One of the notorious cult leaders terrorizing Ikorodu and its environs, Mukaila, a.k.a “Actor”, has been arrested by Police operatives from the Tactical Unit of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos.

According to the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Hauwa Idris-Adamu, the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2, AIG Ahmed lliyasu, due to the rise in nefarious cult activities in the Ikorodu axis of Lagos State, ordered operatives from the Tactical Units of the Zone to gather intelligence that could lead to the apprehension of the cult leaders and members terrorizing members of the public.

According to the statement, “It would be recalled that during the Presidential order for lockdown in Lagos State, Ogun State and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, some criminal elements took the advantage of that for their criminal activities, thereby terrorizing, robbing, and molesting members of the public”.

“The AIG then ordered for the arrest of the cult leaders. This led to the gathering of information about a suspected cult leader, Mukaila, who had been accused of terrorizing some communities like Maya, Itele, Igode and Adamo areas of Ikorodu, Lagos.”

“The AIG dispatched a team of operatives attached to Zonal Monitoring Unit with intelligence to the area affected; they stormed the house and hideout of the said Mukaila and arrested him.”

“Some of the items recovered from him are one pump action gun, fifty-five live cartridges, one locally made axe and assorted charms while one of his boys was arrested.”

According to the ZPPRO, investigation is in progress and actions being expedited to arrest fleeing suspects.

The AIG said the suspects will be charged to Court upon completion of investigation.

Justice may have finally come the way of a 76-year old woman, Mrs. Jolasun Okesanya, who was allegedly strangled by her son’s driver, Olalekan Hammed, in cold blood in Surulere area of Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that an Ikeja High Court, Lagos, sentenced the driver, Hameed, to death by hanging for the December 1, 2018, murder of Mrs. Okunsanya, the mother of his employer, Adetayo.

Justice Mojisola Dada, who presided over the case in Court, delivered the judgment in Lagos State during Judiciary’s maiden virtual Court session.

The virtual Court sessions were approved by Chief Judge, Justice Kazeem Alogba, in line with the Lagos State Judiciary Remote Hearing of Cases COVID-19 Pandemic Period Practice Direction.

The Court session for the charge marked ID/9006C/2019 was held online via a video app Zoom. It began at 11am and ended before 2pm.
The judge, defendant, his team of counsel, the prosecution team led by Lagos State Solicitor-General, Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey, and all witnesses participated in the session remotely from different locations via the Zoom app.

The principal suspect, Hameed, was arraigned on March 6, 2019, on a two-count charge of murder and stealing. He allegedly committed the offences at about 12:30pm at plot 83, Owukori Crescent, Estate, Surulere, Lagos.
He had pleaded not guilty, hence the trial commenced.

The prosecution called several witnesses and tendered exhibits including the Coroner’s report, stolen N97,500 and $117 recovered from the convict, his confessional statement, among others.

“The only money I took was N1,000, any other money I don’t know about it. I did not kill Mrs. Jolaso Ogunsanya” the convict had told the judge during the trial.

In her judgment, Justice Dada noted that prosecution witnesses testimonies that Hakeem was the only one with the deceased at the time of her death and he was also seen scaling the fence of the deceased’s building afterwards, among others, were not disproved.

She said: “It is also an established fact that although the defendant went to the house to steal, the surprise of the deceased stumbling upon him led him to not just pushing the deceased but actually strangulating her in a bid to keep her from crying out”.

“The case is clear… I have not found any contradiction with the evidence of the prosecution witness that can be deemed material or weighty enough to cast any doubt on the prosecution against the defendant. The facts of the case are incompatible with the innocence of the defendant but rather his guilt on the two counts.”

“The defendant is hereby found guilty of this count two of murder and is hereby convicted as charged and accordingly sentenced to death.
“The sentence of this Court upon you, Olalekan Hameed, is that you be hanged by the neck until you be pronounced dead and may the Lord have mercy upon your soul. This is the virtual judgment of the Court.”

Top members of the Judiciary and Ministry of Justice also participated in the proceedings virtually.

Justice Dada conducted proceedings from High Court 10, Ikeja, the defendant Hameed was at Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre, Apapa while the counsels were at different locations.
Judicial Officers including Justice Alogba, Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye, Justice Josephine Oyefeso, Justice Sherifat Solebo, Justice Afeez Dabiri, Justice Roli Harriman, amongst others, also participated.

