The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, has been impeached.

Following his impeachment on Monday morning by 19 Honourable Members, the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, has been replaced by Hon. Kennedy Ibeh.

Hon. Kennedy Ibeh is the lawmaker representing Obowo State Constituency in the House.

The Police intelligence operatives have arrested a dismissed Police Corporal, who promoted himself to Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, specialized in obtaining money and using Nigeria Police College, Ikeja to recruit Spy Police officers in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the dismissed officer, Ilesami Abiodun Alexander, was apprehended at the Police College after he obtained N385,000 from one Samuel Borhie under the false pretence of training him to become a Spy Police officer.

However, he ran out of luck, was arrested and handed over to the Police at Ikeja Division for interrogation over his conduct.

During interrogation, the Police discovered that he was dismissed in 2010 but he promoted himself and was embarking on illegally recruitment of Spy Police officers before he was arrested.

Having been found culpable, he was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for obtaining under false pretence and impersonation.

Two married women, Chisom Anuibueze and Nkiru Ugwu, have engaged in a public fight after Chisom allegedly accused Nkiru of teaching her prostitution after killing her child in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Akpumoje Street in Ago, Okota area of Lagos, where they reside.

The allegation about prostitution was said to have angered Nkiru, who went to the Police at Ago Division and reported for Chisom to come and prove how she killed her child and taught her prostitution.

Chisom was arrested and detained at the Police Station for interrogation to prove her allegations but she was unable to do so.

It was gathered that both women were close friends, did many things together before the relationship broke up and they started revealing their secrets in public.

It was in such public fight that Chisom threw allegation at Nkiru, who did not take it lightly and reported to the Police.

After interrogation, the Police found her culpable and later charged Chisom before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for false allegation.

She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Simeon Njue, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.S. Okubule, granted Chisom bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

However, Chisom was remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till 10th November, 2021, for mention.

Police operatives from Ipaja Division in Lagos have rescued two children reportedly locked inside an empty water drum by their father for eating a neighbour’s food having been starved and locked inside the house for the whole day.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Lawani Ode Palace, Oke Odo area of New London Estate, Baruwa, Ipaja, where the father, Martins Omotoyosi, resides with the two victims, Dorca, 8 and Oreofe 6.

The suspect, Martins Omotoyosi, who is now in Police net, was said to have been married to the victims’ mother, who left seven years ago over constant beating and he started living with them.

However, he reportedly transferred the beating habit to the victims and was said to have constantly tortured them before they were eventually rescued.

This was confirmed by the residents, who narrated what happened when P.M.EXPRESS reporter visited the area and explained that it was not the first time Martins was torturing the victims.

One of the residents and Baale’s representative, Shakiru Lawal, stated he received a call that the suspect, Martin Omotoyosi, was torturing the victims as he used to do but have gone beyond that by putting them inside a drum in order to kill them.

A civil servant, Mrs. Gloria Jonathan, has asked the Customary Court, Abuja Division, to dissolve her childless marriage to her to estranged husband, Onyeka Jonathan, because she was fed up with it.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the embattled Gloria informed the Court that the marriage was fruitless because it did not produce any child stating it was better for them to go their separate ways.

Her husband, Mr. Jonathan, on Thursday dragged Gloria before a Customary Court in Jikwoyi, Abuja, to seek divorce over alleged attempt to kill him.

The petitioner, who resides in Jikwoyi, on the outskirts of the FCT, stated this in the divorce suit he filed against his wife before the Court.

“I can’t continue to live under the same roof with this woman, she wants to kill me. There was a little misunderstanding between us, she ran to the kitchen and picked up a knife to stab me but luckily I escaped.”

“I had to scale the fence in order to escape from her. I beg this honourable Court to put an end to the marriage between me and my wife, before she kills me,” he said.

The petitioner also narrated to the Court how his wife had told him that she belonged to an evil spirit and that the spirit often controlled her.

The respondent, Mrs. Gloria, in her defence, denied all the allegations, but prayed the Court to dissolve the marriage.

She said, “I am fed up with this fruitless marriage, I am treated with disdain because I am barren”.

The Presiding Judge, Labaran Gusau, adjourned the matter until 29th September 2021, for judgment.

