Kyase is an APC supporter from NC who has once dismissed Tinubu's ticket on this forum , infact he once opened a thread about it.. You can check his threads and read his comments ..
Then Arewanorth is playing the same ostrich game quota system is playing...

Others you mentioned their names are clowns.. They are enjoying the anonymity nairaland gave them hence their games

In Democracy people are allowed to make their own choices and you can't force them to vote a particular candidate for ine reason or the other. We don't promise Tinubu votes Buhari got in the North but believe me Tinubu will win Northern votes ahead of Atiku and our permutation will work in our favour!

I remember, Ortom descended his hatred on Buhari and In few weeks time he took him out on official visit.

I'm a Northerner and Tinubu core fan. However, the kind of tribal confusion you guys are thrusting isn't in anyway making sense. Remember, during OBJ's administration OPC had uncountable number of clashes with Northerners and other tribes in the West, infact, there was never a time Nigeria had ethnic clashes and reprisal attacks that led to the death and massacre of many people like first tenure of OBJ but we all endured and made him President for the second time. No doubt, bandits killed much more people in the North than South, infact, the people killed by bandits in Zamfara state alone is much more than the orchestrated killings by bandits in the entire South and we still adhere with APC for obvious reasons. The worst which many generations of North to come will never forget is the killing of Sardauna and other prominent Northerners by Eastern soldiers, it still bleed in the heart of average Northerner.
Despite, all these, the reasonable people among us strongly believe that the ethno-religious killings in Nigeria isn't in the interest of the citizens but are done out of power struggle, political conspiracies by enemies of Nigeria. We shouldn't avoid competence and adopt ethnic profiling because of the actions of few among us.
Atiku shouldn't be dumped nor Tinubu or Peter Obi because of the actions of few bad eggs from their tribes.

Politics / Re: My Analysis: APC Muslim-muslim Permutations Didn't See Peter Obi Coming. by ArewaNorth: 7:49pm On Dec 13, 2022
Osamabinladenik:
The APC Muslim-Muslim ticket was specifically designed for PDP. For me, the idea of that ticket was based on the assumption that it can steal many votes from Atiku in the core Muslim northern region, it was never meant to factor a Christian southern aspirant.

This miscalculation is not surprising as APC didn't really see Peter Obi as a threat before now. They thought it was an euphoria that will soon die, obviously that isn't the case.

Is the Muslim-Muslim ticket working as expected?, No one knows for sure but from the body language of Nigerians, it seems to be backfiring. The reasons are as follows:

1. This has raised suspicion within the Christians voting Bloc in Southwest. Whether or not it's necessary but the truth remains that Tinubu will lose many votes on religious basis in Southwest because many Yoruba Christians will feel safer voting for another Christian irrespective of his tribe. This is because they are weary of supposed islamization of Nigeria.

2. Peter obi is taking full advantage of this miscalculation. It's no surprise he's getting warm reception at many Christian gatherings.
APC didn't expect that to happen because they underestimated him. He wasn't the reason for the Muslim-Muslim ticket in the first place

3. APC has automatically lost many northern Christian votes to Peter obi.

4. APC is now left with yoruba Muslims in the west then will battle with Atiku for the votes of northern Muslims. This wouldn't have been the case if they had just picked a Christian running mate because many people won't really vote for Tinubu on the basis of competence.

Conclusion: A christian running mate would have increased APC'S chances of winning the election