Participants from the bar included the State’s Attorney-General & Minister of Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), the prosecutor, Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey, and some senior lawyers like Funke Adekoya, SAN, Tayo Oyetibo, SAN, Olukayode Enitan, SAN, amongst others.

A 30-year old man, Chinedu Obinma, who was formerly a painter, has admitted that he was a robber and gave reasons he chose robbery as a means to survive in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Obinma, was arrested by Police operatives from Ejigbo Division after he robbed a woman, who was selling hot drinks; carted away her phone and transferred all her money about N230, 000 to another bank account before he was caught.

The suspect reportedly told the Police that he was a painter but when the business was not flourishing, he abandoned it and moved into robbery and there were changes in his life.

He said he hails from Anambra State but came to Lagos some years back and tried to make a living as a painter. When he was not getting enough to take care of himself, he joined robbery.

According to the residents, the suspect, Obinma, said that he had engaged in several robbery operations without the use of arms but deployed tricks to steal people’s personal items and escape.

Obinma had always succeeded until he came from Cele area of Okota to Ejigbo area of Lagos when he went to a woman and bought a drink. He gave the woman N1000 for N100 worth of drink. When the woman went to look for change, he stole her phone and gave it to his accomplice who quickly used the woman’s phone to transfer her money to another account.

However, he was eventually caught after the woman looked for her phone, raised alarm and held him. Her neighbours attempted to mob him before the Police rescued him and took him to the station for interrogation.

When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited Ejigbo Police Division to get comments from the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, over the matter, she was said to have gone out for monitoring in the area.

However, Police sources confirmed the arrest of the suspect, Obinma and said he will be charged to Court after the conclusion of investigation.

A 28-year old lady, Mrs. Ifeoluwa Fehintola, has allegedly murdered her mother, Ruth Shodeya, after she reportedly caught her having sex with her husband on their matrimonial bed.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in a community in Owode Ede, Osun State, where the daughter lives with her husband.

The 44-year old mother, Ruth, was said to have visited her daughter for two weeks and in the process seduced her husband and they engagedin sex romp. While they were still in the act, the daughter, who went to the market, returned and met them. She then took a kitchen knife and stabbed her mother. She was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to the hospital but before then she was already dead; the doctors confirmed her dead and the corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy report.

The matter was reported to the Police, Mrs. Ifeoluwa Fehintola was arrested and detained for interrogation. She has admitted that she killed her.She further stated, “My mother has been like that since we were small; she goes around with different men. Even when my father was alive, she cheats on him. After my father’s death, she got so balanced with her wayward life that there no man she can’t allow to sleep with her”.”I couldn’t imagine that she will stoop so low to the level of my husband. She only came to spend two weeks with us and she has already shattered my home for me.

I went to the market to buy some food items but before I could get back home I met my husband and my mother on our matrimonial bed. I was so furious that I went straight to the kitchen to reach for a knife. I had wanted to killed the both of them; my husband managed to escape but my mother couldn’t as I stabbed her on the chest” Ifeoluwa said.

The suspect is currently in Police custody and the Police said she may likely be charged for murder which attracts life imprisonment if she is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence.

A young driver of a Lexus SUV, identified as Mr. Aaron B. Nnamdi, embraced his untimely death in early hours of Saturday, as he collided with a Mercedes Benz 911 along the Onitsha—Nteje Expressway, Anambra State.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Sector Command, R.C. Pascal A. Anigbo.

According to him, the fatal road crash, which took place about 1.5 km away from the Nteje Unit Command of the FRSC, occurred at about 2am today, 2nd May, 2020, and could be attributed to wrong overtaking.

He said the crash involved a Lexus RX330 SUV with registration number GGE339FU and a Mercedes Benz 911 with registration number XA588ENU and occurred as the Lexus driver attempted to overtake the 911 driver who rather refused to give way, thus resulting to the collision.

The statement reads in part: “At about 2.00am today 2nd May, 2020, a fatal road traffic crash was recorded along Onitsha-Nteje Expressway, about 1.5 km from the Nteje Unit Command of the FRSC”.

“The fatal crash involved a Lexus RX330 SUV with registration number GGE339FU driven by one Aaron B. Nnamdi (m), who also lost his life in the crash and a Mercedes Benz 911 with registration number XA588ENU driven by one Mr. Tony Nwawoukwu.”