A 65-year old man, Aremu Akinlagun, has been arrested in Lagos for allegedly attempting to kill a woman, Maria Usman, after he received N8m for her land.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Odogbolu Street, Ayanwale area of Ikotun, where Akinlagun resides.

It was gathered that the victim, Maria Usman, had asked the suspect, Akinlagun, to help sell her parcel of her land located in the area for the said amount and remit the money to her account.

However, after he sold the land, he asked her to come to her house to collect the money not knowing he had another motive for not depositing the money into her account.

When she got to his house, he attacked her violently with the aim to kill her so that he will not give her the money for her land.

But the victim managed to escape and went to Area M Command, Idimu to report what happened. Thus, Akinlagun was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over his conduct.

After thorough interrogation and having been found culpable, he was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for attempted murder and stealing.

Police operatives from the Isheri Oshun Division, Lagos State Command, have arrested four armed masquerades, who allegedly invaded the home of a popular socialite and an estate guru, Alhaji Taoreed Farounbi, popularly known Baba Alado, to assassinate him before he was rescued in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 10th September, 2021, at his palatial home in Isheri Oshun area of Lagos.

Four of the masquerades were arrested and when the Police removed the masks, it was discovered that the suspects were linked to a rival group fighting Alado, namely Taofeek Jimoh, 42, Hassan Rafiu, 21, Lanre Adeogun, 29 and Sulaimon Musibau, 27.

They were alleged to have disguised as masquerades and mobilized over 500 other masquerades, who were said to be from a cult group, known as Ajeran, to Baba Alado home with arms and other dangerous weapons.

They were said to have invaded the place with cutlasses and were looking for Alado. When they did not find him, they attacked and stabbed two of his aides, Abiodun Oyepiju and Jammu Opukutu, who are now lying critically ill at an undisclosed hospital.

The Police at Isheri Oshun Division raced to the scene and when they could not repel the crowd, the DPO mobilized officers from Area M Command, Idimu and State Command and repelled them.

The four suspects, after interrogation, have been charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conspiracy and assault on the victims.

They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for trial to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. E.O. Ogunkanmi, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

They were remanded in custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 28th October, 2021, for mention.

A 33-year old housewife, Mrs. Adeola Moshood, is now lying critical ill at Gbagada General Hospital in Lagos after her husband’s mistress, Precious Ahanonu, reportedly attacked and poured hot water on her after the woman allegedly caught her with the husband.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Okerube in Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos, where they reside.

The Police at Ikotun Division have arrested Precious and transferred her to the SCID, Panti, Yaba area of Lagos for the dastardly act, where she is facing charge of attempted murder and serious assault for attacking the woman over suspicion that the woman was an obstacle for her keep the man.

The woman’s husband, Aremu Moshood, who is supposedly the cause of the dirty fight between his wife and the mistress, opened a fish pond and employed Precious to manage it.

However, along the line, the husband started sleeping with Precious to the extent that he rented one bedroom and parlour self-contained apartment for her without the knowledge of his wife, where Aremu usually visits Precious secretly.

Later, when Aremu’s business crumbled and he was unable to pay house rent where he lived with his wife and three children at Ikotun/Igando Road, his landlord threw him out of the flat.

He then took his wife and children to the place he had rented for Precious, for them to live temporarily until when he will get another apartment. It was while they were living there that the wife discovered that her husband was sleeping with Precious and he was even the person that was paying the house rent.

The issue caused constant quarrels between Precious and Mrs. Adeola to the extent that on the fateful day, Precious boiled water and poured it on Mrs. Adeola’s body while she was sleeping around 1.00am.

She was seriously injured and was rushed to the hospital, where she is being treated.

When P. M. EXPRESS reporter visited their house at Okerube Street, the residents, who were still shocked over the act, told the reporter that her husband went to the hospital, where the wife is being treated.

At the Ikotun Police Station, where the matter was first reported, the DPO was said to have gone to the State Command for the CP’s briefing with the senior Police officers.

The Police sources, who confirmed the incident, referred P. M. EXPRESS reporter to the SCID, Panti, Yaba, where the matter was transferred for further investigation and Precious is currently undergoing interrogation over her action.
