Aryember, you may consider writing the past events in italics.

Babe the suspense is too much, please give us longer update.

Can't wait to reach the point where Khalid started loving his wife.
That sounds like a nice idea but something changes the italised words to normal once I update or is my phone the one with the problem? I use italics once in a while but I don't see any when I read. And my updates are long na! By the way, you like loving too much oh! I will report you to komishuna of bedimatics!

Literature › Re: The Child Bride by AryEmber(op):
Guys, I just want to remind you that the flash backs are months before when the story started. That's where the couples woke up on the bed. Lemme quickly call slimberry, she was the first person to call me out to write something. Darling, sorry this is coming late! You are invited too dear. .................................................................... CHAPTER SIX
4 MONTHS AGO “Look at these beautiful toys, won’t he just love them?” She asked her confused daughter in law.
Something must have definitely entered this woman, what child was she talking about?
“And this one! Won’t he just love playing with it? Running around the house pretending he can ….”
Ayisat felt she needed to explain again, she had no choice but to cut in. “But mother, I…..”
The woman shut her up with the look that spelt out ‘you must be mad’.
“So I bought all these for nothing? What have you been doing?! Feeding like a horse with nothing to show for it!”
She shook at her loud voice. “Mother, it’s not my fault. I.… I tried to…..”
“Whose fault is it then?!” she shouted and pushed away everything she brought in anger. “Yes? I’m all hears, tell me who is to blame!”
Ayisat burst into tears. “He won’t touch me! I have tried all I know but he won’t I swear mother!”
The woman hissed loudly. “Why would he? Who will want a pathetic and shabby dressed girl? You think any sane man will want you with that solemn expression you always have on? With you looking like the world is about to come an end? I won’t blame my Khalid if he refuses to touch you like this,” she hissed again, “so you see. It’s your fault you’re still without a child!”
She trembled again and said in a low voice. “I am sorry.”
“You must be stupid, what does your sorry do for me? Of what good is your sorry when I don’t have grandchildren running round this house yet?”
Ayisat felt the need to ask. “What else can I do to make him want me?”
“Are you asking me? Fool! Do I look like a chancellor to you? Why don’t you go to your foolish friends, I was told one took in and had to drop out of school out of shame. She should be able to tell you how she got hers or better yet, go to your aunt. She is not dead, is she?”
Tears welled up in her eyes as she remembered her late parents and she let them fall freely.
“Listen to me very well, I didn’t bring you here to eat and dine with my son out of my goodwill. I am not a philanthropist; I am not funding your brothers’ schooling and accommodating you just for you to tell me some pathetic story. The next time I come visiting, what I want to hear is how weak your pregnancy is making you and not another flimsy excuse. Go and take a class on the act of seduction if you have to! You hear me?”
She nodded repeatedly and watched her packed all the wears she brought back into the bag.
“I can prepare something for you to eat before leaving mother.”
If she thought that would get her on the good side of the woman, she was hugely mistaken. All she got for reply were more insults and curses before she left in anger.
Ayisat wished she could cry more but it was like her pool of tears had dried up. She was surely going to be sent to her grave early if she didn’t conceived a child soon but what could she do? Was it her fault he saw her as a girl who needed help instead of a wife?
“Allah! I’m dead!”
PRESENT
He stared at the staircase with different thought running through his mind.
“This thing! This cursed thing!” he suddenly shouted and started to kick the staircase.
Khalid kicked the post, rails and the riser; he climbed on the stairs and kicked more. When he made to kick the handrail, he fell and landed on his behind.
For the first time since his father’s death, he cried. He cried out his hurt and pain, he cried for the girl he’d grown to love passionately and their baby.
Their baby, the one they would never get the chance to hold. Ayisat didn’t deserve all of these; she had nothing wrong and was too innocent to go through all these.
He was underserving of her and he knew it, had he not promised her happiness? Wasn’t he ever gave her sorrow instead of joy?
“Oh Ayi! Forgive me,” he muttered and wept bitterly.
The door creaked opened and the main cause of his sadness walked in.
“She is awake son.”
He ignored her and continued to weep, not caring what anyone would say if he was seen crying.
“Don’t you want to go and see her?” she asked but got no reply, this provoked her and she said in anger. “Really? You are just going to sit here all day and cry? Instead of you to go and have your bath, then…..”
“Don’t you tell me what to do mother!” he shouted and stood up in anger. “This is what you wanted right? Are you happy now?”
She looked hurt. “You are not going to….”
He cut her off. “That was not what I asked! Are you happy now mother?!”
His loud voice shocked the woman; she gaped at him wondering if this was truly her son but it was him! He had never raised his voice at her!
Khalid continued. “You never cared, did you? You never cared about my happiness; all you’ve ever wanted was to prove to your sisters that you can outsmart grandfather, you never cared about me!”
She took a step and shook her head. “That’s not true Khalid, you know it’s not. All I ever wanted to do was to secure a good future for you and your children when you eventually have them.”
“You never cared! I was miserable! Did you know? I contemplated suicide. Did you know that your only son, the one you truly care for as you claimed wanted to take his life?”

