Boniwhite: Arm chair fan. When was the last time your so called nff pay rohr? Since rohr took over nigeria has always qualify for major tournament. Infact there have been a steady progress with the super eagles,so what is the point? Gareth southgate have been with england since 2016, (without english fa oweing him) and the progress he has made is on par with what rohr has made with the eagles but you wont hear the English FA Nor fans critictize him. nigerians have short memory! Let be realistic nigeria cant go toe to toe with brazil &co ... qualifying for major tournaments has not been our problem, except of late, major tournaments playing useless teams and when we play better teams, we play nonsense.. imagine 1 win in 4 home games... you should be ashamed of yourself. |

blank: It's only lucrative for those working in a Big 4 firm and that's just to give you a boost to get a higher paying job eventually.
If you have plans to relocate, you can use it (ACCA) to get exemptions when converting to whatever country's CA.
Like any other profession, it's not that lucrative and so stressful to acquire.
I'm a chartered accountant but will not advise my kids to go into it not like they would listen. I didn't listen to my dad. It's a bloodsucking profession. This is very discouraging Sha, So even as a chartered accountant, it’s not working for you right? |

FemiZets: Of course, you can get a job in UK but you must first register with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) signed a Pathway MOU Agreement with The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) on May 10, 2018. Under this Agreement, ICAN members may apply to become members of ICAEW with or without writing further examinations. My advice is for whoever to first register with ICAEW. Wow please can I contact you, your mail please,I just need more clarification please Thanks please |

dinodangana: Being Chartered when Nigeria was less corrupt than this was a really lucrative and prestigious career, but right now having a chartered connection is key if you are looking for a job. 70 out of the 100% of us who started the journey are mostly employed in FIRS, CBN, PEF, NNPC, etc, and guess what, the 70% I'm talking about didn't even make it to the final stage of ICAN, the rest of us who qualified are either still jobless (like myself) or working for peanuts. But as my one of my lecturers said, it's better you do it and know that u've done it so that when an opportunity comes it won't pass your door.
To answer your question, it is lucrative if you are in position, and my recommendation is, do it but do not depend on it! With my MBA and ICAN, many ppl don't even know I am a university graduate because I hustle like I have none, but when the opportunity comes my papers will speak for themselves! Cheers! Hmm wow that’s a lot.. thanks |

FemiZets: Very lucrative, especially if you add an international dimension to it. For instance, in my firm where I'm a managing partner (UK), Graduates can expect to earn salaries of up to £40,000. During training, the average earning potential can be up to £65,000. The average annual salary for a chartered accountant is £84,500, with an average yearly bonus of £17,300. Lol boss you’ve gone far oo!! We are talking of Naija now? And is there anyway that a chartered accountant can be recognized in uk? |

Drefaithful: Almost every professional course is lucrative, but Accounting is one of the most lucrative amongst them. Due to the dynamic nature and available market for the course, the number of chartered Accountant in Nigeria till date is not more than 50k, with the population of 200m. Accounting is only profession that allows non accountant in the field. Provided you passed the ICAN EXAM you are one.
I'm an accountant with almost 10 years of experience, I have so many friends who never read Accounting but they are doing great in the field. I have a friend he has 2:1 in Mechanical engineering, his Dad convinced him to enroll for ICAN, he obliged at the same time he was doing his M.eng, as soon as he completed the two, I told him that ICAN certificate will override his Masters in Mechanical engineering, he said no, though he loves Engineering than Accounting, as at today Accounting is what is bringing food to his table.
In the light of the above, provided you are sound in Calculation you can give ICAN a trial, though is very tough but it worth doing it.
Thank you. Wow thank you so much for the in-depth explanation and first hand experience examples.. I appreciate your time.. I can see one can really give it a try. And it will pay off But sir are you also chartered already? Or still in the process |

daneni1: I wish I had seen this post earlier before now, so my comment will be on the first page of the post. However, I will give my opinion and it's left for you to choose.
Earlier in my career as far back in 2013 after my ND education, I was opportune to work in an audit firmas an IT student, which take home was 50k, even after leaving back to school (Uni), that was my earnings whenever I came around to work during the semester break.
After graduation in 2018, I worked with this audit firm for two years earning 58k net
Although the money might be small, but I learnt a lot, I grew along the line. Majority of us were chased out after covid-19, but my experience speak for me and till this day, I have not spent a month looking for job, each time I needed a new job, I got it with ease.
To me, I did advise you take the audit job as it will expose you and after a year or some month of growth in different industries, you can start applying to organization with higher pay. Thank you for this, I have a brother who just got chartered, please do you know how he can start looking for job, he’s just 22 and freshly out of service |

FalseProphet1: Better collect the bank job, most ICAN certified Nigerian youths have become bet9ja addicts due to lack of jobs.
When your president doesn't have SSCE how can he value certificates.
Go for the higher paying job and use it to solve your financial problems or you might regret it.
This I have seen. Please how true is this first paragraph? |
