China/Japan shd cm and build us speed train joor. Am tried of living in densely populated cities. Civil engineers and architects should fashion us a way out of this mess. I believe having speed trains in SW Will improve socio_economic political development, let us open up the hinterland and empower the locals cos that's where most of the resources are IMO.

chiddye: I don't think NATO would want to mess with Russia, Russia supplies over 60 percent of the gas used in Europe both parties would find away around this issue.
there as always been a cold war between Russia and the west we can't deny that fact an all out war for now is not possible......but I strongly feel this proxy war the united states and Russia is fighting in the middle east would strongly backfire on them, they both claim to share a common enemy ISIL once ISIL is handicapped in the middle east they would turn up the gear against themselves. there are so many interest groups, multinationals playing behind the scene not to get the middle east settled due to oil over there
this war in the middle east aside ISIL is simply about oil, who controls the oil, have you wondered whom ISIL has been selling the oil they extract in Syria and Iraq? many questions and the role of the Saudi Arabia and Iran Russia could try economic blockade, sixty per cent of Turkey's gas comes from Russia, I don't knw bout the rest of Urope though. |

I do not know wether under the current arrangement states can be alllow to generate, distribute and transmit electricity. Energy is pivotal to development, states must be allowed to generate and utilise their own electricity. MayorofLagos: Aare,
2. Public Works Energy, Energy, Energy!!! Going through old pictures of what the Marina in Lagos used to look like many many years ago, maybe sixty years ago. I saw a building once occupied by ECN, which later became known as NEPA. In front sat the statute of Sango, his staff raised high. Sango is symbolized with electrical charge, energy, dynamic power. Yorubaland, the homeland of Sango should never ever sleep in the dark if we can get our acts right and in reverence to our own legendary deity and hero, light up every house, every place of production and every street in this commonwealth.
Hydro Electric Power Generation is not out of style. We have rivers that can be dammed. No more money should be wasted on erecting bridges, there is enough of flyovers and bridge crossings, let's contract Julius Berger. Cappa and others to invest in our Public Works project for power generation and distribution. We must have a regional power grid serving as our primary source for electricity and we only use the national for redundancy when primary fails. |

I concur, with over 60 items on the exclusive list compared to the concurrent legislative list, there is too much power at the center. Me think the way forward is for our reps at the national assembly to push for regional autonomy by sponsoring bills and support bills that will achieve that purpose. In other words, we must make it an agenda. This can also be acheive by canvassing their colleagues from other geo politcal zones on the benefit of regional autonomy Musiwa419: A long time panacea would be for us to have regional autonomy. Nigeria is stifling our economic growth and development. We need to have our own regional trade laws that would enable us define export/import agreements with our foreign trade partners. If we have a south west export processing council, we would be able to address the issues Segun Awolowo, the secretary of NEPC, who by the way is a grand son of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, stated in the article as some of the factors that caused the decline in Nigeria's non-oil export earnings.
I agree that our governors need to do a lot; they need to do the extraordinary; they need to think out of the box, but their is a limit to what 'Nigeria' can permit them to do. For example, Osun state has a large Gold deposit but Aregbeshola has little or no influence over the exploration of Gold in his state because the issuance of mining licence is a prerogative of the federal government under the exclusive list.
The current system of government we operate in Nigeria is doing a lot of economic damage to the the Yoruba nation. A policy the minister of agriculture makes in Abuja, affects the productivity of a local farmer in Oke-Ogun. This shouldnt be so. We need devolution of economic and political powers from the central government. We need regional autonomy |

laudate: Revive the arts, crafts, traditional skills, cane furniture and farming collectives that existed in the hinterlands in the past. My sister did her Masters' project on commerce within traditional Yoruba communities, and I was her unofficial driver on that project. In the process we toured several communities in the South-West. Are you aware that in some locations, it is Ghanaian and Senegalese weavers that are now weaving aso-oke??
In many of these communities, traditional crafts such as pottery, cloth weaving, black smithing, casting etc have totally died out. The old grandmasters have died or are are stricken with old age, and the younger folks who should take over from them have run into the cities to do menial work and become agberos. I think regional integration holds the key. The hnterland must be made accessible to urban centers and between states. |

Oga Ade, the thread says Abobaku of Ife Kingdom is currently on the run. Any correlation with what u've posted on the thread? It is on record that late Dr. Abubakar Olusola Sarki investigated the mysterious disappearance of US $2.8 Billion from the NNPC account in Midlands Bank in the United Kingdom, during Buhari’s stewardship in 1976. It was discovered that the money was traced to General Mohammadu Buhari's foreign bank account. Then Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation news caster, Miss Dora Ifudu, reported the interview where the disclosure was made. As a result she was dismissed from her job. She took Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation to court, won her case and was exonerated and reinstated. US$2.8 stolen in 1976 will amount to how much today? Much more than the total sums bandied around against Jonathan's administration. |