Food don readi oh! ………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
She continued to wash the dishes after watching her left the kitchen, she made a mental note to remind her son to get a dish washer. She might be willing to cook because of her happiness at the coming baby but she was not comfortable washing all the time and never would she allow that girl to wash anything.
This baby was here to stay even if she had to sacrifice her comfort, she would get that dish washer herself if Khalid wouldn’t answer her.
She rinsed the plates and was about to place them in the draining board when she heard a shriek of laughter. She wondered what was wrong with her son laughing like that, and then it hit her. That stupid girl was yet to return since she took that tea up!
She hurriedly placed down the plates and head up, she was going to yell at her from the stairs to leave the room right away but when she could no longer hear any sound and she had not yet come down, she decided to see what was going on.
What she found them doing shocked and angered her at the same time.
“Subhana Allah!” she didn’t know when she shouted.
So, after she had warned this unfortunate girl not to do anything like that with her son because of the baby, she still had the courage to defy her?
“This was your plan all along right? I knew! I knew it you this unfortunate girl! You want to abort my grandchild ba? Allah punishes you!”
Ayisat got down from the desk hastily and moved far away from Khalid, who appeared to be in a daze and began to shake.
Khalid finally got his acts together and said calmly. “Mother, please the next time you want to come in like this, remember to knock. Now please excuse us, my wife and I need sometime only, as you could see before you interrupted, we were quite busy.”
“I can see that, busy at the process of terminating my grandchild I see that alright.”
“No one is terminating anything mother, we both this child just as much as you do so no one wants this baby gone! You need to understand that my wife and I have right to moments like the one you just interrupted, for Allah’s sakes! She’s not the first pregnant woman!”
The woman placed her hands on her head and shouted suddenly, startling the couples.
“Ah! I swear this was not what I prayed for my creator. When I got pregnant, I prayed for an intelligent boy with good senses! Where did I go wrong Allah? Where?” she questioned like the almighty being was in front of her.
To say he was insulted would be an understatement; he was not going to let this one slide.
“Mother, I …..”
She cut him off, ignoring him and turning to Ayisat who was still shaking. ”And you? This is how you pay me for all I’ve done and all I’m still doing for you? Is this the tea I asked you to bring for him?”
“I….I was just coming out….”
“Eh? My God punish you….” She barely finished her statement before launching toward the poor girl who was not fortunate enough to escape her.
If she wasn’t carrying her precious grandchild, she would have been beaten her to a pulp but a slap would not kill the foetus.
Ayisat felt the sting on her cheek and let out a yelp, the woman kept shouting and cursing at the same time.
Khalid got between them fast before another resounding slap could land on Ayisat’s cheek.
“Mother, stop this nonsense!” he yelled louder than his mother’s shouts.
Ayisat escaped from her mother in law’s grip, she no longer listened to anything coming from mother and son, she ran like someone was chasing her. In her haste to escape a woman that was not chasing her, she didn’t know when she missed a step on the staircase.
Mother and son released themselves the moment they both heard Ayisat’s scream and ran out of the study room, Khalid was the first to get out.
The only thing she heard was hurried footsteps coming her way before embracing the darkness beckoning to her.

