Nigeria ranked 8th among the top 10 countries with the highest level of terrorism in the world. The Global Terrorism Index (GTI) 2023 assessed terrorism impact in 163 countries. With a score of 8.065, Nigeria has a terrorism impact that is “very high”

Statists states that
“Political instability, citizen alienation, terrorism and violence define the Nigerian crime scene. Nigeria has recently been included among the countries with the least peace in the world, according to the Global Peace Index. It is the 18th less peaceful state. In addition, Nigeria is the sixth country most affected by terrorism, based on the Global Terrorism Index. One further serious threat in Nigeria is the risk of mass killing, or genocide. Nigeria is the second country in Africa with the highest risk of genocide and the sixth worldwide. This risk is influenced by a population of over 200 million people, a high child mortality rate, ongoing battle-related deaths, the country's own history of mass killing, and its ethnic fractionalization”

Former President Buhari, a core northern champion in his eight years of governance couldn't rehabilitate KD refinery, so it's you, a Southern minister that would make it work? Has the PH refinery started working? December production deadline is at hand...Well, I think the strategy is just give them false hope. Just say something they want to hear. Never say the truth as it's an abomination.
I guess u don't follow anything about Nigeria.
Buhari administration reached agreement with Korea through their envoy in February this year for the "quick fix" of Kaduna refinery and the work commenced.
Again, Buhari approved the rehabilitation of both PHC and Warri refinery since last year and the work commenced too.

PoliticsTinubu, Sultan, Ado Bayero, Others Listed Among 500 World Influential Muslims by ArewaNorth(op): 10:47am On Oct 14, 2023
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar; Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero; and 12 other Nigerian Muslims have been listed among the 500 most influential Muslims in the world.

This is the first time Tinubu, who became Nigeria’s President this year, would be listed in the annual publication of the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, Amman, Jordan.

However, his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, who has consistently featured in the list, is out of it even as Sultan of Sokoto made the list of the top 50 in the publication.

The National Missioner and Chief Imam of Ansar Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur-Rahman Ahmad, who has prominently featured in the list since 2016 when he joined the league, was also listed.

The publication in its 15th edition listed Shaykh Habib ‘Umar bin Muhammad bin Salim bin Hafiz, Director of Dar al-Mustafa in Yemen as the world’s most influential Muslim leader followed by the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as the second most influential Muslim while the Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic of Iran, Grand Ayatollah Hajj Sayyid Ali Khamenei, is number three.

This is just as it puts the World’s Muslim population at 2,074, 718,394.

The publication highlights people who are influential as Muslims and how they have been able to, through their influence, benefit the community both within the Islamic world and in terms of representing Islam to non-Muslims.

Apart from Sultan and HE Ibrahim Saleh Al-Hussaini, the head of the Supreme Council for Fatwa and Islamic Affairs in Nigeria, who were listed in the first 50 emerging numbers 18 and 45 respectively, other 450 were categorised into Scholarly; Administration of Religious Affairs; Preachers and Religious Guides; Social Issues; Business and Philanthropy, Charity and Development, among others.

In Nigeria, Tinubu who is a new entrant was listed under the political leaders’ category while President of Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the only Nigerian listed in the Business Category, emerged number 162 most influential Muslim leader.

Other Nigerians listed in the publication are 14th Emir of Kano and the Grand Khalifat of the Tijaniyah, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi; Secretary General of NSCIA and Registrar of the Joint Administration and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede; Ado Bayero and Sheikh Ahmad, who were listed in the category of administration of religious affairs.

The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, was listed in the scholarly category.

Others listed are Sheikh Tahir Usman Bauchi; Imam Muhammad Ashafa; HE Ibrahim Saleh Al-Hussaini; Sheikh Yakubu Musa Katsina and Sheikh Professor Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari.

Late Prince Ajibola Bola, a former Judge of the International Court of Justice, Hague, who died on April 9, 2023 was recognised in the obituary category.

Many are unaware of the role Kano played in the successful moon landing of the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, where Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon's surface.

In 1962, USA built a space station in Kano [lasted 1962-1967] towards a space race to beat Russia as the first country to land man on the moon. Russia replied by sending the first man to get into space ,Yuri Gagarin, to Kano.

