jonhemma11:
The execution of Shiite Cleric, Sheikh al-Nimr has sparked protests on Sunday January 3rd, 2016 by Shiites in Kano, Northern Nigeria’s most populous city over the recent surge in Shi’a persecution.

Saudi Arabia’s monarchical government on Saturday executed 47 members of the Shiite movement including top cleric Sheikh al-Nimr, from the eastern part of Saudi Arabia who has been a vocal critic of the Saudi Royal family.

This follows four weeks after the Nigerian military brutally massacred Shiite protesters in the Kaduna city of Zaria with reports of the military burying the victims in secret mass graves. The international human rights community and advocacy groups have condemned both the actions  by the Nigerian military and the execution of Sheikh al-Nimr.

The execution of Sheikh al-Nimr has exacerbated sectarian tensions in select pockets around the Middle East and Muslim world with anger being directed toward the Saudi authorities.

So I've been seeing a lot of CV guides on FP this year... I'm sure we can all appreciate the effort and advice.

However, could we start seeing more of how to create businesses and create jobs on FP? It's like we're all chasing the very few jobs out there, spending all our time and money on polishing a CV that will be in a pile of 500 others... yet there was this inspiring thread by ymodulus on the various hustles and businesses he was able to start last year, most with reasonable costs. https://www.nairaland.com/2838270/brief-summary-all-business-encounters

moderators: Not to throw shade on the CV (how to get a job) threads, but in this 2016, we need more and more business ideas on FP, please.
The reality of today is dt millions are chasing the few jobs available. They'r fine thread @ the agric section and it will be noice if many of those threads make front page not sm inconsequuential threads. NL can help promote self employyment by shifting these threads FP.

So all the money they make should be used to pay fine?

You fail to see my analogy. Yes, mtn makes more money than banks but if banks can go under because of just 25billion, where will mtn 700billion come from?

Or u think they have 700billion stashed somewhere?
In banks in SA. Trust me. Nig is not only their investment haven. I think u r encouraging multi national coys to disrespect the laws of Federal Republic of Nig. Did MTN Nig floaut the laws or not? If yes, what is the prescribe penalty? A stranger does not know the way to the market square, it is the villagers that shows him the way.

Everyone saying mtn should respect the law, do u think mtn have 700billion naira somewhere that they will transfer into ncc's account at the click of a button?

Do u think banks will give them loans to pay a 700billion fine?

FG goofed with that ridiculous fine and th gullible masses are urging them on.

700billion fine is equivalent to all revenue mtn will generate in the next three years if things remain the same....

Nigerian banks couldn't rasie 25 billion during capitalization and some wer aquired because of this and FG expects mtn to pay 700billion fine within the same economy. Jokers!
They make more money than banks, u want to compare bank depositors with network subscribers?

…as NCC threatens fresh action Monday
By Prince Osuagwu
MTN Nigeria has said it did not expect any service disruption on its network as deadline for payment of N1.04 trillion fine, later reduced to N780 billion by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, expired yesterday.
The fine, which according to NCC, was against the inability of MTN to disconnect about 5.1 million subscribers allegedly not properly registered on its network in August and September 2015, was meant to be paid on or before December 31, 2015.
However, the Commission, also yesterday, said it would take fresh decision Monday, after confirming that MTN did not pay the N780 billion fine before the close of work on deadline day, December 31, 2015.
A reliable source at the Commission, said: “I can confirm to you that MTN did not pay the fine before close of work today (yesterday) and so the Commission will take a fresh decision on the issue Monday.
“The telecom operator actually went to court to challenge the fine and the Federal Government has also lined up very respectable lawyers, who also counter-sued the company.
“Both cases did not invalidate the fine, which means that MTN should have honoured the payment deadline. But having not done so, we are going to come up with a new decision on the fine by Monday.”
Reacting, MTN Nigeria’s External Relations Manager, Mr. Funso Aina said that “when a case is in court, there is a limit to the comments that could be made, suffice it to say that based on the lis pendens rule (pending legal action) all parties are enjoined to restrain from taking further action until the matter is finally determined.
“Notwithstanding the lawsuit, we will continue to engage with the Nigerian Authorities to try and ensure an amicable resolution in the best interests of the company, its stakeholders and the Nigerian authorities. We urge our customers not to panic as we do not envisage any disruption to our operations.”

PoliticsRe: Wike Commends Amaechi, FG For Continuing Rail Project by Arogunmasa(m): 8:09pm On Dec 18, 2015
dotcomnamename:
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has commended the Federal Government represented by Rotimi Amaechi for continuing with the revival of the railway transport system started by the previous administration.

In an address during the flag off of Aba-Port Harcourt railway line in Port Harcourt by the Minister of Transport who also happens to be the immediate past governor of Rivers, Rotimi Amaechi on Wednesday Wike said that rail mass transit will enhance the durability of Nigerian roads under pressure due to excess vehicular movement.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary Rivers State Ministry of Transport, Mrs. Stella Ebere Wigwe, Wike assured that he will always support the Federal Government in the execution of development projects.

Wike who prayed that the Federal Government will soon complete and commission the rehabilitation of the remaining segments around the country, said rail transport is a viable system of transportation to invest upon.

