DIKEnaWAR:
Very sad indeed. This government is bent on destroying the judiciary. It seems to be stopping it from hounding people into jail without trial.

Modified: These people are bent on ridiculing the Judiciary to justify their stance that the Judiciary is corrupt and an impendiment to the fight against corruption.

There is the NJC that is saddled with the responsibility of sanctioning erring Judges. This type of matter is reported to them. Not to be bandied about in an open Court. It will incite laymen who don't understand what is happening, against the Judiciary. Many erring Judges had been sanctioned and removed by the NJC without the public knowing. All an aggrieved person need to do is lodge a complaint with the NJC with evidences.

Members of the Bar also have the Legal Practitioner's Disciplinary Committee(LPDC) that takes care of erring Lawyers.

Now, judgement of the Courts that go against the government of the day, will be seen by the populace as judgements procured through bribery. This will go a long way in ridiculing the entire judicial process. People now have more faith in Buhari's judgement than Judgements flowing from the Courts.

A case in point is this: https://www.nairaland.com/2967523/njc-heavily-slams-judge-ofili-ajumogobia#43421370
The courts handles criminal activities like the ones these crminals participated in, not the NJC. JJC can not prosecute criminals or send convicted criminals to jail.

TonyeBarcanista:
When President Buhari broke the news that he won't be paying N5,000 to 25 million Nigerians(which is contrary to his campaign promise), there was a reaction of feelings of betrayal of trusts across the country (though some of us weren't surprise). As if that was not enough pill to swallow, the Vice President's office released a statement denying the existence of such promise. This denial came 24hours after the government's spokesman Alhaji Lai Muhammed insulted Nigerians intelligence when he appeared on Channel's TV on February 28. According to Lai Muhammed

Nigerians may forgive President Buhari for failing to meet any of his unrealistic pledges but can we swallow the denial and insults on our collective intelligence from the government? I think it will be appropriate to address the claims of the Vice President and that of the Information Minister squarely before gullible Nigerians swallow them as truth.

1. VP Yemi Osinbajo Claim of No "Unemployment Benefit" Promise:
It is never my intention to pick on Yemi Osinbajo, a man many see as the face of the righteous in government. It is however worrisome when the supposed model of Christians in politics engage in bareface lies just to suit interest of his government and group. First, he desecrated the pulpit by claiming that President Jonathan(and Yar'adua) built no road in 10years. Haba! As if that was not enough he has gone further to deny a key campaign promise of his party.

Was Yemi Osinbajo in limbo when APC Campaign team put up this billboard during the electioneering period?
[img]http

Is Yemi Osinbajo saying that Hajiyya Aisha Buhari, the President's Wife was out of her mind when she reminded them to fulfil the promise on November 10, 2015 through her spokesperson Mrs Adebisi Ajayi?

Was Yemi Osinbajo in limbo when in November 2014 the Youth Minister in the presence of the National Chairman of APC, John Oyegun reiterated the government's pledge to pay the unemployment benefit?

Is the VP telling us that Nigerians are stupid? I won't be surprised if the VP comes tomorrow to deny ever pledging to pay the elderly and disabled that he made on January 7, 2015 in Osun state. Quoting his own words....

Or will Osinbajo also deny ever making such statement?

2. Alhaji Lai Muhammed Blame on "Oil Price Fall":
Speaking on Channels TV on Feb 28, 2015, Lai Muhammed said...

While I will not spend time to address the effort of the Information Minister to justify a deliberate act of deception, I find his deliberate act of blaming oil price as offensive and inappropriate.

Firstly, oil price started dropping in July 2014 when Buhari was yet to pick up APC Presidential nomination form. As at November 2014, the oil price downed to $77 per barrel from $105 per barrel in July 2014. As at December 2014 when Buhari won the APC ticket, the oil price was at $60.70 per barrel. As at January 2015 when APC inaugurated their Presidential campaign council and rolled out their gigantic promises, the oil price was at $47 per barrel. As at March 2015 when Buhari won the election, the oil price shot to $52 per barrel. As at April 2015 when Buhari was declared winner by INEC, oil price was $57.54 per barrel. There was NEVER a time that APC made ANY promise when oil price was selling at $100 per barrel. Is it that it is only Alhaji Lai Muhammed that was unaware of this?

(See more on oil price history here https://ycharts.com/indicators/average_crude_oil_spot_price)

The positions of VP Yemi Osinbajo and Alhaji Abdulai Muhammed is not only a slap on our intelligence but a scandal on the government of Buhari. The statement by Yemi Osinbajo, that is supposed to be the face of born again Christian believers(which I belong) is worrisome. Is this a government of promised change or a government of change of promise?

