Ubeji Youth and Employment Development in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has imposed 40 strokes of cane punishment on any girl found dressing indecently in the community. Secretary of the body, Stanley Bomele, who spoke to newsmen said the youths have embarked on an exercise tagged, “War Against Indecent Dressing,” among young ladies in the area. Bomele, who said the exercise became necessary due to the provocative ways ladies dressed in the community, announced the banning of the wearing of miniskirts, bum shorts or tight (bikers shorts). He warned that such wears would no longer be tolerated as indecent dressing had been the major cause of assaults and sexual harassment in the community He opined that most of the girls had gone haywire in the name of fashion with some of them going about almost naked, saying the development was irritating and did not tell well of the community. He said the exercise would continue till the young girls in the community learn how to dress decently and properly. https://dailytrust.com/indecent-dressing-community-imposes-40-strokes-for-offenders-n10000-fines/ |

Qadaffi2idiamin:You can engage in constructive talk. Those who died are bigots who resist what they'd shouldn't resist. They took the path of violent resistance of the widely acceptable view of the society and engaged them using weapons. The greatest disgrace in Nigeria was the resistance of Shari'a by those who don't have anything to do with it. How could u feel if Muslims asked Govt not to recognize any of your religious right? I wasted my time engaging a bloodline of daft people who delusionally believe in what you just came up with. |
Bayero University has won a prestigious prize of the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) in a keenly contested competition to beat University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Portharcourt and University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). A ten member Bayero University team under the leadership of Professor Rufai Ibrahim, Director, Directorate of Research, Innovation and Partnership (DRIP), beat five other universities to win an interactive SMART board, the grand prize of a fierce competition, at the end of a six-day training by the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) in Lagos. The competition, which was organized by NHEF required each team to make a 10-minute multimedia summary presentation of the five-day training it conducted, using a SMART board they were trained on in five slides. The training, which featured ten faculty members from six NHEF partner universities, was from 5th to the 8th of July 2023, and it took place at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. The objective of the training was to inculcate key skills and knowledge to strengthen staff capacity in the areas of Grant Writing, Advancement Programs, Critical Thinking in the Classroom, Modern Day Teaching Practices, and Technology adoption/Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom. It was also to facilitate collaboration, networking and idea-sharing among faculty members from the various universities, thus sparking same with other universities outside the circle. The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) was founded by the MacArthur Foundation in 2004 but is now being funded by the Kuramo Capital Management and consortium of 21 partners. NHEF also conducts a parallel training for 10 students each from the six universities going into their final year, for the purpose of sponsorship, mentoring, coaching and job placement on graduation. Other members of the BUK winning team included: Prof. Haruna Musa, Director, Academic Planning; Associate Prof., Abubakar Isah Umar, Dean Faculty of Law; Dr. Muhammad Adamu Kwankwaso, HOD Education; Associate Prof., Salisu Abubakar Maiwada, Dep. Guyman01:. To prove if he is a one man organization go and check the history of his influence on Northern Governors that paved way for Tinubun Presidency. His meeting with El Rufai prior to APC primary election is a game changer and will remain in the book of history forever... |
ecolime:You omitted CAN leaders, Rev. Kuka and many pastors saying rubbish and instigating bigotry weekly on pulpits and descend on a man who is fighting for a good course. Prof. Akintola is single handedly the man behind the the primary election votes and support Tinubun got from Northern Governors headed by El Rufai to break the good course he has been fighting for the right of the marginalized... |
Qadaffi2idiamin:Don't portray ur ignorance on things u don't know. Nigerian constitution gives State rights to make laws that fit their culture and traditions. Your bigotry is too deep that u can't see the reality of it. North (12 States) are predominantly Muslims and decided to adopt Shari'a system which is the general acceptability of the populace, however, the South, the christian majority North and some parts of Kaduna who are mostly Christians adopted Customary system. The main point here is, Christianity do not have enough jurisdiction to adopt christian justice system unlike Muslims and believe me Muslims would be happy if Christians would adopt that system because it may have more sanity than what u adopted. Go and make little research about the Shari'a justice and see the vast provisions of laws that touch almost all aspects of our life. Remember, Shari'a system isn't compulsory for Muslims to be tried in, if one don't like to be tried in Shari'ah court he may opt to go for magistrate court or any other conventional court and non-Muslims aren't allowed to be tried in Shari'ah court except with their consent. |

kettykings:It is on record that Abuja-Kaduna rail generates N500m monthly after deploying e-ticketing and believe me if Lagos-Ibadan and Warri-Itakpe will get the same system Nigeria will generate not less than N3b from Railway services monthly and is more comfortable compared to road transport. You guys need to commend good things! |

Gajagojo:Is it not in Nigeria that somebody created a social media platform but ethno-religious bigotry made some people blackmailed the app and got it delisted from Google store? The same people always do this when they don't like a person, the hate is out of this planet! |

jmoore:New solar cell production plant to boost power supply in Nigeria The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, officially performed the foundation laying ceremony of the first Solar Cell Production Plant in Nigeria. The project is being built on a 15.8 hectres of land in Karu Local Council, Nasarawa State, consisting of more than 30,000 modules. The plant, when fully operational, will be one of the largest Solar Cell Production plants in Africa. The Managing Director, NASENI Solar Energy Ltd, Dr. Mahmud Jaffar said: “The prices of solar panels in Nigeria will crash once the NASENI plant comes on stream. Nigeria will go into 100 per cent local content manufacturing of solar panels and other electronic materials.” https://guardian.ng/business-services/new-solar-cell-production-plant-to-boost-power-supply-in-nigeria/ I hope this one succeed and you know production cost is no longer in favour of Nigerians purchasing power. |
misano:FG, is left for them to find the right formula! |
misano:Yes, FG must pay back the debt because NNPCL is no longer what it used to be, it is now a commercial entity under Govt. The easiest thing FG can do is to negotiate profits remittances of NNPCL to FG so that NNPCL can withhold a significant portion of what they should be remitting to FG over a period of time untill FG pays back the debt! |
advanceDNA:Who are the Govt? Aren't we? We voted them, we are workers in different capacity of govt, our children, brothers, sisters, Nigerians are the ones threatening us with the insecurity all over then who should we blame? We all have hands in what is happening and we need to do a lot of things to change some things to positive rather than always complaining! |
Believeintruth:If a crude oil is sold at $100/barrel then Nigeria can negotiate a swap of let say 60m barrel of crude oil for 150m barrel of refined Petroleum Products of equivalent monetary value of the crude oil. Market price will determine how it should be swapped, I'm not defending the figure but expatiating how it was done. It is the media analysis or reportage that you read but u need to watch the interview Mele Kyari tendered instead of reading misleading headlines. Media houses are just reporting things to mislead public or just to generate traffic! |
advanceDNA:Hate and emotionally controlled opinions can't give facts to verdict like this. This is fact and need to be clarified! |
misano:FG since they subsidized what they shouldn't which is tagged scam. With the current PMS price it is now clear wether there was subsidy or not! |
advanceDNA: Flets: taylor89:It is unfortunate how you can't understand a simple statement but rushed to comment in ignorance. Crude Swap Arrangement gave NNPCL the crude equivalent worth of the refined products they used to import within the period he mentioned and NNPCL was sole importer of the PMS thereby distributing it to marketers at subsidized rate, federal government still owes the firm the sum of N2. 8 trillion spent on petrol subsidy between 2016 and May this year that is why NNPCL couldn't make reasonable profits since commercializing it by PIA due to the subsidy being finaced by the company not FG. |