CHAPTER FIVE
She looked at all the items in awe, picking them each to be sure she was not dreaming but she wasn’t, this was real.
She fell to her knees suddenly.
“Thank you so much for all of these, may the almighty bless you in abundance! I’m so grateful my husb….”
He clicked his tongue repeatedly and shook his head. “What’s my name Ayi?”
“Erm…. Sorry, thank you Khalid,” she said shyly and bow her head.
“You are saying that on your knees? Get up and smile for me please, that’s all I want.”
Ayisat got up and did as he asked. “Thank you, I….I don’t know how to thank you enough but I’m grateful with all my heart.” She clasped her hands together and bowed her head like someone about to say a prayer and continued to muttered ‘thank you’.
Khalid lifted her chin up and said softly. “You are an intelligent girl and also hardworking. I also know you have the determination to be someone in life and all you need is help, I may not be able to do much but I promise to assist you in any way that I can. Once I have the time, I will look for a good lesson centre for you or hire home tutors if those are what you want.”
“Home tutors are better,” she said quickly. There was no way she would go out and perhaps meet anyone who might inform her mother in law.
He smiled and she wondered whether he sensed her fears.
“That it is then but you will have to manage with these textbooks on your own for a while and I trust you’ll use them wisely, maybe I will join you sometimes.”
She nodded and soon began to rain down prayers on him in their native tongue. He had no choice but to stop her when she would not, even after he stopped saying ‘amen’.
“It’s not that I don’t need the prayers but food to fill my stomach first will be deeply appreciated.” He said with a smile.
“Oh! Of course! I’ll serve dinner right away….. Thank you once again my….. Khalid,” she rushed out before he could complain about the mistake she almost made.
He smiled more widely and shook his head before heading up.
Ayisat was still in daze; he bought her studying materials and even promised her help! This was her creator at work! Oh, thank you Allah!
She had no idea how far he was willing to help her but she was hopeful, the future had better things in store for her. She smiled happily as she served his food, something she was beginning to enjoy these days.
PRESENT
He heard a movement and looked up to see his wife holding a cup of tea.
“Mother said I should bring you tea,” she said in a low voice, so low he could barely hear her and she had her face down.
He caused this and he knew he did, he made he the girl that feared him again and he had no one to blame but himself…... and maybe his mother.
Oh no, you did the barking and accusing before hearing her out not mother.
Khalid groaned, cursing the voice and himself. He didn’t want her to fear him, he wanted her affections instead.
“Place it on the stool,” he said.
She did that quickly and turned to leave but he stopped her.
“Please wait Ayisat,” he quickly stood up.
Ayisat turned back with her face still down, he moved closer to her and lift her chin up.
“I am so sorry Ayi, I should have listen to you and never raise my voice at you. It’s wrong and I’m truly sorry.”
She nodded. ”I am sorry too.”
He shook his head. ”no, I was wrong and I should be the one to apologize not you, you didn’t do anything wrong. It was mother who forced you to tell her, I know that now and I am sorry for falsely accusing you.”
“I am not offended, you don’t need to apologize.”
He knew she didn’t offend him but would never agree so he nodded to stop arguing.
“Alright, I forgive you. Am I forgiven too?”
She couldn’t help the smile even though she wanted to appear serious. “Yes, my husband.”
“You say that to annoy me intentionally, don’t you?” he said smiling.
“Did it work?” she said and smiled more widely.
The smile on his face died and for a moment, she thought he was truly pissed and was about to beg him when he burst into laughter.
“I got you there for a second, didn’t I?”
Ayisat started to laugh and he soon joined. They both laugh for what it seemed like forever.
Khalid was the first to stop laughing and when he did, he started to look at her like someone fascinated by a rare treasure.
“I love your laughter, have I ever told you that?”
She stopped laughing but still had a smile on her face, she didn’t know if he really wanted an answer and he continued before she could think of a reply.
“I love your smile too….. Your face and everything organ in it,” he said in a husky voice.
Her smile slowly disappeared when she notice the look on his face. It was no longer the remorseful look he had on before; it was now the look of a man who wanted her in intimate ways. She was awe at how quick his demeanour changed, with the look in his eyes; she was not leaving the study room anytime soon and although she should be weary, she felt excitement her ran through instead.
Khalid knew he should let her leave especially as his mother was still downstairs but he couldn’t help himself. He was only going to kiss her once, just once.
She shuddered as his lips covered hers, nothing registered in her mind again. She moaned and returned his kisses with the same fiery passion, she couldn’t even think of her monster in law would do if she came to look for her and found them like this.
How she was suddenly sitting on top of his desk, she had no idea, all she knew was that he was kissing her like his life depended on it and she didn’t want him to stop.
He promised himself of stopping after one kiss but he couldn’t….. Didn’t want to stop, he missed her terribly and it felt like she did too. Hell, she was urging him on and they both needed to quench the thirst for each.
Everything….. Everyone else could go to hell for all he cared. She was his wife, his only! He had his right to love anytime he wanted, no one should tell him when to and when not to!
Ayisat felt her skirt been raised up and waited in anticipation of the pleasure to come.
“Subhana Allah!”
Ayi heard the shout that sounded like thunder crash and trembled.