Some assertions may be right but APC/Tinubu predicted all eventualities before picking a Muslim running mate. Some analysis concerning 2023 election should capture the true permutation on which Presidential election can be won, INEC requisite of winning Presidential election.
The requisite is, a candidate has to win majority of votes and 25% of total votes in at least each of the 24 states across the 6 geopolitical zones of the country.
In all honesty, Peter Obi can't get 25% in more than 2 states in the North. Some states that Peter Obi supporters delusionally think he can win election are adherent supporters of PDP/Atiku and no amount of pressure or religious bigotry will change their voting pattern. Peter Obi will get fine bloc of votes but it is literally impossible for him to satisfy the criteria of winning Presidential election (first of all, he can't get majority of votes talk less of other requirements).
On the other hand, APC already has 22 states and I'm very much upbeat by the surreptitious plan of APC to win not less than 19 of those States with not majority of votes (at least 50%) and and target 25% in other States. APC has bigger chances than other parties.
Peter Obi and Kwankwaso are only making more damage to PDP, Atiku would've been projected as a man waiting for inauguration if not because of LP and NNP but the chances are vanishing.
Many things have been aspersed on Northern Muslims concerning religion but today it is obvious and plain who are traders of fanaticism in Nigeria, going from one religious house to another making the election look religious but the North don't even care about what they say or do. If North is truly fanstic as it was painted, the North would've collectively canvass for Tinubu for Muslims to retain power for longer years but we aren't interested in the bad game of religion as played in some quotas.
It is left for Yoruba Christian to vote based on religion and see what religion will bring to them.
Everyone should expect and prepare for the consequences of their choice. Nobody should come here and talk abt religion and politics again, the sun rises and we have seen plainly the agenda of everyone!

Travel / Ndoni: Story Of Hausa Fishing Community In Rivers by ArewaNorth: 9:44pm On Dec 11, 2022
Gifted with a love for adventure and travel, Shuaibu Sodangi has gone on fishing expeditions, which took him from Ndoni, Rivers State through a large part of the rivers, tributaries, islands and creeks of the Niger Delta, ending up in the region of Equatorial Guinea.

In many parts of the Niger Delta, as well as some of the neigbouring countries, many fishermen of Hausa extraction can be found fishing with locals, learning languages, identifying fishing spots, marrying, mentoring fishermen and very much becoming part of the communities. This is a trading activity and relationship, which in some areas, maybe several centuries old.

King of water

Sodangi, who is the secretary of the Northern Community, Ndoni, comes from a family of fishermen who are well established in Ibi, Taraba State, and they number in hundreds.

There is the Nwunyo fishing festival at Ibi, which attracts countless fishermen when it holds, he said.

Sodangi’s roots, however, are not just restricted to Ibi, they expand handsomely and stretch back to Argungu in Kebbi State. And he is directly linked to the family of the Sarkin Ruwa or king of water, the traditional head who oversees the famous Argungu Fishing Festival.

Kebbi to Niger Delta

Many years ago, and this seems to have occurred while Nigeria was still under colonial rule, many members of the family left Argungu and took a course that headed southwards, positioning many of them in different parts of the Niger Delta, Sodangi said. His family members can still be found playing significant roles in the local fish economy across a large swathe of the Niger Delta.

“In Ibi there is a ward famous for producing fishermen; and there are up to 100 fishermen in our family. My elder brother is the Sarkin Ruwa of Ibi, and we cannot do anything without his knowledge,” he added.

Sodangi said he arrived Ndoni in 2011, shortly after the collapse of a business he was part of. “I called my brother and he asked me to come to Ndoni and fish. I was doing business in Port Harcourt and fishing was a part time activity for me at that time. Members of the family usually combine fishing with any other job or activity they are engaged in. Catfish and tilapia are some of the fish regularly caught around Ndoni.

“Right now, my boys are in Bonny, fishing. They will bring my share of the harvest soon. I am no longer interested in that area in terms of fishing.

“River Niger is peaceful, and there are no problems here. In a month we go out four times to fish. Each week, I spend three days and come back.

“There is no community you will go to in the Niger Delta and you will not find members of our family. At Asabase in Rivers State, for instance, my younger brother is very active there,” he said.

‘50 Niger Delta women in Hausa family’

On what makes the Niger Delta attractive to Hausa fishermen he said. “The people are very friendly and generous. We don’t have problems with them. That is why we are here. They take us as one. The link with the Niger Delta starts with my community. My father married from the region. There are up to 50 women from the Niger Delta in our family.”

‘We like to travel’

He said the Sarkin Ruwa title was domiciled in his family, stressing that the title has been in the family for up to 100 years.

“The family has roots in Argungu, Kebbi State. Some members of the family migrated from Kebbi to Ibi in Taraba to fish. They like to travel. We have always been like that,” he also said.

