grid system relies on for black starting the grid, quit your game of playing the wise one here, just look at what Indian books have done to your life

Talking about solar powered plants, you think it's just the normal series and parallel connections they thought you back in school that they use in designing such systems, you think you just walk into the plant and replace any damage panel just like that without shutting down... Lol you must really be ignorant, time and energy will always be lost no matter the type of plant you operate as long as you have to carry out maintenance actions, so it's not just hydro plants it affects only... Mind you solar panels looses its efficiency as time goes by
1. The fact that Hydro is renewable doesn't mean solar is not.

2. Solar is movable and easy to maintain

3. Solar is not prone to environmental and ecological damage

4. A busted dam means disastrous flooding and deaths..

Please stop this ignorance, you are not helping yourself trust me.
The last time I checked I never stated the use use of hydro dams. All I said is pick what is best and build 10 mega power plants of lets say 5000mw each.
Lastly if you can process information well you should know that i clearly stated that all these 100mw mini power plants combined will be more expensive to sustain at the long run. And it is not just about solar plants.
I will still stand by what I said earlier, it is better to have 10 mega plants than having hundreds of mini plants all over the country. And please spare me the avengers excuse.
Is it not better providing full security for 10 mega plants than providing security for many mini plants.
About Dam, that was a mix up, I was going to reference the other poster.

To address your post.

10 Plants X 5000MW @ $1 Billion/1000MW = $50 Billion

Do you have $50 Billion or do you think Nigeria have N50 Billion?

You plan based on unique situations and available resources, not on fairy tales and what you can not do to sole your immediate problems..

Pakistan to build world’s Largest Solar part of 1000 MW generation

Entire solar park, with 1000 MW production ability is estimated to cost around US 1.5 billion dollars

http://germanystudy.net/pakistan-to-build-worlds-largest-solar-part-of-1000-mw-geneartion/

Here are some key highlights of Qaid-e-Azam Solar Park:

Overall capacity: 1,000 Mega Watts
Phase 1 Capacity: 100 MW
Completion of Phase 1: December 2014
Phase II Capacity: 300 MW
Phase III Capacity: 600 MW
Final Capacity: 1,000 MW
Completion of final phase: Dec 2016
Dedicated Area: 6500 Acres (Phase 1 Area: 500 Acres)
Boundary Wall: 9 KM
Annual solar Energy after final phase: 2,000 kWh/m2
Pakistan is building a collection 10/1000MW solar plants for almost the same amount we are spending so your point is kind of mute..

And about maintenance, this is just ridiculous, Solar is sustainable energy and requires little or no maintenance..

Don't mind them, all they do is come here to spew rubbish on issues they have no practical knowledge on. I myself don't know much about power generation. However I will definitely choose a plan of setting 10 mega plants all over the country to supply us a total of 50,000MW than having thousands of all these 100mw plants.
Common sense should tell you it is easier to track, maintain and grow these 10 mega plants I am sighting as an example. But everyone here is using the avengers situation as an excuse. So are you telling me now that the government can provide adequate security to important infrastructures in the country. If your answer is No than we are done. Nothing will ever be sustainable, it's only of matter of time before everything packs up.
All these mini power plants are not sustainable in the long run in terms of logistics and maintenance. Won't you rather have your engineers working together maintaining on one plant than moving from one village to another in different state tracking mini power plants.
1. These are solar panels with almost zero breakable moving engines and little or no maintenance, zero breakdowns and the fact that we have almost year round sunshine means solar has remains the best and cheapest option. They also take little time to complete. The worst is replacing solar damaged or broken panels which takes minutes to replace.

2. The hydro dams you are suggesting are labor intensive and their performance is based on water level, constant maintenance and repairs means shutdowns or reduced output.

Seems you enjoy disputing your own views with your own views..

A little education: Solar is sustainable and renewable energy.

Politics › Nuhu Ribadu Formally Returns To APC by aresa(op): 5:22pm On Jul 22, 2016
A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, on Friday returned to the All Progressives Congress.
Mr. Ribadu said in a statement he posted on his Facebook page that he rejoined the party online on Friday, and then hosted officials of the party from his Bako Ward in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Then on Friday, he visited the Yola South secretariat of the APC to present himself to the party.
He had left the party for the Peoples Democratic Party in 2014.
Mr. Ribadu, a former presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, explained that his return to the APC was triggered by his belief that all politics were local and that almost everyone around him who started politics with him believed the time had come for them to make sacrifices and concession.
He said, “My decision to return to the APC was triggered by my belief that all politics are local. Almost everyone around me, and with whom we started my political journey believed the time had come for us to make sacrifices and make concessions. That is in addition to the unbelievable love that my friends in the APC have showered on me in the past months.
“They demonstrated in words and action that they wanted me back home. The intractable crises in the PDP also made it impossible for one to contribute to the necessary task of building a viable opposition platform for our country.
“I also did a deep and long reassessment of the circumstances that warranted my exit from the APC in the first place. I left the APC in 2014 owing to fundamental disagreements with the ways the chapter of the party in my state was run after it fell into some hands.”
PREMIUM TIMES had reported on Tuesday that the Adamawa State chapter of the APC was wooing Mr. Ribadu back.
The former EFCC boss is one of the founding leaders of the party, but defected to the PDP in 2014, a few months to the 2015 general elections.
He left the APC after the impeachment of former Governor Murtala Nyako by the State House of Assembly in 2014.