My boyfriend wants me to have an abortion, but I want to keep the baby. Does he have any say in the matter?

Legally, men do not have a right to determine whether a woman may or may not seek an abortion. While men have equal human rights as women, they do not have legal rights to abortion because they are not "similarly situated" as women. Moreover, the Supreme Court believes it would be too burdensome for women to have to ask "permission" from their partners, which arguably may even lead to psychological or physical abuse on the part of the husband.
Feminists will not see this one oh!

He marvelled at how quick his mother’s mood suddenly changed.
“I know I say this a lot but that girl is bad news.” She started and he couldn’t help but winced, “the only reason I am tolerating her is because you don’t have enough time to marry another. She had no plan to get pregnant if not for Allah’s intervention and even now that she is, she has no plan to deliver that baby in her. You remember I said I would visit Malim Al- amir the last time I was here?”
He nodded, wondering what nonsense this powerful clergyman had cooked up and fed his mother. It couldn’t have been the truth for his mother to be this calm.
“I wasn’t able to meet him immediately you see because he is a very busy man. I only got the chance yesterday and after explaining everything to him, he told me it was revealed to him that useless girl is already pregnant!”
Khalid said through his teeth. “Can you just call her Ayisat mother? I think it’s less mouthful than useless or unfortunate girl.”
She ignored him and continued. “He then warned me that the child may not stay! Can you believe that? My first grandchild may not get the chance to be born? Allah forbids such! I would have come here that yesterday but I had to buy more baby wears and pack the ones I had before so I waited till today.”
“So now, you’re happy to stay with my barren turned fruitful wife. That still doesn’t explain why she’s to move to your room.”
“After all I’ve said, you still can’t piece it together? That girl will be working out plans to get rid of the baby, she knows I will be watching her every move closely and when out of ideas, she will use you.”
“Use me?” he was confused.
“Yes, you will be her perfect medicine to get rid of the child but I won’t let that happen. The silly thing didn’t even want to tell me, I had to force it out of her to confirm and you can imagine her saying she was not sure yet.”
“Use me exactly how mother?” he asked, ignoring the voice that was rebuking for accusing Ayisat wrongly.
She hissed. ”She will use your weakness for her dirty work! Losing that child the same way she got it and of course, you would never know. Men and their lusts! You would just keep thrusting till she loses the baby, doing exactly what she wants. I am here to ensure she does not use her feminine wiles on you and the best way to do that is for her to stay away from you.”
Realisation turned on him and he felt embarrassed and livid discussing such matters with his mother, what sort of assumption and conclusion was that!
“For the love of Allah! Mother, how could you think of such? We have not even gone to a doctor to confirm the pregnancy or hear if there are precautions to follow, you can’t just….”
“We don’t need any more confirmation, Malim is a man of God and do not tell lies and I think I have been in this world long enough to know the necessary precautions. Don’t forget I gave birth to you and both your grandmothers were not there to help me.”
He was angrier now. “Still, you don’t actually expect me to stay away from my wife till she gives birth and what? Till she stop breast feeding? Or you are going to draw out a time table, stay and watch so that you can tell me when I’m thrusting too much. Is that all you plan?”
“Mock me all you want but…..”
“I am not mocking you mother, I am making you see how ridiculous all this is! I will not agree to this, never!”
“Satisfy your wants outside if you have to but I am not watching her lose that baby, that’s my own.”
He shook his head. “If you think that I will go out and have extra marital affair because my wife is pregnant, you obviously don’t know me at all. I will not……”
“If I were you, I would go and have that shower and come back for my food. The food won’t be hot forever and cold food is not delicious, trust me.” She said and left the room like he was no longer there.
“This conversation is not over mother!” he shouted but he might as well have shouting to a wall.
When will you stop her from controlling your life like a child? The annoying voice was back again.
“And what am I supposed to do? I can’t chase her out, she is my mother for crying out loud!” he, for a moment, forgot he was talking to himself.
This woman would not drive him insane; he was supposed to be happy today for the love of God! He was going to be a father! Something he’d considered impossible!