Osinbajo Clears Air on N5,000 Stipend To 25 Million ‘Poor People’

Channels Television.
Updated March 26, 2015

https://www.channelstv.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Prof_Osinbajo.jpg

The running mate to retired General Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential elections, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday explained the ‘Conditional Cash Transfer Programme’ included in the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Prof. Osinbajo speaking on Sunrise Daily said “this programme is to lift 25 million of the extremely poor Nigerians; Nigerians who earn less than N200 a day to take care of themselves and their families”.

Prof Osinbajo, who noted that “we have 119 extremely poor Nigerians”, added that the fast way of dealing with that is the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme.

“We will give N5, 000 to the poorest 25 million over a phased period, if their children are enrolled in school and participate in immunization.

“So we are actually doing two things; we are giving stipends to the very poorest and ensuring that in order to earn that stipend they certify two conditions”, he said.

He further noted that the party decided on the 25 million figure because that is what they can deal with in the first phase, adding that “we are looking at phasing it over a period because it will cost about N1.35 trillion to do so if we do all 25 million at once.

He maintained that, if elected, the programme will be done in batches of 5 million people a year, adding that “depending on resources we can even do more”.

He said the N1.35 trillion they are proposing for the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme’ is not so much compared to the AMCON bailout of “persons who are in debt, many businesses and businessmen and it cost N5.7 trillion to do and that is a bailout of the relatively wealthy”.

He argued that the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme will be an injection into the economy by the beneficiaries, adding that it enables “them to put some money into that economy.

“This is the government’s way of not just energizing the local economy but also ensuring that people are empowered. That the very poorest are given a real chance in life”, he maintained.

Prof Osinbajo also spoke on how his party intends to tackle the issues of unemployment, security and corruption.

In a move to plug the shortfall in federal allocation which has rendered many state governments incapacitated, the six states in Southwest Nigeria have commenced cooperation on exploration of solid minerals in the region.

Representatives of the states gathered at the Cocoa House, Ibadan yesterday to develop a model on how best to explore the several solid minerals in their states to generate revenue, create employment and create more wealth for the people of the region.

They gathered on the platform of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission which organized the roundtable.

Analyzing the solid mineral deposits across the region and how best to explore them for the development of the region, the facilitator, Prof. Gbenga Okunlola, identified at least, 10 mineral deposits of commercial value which the region can explore.

The several mineral deposits, according to Okunlola include gold, tar sand, glass sand, construction sand, clay, oil and gas, limestone, granite, phosphate, gypsum, bitumen and silimanite. Others are dimension stone, gemstone, marble, aquamarine, tantalic, feldspar, tourmaline, emerald, quartz, syenite and topaz.

In his presentation entitled: “Strategic Engagement Document for Repositioning the Solid Minerals Sector in South West Nigeria,” Okunlola, who is a professor of Geology at the University of Ibadan, urged the region to develop a model to explore the minerals with a view to repositioning Southwest for self-sustenance.

He identified obstacles to the idea to include lack of funding, lack of clear-cut optimization model, misplacement and underutilization of capacity and lack of regional cooperation.

But he challenged the state governments to embrace regional model of intervention. If undertaken, Okunlola pointed out that the move will translate to establishment of exploration and mining companies, enable government enter into joint ventures with miners, adding that it will allow states share the risks and achieve better results.

The expert urged states to look away from the clamour for amendment of the solid minerals law to enable states acquire licence, saying only regional cooperation and stability are needed in the sector to attract investors into the sector for regional development.

The Director General of the commission, Mr Dipo Famakinwa, said the effort has become pertinent in view of the dwindling oil revenue.

He said: “We really don’t have a choice than to continue to see how we can move together to optimize the resources within our region. But the political will and the required coalition to move on and many of those things need to be put together.”

Rapists, paedophiles invade Enugu

https://sunnewsonline.com/new/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Rape-300x138.jpg