The Rivers State Governor, who remarked that rail transportation, is an affordable, safe, and fast means of moving bulky goods will also provide jobs for the teeming population of unemployed Nigerians and help reduce pressure on our roads.
In his address, at the flag-off ceremony which held at the Port Harcourt Railway Station, the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi said that political party affiliation had no place in infrastructural development.

“There is no party in development, just as we say the naira has no colour. There is no PDP, no APC”.

The minister said that the event was part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts and commitments to provide safe and affordable means of mass transportation in Nigeria.

According to him: “The Nigerian Railway Corporation has completed the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt–Aba rail line B segment of the narrow gauge Eastern rail line from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri and the line is ready for commissioning and commencement of operations.”

The managing director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Engr. Adeseyi Sijuwade, said that the Aba–Port Harcourt Mass Transit Service was set up to facilitate business transactions between the Araria International Market in Aba and the Oil Mills, Mile 1 and Diobu markets in Port Harcourt.

He also said that the Mass Transit Train Service will reduce congestion on the Aba- Port Harcourt Express road.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Land Transport, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, described the service as a signpost of seriousness of the Federal government to reinvigorate the railsway systems in the country.

BusinessRe: I Want To Go Into Keke Napep Business, Please I Need Some Guidelines by Arogunmasa(m): 2:42pm On Dec 15, 2015
Ymodulus:
This business is an interesting one I must confess. However to go into it there are 3 principles which must be settled.

1. Location
2. Method of Remmitance
3. New or second Hand Keke

1. New or second Hand Keke. Which is best ?
I will advice you that if you want to go into the keke Napep business please get second Hand Keke Napeps not New one. Believe me it's best to buy something new good. But getting a good second Hand Keke Napeps is around 110 - 140k and the person will pay you double.

In Lagos you can easily make your money in 2 months 1week ( exact time frame my friend used to get hers back ).

There are good keke Napeps second hands.
Once more go for good second hand and not new ones. Many may decieve you that new are best, yes they are good am not disputing this. But me and you need sharp good fast money then second hand is the way.

2. Method of Remittance
The period of complete returns on a keke depends on two things :
1. the status of the Keke at time of purchase ( I.e New or second hand )
2. Does your driver work on Saturdays and Sundays ? ( Some people set any return from those days mostly Sunday as maintenance money. Some don't )
3. Agreed fee of return by driver.

There are generally two ways of paying a keke Driver.
1. Hire purchase
2. Daily Balance

I believe the two need no explanation just little extra tips.
I will never advice you to give your keke napep based on returns of Daily Balance. It's a No no. So help you whatever you believe in.

In transportation business drivers can be A pain in the house, don't even trust your brother and Lagos for that reason my brother you have to be wary.
Hire purchase is the best. In the North , Higher Purchase is what is mostly done and in the South East mostly daily Balance.

Daily return vary according to
1. Your state or Location
2. Status of Keke Napepe ( new or old )

In Niger , Katsina for example daily returns are N2000 and N3000 respectively for a new keke napep. And for second hand it is based on negotiation. But in Niger it is roughly N1500-1700/1800.

Note all the price can be subject to negotiation. However am giving you standard normal price.

In Lagos it is N4000 - N4500 ( for those plying Computer Village route ).
Note don't let anyone decieve you for the poster know what he his saying.

Now on the amount to return. There are two ways of paying back Hire Purchase.

1. Negotiated ( you and driver agrees that you bought keke marwa for say N400 and he will pay N700 )
2. Standard ( pay x2 the price. Takes place mostly in North and for second hand marwa ).

Note: payment on hire purchase is all based on negotiations.

3. Brand of Keke Napep to Buy
I can only speak for Kaduna, Kano, Kastina and Niger. TVS keke Napep is the best type, the parts are readily available and cheap. Also cost efficient.

4. Import a New Keke or Buy Here in Nigeria

If you have the know how to import, I will advice you import keke Napeps. Keke napeps are produced in India. But you can get from china wholesalers wholesalers.

Keke Napeps spare parts are produced by Chinese and are more cheaper. Most importers import the spare part from china. In fact All keke spare parts are Chinese, Chinese sell the clone cheap better than India.

22Keke Napep will make 1 20ft Container. It cost approximately 98k to bring in on the average per one ( tax and government expenses + custom clearance + cost of getting form m and all).

Note: there are cheaper ways to bring in keke napep far way cheaper than what Nigerian wholesalers sell.

I can show you ways to bring in keke napeps at flat rate of 35k per piece. It's possible. Everything is legal.

The keke business is a sweet business if you know your way and I advice students to run this type of business.

Below is a second hand keke Napep I got some time back.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/2856999_img20150914160740_jpegbe925ea15476351e01868bfe12064ff1

5. Cost of New Keke Napep

1. TVS ( N420,000 ) ** I imported this myself 11pcs but I got it way cheaper and sold back at N375k there around . if you know custom you know your way **
2. Michindra (435,000) as at Last Month November

Note! The above price is obtainable in Niger, Kaduna Kano wholesalers.

In Lagos, TVS is now 440K, Azubike Tricycles ( he sight dollar rate as reason for hike.)

5. Cost of Second Hand Keke Napep

You can get good grade 1 brand at N140,000 or N150,000.
But the general rate is N110-150,000 ( For good ones in good conditions ).

Thanks
Ymodulus
