Health › Medical Doctor In Police Net Over Placenta by arinze198(op): 1:51pm On Mar 05, 2020 |
Police detectives at State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba-Lagos, have commenced investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the disappearance of the placenta of a pregnant woman who was delivered of a baby in popular hospital in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives at Aguda Division of the Lagos State Command led by the DPO, SP Elizabeth Opadola, have arrested the Medical Director of Olaniba Memorial Hospital, Aguda area of Lagos, over the alleged missing placenta of a woman who was delivered of a baby in the hospital.
The Medical Director, Dr. Mrs. Adenike Olaniba, was arrested at the hospital located at Olatunde Onimole Street, Aguda area of Surulere and transferred to the SCIID Panti, Yaba Lagos, for interrogation after she was unable to provide the missing placenta as then requested by the family.
The arrest followed a complaint by one Mr. Ekong, whose wife was delivered of a baby through a successful Caesarian operation in the hospital. But the joy of the arrival of the baby was cut short after it was discovered that the placenta disappeared from the hospital. All efforts to trace it proved abortive as the management was unable to explain what happened to the placenta.
Both the husband and the new mother became terribly afraid over what might have happened to the placenta as it was generally believed that it could be sold for ritual purposes. Hence, the matter was reported to the Police and Dr. Olaniba was arrested and later transferred to the SCIID for interrogation.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited the hospital located at Olaniba Street in Aguda, one of the staff confirmed the arrest but declined to speak on the matter saying that it was only Dr. Olaniba that would speak on the matter and she was not around.
However, Police sources at SCIID confirmed the arrest of the suspect and the surgeon who carried out the operation on the woman and they were said to be giving the Police useful information over the placenta.
Police sources at Panti said from the evidence available, Dr. Olaniba may likely be charged to Court over the missing placenta for not providing it as requested by the Police to prove that the management did not sell the placenta. Crime › Notorious Jungle, Agbole Finally Demolished by arinze198(op): 10:45am On Mar 03, 2020 |
It was a mixed feeling of sadness and jubilation in Ejigbo area of Lagos on Monday after the Local Council authority in collaboration with Police operatives from Ejigbo Division led by CSP Olabisi Okuwobi finally demolished the notorious jungle known as Agbole.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the residents were jubilating while the prostitutes and criminal elements were in sad mood over the destruction of the jungle, within which they had operated for decades.
It was gathered that the Local Government officials were worried over the security reports of activities of prostitution, drug dealings and criminal elements using the place as armoury, where robbers hide their weapons for robbery operations.
P.M.EXPRESS had at different times reported about the activities of the criminals there and their effect on the entire Ejigbo and its environs, which might have prompted the demolition of the jungle by the Local Government authorities.
When our reporter visited the jungle, it was already in rubbles. The residents said that Police operatives and some Local Government officials stormed the place with caterpillar and demolished the whole area comprising about 10 brothels and slumps for criminal activities.
This was confirmed by the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area Chairman, Alhaji Monsuredeen Oyodede Bello Obe, who promised to speak on the demolition later.
The jungle, Agbole, had been an eye sour in Ejigbo area for years where various kinds of criminal activities were well known to take place in the area. It was gathered that the past Local Government leaders had avoided the place until the present Chairman, Alhaji Obe, took over and demolished the place. It was not yet known if the Local Government authorities have acquired the parcels of the land where Agbole was located but certainly the place is empty now.
Some of the residents living close to the jungle, Agbole, could not believe that it will be demolished because some leaders in the past had tried it and it did not work due to the influence of the owners.
They commended the Local Government authorities for sanitizing the area and advised the Council to watch the place to avoid the owners returning to the place.
But it was not a cheering development for some of the sex workers hanging around the place after the demolition. Some of them said they had made contributions to give to the Police and the Council authorities but were surprised that they did not accept and went on to demolish the place. The suspect, Tokeme, told reporters that he was lured into the crime by his friends who are currently at large, claiming that he only obtained a phone and laptop which he sold N5, 000 and N20, 000.
“I used to do business but my business failed and so my friend, who is abroad, sent me this vehicle for me to use for transportation so I can fend for my family. But it was those my friends, who I knew from the bus stop, that told me to bring my vehicle so we can use it for runs. I have known them for many years but I don’t know their houses.”
“We usually pick a passenger at a time so that we can easily overpower the person. We did not carry any weapon” Tokeme confessed. DSP Elkana said RRS operatives were on the lookout for the vehicle following series of complaints on the social media.