Sometimes his brothers travel from Ibi to Ndoni, using canoes to navigate a route that goes from Ibi to Lokoja, Makurdi, Onitsha and finally ends at Ndoni. This is a movement that continues to this day. His family has a mental map of all the excellent routes and fishing spots from Ibi to the Niger Delta.

“As we speak, one of my younger brothers is on the way from Ibi through the river. I remember that during the 1992 census, I travelled from Ndoni to Ibi, following the river,” he added.

Hausa mechanics

At the Ndoni riverside, many Hausa mechanics can be found repairing engines of speedboats and other types of boats in the area. It is a very busy part of the area.

Musa Abdullahi arrived at Ndoni in 2005 and engaged in fishing but ended up as a mechanic. He had worked as a mechanic in Ibi before travelling. Three mechanics work under him. He services seven boat engines every day, and he charges N10,000 to repair one engine.

Jukun boat builders

In another part of Igbo-speaking community, Daily Trust on Sunday saw young Hausa and Jukun men who were busy building boats, which is slightly new in Ndoni.

Emmanuel Morris, a Jukun, was building boats at Abinsi, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State before he recently moved to Ndoni to continue. The Jukun are excellent fishermen and boat builders.

Morris, who said he had been building boats for two months at Ndoni, added that iroko wood is the best for the job and it is available in large quantities in Omoku, a neighbouring community which lies 30 minutes away.

Ndoni to Cameroon by boat

Stressing that he was born with the gift of boat making, he said, “The boat we have just finished building can comfortably accommodate 50 persons; and can last five years before it will need any major repair. It can even be used to travel to Cameroon from Ndoni. The amount required to build this type of boat is N240,000.”

Sani Usman, the chairman of Northern Community in Ndoni also said, “I am Nupe. My father brought me to Ndoni in 1971. He was a fisherman, so he used a boat to bring us to Ndoni from Onitsha. I was born in Onitsha and I lived at AnaEze for many years.”

Visitors are welcome

Speaking of many communities along the waterways and islands where Hausa fishermen can be found, he said, “There are Hausa people in AnaEze and Abaragada, a nearby island in Delta State. At Aboh in Delta State, the Hausa are involved in fishing.”

Usman added that most Hausa people in Ndoni and nearby communities were from Ibi and Wukari in Taraba State, as well as Jukun. He explained that crises in Taraba State pushed some of them to Ndoni.

Like Sodangi, he explained that Ndoni is a peaceful community where visitors are welcome and given a free hand to find work and earn a living. He said engine repairs, carpentry and fishing were available for the people.

He further said, “The Rivers State Government is not taking care of the Hausa in Ndoni. We produce catfish, tilapia and many other types of fish. We do a lot for the local economy but there is no assistance from the state government. We have to struggle on our own. Anybody who leaves Port Harcourt to come here does so with the intention of buying fish produced by Hausa men.

Ndoni is peaceful

He added that the population of the Hausa is increasing in the area. He estimated the number of the people in Ndoni and nearby islands and communities at 1,500.

He also said, “Ndoni is a peaceful area. Anyone who comes will want to reside here. This is why the Hausa are increasing in number despite the fact that we are not assisted by the government. As long as you reside in Ndoni without any bad intention, you will enjoy it. We welcome people from different places, as long as you are here to do a legal business.”

Opene Peter Chukwunwike, a councillor representing Onelga ward 14, Ndoni, said the people of the community were closer to the Delta Igbo than those in Imo, Abia and Anambra.

On the alleged neglect of Hausa members of the community, he replied, “I will disagree with that. As far as Rivers State is concerned, every tribe has people representing them. There is a leadership in Port Harcourt. There is Sarkin Hausawa. Anything that comes from the state, the governor will call upon the Sarkin Hausawa, who will reach out to other members of the community’.

Ndoni, a four-hour drive from Port Harcourt and the hometown of Peter Odili, a former governor of Rivers State, is peaceful and located by the River Niger.