Pakistan to Get Largest Solar Energy Plant in the World

Pakistan saw the inauguration of its first large-scale Solar Power Park in Bahawalpur around a month ago.

As per news, this solar power park will start generating 100 Megawatts of electricity in December this year while the output of the solar power plant would reach 1,000 megawatts by 2016.

Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park project is a joint venture of the government of Punjab, Bank of Punjab and TBEA Ltd. of China.

It is Pakistan’s first large scale solar power project and one of the largest in the world.

Entire solar park, with 1000 MW production ability is estimated to cost around US 1.5 billion dollars.

The Federal Government on Thursday in Abuja signed a Front-Runner Solar Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) worth 1.75 billion dollars with 14 companies to build 1125 Megawatts(MW) capacity of renewable power in the country.
Mr. Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing, who signed the documents on behalf of the government, said the agreement was to demonstrate government’s commitment to diversify Nigeria’s power industry.

The minister listed the companies as Pan Africa Solar with 75mw of electricity to be located in Kankia Local Government in Katsina and Nigerian Solar Capital Partners, 100mw located in Ganjuwa, Bauchi state.
Others are Afrinergia Power Limited, 50mw located in Kokowa, Nasarawa State; Motir Dusable Limited, 100 MW in Udi, Enugu State and Nova Solar 5 Farm Limited, 100mw located in Katsina State.
Also Kvk Power Nigeria Pvt Limited, 100mw located in Yabo of Sokoto state; Middle Band Solar One Limited, 100mw in Lokoja West in Kogi and LR Aaron Power Limited, 100mw in FCT
Nova Scotia Power Development Limited, 80mw located in Dutse; CT Cosmos, 70 MW located in Kaduna West in Kaduna State and Oriental Renewable Solutions, 50mw in Kakowa, Jigawa.
Quaint Abiba Power Limited, 50mw located in Manchor Local Government of Kaduna State and Anjeed Innova Group, 100mw located in Kafanchan, also in Kaduna State.

According to Fashola, the PPAs are the heart and soul of financing the power industry.
Fashola disclosed that before the year 2030, Nigeria would have achieved 30 per cent capacity in renewable energy, adding that Nigeria would invest in renewable power in areas such as Biomass and coal.
He explained that the era had gone when the country would depend on one source to generate its electricity.
He added that Nigeria sited many of its solar energy projects in the northern part of the country because the area had more sun radiation than other parts.
The minister expressed happiness over the confidence the investors had to invest in Nigeria’s power sector not minding challenges in the industry.
He assured the investors that the Federal Government would provide them with good investment climate but would not tolerate low standard in the quality of their projects.
Earlier, Mr. Waziri Bintube, Acting Managing Director, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading PLC, expressed happiness that the energy sector was making progress in ensuring that Nigerians had quality and stable electricity.
Mr. Marcus Heal, Managing Director of Pan Africa Solar, who spoke on behalf of the investors, thanked states, Federal Government and other agencies that assisted the investors to succeed in getting their PPAs.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the low rate of the tariff regime in the sector, adding that the investors had expected high tariff in the energy industry.

This is why we say all your chest beating means nothing, it's shallow and empty..

This is really myopic and pathetic of you undecided if someone outside this shores is reading this nonsense you posted here would think 'tinubu' is the name of the constituency Dino is representing. You mean the people of kogi west will not be allowed to vote their representative come 2019 because tinubu exist? A man who is far away in lagos deciding the fate of people in kogi state? You must really think this your Tinubu is alfa and Omega! Please do something about this your slave mentality!

Your role model.. Your example of a great leader..

And do you think beating and raping women or even issuing terrorist threats to beat and rfape women is normal accepted behavior outside our shores?

Issuing terrorist threats and threatening to beat and rape is a criminal offence outside our shores and this clown is still in the senate and not in jail is a reflection of our lawless and bankrupt society, the same society where people like you think violence and rape against women including your own wife, girlfriend, sister, daughter and mother is acceptable.

This is why you people are not culturally and communally fit to be lawful and decent members of any lawful society because you uphold and share the anti social values and barbaric behavior...

I know you were going to call me an Ipob because they are the only ones who can identify a zombie! I'm a northerner and the kind of mentality you guys display on this forum is really sad!
Sermwell:
I would have called you a fool but you are already one.
There's no one in your generations who will ever be as successful as GEJ in his political carrier. Compare this man with your father In his chosen carrier and tell me if your father has attained what GEJ has attained in life. After you have done that, you can now call GEJ clueless! Useless animal!!!
Comming from a village GEJ bootielicker...

I just wonder why some of you ipobs deny your village identity all the time...

Look, here, I'm not mad at you, I said if beating up women, your wives and raping women and other people's wives is your way of life in your barbaric village, keep it there in your village because such barbarity is not accepted in the SW and other sane and lawful societies..

It will be seen as stupidity of the century if Kogi people will allow their outspoken and courageous senator to be thrown out of the red chamber for his refusal to be intimidated by a female.
A slap on Sen Dino is a slap on the people of Kogi State whom he represents.