“This is a Toyota Sienna described by quite a number of victims on several occasions, especially on the social media. Operatives of RRS, who have been on the lookout for the vehicle, intercepted it and the suspect was arrested. He is the leader of the robbery gang and the owner of the vehicle. He confessed to being the leader of the ‘one chance’ robbery gang” Elkana said. Source: https://pmexpressng.com/my-friends-led-me-into-one-chance-robbery-suspect/

Crime › The Lagos Jungle, Agbole Where Sex Strives by arinze198(op): 11:41am On Feb 27, 2020 |
A visit to a notorious jungle, known as Agbole in Ejigbo area of Lagos, may have exposed that some part of the metropolitan city may still be described as modern day Sodom and Gomorrah, where drugs and prostitution strive daily, popularly known as bend down for short sex at affordable prices.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, may have declared war on the women and men of easy virtue including drug dealers through the Police operatives at Ejigbo Division led by the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, in order to curb criminal activities in the area which had reduced with recent efforts.
There is no doubt that crimes have reduced in Ejigbo and its environs but what the Police may have to really control is the bane of prostitution by old women, single mothers, ladies, widows and teenagers including men who are into one of the oldest trades – prostitution.
Ejigbo can be seen as a calm backwater suburb in Lagos. It is a rugged terrain without good roads and houses built without proper planning or layout. It paints a picture of a forgotten land, where only people with low income do their best to live since rents there may easily be affordable with the increasing high birth rate.
The place is calm today unlike in the past, thanks to the DPO, CSP Okuwobi and her team, who have worked tirelessly to bring sanity to the area but that does not mean that anti-social behaviours are still not rife in the area. P.M.EXPRESS had followed a lead about a closed street in Lafenwa area, where prostitution is the main business. On getting to the place popularly known as ‘Agbole’, it was not different from any beer parlour district across the state. Long queues of commercial motorcycles were were along the unpaved roads while the owners were in different joints that dotted the streets. There are several brothels built with planks, where sex workers hang around at night for short sex coupled with drug dealers who sell various drugs to clients who usually go there to patronize sex workers both men and women.
Aside from the large number of people who turned out at night, there were other noticeable figures lying in the shadows of the dim lights area; ladies of all shapes and sizes were all over, married women and men who dress like women.
P.M.EXPRESS reporter, who took a seat and ordered a bottle of beer, thought the girls would soon flock to him to advertise their ‘wares’ but none of them approached him. It seemed there was a laid down mode of operation; some men, who are pimps, reach out to the ‘customers’. In a matter of minutes, one of them sat beside the reporter and asked if he wanted a girl and what kind of girl he was interested in. After turning down such offers from two other pimps, another one walked up to him and asked a very peculiar question, “Do you want a man?”
That gave credence to the reports we had received about the area. It was said that there were young homosexuals, who are also prostitutes in the area. There were talks that many of them lurked behind the curtains of darkness while plying the trade alongside their female counterparts.
One of the patrons of Agbole, Mr. Bright, gave our reporter the scoop and explained the workings and uniqueness of ‘the jungle’ as he called the place. According to him, Agbole is a necessity. He also confirmed that there were such activities going on there.
“It’s not only the girls who are hungry, so are men. Some of the boys are not even gay; they are just doing it for the money” he said.
He also said that the boys operate higher tariff rate than the girls since they get fewer customers.
Bright explained that both the male and female prostitutes engage in various kinds of sexual activities. MouthAction, according to him, is more common, as the backs of the sheds used are not very conducive for regular sex.
Asked about the risk of contracting diseases, Bright said it was not common since they have local drugs they use with alcohol.
“There are native doctors in Agbole, who prepare concoctions which the patrons usually drink. They call it washing and setting and it clears all infections” Bright said.
At the scene, one can see men one after the other leaving their seats to the back of shed where the women of the night were. Our reporter tried to chat up one of the ladies to know more about her trade but she simply pointed to her love-vendor, who was sitting at a corner smoking what appeared to be Indian hemp.
It was also gathered that part of what the shanty brothels at Agbole do include keeping guns, charms and other dangerous weapons including exhibits of loot by armed robbers after operations.
The Local Government authorities may not have really taken any decisive step on the jungle called Agbole owing to what was described as compelling factors due to the influence of the owners of the area.
Indeed, Agbole is a jungle that have ruined the youths and families which those in authority need to focus attention on. Source: https://pmexpressng.com/the-lagos-jungle-agbole-where-sex-strives/