“The cause of the crash can be attributed to speeding and wrongful overtaking. The dead victim was taken to Wisdom Funeral Mortuary Nteje. Personnel of the FRSC and NPF are on ground managing the situation, controlling traffic and clearing of obstruction caused. The vehicles are being towed to the Police Station, for further investigation.”

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, advises all road users and motorists to shun night travels, especially in this period of COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with government directives on prohibition night travels (8pm-6am).”

“He sends his condolences to the family of the dead and admonishes drivers to always drive defensively as most road traffic crashes are avoidable.”

Police operatives in Lagos have uncovered a house where a 26-year old single mother, Miss Blessing Okite, camps female and male sex workers for a fee of N500.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the activities took place at Imodo compound, Ejigbo area of Lagos, where the lady, Blessing, resides with her 8-year old daughter.

Police intelligence officers at Ejigbo Division led by CSP Olabisi Okuwobi received information that the suspect, Blessing, was using her rented room and parlour apartment for women and men who wanted to have sex among themselves for a fee.

She was said to be making money from the business by collecting commission for each sex romp from both homosexuals and lesbians before the Police received information and busted the place.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the information leaked after the residents observed the dastardly act going by the influx of men and women both during the day and at night and then informed the Police who acted promptly.

The Police were said to have stormed the place at about 1.30am and caught some men and a pregnant lady, who were also harboured in the apartment and were smoking hard drugs suspected to be Indian hemp.

During interrogation, Blessing admitted that she was into the business and her involvement was to collect her commission, allow the partners to have sex in her apartment and leave.

She reportedly told the Police that she hails from Arochukwu in Abia State and came to Lagos some years back before she started the business.

When she was caught, she revealed that she came to Lagos and opened a brothel at Agbole area before it was demolished by the Ejigbo Local Government and she then started using her apartment for the business.

The residents told the Police that they do want the suspect, Blessing, in the area again because she was using the dirty business to bring robbers, who use her base as take off point and return after operations.

According residents, Blessing was bringing all manners of people especially men, who come to her apartment with other men for sex romp and constantly exposed the area to danger.

When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited the Police Division in Ejigbo, the DPO was said to have gone out for routine monitoring of the area.

However, Police sources confirmed the arrest of Blessing and some of the residents of Imodo compound were at the Police Station to bear witness over the activities of Blessing in the area.

Police sources said that the Police may likely shut the place and ask her to relocate elsewhere as the residents were insisting that they do not want her in their area.

She may also be charged before the Court for running a brothel which is a criminal offence under the State laws.

The security synergy established by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, among the officers at Divisions and Commands seem to be working following the arrest of wanted notorious armed bandit, Wahab Lawal, popularly known as Lordstime in the criminal world.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Lawal, who was arrested with one of his members, Seun Adeniyi, led a violent operation in Idimu some days back which led to the death of a victim while he escaped and went into hiding.

However, Lawal did not hide for long time before the unit of Police Intelligence in Ejigbo Division led by the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, apprehended him at Mafor area of Ejigbo and handed them over to the Idimu Police Division for the case of murder.

During the arrest, the Police also recovered a long specialized axe, which Lawal used to kill people during operations. It was also handed over to the Idimu DPO, CSP Adora Dimaka as exhibit.

In the course of preliminary investigation, Lawal was said to have made confessional statement and mentioned his leader and spiritual head, known as Emir, and one other member and they were also arrested and detained at the Idimu Station for conspiracy and murder.

The arrest of the suspects caused wild jubilation in both Idimu and Ejigbo because the criminal gang was known in both areas before they were arrested.

When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited Idimu Police Division, the suspects were said to have been transferred to SCIID Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for further investigation over their criminal conducts in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects and others in the areas, then promised to give details of their activities with other criminal elements also arrested in the State.

The suspects may be charged before the Court for armed robbery and murder if the Police at SCIID Unit find them culpable and may be jailed for life if they are found guilty in Court.

Police operatives from Idimu Division in Lagos have arrested one Rasaq Babalola while his wife identified as Mama Raheem fled after they allegedly conspired and paid assassins to eliminate his neighbour, Emeka Anozie, over Covid-19 palliative during the current lockdown.

P.M EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Agbo Komolafe Street, Unity Estate, Idimu area of Egbeda, Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect, Rasaq, has been arrested and detained at the Police Station while efforts were being made to arrest his wife, who he said fled after the plot was foiled and the assassins had escaped.