For instance, in Kano during Kwankwaso administration more than 3k people werw sponsored to study a broad for Masters, Aviation among others, more than 6k were sponsored locally in Alkalam University, Covenant University, Baze among many other private Universities; the criteria Kwankwaso put in place was, any candidate whose father is capable of sponsoring his child should be ruled out, children of poor are now one of the most educated in Kano.
In Jigawa state, Children of mostly poor from public schools who got 9 credits are invited for screening for foreign scholarship to study Medicine, Engineering and marine Engineering from 2007 to date the legacy is still kept intact. From 1999-2007, Jigawa has the highest number of IT experts in Nigeria, started School of Information Technology in 2001, first Galaxy internet in Nigeria in 2001 with thousands of poor children taken to Singapore and came and filled most Govt E-payment depts. Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto among many Northern states have done so for atleast a decade.
Irrespective of political manipulation, no part of Nigerian youths benefit immensely from elites as North!

These people will regret their actions after looming failure of 2023 election. I swear to almighty God, the biggest success of peter Obi is becoming 3rd in this coming election and a lot of damage has been done surreptitiously in the guise of ethno-religious bigotry. There is no magic, no permutation and no effort could make him President. One requires to have majority of votes and win 25% in at least 24 states before declared winner of Presidential election. With all these excessive bigotry I strongly believe the same majority of Christians in Adamawa, Taraba, Kebbi, Gombe and other parts of the North will still vote for Atiku than the bigot, Obi. After all these noise, Tinubu still get more chances than the rest; he only needs Northern APC states to keep atleast 50% voting bloc for him which is very possible with power of incumbency, money and influence of individuals across the states and maintain majority of votes with South-West.
The idiot, running forum based on ethno-religious sentiment need to know that States of Nigeria which are generally referred to as belonging to the Middle Belt are: old Plateau (now Plateau and Nasarawa), old Gongola (now Adamawa and Taraba), Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory, alongside Southern Kaduna, Southern Bauchi, Southern Kebbi, Southern Gombe, Southern Yobe State.

Why is it paining u?

Politics / S/east Gets Lion’s Share Of NEITI's Controversial Recruitment by ArewaNorth: 10:42am On Nov 21, 2022
The South East zone of the country got the highest share of allocation in the recent controversial recruitment of 70 new staff by the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Daily Trust investigation reveals.

NEITI is a Nigerian government agency with affiliation with the global Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

An analysis of the distribution indicates that Abia State got eight slots (the highest), half of which went to Arochukwu LGA where the current Executive Secretary, Ogbonnaya Orji, hails from.

A copy of the nominal roll of the agency, exclusively obtained by Daily Trust, also shows striking semblance in names on the new staff list, which indicate possible relationships between some of the recruits and NEITI’s management and board members.

Sources within and outside the transparency agency had alleged that some of the basic requirements for employment were not followed in the recruitment process, while others said through a highly discreet process, the agency hired dozens of relatives of government officials including those of some members of its board.

NEITI has, however, denied the allegations insisting it followed guidelines and obtained a waiver from the Federal Character Commission allowing it to recruit without advertising.

Both NEITI and FCC could not grant Daily Trust’s request to obtain a copy of the waiver.

However, a copy of the FCC’s guidelines for recruitment into the Federal Public Service seen by our reporter partly states: “MDAs shall ensure, and provide comprehensive job description (academic qualifications and cognate experience) required for each vacant position.

Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Dr Ogbonnaya Orji
While maintaining that “All vacancies shall be advertised in at least two newspapers circulating nationally, giving prospective candidates, a minimum of six weeks within which to apply, the guidelines further state: “The spread of all vacancies to be filled shall be predetermined in relation to the current levels of (Federal Character) representation, by states or zones, at a joint meeting of MDA and the FCC.”

The commission, which is empowered by law to monitor and ensure recruitment by government offices follow the law and maintain a spread across states and local government areas has admitted it issued a certificate of clearance and granted a waiver to NEITI not to advertise but critics and some accountability activists have accused it of compromise.

Some civil society organisations are demanding evidence of transparency in the recruitment process from NEITI and the FCC.

Taiwo Otitolaye, National Coordinator, Publish what you Pay, said: “A coalition of 150 civil society organisations, including ours, is demanding details of the recruitment from NEITI because the process is not clear to us.