Being geographically located close to the equator, Kano has an advantage for space missions, launches, and communication. Kano has that advantage.

Late Emir Alhaji Ado Bayero visiting the ground space station in KanoKano played an important role as a ground tracking station in Project Mercury, the first space project of the USA the success of which inspired more ambitious projects like the Apollo Project that landed the first human on the moon.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to undergo an independent medical examination.

Kanu’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, said the IPOB leader underwent a medical examination in an unnamed hospital in Abuja on Friday.

According to a statement by Ejiofor: “We are pleased to inform you that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu met with his choice personal physician yesterday (Friday) in a hospital in Abuja, outside the facility of the State Security Service (SSS).

“As part of the protocol, I witnessed the consultation. The medical examination was seamless and productive, and he (Kanu) will be progressing to the next stage soon.”

Kanu has been incarcerated by the DSS since June 2021, when he was arrested and repatriated from Kenya.

While in custody, Kanu repeatedly asked for an independent medical examination of his health condition.

I observed it is very easy to obtain an MBBS/BDS degree from other African institutes compared to European. AgricultureWith 50 Cows 20 Years Ago, I Now Have 1,000 - Idris Isa Bawa by ArewaNorth(op): 1:53pm On Jul 16, 2023
Idris Isa Bawa, an architect, resisted giving up on livestock husbandry despite the enormous obstacles he faced.

Bawa told Daily Trust that his livestock business began 20 years ago with about 50 cows. However, the journey started while in the university in the 1990s using part of the scholarship he got from the federal government to raise cows.

“I am actually into general cattle breeding, both dairy and fattening. I am so much motivated into dairy and general breeding because it is something I personally have passion for. It is an occupation I inherited from my parents and feel I should not abandon but rather improve on to ensure more productivity. I actually started a serious animal husbandry business since 1990s when I was in the university,” he narrated to Daily Trust on Sunday.

As the saying goes—that experience is the best teacher—the farmer said he had made so many mistakes, but instead of allowing them to kill his dreams, he decided to learn from them and move on.

“When I look into how I started, I see so many mistakes in the past, which I have learned and corrected over time. I actually started with a small scale, but with determination I am being able to grow to an appreciable level,” he said.

In a period where feed is a critical issue with livestock farmers in the country, Bawa said he had to devise a means to deal with the situation that has forced many to shut down.

“I am able to solve that problem by ensuring that I deliver affordable means of providing feeds to my animals. In my farm you will not only see animals, you will also see crop farms like maize, rice and others. The residue of these crops, the by-products are usually stored after harvest and used for feeding of my animals throughout the dry season. This has really helped me over the years in attending to the feeding issues encountered by many pastoralists. Also, I try to raise some special breeds of grasses to support the natural one we have in the area, although it has its own challenges in terms of watering them during the dry season, considering the savannah nature of the area in Bauchi State,” he explained.

Today, Bawa’s farm (Baraji Integrated Farms and Ranches Ltd) has a capacity of about 400 hectares of land with a population of about 1,000 cows. This is, however, just about 40 per cent of what he wants to achieve. The breed of animals he has are mostly white Fulani cows
His choice was deliberate because, according to him, the white Fulani breeds have the “ability to withstand the long dry season of the area.”

The farmer explained that growth had not been as expected because of the issue of funding, which is actually a major challenge.

“Lack of funding resulted in taking me over 20 years to reach where I am today. I have not reached 40 per cent of where I want to be. I wish the government at different levels would come out with a good enabling environment to support farmers, especially pastoralists. This will go a long way to provide employment opportunities to many unemployed youths in the country,” he stated.

But funding is not the only major issue for the farmers. There is lack of government support to building their capacity to increase knowledge on good practices. Others include the issue of climate change, animal diseases, ever increasing cost of feeds, cattle rustling and general insecurity.

Bawa advised the government to take “measures to improve animal production, both dairy and fattening. This will go a long way towards solving so many problems in the country, especially at the rural level. Farmers can be settled in clusters and the government would provide all the needed support in terms of facilities and enabling markets for farmers to be able to raise their animals and easily sell their products to make a living.”