Trouble was said to have started after the victim, Emeka Anozie, engaged the services of a chef to cook food in order to share to people in their neighborhood as palliative during the current lockdown.The couple was said not to be happy over the benevolence to the people and attempted to stop Anozie but he ignored them. He went on, cooked the food and shared to the people around.

According to Anozie, later after the incident, Rasaq’s children were disturbing in the compound throwing stones at his window and he went to their mother to ask her to control their children since they were living upstairs in order not to destroy things in his apartment. The woman flared up and threatened to deal with him.

Anozie said the next day, some armed men, about 14 of them, invaded his apartment, beat him to stupor, collected his phones, then brought him out to take him away with their waiting Toyota car before people in their neighbourhood frustrated them and they escaped.

Mr. Anozie then rushed to the Police in the pool of blood and he was referred to the hospital, where he was being treated when he received information that armed men in Military uniforms invaded his apartment looking for him in order to eliminate him.

However, when they did not see him, they attacked two of his younger brothers, destroyed his two televisions, other properties inside, looted his safe containing huge sums of money and escaped. He said that the operation was led by both Rasaq and his wife now at large.

When Rasaq was contacted, he admitted that he hired assassins including the armed soldiers to attack Mr. Anozie and blamed everything on his wife and in-laws, who he said arranged the whole thing.

It was gathered that it was not the first time such had been done on the tenants, who had lived in the house in the past, before the current incident happened.

This is not the best of times for the Lagos State Police Command despite their efforts to decongest the various detention facilities at SCIID Panti, Yaba, Lagos, due to the lockdown occasioned by Covid-19.

P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that the SCIID cells had been filled to full capacity and the Police authorities seem to be in dilemma on what to do with suspects being transferred to them from various Area Commands and Divisions almost on daily basis.

It was gathered that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, had earlier directed that the Police should grant bail on minor offences and serious offences like armed robbery, murder and others should be transferred to SCIID for further investigation and prosecution.The various Commands and Divisions have been doing so diligently but it has worsened the congestion of the cells at Panti for now.The ugly situation was even made worse because the various Courts in the State were shut due to the stay at home order contain the spread of Coronavirus and suspects cannot be taken to Court for prosecution and remand in prison.

It was also gathered that the Police authorities have taken short time measures to decongest the cells by transferring suspects to nearby Divisions around the SCIID, which will not take long before those cells will filled to its capacity.
Some of the residents, who knew the situation at SCIID, said that it was better for the Police Command to liaise with the Judiciary for possible arraignment of suspects and remand in prison custody to avoid another epidemic which will even affect Police officers at SCIID.

How the situation will be remedied was yet known as the Divisions and Commands have continued to arrest suspects who committed serious offences and transferred them to SCIID Panti. It might likely lead to rejection of suspects by SCIID from the Divisions and Commands, which will in turn necessitate releasing the suspects back to the society if there is no space to keep them.

When P.M.EXPRESS contacted the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, over the Police plan on the crowded SCIID, his phone did not ring and was not available.

The dreaded criminal gang known as ‘One Million Boys’ has suffered serious set back after they had mobilized to rob the residents of Olugbade in the Egbeda area of Lagos and were smashed by the Police operatives led by a female DPO on Saturday.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives from Idimu Division under Area M Command, Lagos, led by a female DPO, CSP Adaora Dimaka, engaged the dreaded gang in a fierce battle and arrested 8 of the suspects during operations in the area.

According to the residents, the bandits informed them through a letter they reportedly pasted on the walls that they were coming that day. The Police were duly informed and they mobilized to the area. Unknown to the bandits that the Police and the residents were ready for them, about 20 members of the gang invaded Olugbade Community in Egbeda area of Lagos at about 2pm and started robbing people of their valuables claiming to be ‘One Million Boys’.
However, they suffered terribly after the DPO, Dimaka, received information and immediately led her officers to the scene. The operatives dislodged the gang and arrested some suspects while others escaped and now at large.

The operation carried out by the Police caused wild jubilation in the area which attracted the attention of P.M.EXPRESS correspondent, who then visited the area and confirmed the arrest.The identities of the suspects arrested were yet to be disclosed by the Police because of the sensitive nature of the incident and other suspects now at large.

However, the suspects were detained at Idimu Division and were said to be undergoing interrogation and some substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered as exhibits.
When P.M.EXPRESS visited Idimu Division, the DPO, Adaora Dimaka, was said to have led a Police team for monitoring in the area.Police sources at the Station confirmed the arrest and said that the suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, SCIID Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for further investigation.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, had earlier warned that there is no space for criminal elements to operate in Lagos and had directed both the Area Commands and DPOs to fish out any criminal element in their area and ensure protection of lives and property despite the lockdown over the Coronavirus pandemic.

