He was made in the same Southwest you are trying to disparage. The blessing of his education and banking career that earned him the opportunity today took place in Lagos and I am sure he is coming back to Lagos after the conclusion of his second tenure just like Mr Donald Duke and others.

I mentioned Uganda, not because I admire their government...but because their experience at parliamentary government ended so badly twice (the second time, in one long civil war in the 1980's) that when Museveni took over, the guy just simply made political parties illegal...and ran a non party system on the reasoning that 'parties foster tribalism'. (And for the record I think he was wrong, but his reasoning is understandable).

What happened was that the PM who resigned, when she was appointed, she tried to pass a budget. Since she has to run a coalition government (her party did not win an absolute majority..so she had to go into coalition)..all the members of her coalition have to agree with the budget.

Well one of the parties in the coalition, did not agree, so they pulled out.

That left her in the position of accepting a budget from the opposition coalition, which included a far right party. That angered a far left party in her coalition which pulled out, and left her between a rock and hard place.Hence the resignation.

Nigeria does not practice the parliamentary system of democracy(the 1960-66 experience left a bad taste in the mouth..and also was more tribally charged. Uganda had the same issues...which is why Museveni ran for most of his rulership a non-party system)....we do it Washington style...which means that if the ruling party has an absolute majority in the House and Senate, any budget passes. If the ruling party does not have an absolute majority, then the opposition blocks the budget until a compromise is reached.

Religion and Tribalism has been the weapon that has taken Nigeria to where it is today. Same youths that are shouting and wailing against Tinubu's campaign for presidency will see him tomorrow as an angel if he were to decamp to PDP.
It's high time we look beyond party lines.