Group moves to curtail rising rape rates, as 320 cases are reported in one year

From Petrus Obi, Enugu

The stories were all the same. Their common denominator was chilling. For instance, there was the story of a 78-year-old landlord who defiled his tenant’s daughter. There was also that of a 10-year-old girl who was defiled by a student in one of the high institutions in Enugu. The student in question was staying with the girl’s family.
Narrating her story, the nine-year-old girl (name withheld) said that her landlord used threats and intimidation on her before committing the act on June 1.
She recalled how the suspect, Chief Ogbodo, invited her to his flat while he was alone and stripped her naked before assaulting her several times.
She recalled that after the act, she started bleeding severely and the suspect tried unsuccessfully to stop the bleeding, deploying both his handkerchief and shirt to clean the blood. She said he was still battling with the bleeding when his wife arrived and began knocking at the door.
“While he was cleaning, the wife came knocking at the door; the wife’s knock was so loud. When he later opened the door, the wife asked me about what the husband did, and I told her,” the girl recalled.
Our correspondent learnt that the case was charged to court and the man duly remanded. He was however, released and the case file was moved to the office of the DPP.
Similarly, a young woman narrated her experience at the hands of rapists who appear to have taken over the Coal City.
“I came out in the middle of the night to ease myself. But unknown to me, about five boys were hanging around the house. Immediately they sighted me, they attacked me, grabbed me and took turns to rape me. Afterwards, I reported the case to the police. Three of them were arrested, while two ran away. Since then, I have been receiving counselling and treatment at Tamar Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC).”
Another victim a 14-year-old girl said that she was passing through a lonely lane in the city when three boys allegedly pounced on her, beat her up and violated her sexually.
Also speaking, a distraught father of a young girl whose daughter was assaulted in his presence narrated the ugly incident. “I was inside my house at midnight when robbers barged into my home. They robbed me of my money and other valuables. They tortured me and then defiled my daughter right in my presence.”
With no fewer than 320 cases of sexual assault recorded in less than one year, it might not be out of place to say that rapists were actively on the prowl in the Coal City hitherto, known for peace and social tranquility.
TAMAR Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), a joint initiative of Women’s Aid Collective (WACOL) in partnership with the Enugu State Government, is a child of necessity born out of the need to check the incessant cases of rape in the state.
The ministries of Health, Justice, Gender Affairs and Social Development, the reporter learnt, are involved alongside the Enugu State Police Command. They are all partners in the fight against rape.
Set up in March 2014, TAMAR SARC provides high quality and confidential, medical, counseling and other support services to victims and survivors of sexual assaults so that justice could be achieved. It provides medical treatment, drugs, counseling forensic medical examinations/reports as well as supports recovery and encourages reporting of rape cases and other sexual assaults to ensure that justice prevails.
During a recent meeting with journalists in Enugu, the organisation announced that a staggering number of 320 rape cases were recorded in the state between April 2004 and 2015. The report also showed that 25 victims out of the reported cases were girls under the age of five while 57 were below the age of 10.
The report revealed that most of the perpetrators were often known to the victims. Most of the victims, 243 in number, were raped by one person while 72 cases were gang raped.

Presenting the statistical report during a meeting with Media Against Violence Network, the manager of Tamar SARC, Miss Nkechi Nwabueze, noted that the figure reflected only the few cases reported to the office, adding that many cases were not reported. Out of the cases, only one was successfully prosecuted. She revealed that the perpetrator was already doing a 14-year-jail term.
Miss Nwabueze said the media parley, was to brief journalists on the activities of Tamar SARC and seek their partnership in the fight against rape. The media and the general public she said, owed a duty to protect the children and youths by frequently reporting sexual violence and its consequences to the society.
She added that out of the 320 cases recorded by the centre, only 28 were charged to court. She attributed the low record of prosecution to the reluctance of parents and victims’ in seeking legal redress and the culture of silence associated with rape.
“Tamar SARC’s door is always open; we just need people to report cases through our hotline. They can also visit our office,” she said.
She lamented that some parents always retreated when it came to pursuing cases, stressing that any rapist or paedophile must be sent to jail to serve as a deterrent to others, thus stopping serial rapists who were on the prowl.
Also speaking at the event, the Behavioural Change Communication Officer at Path2, Mr. George Eki, said that the society needed champions of change, and urged the journalists to take the lead battle against sexual violence by effectively reporting rape cases.
While reacting to the rising incidence of rape in the society, the Executive Director, WACOL, (Tamar SARC’s parent body), Dr. Joy Ezeilo, said that the organisation’s records revealed that most perpetrators of sexual assault were people close to the victims including their teachers, security men, drivers, house helps or people working around them.
“Some of the men who do these things are related to the pupils in their schools. We have seen a case where a teacher defiled several pupils in his school. Please let us watch our girl children and create that confidence in them.”

It's perfectly safe to conclude that even the so called half baked educated PDP ground soldiers are equally senseless and unintelligent.

The VP was not in any argument about road reconstruction or rehabilitation, he basically asserted that the PDP did not build any new road..PERIOD.

...but the guilty conscience useless, corrupt and incompetent PDP manufactured their own silly, can't read and comprehend argument that has nothing to do with what the VP said.

Even this omokiri clown end up proving the VP's with his silly and irrelevant argument..

Btw, who awarded the contracts and abandoned the roads to start with? PDP?