Besides employing 70 staff in addition to 43 is quite large. Even the EITI international headquarters has less than 40 staff. This is a waste of public funds.”

A check on the website of the IETI shows that its international secretariat located in Oslo, Norway, currently has 5 management and 42 staff.

On the waiver granted by FCC, Otitolaye said: “The Commission has erred in its own rules. Did they also collect slots? You cannot give a waiver for the recruitment of 70 staff. Let us see the approval letters/waiver given to NEITI.”

Contacted, the Director of Public Affairs at the Federal Character Commission, Dr. Chuks Okoli, confirmed that a waiver was granted to NEITI but maintained that it does not amount to a licence to do whatever they like.

“It has to conform to our character balancing index, which emphasises the spread on a state-by-state basis,” he said while denying the alleged compromise of its recruitment rules for slots from NEITI.

On the conditions for granting a waiver, the FCC spokesperson said: “We grant a waiver if the number of staff to be recruited is high. This is to avoid a repeat of the kind of stampede that occurred at the Abuja National Stadium in 2014 during the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment exercise.”

He also listed other conditions including what he called ‘character balancing index’.

Inside story of recruitment

A peek into the current nominal roll of NEITI shows that with the recent recruitment of 70 staff who commenced their induction last week in Abuja, the agency currently has a staff strength of 113, which represents a 163 per cent increase in its hitherto 43 employees.

Analysis of the new recruits reveals that 21 are from the South East comprising Abia, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi states. Out of this number, eight were employed from Abia, the executive secretary’s home state.

The South-West zone has the second largest slots of eleven (11) employees followed by the South-South and North Central, with ten slots each. The North-West and North East got the least allocation of eight and seven slots respectively.

It was further observed that the five states of the South East with 21 recruits got more than the 13 states of the North-West and North-East combined with 15 recruits; a situation some aggrieved staff said showed a lack of balance.

Board members linked to recruits

Further scrutiny of the current recruitment list also shows a semblance of identity between some of the recruits and NEITI management and board members.

For instance, Gbekeleoluwa Toyobo, one of the recruits (Officer-II) from Lagos Mainland LGA of Lagos State is believed to be related to Bunmi Toyobo, a board member from Lagos.

Also, Taiye Deborah Adekunle, a female recruit from Kabba/Bunu in Kogi State (Officer-II) is believed to be linked to a former permanent secretary in the SGF’s office, Olusegun Adekunle, the current chairman of NEITl board.

Similarly, Santus Ejirinu Awowoh (Officer-II) from Obanliki LGA of Cross River State is believed to be related to Christian Awowoh, a board member from the same area of Cross River State.

In the same vein, NEITI’s current director of policy, planning, and strategy, Donald Tyoachimin, who headed the recruitment panel, is believed to be related to a female recruit, Erdoo Christabel Tyoachimin (Officer-II) who hails from Vandeikya, Benue State.

Although NEITI board chairman, Olusegun Adekunle, and the agency’s head of communications, Obiageli Onuorah, denied that slots were given out during the recruitment process, sources within NEITI confided in Daily Trust that the exercise has created bad blood within the agency, especially among board members and management staff that were ‘denied’ slots.

“People are aggrieved because this has not happened before. They are worried that the list of employees shows a concentration in a particular zone and state. The 16-member board has also played a questionable role,” said senior staff who wouldn’t want to be named for fear of victimisation. The source said since its establishment, this was the first time NEITI was conducting a recruitment exercise without advertising in newspapers.

Why we recruited– NEITI

Responding to the controversy that has trailed the exercise, NEITI said the recruitment was based on the manpower/capacity need assessment it conducted.

Obiageli Onuorah, head of communications, said: “The survey clearly disclosed the urgency for our agency to inject young graduates with requisite manpower and creative skills to drive our newly developed 5-year growth and strategic plan approved by our National Stakeholders Working Group (NEITI Board).

“The exercise also became necessary to enable NEITI adequately meet its national mandates as an agency of government, especially at this time of a new evolving extractive industries regime under the new legislation- the Petroleum Industries Act.