The more mild way would be to gently and steadily withdraw. Start avoiding her. If you were calling thrice a day before, reduce it to two, then 1 till you stop ( over a period of time) your presence must be totally unavaible.

PRESENT
He walked in and watched as she packed some wears into a Ghana must go bag, he wondered while he’d seen her pack twice since he returned, did his mother brought her new clothes and told her to throw out the ones she own before?
None of those mattered to him really, his mother had not told her to pack out for sure. Had that been the case, he wouldn’t have walked in her smiling. She would have brought the roof down with her shouts and his wife would definitely be crying, then he would have had to fight for her stay.
There was no need to imagine the worst, he was home after weeks of travelling to design new buildings and he missed his wife terribly.
“Hmm…. I missed you terribly, my love,” he muttered against her neck.
Ayisat stiffened the moment he wrapped his arms around her and disentangled herself from him quick, her mother in law must not walk in on them like that or she would not hear the last of it.
Khalid was confused; he knew she still behaved shy quite a number of time but didn’t expect that kind of reaction from her.
“What’s the problem Ayi?” he asked.
She hurriedly shook her head. ”Nothing, I was startled that’s all.”
Now, he was more confused. Had she not hear him walked in? She might not have turn around when he walked in but she must have surely felt his presence, it was not even like he tiptoed into the room so why had she claimed she was startled? It had to be his mother, only Allah knows what she said or had done to the poor girl.
“What happened, tell me. What did mother do…..Why are you packing your clothes, she didn’t tell you to leave right?”
She shook her head again but said nothing.
“Well…..” he prompted.
“Mother said I should move into the guestroom with her, I am to stay with her now.”
Maybe he didn’t hear that right, he asked. “What? Why?”
Ayisat didn’t know how to tell him, it was simple as “I am pregnant” but she was finding it difficult to say the words.
“You are not talking Ayisat,” he sounded impatient.
She inhaled deeply. “I’m heavy.” That was all she could think of in her nervous state.
It took him awhile to understand what she meant and when he finally did, he was both shocked and pissed.
“You are pregnant?” he couldn’t hide the anger in his voice.
The way he asked the question frighten her, she took a step back in reflex and nodded slowly to answer his question.
“You found that out and told my mother first? Who’s your husband?!” he roared out.
Your mother, an inner voice gave him his answer but he refused to admit that.
“You couldn’t have called or wait for me to return before telling someone else what is mine by right to hear first?” he added in anger, ignoring the voice laughing in his head.
Ayisat shook her head vehemently and was weeping before she could stop herself.
“I didn’t tell her! S…she just c… came in and ……”
“I don’t want to hear! Save it!” he cut her off and started to walk out.
She covered her mouth to prevent herself from crying out. Allah! Why was she so weak? Why couldn’t she just say it out?

Mrs Gimba hummed happily to her favourite song playing in her head, finally! Her dream were going to come true, she was going to get what was hers and become a grandma. Allah perished anything or anyone planning to stand in her way!
“Mother! Mother!” Khalid called loudly as he made his way to the dinning room.
The woman ignored him and continued to hum softly as she served the food and covered it.
He realised his mother would never answer or give him her attention if he continued to use that tone so he calmed down.
“Mother?” he called, softly this time.
She turned to him. ”I thought some senses have eluded you for you to be shouting like someone getting burned by fire.”
He opened his mouth to say something but decided it was best he didn’t respond to his mother’s insult.
“Why did you ask Ayisat to move to your room?” he asked instead.
“Is that why you were shouting like a deranged man? Did she not tell you she has taken in?”
He frowned. “How does that explain why she’s moving out of our room to yours?”
“Everything!” she shouted.
Khalid was surprised at her sudden reaction, he watched her covered the last dish and sat on one of the dinning chairs.
“Sit down son,” she said calmly.