This is not the best of times for commercial sex workers in Lagos owing to the lockdown occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic and the fact that the Minister of Health had stated that the deadly virus could be transmitted sexually.

P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that virtually all the brothels and hotels had practically been shut across the State. The workers were either indoors in the hotel rooms doing nothing or waiting in vain for clients to patronize them.

Some of the brothels visited in Mushin, Agege, Igando, Ikotun, Ejigbo and Isolo, Akowonjo etc were deserted without customers coming to the place to drink and patronize the workers.
Some of the workers have relocated to join their friends and relatives in order to reduce the pile of debts incurred for renting their rooms from the management to save cost.

Few of the workers, who were seen at the various hotels, were lamenting over the ugly situations they found themselves since the stay at home directive over Coronavirus took effect.

One of the workers, simply identified as Maureen in Idimu, told P.M.EXPRESS that their initial thought was that the lockdown will last for few days before they continue rendering full services but regretted that it has dragged too long and their targets for the year will be greatly affected.

Maureen explained that the situation became worse as some men have chosen to shun sex at this period; nobody comes to patronize them even on short time basis and the bills are pilling up for some of the workers who had been waiting for normal businesses to resume to no avail.

Another worker, Miss Joy, said that what surprised her the most was that there were some clients who usually come to ask for sex on credit from them promising to pay when things get normal. She lamented that even their prominent patrons do not show up again and they were finding it difficult to feed and maintain themselves.

“Now, I have realised that this business will not sustain me to take care of my family. I will quit after the lockdown” Joy said.

P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that most men stopped patronising those places due to fear of contracting the virus while some withdrew due to lack of money to spend at this period.

It was equally gathered that some married men have used the lockdown to reconcile with their spouses in their various homes and there was no need to go outside for such practices for now.

Residents of different communities in Lagos are now in panic mood after the dreaded One Million Boys wrote letters of their intending robbery operations and demanded that residents should keep money for them or be prepared to lose their hands.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that in the letter addressed to Lagos residents, they emphatically stated that they were coming for robbery operations and that the residents should keep money for them and failure to do so will attract cutting off defaulters hands as punishment for not having money.

In their letter captioned Alert! Alert!! Alert!!! the robbers stated, “We the undefeated One Million Boys will visit your area soon. Keep money for us and if you fail to do so, we will cut off your hands during the operations”.

The warning has really instilled fear in residents, who had known how the dreaded bandits, One Million Boys operated in the past. The robbers may have tested the ground following the recent operations they carried out some days ago in various part of Lagos.

Some of the areas the gang numbering hundreds with assorted weapons attacked included Agege, Dopemu, Orisumbare, Idimu, Ejigbo, Ikotun, Isheri Oshun before they moved down to Orile, Mazamaza, Ojo and Ajegunle.

Following the rampage of the gang, the residents had tried to put up resistance by mobilising the youths in the areas with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons and setting up fire on the streets while keeping vigil throughout the nights.

The residents of Ejigbo in Isolo Local Government Area were not exempted as they formed resistance groups on the streets and with the support of the Police they were able to repel the terror and dominance of the notorious One Million Boys, who had been causing havoc in different LGAs in Lagos State.

The notorious group, which was said to have its origin in Ajegunle, has been responsible for large scale attacks on civilians living in Lagos State; armed robbery, rape, kidnapping and killings at extreme cases were the ways through which they spread terror in the state.

It was also reported that before the group begins its operation in any LGA, it send letters informing them of their imminent attack. The aim of the letter is to instill fear in the residents of the areas and because of their numbers, it usually difficult to resist them.

Some of the residents, who spoke to P.M.EXRESS, expressed their fear over the letter and the threat of cutting of hands despite the facts that many have exhausted their monies due to the lockdown over Coronavirus for several weeks now.

They appealed to the Police not to take the letter and warning for granted because they had done similar thing in Badagry area of Lagos, where they forced residents to drink the deadly insecticide known as Sniper.

However, the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has assured Lagosians of protection of lives and property in the State which he had been up and doing with his officers from various Commands and Divisions before now. But what surprised many was how the One Million Boys mobilized and organized themselves to beat security men across the State to cause havoc in some areas.