We also needed creative skills to help us expand our operations to sub-national governments at the state and local government levels. More is required of NEITI in advancing government reforms in the sector at the grassroots, especially in areas of blocking leakages and improving revenue generation,” Onuorah said.

Admitting that they did not advertise in national dailies, she said NEITI followed all guidelines of the transparent and competitive process; and secured all laid down approvals as required in the public service.

“Relevant agencies such as the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and the Federal Character Commission sent high-ranking officers who sat through during the competitive interview processes to observe the process.”

When contacted, the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Willie Bassey said: “I am not aware of the development as it has not been brought to my attention”.

Similarly, Mrs. Shade Boriowo, Director of Information in the Budget and National Planning Office could not comment on whether the letter from NEITI seeking financial clearance to enroll the new 70 staff on the IPPIS had been granted.

“The perm sec may be in a better position to answer you because I am personally unaware of this,” Bassey said.

Politics / Buhari To Officiate First Oil Drill In Northern Nigeria by ArewaNorth: 7:34pm On Nov 19, 2022
President Muhammadu Buhari will, on Tuesday, supervise the first oil drill in oil fields located in Bauchi and Gombe States.

The ground-breaking ceremony of the Kolmani Oil Prospecting Lease (OPL) 809 and 810 at the Kolmani field site will be the first oil drilling in Northern Nigeria.

Oil was discovered in commercial volume in the region about two years ago.

While Nigeria is already explore crude oil the southern Niger Delta, this exploration up north will be the first after an attempt in the Borno region was halted by insecurity.

NNPC Limited since 2016, launched a search for oil in some Northern states which led to the discovery of the oil in commercial quantity in Bauchi, Gombe, Borno and Niger States.

According to officials at NNPC Ltd, the oil field in Bauchi and Gombe axis will developed by Sterling Global Oil, New Nigeria Development Commission (NNDC) and NNPC Limited.

“The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, 22nd November and will be attended by Mr. President himself together with most of his cabinet members including the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva,” an official told Daily Trust.

NNPC Ltd has continually spent on frontier exploration as captured in its FAAC report.

With the new Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2022, funding for frontier exploration has risen to 30 per cent, which means the reformer NNPC Ltd would have more fund to develop oil fields in Nigeria.

At the moment, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) said crude oil reserve is at 37 billion barrels.

Reports said the Kolmani fields holds over a billion crude oil reserve, which could significantly raise Nigeria’s oil reserve that has not grown in 10 years.

The oil discovery in the north is coming at a time when crude oil production in the south has dropped to about 1.2 million barrels per day mainly due to oil theft and vandalism.

Oil production in the north could be a backup to shore up revenue for Nigeria as it witnesses huge budget deficit so far, experts say.

Many of the idiots were on Twitter accusing North before their own came out not knowing that it is more prevalent in their domain.
It easier for INEC to trace by just arresting the persons who registered the children in those particular polling units across the Nation.

All these seizure, arrests and attacks on BDC operators, I'm very sure if not because they're mostly Northerners only God knows the noise and conspiry allegations some would've been alleging on Govt but thank God the President comes from the same region with most of the oprators that is why we only hear praises not conspiracies and unlimited allegations!

The agent of APC the northern cabal's will attempt to kill MNK one week before 2023 election I want ndigbo to take this information very Siriusly and protect our brother MNK from this evil people.

They will do this to cause a very big problem to the South East so people will not come out to vote.

This is Sirius I will give more information as soo as my agent give it to me.

When I remember the insults, conspiracies, aspersions and unpatriotic words Kanu used to say about my religion, tribe and region without minding the larger portion of the population that are good, tolerant, educated, humble and civilized all to achieve treacherous goals I pity not him. He orchestrated lots of ethno-religious killings against Northern traders and travellers and bring chaos in a zone known as one of the most peaceful in Nigeria. His careless words in Radio Biafra especially before and during Endsars protest proved how poorly equiped he is in such struggle.
I don't at all pity him and I put him in the same class as Shekau, Muhammad Yusif, Bello Turji among other high profile criminals.
